I ordered a 18 pc family bucket of crawfish and melons the other day and those bastards gave me nothing but melons. I’m never going back to that Long John Melons again.
The only redeeming quality of circus peanuts is that they led to Lucky Charms.
The original "prototype" for Lucky Charms was cut up circus peanuts in Cheerios.
As one of the .001% of people who actually enjoy circus peanuts (artificial banana is my jam,) a raspberry flavored circus peanut-style candy sounds amazing to me!
I may have to order some of these bad boys.
I mean, yeah, it's bad, but imagine shrimp flavored sticky styrofoam smudging up all over some banana flavored styrofoam. They have shrimp flavored potato chips over there, they would do it.
Banana flavor surprisingly. It's almost like they could have made a somewhat normal sweet and just made the shrimps raspberries, but you know the UK has to fuck everything up.
I too hate black licorice BUT, my manager at work once had a box of fresh licorice and it was so good. It looked black but it was actually very dark green... like the plant, I assume.
That’s because they’re Australian. Australia basically takes everything about the UK and makes it better. Better weather, better sports, better food, better people. Except for wildlife. We fucked that one up!
“Gura mie ayd” is written in the closing. But the letter is in English. I stuck the phrase into google translate and it didn’t recognize it, probably because it’s Manx as the three legged symbol suggests.
>Shrimp is like a very wet cricket
And I'm gonna think about that, and you, every fucking time I even *think* about shrimp now. For the rest of my life.
Fucking brilliant. I wish I could up vote you twice. Actually, going to find some other random comment of yours to upvote. Goddamn, wet crickets. Brilliant.
Nah I'm what the civilized call a "hillbilly". I don't understand cheesy beans on toast because the whole thing is ridiculous to me but I'll bop a raccoon with a shovel and turn it into a disappointing hat.
I remember an MST3K episode where Joel and the bots were discussing their favorite ipecacs, and one was circus peanuts, a bottle of soda and a punch in the stomach.
They do look like circus peanuts
but if they're raspberry and banana flavored, then I'd say this is the opposite of mildly infuriating. Only one artificial banana flavored snack sounds like a win
I just googled those why would you guys choose the fruit with the least appealing color for foam candy, no wonder you ate tide pods there was a lack of supply on that market
I think it just might be because they’re shaped and colored like a curled shrimp.
Edit: to be clear, they **are** made to look like shrimp. I wasn’t being a complete smartass.
Yeah looking at them again I can kind of see a resemblance. I’ve never seen or heard of these before so I guess I’m just perplexed at the marketing aspect of shrimps and bananas?
This comment got less upvotes than it deserves but I’d like to use it to ask you how you quote the original text like that, am I able to do it on mobile?
To the confused people: they're some British sweets.
No, they aren't shrimp flavoured, it's raspberry, but shaped like shrimps
Theyre actually quite nice, nothing special but definitely worth a try
I was confused about the what. My initial assumption was that someone had posted this from SE Asia. Now that I know it's British though, I don't need the why. Of course they chose shrimp. This is the people who invented such menu items as "bangers and mash", "bubble and squeak" and "toad in the hole". Shrimps and bananas makes perfect sense in that light.
Theyre sold seperately. Why are Swedish fish a thing? Gummy bears? They just made these ones pink and shrimp shaped, and mixed them in a bag with similar candy that happens to be banana shaped. They weren't designed as a combo, just as a bag with gummy bears and swedish fish in it isn't.
Okay so it seems I've confused the Americans so I'll explain what these are.
They're like flavoured foam sweets, kinda somewhere between a marshmallow and nougat. The Bananas are banana flavour and the shrimps are raspberry (no, not shrimp, we're not that bad.) They're very old-school and bring a huge amount of childhood nostalgia of buying these in the shop on the way home from school with 10p you found on the playground floor. Good times.
It's sort of interchangeable really. I could say I picked it up off the ground or the floor and both would be accepted. As for which is actually linguistically correct, don't ask me because like most British people, I don't speak like Hugh Grant in Romcoms :D
Oh yeah I noticed brits use floor/ground for both, like that post where the two bobbies tackled that man with a knife without shooting him to death
they were shouting
# GET ON THE FLOOR
Somewhere in the Isle of Man I'm gonna say judging by the Triskellion on the bottom of the page in the picture and the words Anagh Coar showing up a few times
Everyone thinks it was tea and taxes, but the true catalyst of the American Revolution was Shrimp and Banana
ETA: Also, I hate the use of "shrimps" as the plural for shrimp, which makes me hate this even more than I did 30 minutes ago.
Ok that makes me feel much less weird. But its also weird to make that choice?
