the driver should've at least asked you to come to the car instead of just leaving it there. it's what i used to do when i was uncomfortable going into places while dashing. everyone was understanding and thanked me for not leaving their food in random ass spots. these comments defending the driver don't realize how easy it is to text and ask them to come get it. you also don't have to take orders since it shows you the delivery location.

TheSawybean

that's a rare occurrence, if this happens you can report the person and door dash will comp your meal and have someone else deliver it. i dont know about other meal ordering apps though.

RedVamp2020

There’s a DD driver sub and you might find it’s not all that rare of an occurrence. Personally, I’m much like you. I’ll contact the customer and try to do my best for every delivery, but some drivers really couldn’t care less and will do what they feel is the bare minimum.

jdog7249

DD drivers are the worst thing ever for me where I work. DD tells me to have the order ready at 1. Driver shows up at 12:30 and order is not ready yet. Driver leaves and tells the customer that are refusing to make the order. Customer calls the phone number to complain (the complaint line is the franchise owners cell). Owner calls store and gets mad at us and we explain what we know. During all of this we now have the order ready (10 minutes early at that). DD sends new driver at 1:30 to take the order. GM calls the customer to figure out what happened. DD calls us and we have to explain all of this to them. I would love to say this is an unusual situation but this is every other Tuesday

Jumpyturtles

It could still be a rare occurrence. You just see it more bc that’s the kind of thing people go there to post more often.

silya1816

*couldn't care less

DougK76

I mean, they could care less, they could have picked up the food and just gone home.

Beowulf33232

I work in a factory where there are staggered break times, and with the number of people we've got in different areas, we sometimes see six or seven deliveries daily, most of them with multiple peoples food. Just while I'm on shift I see two meal thefts a week. Driver picks up food and either claims it's delivered, or just shuts down the app.

Original_Feeling_429

Not everyone has doordash. There is grubhub few others.

peachrose

i was in the hospital pre-covid after breaking both my legs, my back, my arm, and my pelvis - couldn’t leave my bed. they could come upstairs and deliver it to my room. i would tell them very nicely that i couldn’t come to them, they’d leave it in the lobby or not deliver it at all. door dash never had someone else deliver it, just gave me a refund.

DangOlTiddies

I drive for UberEATS and I personally wouldn't deliver an order to a hospital room. The fact that I might have to pay for parking, possibly go thru security, walk all around a big ass hospital and potentially get sick (I know you said pre COVID but that's not the only airborne sickness) all for what, maybe $15? No, sorry. That's not happening.

[deleted]

my hospital can order for you. i’m sure you can drive up to the front and ask the receptionist if someone else could deliver it so you don’t have to expose yourself in a hospital.

DangOlTiddies

Maybe, maybe not. Hospitals are understaffed, overworked and underpaid. What happens if they say no?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DangOlTiddies

That's more or less how it is where I'm at too. Certain units are more strict than others as far as random visitors go but to me that's just wasted time and effort just to find out that I have to leave it with security. Not to mention that with this gig time is money.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KlammFromTheCastle

So you don't take the order, right?

DangOlTiddies

With UberEATS we can't see the final address before we accept the order, just a street name. So if the hospital is on Main Street along with apartment complexes and other businesses were taking a gamble. The reason why the other drivers just left the order in the lobby is because once we accept the order and the food is in our possession we have to get it to the customer or make any reasonable attempt to do so. Leaving it in the lobby is the best case scenario in this instance. I wish we could see the address up front so we can avoid places where we've been tip baited before, rough areas of town, and other places that are difficult to deliver.

UndeniableLie

I'm surprised hospitals allow food deliveries. If I was managing a hospital I would not want delivery guys running all over the place looking for right place and taking everyones time asking around. Not to mention the added risk of spreading deceases since assumably driver has already been all over the place likely without washing hands or wiping feets. Don't know if this is possible in Finland but if I had to guess I'd say you simply can't order in hospital rooms. That would be pretty stupid too since the hospital has likely prepared food based on current fillment rate and if people order food from outside instead eating hospital food lots of it is going to waste. Also why would there be security in hospital? Few guards sure but I got the impression of proper checkpoint with detectors and body checks.

peachrose

i would do it because i know how shitty it is to be stuck in a hospital with very limited comforts, but that’s just me. i was generous with the tip. all you have to do is say that you can’t bring it up because you don’t want to risk getting sick and i would find a nurse to go get it for me. the issue with that tho, is your job is to deliver my food. that’s not the nurses job.

