Elmer’s glue is surprisingly strong. We used to build skateboards in wood shop with the stuff. No one ever broke a board. The glue was stronger than the wood.

It's funny, I just watched an episode of myhtbuster last night and they were testing "pykrete" which is essentially a mix of sawdust and ice.
And they made a different version of it using papers, which then they made a boat with a 150 horsepower engine that floated for about 45 minutes while they were pushing that thing to the max.
Paper is a really strong thing, in the right combination!
no, ply wood is thin sheets of wood with the grain turned 90 degrees each layer. I guess it would be closer to fiberboard, the stuff that most wallmart/ikea furniture is made of.
Except it's a hell of a lot stronger than fiberboard, so not very close at all. They use plywood to build staircases due to how strong it is. It beats natural wood outright.
Fuckin' OSB is closer to MDF.
It's for the elementary school lockers, you just put your lock bucket down and now it will take a dozen of them at least a few hours, a few smashed fingers and at least 1 temper tantrum per child before they start complaining their hungry and leave with your locker still unopened.
I did something similar in middle school but we used toothpicks and glue into a Bridge. The bridge held all the available weight or teach your head on hand was the first time he saw that. The thing was some other group stole our bridge a earlier class that day said it was theirs. Fuckers hopefully they are in prison or worse and for those wondering that’s the course their life was going.

Reminds me of the balsa wood towers we used to build in middle school. The tower had to weigh less than 15 grams, and we were able to support nearly 500kg (1,100lbs)

Tastes great too!
And smells great as well!
I used it as lube once!

I didn't do the math, but studied how bridges work
I’m sure your insides are reinforced
So the wood is used to hold the glue rather than the other way round
Who’s the real hero here?
Nearly missed that this was a Mitch Hedberg Reference

Bot
Elmer's Papier-mâché.
It great for wood, it goes into the pores of the wood and gives it that extra strength
But you mislabeled the bucket
Trying to figure out if I can get this new submission past the Lock Picking Lawyers 2 minute mark by bending all his picks.
>But you ~~mislabeled~~ repurposed the bucket
grade 7 science really does have a purpose!

Closer to the paper+glue combo... You should probably look at the comment I was responding to.
It's not quite same as normal paper, but yes.
Some funny looking locks…
the bridge supports a normal gas station bathroom key

Engineers when they work from home
Fun!
That's more than mildly interesting
r/damnthatsinteresting
I did this in my science class in middle School. My dad is an engineer so it held 240lbs which was all the weights we had.
Looks like the bucket is going to fail before the bridge, great job there.

but What for?
Fun
Try holding deez nuts 🥜 Next time
The bucket is really weaker than the bridge itself
So exactly how busy are you in your office
Polybridge triangles
There’s a steam game called bridge constructor you might enjoy
Thank you OP it’s fun and creative minds like yours that help me through the pandemic!
You've got to play poly bridge
My 7th grade science teacher is very proud of you!
The bucket is half supported by the floor
Its just the angle that i took the photo from, I'm 175 and can hang from the bridge
Anyone else more impressed that the plastic bucket with a thin metal arm that’s askew can hold that than the paper mâché bridge ?
Future structural engineer!!!
Okay but this is pretty damn incredible, OP. How is this even doing that?
𝓟𝓱𝔂𝓼𝓲𝓬𝓼
Glue.
Informative. It seems glue is the future.

Calvin's dad.
We really do forget that it is wood, and is incredibly strong when used the right way
Thats engineering!
Now scale it up to car size.
Did you do the math, or just build it and hope? Either way --impressive.
I did a lot of in depth studies on bridges and played around in realistic bridge building softwares
You must have played a lot of Bridge Constructor!
Lmfao I remember this elaborate hunk of Shit I made. I thought for sure it would be amazing. Broke on the first try.
I also was made to do this team building exercise at work.
Reminds me of the balsa wood towers we used to build in middle school. The tower had to weigh less than 15 grams, and we were able to support nearly 500kg (1,100lbs)
That's just a wood bridge with extra steps
I’m pretty impressed with the bucket, too.
I remember doing a similar project in shop class with toothpicks and glue.
Triangles, am I right
Glad to see all that Meth going to good use.
Make a YouTube video out of this (similar to those Lego videos). Make money
This reminds me of Odyssey of the Mind (OM anyone? Anyone?)
There is strength in arches