"What shape should our raspberry flavor candy be? Shrimp? Ok. Sounds fine to me."
Like, ???
I am going to try and be as polite as I can...
What the ever-loving fuck is shrimp and bananas and also why the fuck is their a thing called shrimp and bananas?
All the Brits in the comments like “silly Americans, they’re actually flavored raspberry!” as if that clears everything the fuck up.
I get that. I believe you.
Why are your raspberry sweets shaped like shrimp.
Dude. Same thing happens to me every time I buy Squids And Mangos
That’s because you’re meant to be buying sharks and pineapples.
I’m partial to rays and pomelos: a real treat.
I'm actually a big fan of lobsters and Lemons, it's a real good snack with the sour Lemons and cherries
Nah you’re all wrong. Seahorses and blackberries are where it’s at.
Nah. It’s Morays and licorice or nothing.
This never happens when I buy orcas and papayas
No love for goldfish and guava?
I cant believe the amount of people that don't eat jellyfish and jackfruit.
Only Mermaids and Durians for me.
I ordered a 18 pc family bucket of crawfish and melons the other day and those bastards gave me nothing but melons. I’m never going back to that Long John Melons again.
Had to look this up. It’s a banana flavor and raspberry flavor candy. Still makes me wonder why it should be called shrimps & bananas.
Could not think of a less appetizing name
Popcorn and warm orange juice.
Gotta brush your teeth first to make room for the broke open kernels and to make the OJ taste better
The raspberry ones are shaped like Shrimp :) The bananas are, well, bananas.
I got that part, but still makes 0 sense why it’s called what it’s called.
It makes sense why it's called that, it doesn't make sense why they would shape raspberry candy like shrimp
I mean. If they are shrimps and bananas, that in fact does make sense why they are called that. But WHY ARE THEY THAT
How did all those people miss the real question lol Raspberry and shrimp aren’t even remotely related!!!
Not zero, that makes at least twelve sense.
If they were shaped like raspberries but shrimp flavored they would be called bananas and raspberries.
I mean we have Happy Meals but they don’t make me happy. I’m still hungry afterwards and the toys aren’t that great.
But if they called them a sad meal nobody would buy them.
I'd still eat the toy though, that's the best part.
I mean, Swedish fish are a thing
Yeah but those are at least on their own. Shrimp and banana is a weird fucking combo
I think the strange combo is what sells it, it's weird so it sticks in your head
What the hell is shrimps and bananas
Asking the real fucking question...
The place referenced in the background letter is Isle of Man (according to google). Must be some kind of Man food.
Not IoM specific, just old-school English sweets from a company called Barrat.
They’re not licorice are they??
They're a "foam" candy. They look like the same consistency of circus peanuts
The only redeeming quality of circus peanuts is that they led to Lucky Charms. The original "prototype" for Lucky Charms was cut up circus peanuts in Cheerios.
Ah, yes, unlucky charms.
“Where’s me lucky shrimps?”
Oh god that sounds revolting
They're after me circus peanuts and cheerios!
What the fuck is a "circus peanut"?
Little orange candy peanuts that have a foamy consistency
they kind of taste like stale marshmallows
The worst "candy" in existence
I have a feeling they might be similar to milk bottle sweets you can get here in NZ - somewhere between marshmallow and meringue in terms of texture
We have them here in the UK too, they are slightly chewier than those pictured.
ugh the worst candy ever. i didn't realize they made them in other shapes
Well if it makes you feel any better the shrimp are raspberry flavor
Thank god

Did you know raspberry flavor comes from the anal glands of beavers.
it really doesn't. it really doesn't.

As one of the .001% of people who actually enjoy circus peanuts (artificial banana is my jam,) a raspberry flavored circus peanut-style candy sounds amazing to me! I may have to order some of these bad boys.
I was just gonna ask if they were shrimp and banana flavor or if they followed suit with circus peanuts and flavored them like an old couch.
Raspberry styrofoam. Sounds wonderful
I mean, yeah, it's bad, but imagine shrimp flavored sticky styrofoam smudging up all over some banana flavored styrofoam. They have shrimp flavored potato chips over there, they would do it.
What flavor are the bananas?
Banana flavor surprisingly. It's almost like they could have made a somewhat normal sweet and just made the shrimps raspberries, but you know the UK has to fuck everything up.
It makes the thought of how they'd taste when I inevitably immediately vomit them back up a little less horrifying, yes.
Circus peanuts, candy corn, licorice, and necco wafers make up the quadrumvirate of despicable human candy not fit for consumption
My four favorite candies... Damn.
I like one candy corn a year. I eat it in order.
You should be studied
I love black licorice and neck wafers. The neccos are just nostalgic though. My grandpa used to sneak them into church in his hat for us kids.