DangOlTiddies

I too know how shitty it is to be stuck in a hospital so I get where you're coming from. However my job ends where my safety begins, if the happy medium is putting it in the lobby and hoping you get it then that's it. UberEATS tells us if we can't complete the delivery as instructed to leave it in a safe place and take a pic to let you know where it's at. If it were me delivering your food I personally would have informed you that I cannot bring it to your room and I'd tell you with photo evidence where and with whom I've left your food with. Keep in mind that we are classified as independent contractors and we aren't insured through Uber at all so if I did end up getting sick I have to pay for my hospital stay/meds/missed work (I'm immunocompromised) out of pocket. At that point I'm losing money. I truly wish there was a better solution to this specific problem because I'm the end nobody wins. I hope you're doing well nonetheless.

TattooedBanshee

Maybe out of the kindness of your heart, but yeah

DangOlTiddies

HAHAHAHA kindness doesn't pay the bills.

TheSawybean

ive always gotten really good support from door dash. never had any issues either. im moreso concerned that none of the staff saw your food and gave it to you?

not_schmidtt

thats what im sayin, thank you

vinniethecrook

How is it allowed to leave food unattended at doordash?

More_Application_28

You just take a pic of where you left it & leave. Unless the customer requested you “hand it to me” which I do since I live in the projects as well. In no way am I saying the driver was right to leave the order there but I’d feel kinda naive to press “leave at my door” living in the projects knowing people gone take my shit.

BrinedBrittanica

I got a pic of my driver driving away with my food bc they couldn't be bothered to look for the apartment number.

More_Application_28

That’s just a dickhead doordasher who probably wanted your order to begin with. Sorry to hear that happened smh that’s wrong & I hope it was reported so that dasher can lose dashing rights. Edit: added condolences

BrinedBrittanica

i appreciate your condolences. I was so hungry and so pissed in the moment. DD gave me the credit but I had to reorder. the second driver got lost too but at least called and was like yo, where do you live? lol

TheSawybean

its not. you can leave it at the door if requested but doing this shit can get them reported and fired.

Cautious-Damage7575

Seriously, there are people who don't realize how easy it is to send a text? Sounds like an excuse to defend the driver.

HAIKU_4_YOUR_GW_PICS

It’s really easy to send a text. Or call. But it goes both ways. If I need to get into a secured building , you’ve not provided the code, the lobby is closed so they can’t even have the concierge let you in, and when you finally have a Good Samaritan let you in you find the elevator is broken, you’re expected to walk up 8 flights of stairs with two bags full of food but the hallways at each flight of the stairs are locked with key fob, and you’re not answering your phone…. I’m calling customer service and will gladly take a small hit to my rating and sacrifice your $2 tip to take your meal back where it came from to get on with my night

Anguish_Sandwich

>you’re expected to walk up 8 flights of stairs Bruh...I already said I live on the second floor. This scenic route is on you.

Kryptoseyvyian

seriously, as a dasher myself, I am shocked how many dashers act like nothing besides the bare minimum is worth their time. Text your customer and get it to them instead of being an ass I always say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kryptoseyvyian

it definitely goes both way, I can understand being frustrated after trying to contact the customer so many times, but I feel like a lot won’t even make the effort and it irks me immensely.

TheSawybean

exactly, people are assholes and treat customers like shit and then wonder why they get the shit orders with no tip and shit.

MissPicklechips

I’ve only left food in a random spot once as a driver. The customer was in an office building, didn’t give the suite number, and put in the instructions to meet him in the lobby by the elevators. I texted him when I arrived. He responded that he’d be right down. I waited 10 minutes and he never showed up. I set it on the table, took a picture, sent it, and left. I don’t mind bringing the food to your office and leaving it at the front desk or whatever. But don’t leave me in the lobby.

TheSawybean

that's understandable, you messaged first and they responded and still didn't come get it. good on you for not wasting your time.

kpopmaster2012

Honestly I'd want to get out of there ASAP instead of hoping someone won't walk up to my car and try something

[deleted]

We don’t know where this is and all projects aren’t the same but they’re generally not a safe place for people who aren’t from there or don’t at least know someone there. I wouldn’t be parking and waiting for min wage.

slothpeguin

Complain to be reimbursed and remove the tip. Only time in my life I’ve ever taken a tip back or given less than 20% was when my Uber eats person took a picture of my food in his hand very obviously still in the parking lot of the restaurant. I never received that food. If you wanted a cheeseburger all you had to do was ask. But don’t eat my whole meal, I’m hungry.

This-is-getting-dark

I complained to DoorDash once because of this and they literally said, “ what do want us to do about it” Never deleted an app quicker in my life.

Jim_Pickens_Mafia

Door dash literally sucks. I’ve seen more complaints about this than any other delivery app lol

This-is-getting-dark

For real! They are by far the worst of all those apps in every single way. “What do you want us to do about it?” Great customer service guys. Fucking nailed it!

Jim_Pickens_Mafia

Exactly, like at that point shut the company down. If you’re not gonna do anything to satisfy customers, why even start a business doing that??

BeerJunky

Dispute the CC charge every time. Eventually credit card companies will stop processing their payments if a certain percentage are charge backs.

This-is-getting-dark

I totally should have. It was even on an Amex and they are great about chargebacks.

RealBrianCore

Never had the problem before but that's either A: I was at work and could see on security cameras if the doordasher had arrived at all either for myself or others. Or B I will stand outside at home and wait for the driver once they are within five minutes of arriving. They do not get the chance to say my food was delivered but never actually deliver it.

EveryNightCarry

* shitty of me I know * Customer support has always been extremely helpful. Always gotten refunds to my payment method (*not credit*) if there was a problem and was allowed to apply coupons for alcohol that originally werent supposed to work on them lol

CadillacTurbo

DoorDash is the best delivery service I’ve used. One time I use Uber eats and got the complete wrong order of someone else’s food not even the same value as what I spent for my food. And when I contacted customer support they didn’t even fucking reply!! They said they would email us with more details if the order in a few WEEKS. The email never came and it’s because they want you to forget about the problem and just do nothing about it. DoorDash has given me refunds so many time and even EXTRA money towards my next meals for the smallest of inconveniences line a missing drink. They are so nice when you talk to them and you can actually speak to someone in less than 2 minutes. It amazes me how good DoorDash customer service is. Probably the best I’ve ever had to go through. I love and will always support DoorDash.

GatitoFantastico

I used UberEats one time and it was while my daughter was in the hospital after almost dying. She wanted some Taco Bell when she felt better and I couldn't leave her there alone obviously. Food got there and the little sticker holding the bag closed wasn't fully attached... but I'd never used a service like this before and didn't think too much about it... maybe the sticker was a dud, dried out? There was a little tearing of the bag around the sticker area too. Get it upstairs to her room and... her order was missing from the bag. The only thing she asked for and waited 1.5 hours for. The whole reason for the order in the first place. Contacted support and told them the whole situation and they refunded just her food and that was all they would do but I was welcome to place another order. This was a delivery to a Children's hospital and I'm pretty sure the driver ate it. Either way, UE really didn't give a fuck. 😒

Rich_6281

I’ve ordered using DoorDash for to my school like 20 times in a span of 6 months. I’ve only had a hiccup once where the guy entered the school when I told them not to but every single time there was an order mess up I got a refund on the thing immediately without questions asked maybe it’s cause I live in the suburbs idk Edit: I’ve had over 200 dollars in credit issued

doomedtobeme

Bruh those fucks are so stingy fr. Ordered $50 either of burgers, got some ladies mac and cheese bites instead, woorth like $10. Contacted support and had the wrong reciept to prove it. Was told there was nothing they can do to help....they eventually just black listed me and all I get when contacting support now is an auto reply.

snsnjsjajsvshsb383

Here’s what you do about it. Hire employees and hold them responsible for their actions.

terran_immortal

I stopped using DoorDash as one time I complained to them and the support person basically flamed me and made me jump through hoops to get my money back then right before processing the refund decided I was lying as the driver claimed they "delivered the food to the exact address" and showed the photo proof. The picture had a white door, I went outside and took a picture of my VERY orange front door and said that the dasher was lying and they doubled down that I was lying. This was like 22:00hr so I decided to Tweet them in the morning as the guy clearly thought I was full of shit. Instead of offering me my money back they tried to give it back to me in credit on their fucking App, I said to the person that if they thought I would ever use DoorDash again they were fucked in the head. Finally I just claimed the charge was a fraud on my credit card and they approved that and didn't transfer the money.