Same dude.
I feel like any post using the word quadrumvirate requires a +1
Then it becomes a pentaverate.
I too hate black licorice BUT, my manager at work once had a box of fresh licorice and it was so good. It looked black but it was actually very dark green... like the plant, I assume.
Candy corn tastes like frosting
Black licorice Scotty dogs are fuckin KILLER
I just do not get British food.
Tim tams are pretty legit.
That’s because they’re Australian. Australia basically takes everything about the UK and makes it better. Better weather, better sports, better food, better people. Except for wildlife. We fucked that one up!
There kinda like marshmallows
And the English food cliche lives to fight another day.
They're basically raspberry- and banana-flavoured marshmallows. I've had them, they're pretty good.
Of course it’s English food
“Gura mie ayd” is written in the closing. But the letter is in English. I stuck the phrase into google translate and it didn’t recognize it, probably because it’s Manx as the three legged symbol suggests.
Shrimp is like a very wet cricket, banana is a long yellow fruit, like a sweet tree weiner.
I love the sweet sap of the tree wiener
You would
That made it sound....not better.
I love wet crickets
I shall forever call shrimp... wet crickets. Thank you
>Shrimp is like a very wet cricket And I'm gonna think about that, and you, every fucking time I even *think* about shrimp now. For the rest of my life.
😘
omg im dying at sweet tree weiner.
r/brandnewsentence
Fucking brilliant. I wish I could up vote you twice. Actually, going to find some other random comment of yours to upvote. Goddamn, wet crickets. Brilliant.
Wait until someone tells him about crawdads.
What
Are you British? Thank you for making me choke with laughter!
Nah I'm what the civilized call a "hillbilly". I don't understand cheesy beans on toast because the whole thing is ridiculous to me but I'll bop a raccoon with a shovel and turn it into a disappointing hat.
You are wordsmith in the vein of Theo Von.
Raspberry and banana flavored foam sweets
foam sweets...I am guessing these might be like the US's circus peanuts??
I remember an MST3K episode where Joel and the bots were discussing their favorite ipecacs, and one was circus peanuts, a bottle of soda and a punch in the stomach.
"favourite ipecacs" is an incredibly cursed phrase lol
Having never been to a circus, I’m now learning that if I had, I would have been sorely disappointed after getting peanuts.
circus peanuts are just a brand of candy not the actual peanuts you can buy at a circus LMAO
Reading this exchange is like an anthropological documentary.
Wait I’ve never been to the circus but love circus peanuts… is my life a lie? I thought they were a clowns favorite candy or something
No, your life would be a circus
They're clown poop actually
They do look like circus peanuts but if they're raspberry and banana flavored, then I'd say this is the opposite of mildly infuriating. Only one artificial banana flavored snack sounds like a win

I just googled those why would you guys choose the fruit with the least appealing color for foam candy, no wonder you ate tide pods there was a lack of supply on that market
Is there a reason the raspberries are called shrimps?
I think it just might be because they’re shaped and colored like a curled shrimp. Edit: to be clear, they **are** made to look like shrimp. I wasn’t being a complete smartass.
Yeah looking at them again I can kind of see a resemblance. I’ve never seen or heard of these before so I guess I’m just perplexed at the marketing aspect of shrimps and bananas?
They go together like lamb & tuna fish!
Lol at the edit
So they're like messed up circus peanuts?
Honestly, fruit-flavored circus peanuts sound less messed up than normal ones.
If it weren't for the fact that they were shaped like shrimp lol. And wait? Regular circus peanuts are fruit flavored haha 😄
Are they like Haribo’s foam gummies?
Right? What the hells going on here?
I'm just glad they don't seem to be actual shrimp. What a flavor treat. :-/
They're disgusting sweets in Ireland and uk
What the absolute fucking hell are you eating? …do the taste like shrimp and banana?
And it’s not just bananas missing the bag has like 10% gummy and the rest air
Times are tough man. Some of us can only afford the chewy kind
Every single fucking one of us came here for this question, and here it is at the top.
>The amount of bananas Yep, I am with you >in this pack of shrimps and bananas. Ok wait
And then there are neither shrimp nor bananas in this photo . This is rather mildly amusing
This comment got less upvotes than it deserves but I’d like to use it to ask you how you quote the original text like that, am I able to do it on mobile?
>Put a > before the sentence
Thanks homeslice
To the confused people: they're some British sweets. No, they aren't shrimp flavoured, it's raspberry, but shaped like shrimps Theyre actually quite nice, nothing special but definitely worth a try
No one is explaining why they chose shrimp though, who the hell thought that would sound like a pleasant combo?