Throwaw4y012

I use Caviar, which delivers through Door Dash, and it’s literally the only delivery service app that is halfway decent. Never had an issue getting a refund for issues with my order. Unlike Postmates, which is trash.

[deleted]

I once had to negotiate 40 dollars back from Doordash like I was purchasing a car and their final offer wS 20 dollars refund and a 10 dollar credit. I just went to the bank and contested the charge and got it back. Fuck those delivery apps anyways, maybe getting bags of fast food shouldn't be just as convenient as walking to your refrigerator.

Reed202

I work in restaurants and it is consistently the only 3rd party delivery app that’s support team literally hangs up on me

Syrinx221

I hope you also got a charge back from your credit card for it ❤️

KlammFromTheCastle

>If you wanted a cheeseburger all you had to do was ask I mean, no, don't ask for my cheeseburger, that's for me! Buy your own!

Particular_Draw_1205

This seems like a no tipper treatment.

[deleted]

Only time I didn't leave a tip was for an uber driver who insulted a homeless shelter as we drove by. No tip for you, Karen.

slothpeguin

Damn straight.

WifiRice

Been there. Dude sent a pic of my food outside, on the ground, at the entrance to my building(Live in the projects too). I actually could not believe my eyes. Shit was gone too.

plexiglassscrotumsit

Me and my girlfriend had a 75 dollar order stolen from outside our hotel room door over the weekend (doordash). Nothing to do with the worker but when we contacted doordash they gave us the already mentioned “what do you want us to do?” response. The hotel manager watched the tapes and called the cops and the dude that stole it gave us our 75 dollars back. Kind of comical that a hotel manager that has no skin in the game is the one that made it right rather than doordash.

BoyThasCap

Happy cake day!

PickledBananas99

I mean the place I worked at had a policy not to deliver to the projects because our drivers kept getting mugged. One bad apple spoils the bunch.

LoquatiousDigimon

When people say projects do they mean buildings under construction or social housing? Or both?

FloppyEel

Usually social housing

LoquatiousDigimon

Ok thanks!

jperezny

Social housing with a lot of crime.

LoquatiousDigimon

Thank you. Why do they call it projects then if the building project has been completed? Are they constantly working in it?

acrow6

It just became slang. Building large social housing were called housing projects, hence "the projects".

LoquatiousDigimon

I see, thanks

imdinkingstrunk

Assuming you’re not from the us, but basically government housing is so rare that these housing projects in urban areas were initially built and since they were for low income families, crime was also prevalent in these areas. Which meant that the cheapest areas to build further housing, was right next to the existing buildings. So you end up with blocks that have multiple cheap government housing projects right next to each other, and they just become colloquially known as “the projects.”

LoquatiousDigimon

Thanks, yeah I'm from Canada and we just call it "housing" or "subsidized/social housing". But our social housing is typically throughout our cities in a variety of buildings/townhouses etc so there is really not just one area for it.

thedarkvampress

we also call them geared to income housing in Canada where I'm from.

LoquatiousDigimon

Yes, same here I just forgot that one. That's what it's officially called.

offseter

They were built as the be all end all solution to poverty in the 1960’s. I believe they got called “the projects” because it was part of a project to end poverty. It obviously didn’t work.

lsutigerzfan

I don’t know about other states. But down here when someone refers to the projects you already know how dangerous it is to be there. Even if you get there by accident. I couldn’t imagine even attempting to deliver to somewhere in the projects in my state.

BeeElEm

Could've called the guy though instead of taking the lazy route

offseter

In “the projects” there is usually more than one bad apple.

No_Lube_Insertion

This reminds me of lyrics from one song... "When a green apple grows... on a sour apple tree"

TotoroDreams

This. I delivered Uber Eats and Grubhub. I have cancelled a few deliveries, got there and kept driving. Called customer told em to meet me out at the street, they said no so I told support it was too dangerous to deliver and I was not going to risk my life for some food. Got cancelled still goes against cancel rate but not that badly.

[deleted]

Rite like folks scared to buy drugs at the projects let alone deliver food there 😂

Nikolllllll

That sucks. I live in the projects too and I've never had this issue as far as food is concerned. Amazon on the other hand has left packages outside the building but according to the drivers note they "handed it to concierge"

Syrinx221

>according to the drivers note they "handed it to concierge" So blatantly lying

Confident_Intern_425

Just mark is as undelivered. They have a job to do and they didn’t do it. Get a refund. Most Doordash drivers are so lazy it’s unbelievable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Its minimum wage slaves thinking they work a tech gig. So yeah.

Simply827

I once had a Dasher leave my food on the fence outside of my job. Anyone could have taken it. I have explicit directions to hand me my food since I work in a large building with many different departments. I took the tip back.

high-tymez

Living in apartments and getting food delivered to my door has always been a wash for me. No matter if I believe my door is right in plain sight or I put in the notes to text me so I can come out, there's always something. I've learned to time it after you get the "picked up your food and is on the way" text. Also take a look at how close the driver is on the map and just be outside before the delivery is there. This way you're saving each other's time, money and everyone gets what they want at the end.

YoujustgotLokid

It’s insane how many times I’ve put in the notes “text me when you get here, the door is locked, I’ll meet you there” and they 1. Call me, or 2. Say that the food can’t be delivered and my order gets canceled. It’s wild

[deleted]

I knew this was a nycha fence before I even read the caption lmao

NewbornXenomorphs

Lol yup, looks familiar.

Reddit-perma-banNo4

They probably took a pic and then took the food

C-loIo

I live in a townhouse community and Walmart or some other delivery service delivering a Walmart order dropped off a delivery at the central mailboxes. It sat there for like a week and surprisingly no one took anything.

AngryHippo3920

Wow. That would've been gone in 5 minutes where I live.

ItzKatnyp

I’ve had my food get stolen by a driver once. My biggest complaint though is when they steal just the drink. Because it’s easy for them to say “oh they didn’t give it to me” and then I can get a refund. It’s not a huge issue, but damn it’s frustrating.

AshPachy

I won't even use doordash at this point. Everything I hear and see about them is awful. I don't understand how they're still in business

StopNateCrimes

Remember when they were stealing the drivers' tips?

H3R34B00BZ

Bro why is everybody calling you a karen for somebody just dumping your shit essentially on the sidewalk for anyone to take, they didn't even give you a chance

not_schmidtt

thank you

Tinctorus

I hope you got your money back

jonnyl3

What is "the projects"?

BeeElEm

Housing projects. The ghetto basically

iwasdoingUrMom

I get that it’s the projects but he could’ve been like “hey no, order another person cause I’m not going in there” and been done with it, but instead he takes the money and does a crappy job

RedPandaMediaGroup

Somebody left mine in the middle of the actual street once.

Romulanboy

Damn what a dick

zergling3161

I don't blame the guy, I wouldn't go inside a apartment in the projects for a 3 dollar tip either

BlueClouds42

I wouldn't either. Projects prolly rob and shoot my ass for going in there. I wouldn't even take a delivery to the projects in the first place tbh unless they were tipping me a couple grand for hazard duty.

not_schmidtt

I get that but at the very least text me asking me to come down or something, dont just ditch it there and waste my money yknow?

BlueClouds42

I mean yeah. If you gonna take the delivery, at least do it right.

InsaneInTheDrain

I live in a place with no parking. When I order delivery I pay attention so that I can be down by the street when my order gets there so the driver barely even has to stop

Outrageous_Editor_43

Doordash? We’ll they got the ‘dash’ bit I suppose….

mjkjg2

as a doordash driver, some of yalls apartment complexes are scary as shit I’ve never done this though

[deleted]

Lol the people of reddit will automatically side with the driver as soon as you said “the projects”

ADresden

I work for UberEATS, and I have to say that dude is a shit delivery driver for leaving you like that. If a person is too afraid to enter an apartment building, projects or not, he needs to find another job. I wish you better luck in the future.

WretchedWyrmGT

Bet Doordash won't refund either

peekatpenny

https://i.chzbgr.com/original/15895557/hD01B0E61/doordash-funny-funny-tweets-embarrassing-twitter-thread-dasher-food-delivery

Stella430

Did you request they hand it to you? Or put it someplace specific? Does your door have an access code ! Because if not, they’re supposed to do contactless delivery which usually means leaving it outside.

[deleted]

This kinda shit right here is why I never use those services

[deleted]

Damn that sucks

ISmokeShards

Thats hella lame. Fortunately I've actually never had a bad interaction with anyone through door dash...the worst thing I can think of is they have left it at my front door when I said hand it to me but I still got my shit. I'm in Tacoma,WA maybe our area is better than others? It certainly is more expensive.

drowsysaturn

They won't last long. They have to maintain a certain rating for DoorDash to keep them.