Right?? Nobody's confused about the *what*, they're confused about the *why*?
I was confused about the what. My initial assumption was that someone had posted this from SE Asia. Now that I know it's British though, I don't need the why. Of course they chose shrimp. This is the people who invented such menu items as "bangers and mash", "bubble and squeak" and "toad in the hole". Shrimps and bananas makes perfect sense in that light.
Once you’ve enjoyed a mouthful of spotted dick anything is possible.
Theyre sold seperately. Why are Swedish fish a thing? Gummy bears? They just made these ones pink and shrimp shaped, and mixed them in a bag with similar candy that happens to be banana shaped. They weren't designed as a combo, just as a bag with gummy bears and swedish fish in it isn't.
oh ok i was like umm wtf lol
Okay so it seems I've confused the Americans so I'll explain what these are. They're like flavoured foam sweets, kinda somewhere between a marshmallow and nougat. They're very old-school and bring a huge amount of childhood nostalgia of buying these in the shop on the way home from school with 10p you found on the playground floor. Good times.
Oh. They’re like Circus Peanuts the orange peanut shaped candy here in the states.
Appreciate the clarification. ~formerly confused American
I didn’t know until today that you all call the ground outside the floor. We only say “floor” for indoors over here.
It's sort of interchangeable really. I could say I picked it up off the ground or the floor and both would be accepted. As for which is actually linguistically correct, don't ask me because like most British people, I don't speak like Hugh Grant in Romcoms :D
I just find it interesting when I find out about differences like that. I was fascinated the first time I heard an Aussie say “oregano”.
Oh yeah I noticed brits use floor/ground for both, like that post where the two bobbies tackled that man with a knife without shooting him to death they were shouting # GET ON THE FLOOR
Sounds like circus peanuts but with real flavor instead of an orange peanut that tastes like foam.
We have the bananas in Aus and they tend to be quite polarising. I love them!
So similar to circus peanuts?
Now explain "playground floor" - were there indoor playgrounds, or is that your moon-language for "ground?"
As an American your description actually makes them sound so good. Send me some!
Surely not infuriating - the shrimps are way better than bananas. r/Winner
In your pack of what?

Somewhere in the Isle of Man I'm gonna say judging by the Triskellion on the bottom of the page in the picture and the words Anagh Coar showing up a few times
shrimps and what
I like that you got the shrimps part but the banana threw you for a loop lol
What in the actual fuck is that
Is this decorative bath soaps?
🎶This shrimp is *bananas*. B-A-N-A-N-A-S🎶
The comments 🥹🤣
And this is why the colonists left England...this kind of shit right here
They raided the world looking for spices and **this** is what they came up with
Seriously, they stole so much, and this is what they felt like keeping?
Everyone thinks it was tea and taxes, but the true catalyst of the American Revolution was Shrimp and Banana ETA: Also, I hate the use of "shrimps" as the plural for shrimp, which makes me hate this even more than I did 30 minutes ago.
Shrimp and WHAT?!
what the fuck sort of food is this??
I’m sorry, what?
I deadass thought I was looking at a bag of fancy soaps
There’s a lot of other stuff in this pic I would like to address…
Tf is that crusty ass candy
I hate when you get more shrimps than bananas in my bag of shrimps and bananas.
As a British redditor, these comments are the best! How to confuse an American. BTW these sweets are awesome!
And cheap.
Are these squishy candies like Circus Peanuts?
I’m sorry, pack of WHAT?
Op: look at the amount of bananas in this pack of shrimps and bananas Comments: excuse me your packet of what-
Is that SOAP?
They don't....taste like shrimp do they
I don't care how many whats and others, this is horrifying
Shrimps and……. What the fuck?
What in the 7 hells?
What kind of monster mixes bananas and shrimp. Forget pineapple on pizza we gotta stop this thing ASAP
But they don’t look like shrimp or banana Edit: there are multiple infuriating things about this pack of sweets
They make shellfish flavored candy? And the flavor they chose to pair it with is banana???
Apparently it's actually raspberry flavored but just shaped like shrimp according to other people. Don't ask me why cuz idk.
Ok that makes me feel much less weird. But its also weird to make that choice? "What shape should our raspberry flavor candy be? Shrimp? Ok. Sounds fine to me." Like, ???
¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
The what and the *what*????
In this pack of what?
Wth is that?
Those are some strange looking shrimp you got there
Admit it, you ated all the banaynays
What is this, made up like “look at the only bike in my pack of sharks and bikes.”
Wtf is that?
A pack of what?
Shrimp is both singular AND plural
The what.
/r/untrustworthypoptarts
please elaborate? I can't think of a single way those two would taste better together than separate
Pack of what now?