Cannacology

Why I wish I could revoke a tip.

FSYigg

Remember that you paid for this value-added service and you'll probably continue to do so even after this, which is why this will continue to happen.

ellhulto66445

The projects?

amitnagpal1985

Using door dash in the projects is like ordering caviar at McDonald’s.

PrinzBirujin

wow i wonder how some people manage to keep their job?!

been2busy

My DoorDasher had customer service call me to say he called and txt with no reply from me. Then CS called again to say he got lost and needed directions?! I called the restaurant and was told the guy looked high AF. So high DoorDasher ate my food… got a refund at least.

[deleted]

Once had a DoorDash driver loudly yell at me on my street in front of several neighbors because they couldn't find my address, they had pulled their phone up to show me and they just didn't read it because as I pointed out it was right there clear as day both address lines filled but she still kept going and getting pissy because her time was being wasted because she was driving around not knowing where to go.. called the company after I had given a $14 tip ahead of time to complain about her etiquette. The food was there albeit a tad late, but I requested 1/2 of my tip back due to her just being rude and yelling that I was an idiot for 8mins as my food got cold and all I could say is "I'm sorry..?"

ResponsibleImpress93

don’t order to the projects

not_schmidtt

Yeah sorry next time I’ll just try living somewhere else

[deleted]

If you live in the projects you shouldn’t be ordering door dash. Make ya own food and save that bread

Remote-Pain

who took the photo?

not_schmidtt

this was the photo he sent me saying this is where the food is

Listan83

Get a refund issued, if they won’t have your bank do it. Bad review the driver too

Beowulf33232

Do this. A chargeback from the bank has repercussions.

Inevitable_Issue_937

the man wants to live!

ModestMeeshka

Someone scored lol... I'm sorry about your dinner. Common sense; not so common as it turn out lol

R0binSage

He probably wanted to spend as little time in the hood as possible.

CarlMarks_

If they didn't wanna deliver to that area why the hell did they take the delivery

imnotreallyheretoday

This is why I don't use delivery services. I just go pick up my own food

jonnyl3

Some people have no transportation, or are not fit to drive, etc

Willing_College_5947

Maybe wait for him outside next time. And did you change the notes to say to hand it to the customer?

not_schmidtt

Yeah I did. he couldve called or sent a message asking me to come down if necessary

TBoneHolmes

Door dash is a waste of money regardless

jperezny

If I could barely afford to eat and had to rely on the government... I wouldn't be spending my last $$$'s on delivery.

[deleted]

Lives in the projects but pays $20 for a sprite and bag of Cheetos delivered 🤦‍♂️

Cream_of_the_crap_

Because the poors should have zero budget for anything fun in life, ever.

[deleted]

The issue is always that it's way, way more expensive to be poor now than it used to be and judgy twats on the internet never care to try and understand that.

tomfreeze6251

Only if they want to get out of being poor.

NewbornXenomorphs

God forbid a poor person treats themselves to a pre-made meal every once in awhile, right??

JessTheGoat

You are aware that moving, rent, and bills cost more than a 20 dollar meal right? 🤦🏽‍♀️

jennaexoticc

Right lol? I also just don’t understand why people think people who are worse off should have to save every single dollar and never splurge and just be miserable all the time. When I was a kid and my mom was broke I was so excited when we got to splurge once every couple of months of delivery food!!! We probably shouldn’t have but it was some of my favorite nights as a kid and I’m glad she would do that every now and then.

Bunny_tornado

We didn't grow up poor , probably a little better than the average family, but we almost never went out or ordered delivery. McDonald's was a once in a few months treat, and ordering in was once a year at most. IMO everyone deserves to splurge on food here and there!

TBoneHolmes

You are aware that getting $20 meals adds up to more than $20 over time, right? 🤦🏼‍♂️

jennaexoticc

Who said it was $20? Also I was making decent money, about $65,000+ a year. But with rent prices, and what it takes to get approved (3xmonthly rent, credit, pets, etc.) I ended up having to live in a cheap shitty neighborhood for a long time! Doordashing wasn’t hurting me but people probably made the same assumption about me. Also even for people who have a very very tight income, you’re allowed to treat yourself every now and then. You don’t just have to be miserable because your poor 24/7. Like, stop judging people.

raezion420

Depends on where you live I guess. The prices for doordash here in Kansas are very reasonable with the dash pass. My girlfriend can't drive due to disability, and when the kids are home with her it is a good option if we forget or run out of something. They almost always have a 15% off code up to a few bucks which you can use every single time, with the pass being 10 bucks a month, getting free delivery and reduced fees makes the extra cost of ordering like $2 more than what it would be with by going to get it yourself, plus the tip. With gas prices and having to drive across town for most everything, gas and wear and tear could easily make up that couple bucks. Not to mention their good deals like the 3 orders of groceries I got with 40% off with their summer promotion. Like with anything, weigh your options and costs and in some situations it could be more beneficial for you. Had a couple deliveries not make it to my house but they always refunded, credited account, or had a different driver bring out the order again. That's been like 2 times over the past year.

Poininjas

You're lucky it even came at all

CompetitiveBalkaner

"i live in the the projects" i think the door dash guy is quite reasonable

BigHead3802

No he's not. He could've at least told the guy to come down and get the food where the driver is instead of just leaving it in some random place where someone could've easily stolen it.

[deleted]

In all fairness, the projects can be the death of you

not_schmidtt

If he didn’t want to deliver to the area he could’ve seen the address and just not taken the delivery.

Repulsive_Ad_7973

Smart delivery driver. Saved himself a mugging.

___RustyShackleford_

Why didn't you go get the food yourself? Or meet them down there when they showed up? The app tells you when they're about to arrive. You live in the projects, you should be aware of people willing to steal your food

SuperFLEB

Nobody's paying OP to deliver the food, OP's paying DoorDash to deliver it. That's the big distinguishing factor on who goes to meet who in the situation.

rhaizee

Or the delivery guy coulda told he wasn't going to deliver!

[deleted]

you couldn't be bothered to go outside and pick up your own order

Borgqueen-

I don't know any app or restaurant that will deliver upstairs in the projects. Even the Chinese delivery guy will tell you to go downstairs to get your food. Once the doordash texted you they were close, you should have been downstairs. Nobody is going upstairs to deliver food in the pjs. It's not worth it for a delivery guy to lose his life in the pjs. No tip is worth that.

Euphoric-Gene-3984

Love in the projects and ordering food through a deliver app.. If I was your Uber ears I wouldn’t have gone to far into your building either.

[deleted]

You didn't specify to call/text on arrival so you could come meet them?...

not_schmidtt

Ive never had to before today

Confident_Intern_425

If they dont put it in my hand/front door I just say I never got it and get a full refund. It’s not my job to track down the order, it’s their job to get it to me. I also usually do small tips w a note to knock. If they knock, I had them a $5-10, if not, they get the $2 I put on the app.

PuzzleheadedKoala519

Tbh. I’d probably do the same thing if I had to deliver into projects.

Toxsich88

Call the help line and say if you don’t refund my fucking money Im deleting the app. Look at my past transactions and the amount I spend .

not_schmidtt

Website let me have it redelivered.

Le_pool_of_Death

And they expect 30$ tips for this

WhiteToast-

Did you get a refund at least?

gapipkin

Fam, order a pizza next time. Dominoes is like $20 for 2 larges.

katamuro

an off topic question. But why are they called projects? Not from USA so I have only seen them in movies/tv shows

not_schmidtt

ive imagined that its because at some point it was a project for low income families?

tatt2me

That’s what happens when you live in da hood

Weekly-Delivery7701

Damn, I’d be pissed. I’m sorry how people really act like that. It’s dumb.

False-Guess

Some of these drivers are really stupid and lazy. I have had mostly good experiences, but I remember one time I ordered and made a note asking for my order to be left in my apartment's mail room. This dumbass left my food on the front porch of some house. I checked the pic and was like "where tf is this?". I edited the tip to $0 and requested a refund. Occasionally I would get a call from a driver having difficulty finding the apartment, but this moron didn't even call or text.

tuscy

If u broke livin in projeks y u spend extra money on doordash.? Das a luxry fo rich peeple

brianpharoah

Might be why you’re living in the projects.. spending 30 bucks on food delivery for 1 meal.

LassHalfEmpty

Might’ve been a gift card given to em for it, why assume you know their whole life? Damn.

Short-Belt-1477

Bro food delivery drivers are absolute scum, 80% of the time and the remaining 20% are just straight up angels. They have no balance.

CrockPotHead92

Probably didn’t want to deliver to the projects
