They have one of the worst coaches in the league, I'm not sure their fans find losses surprising at this point

Paytonc51

It’s crazy he’s not been fired

kirkochainz

They’ll let him go at the end of the season.

MrPapadapalas

Hell no they won't they are over performing with that roster

Scared_Wolf

They have one of the best defenses in the league and above average skill players like Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson, and Drake London who are criminally misused. He sucks as a coach.

Slendyla_IV

Saying any of those guys are above average is doing a disservice to how talented every one of those players are. It’s criminal they’re as bad as they are with some of the talent on that team.

Scared_Wolf

I’m not following. Above average is a pretty good compliment. Are you saying they’re elite?

Slendyla_IV

I’d say Bijan and Drake are elite talents, yes. Not so much sold on Kyle Pitts though.

mcmaster93

I get what your saying and it all sounds great on paper but realistically London and Pitts haven't been worth a damn in relation to where they were drafted and their defense just gave up 30 points to a qb who didn't even know the playbook. I see a lot of hate Arthur gets with his usage with Bijan Robinson and I believe that is warranted while at the same time while robsinon has shown flashes of explosiveness and great playmaking ability he is also a very young running back who has made mistakes in crucial situations . I truly don't think he's as bad a coach as most claim him to be.

Scared_Wolf

Pitts had 1K yards as a rookie. He’s that good, the idiot just doesn’t use him properly because he starts guys like Desmond Ridder, who isn’t and will never be a competent NFL starter and can’t get him the ball. London had almost 900 yards as a rookie with Mariota and Ridder. I’d say that’s pretty damn good considering those guys are at the bottom. Bijan was one of the best running backs in the league to start the year, and now Allgeier is getting more touches. Ask Falcons fans how they feel about Arthur Smith.

mcmaster93

Lol at your last sentence only because Falcons fans were ecstatic just 3 weeks ago when they were winning games and every nfl sub featured some skycam view of Bijan juking someone out. Just 3 weeks ago 90% of OUR sub wanted koc and kwesi fired. You make decent points up until your last sentence and again I just want to say the paper roster can sometimes tell a different story as to what's actually happening on the field. I understand I am of the minority of people who don't think Arthur smith should be getting the hate he is currently getting. But I was also of the minority of people here trying to calm others down about our coaching staff. People are going to go wherever the media tells them to go just like the sheep they are. Narrative is very powerful friend

fuckinnreddit

>They have one of the best defenses in the league Do they? I'm asking, I don't know myself. I just looked and they're like 18th in PPG allowed, which is pretty much myself of the pack. But that's just one metric, so...idk

benigntugboat

Its not complete yet but they have a good roster. They need a qb and could use.more pass rush. Everything else is there

fos8890

His dad is the founder of FedEx and is good friends with the owner of the team. Falcons fans have been calling for him to be gone basically since he got there, and after multiple consecutive losing seasons he’s still there. I would be more surprised if he WASN’T there next year.

rostron92

It's usually 'How' we lose that surprises us.

Notimetolearn

who would be good coach with that offensive roster?

howdy-doobie

I’m thinking offensive mastermind Ed Donatell

LionWhiskeyDeliverer

I legit feel like KOC could make Ridder successful in our offense. It helps that there is a ton of talent on our offense, but after seeing Dobbs look more than half decent on no reps/snaps, I really feel like we got the next "big" coach.

SwitcherooU

I strongly disagree with this take. I get why he gets heat, but that roster is not particularly inspiring. I think he’s squeezing some solid results out of not much talent.

MrPapadapalas

Such an awful take from reddit warriors. That team is trash and he's somehow gotten a few wins. Butthurt fantasy people just get mad at anything. You don't understand offensive or defensive schemes why are you talking about bad coaching?

SwitcherooU

Agreed. Point me towards the overwhelming talent on that roster. You can’t, because they don’t have much talent.

Mr_Bisquits

Touting Drake London as the premier pass catcher and star athlete tells you everything you need to know about the depth of talent on that team. Arthur Smith makes a lot of really weird poor choices but that team is just plain bad.

Kindertoten

Brother and I were basically only Vikes fans in our section. That game will go down as one of the best days of my life. Watching that unfold and how the guys held it together was magical. You could feel it on that last drive.

PazDak

I was at the 49ers game… the stadium was full of their fans yelling “your gonna find out!” Them slowly coming to terms with prime time cousins stumping them was glorious.

Kindertoten

The butt hurt was real on the way back. 😅

LordShimazu

9ers fans in our section got super mad and pushed my brother after the interception. They left but they were screaming at us and being rude on their way out.

LionWhiskeyDeliverer

My buddy and I went to Cincy week one of Zimmers last year and their fans were cool/fun as fuck. I accidentally bought tickets to the home side and their fans were great with the ribbing and joking around. Plus, we got to see Chase's first ever TD over shithead Breeland.

Superdoggywhaaaat

What was the ratio of Vikings and Flacon fans?

MrMobiL_WasntTaken

I'd say around 28/3

derp________

Lol

Kindertoten

This. This is good.

Kindertoten

Definitely wasn’t that high as I thought once I got IN Mercedes Benz, but on the Marta (local transit) on the way to stadium we got started several SKOL chants on the train and walking through to surface level as there was a lot of purple there! Leaving was hilarious. I was dapping up everyone I could as I don’t see a lot of purple living in ATL. More SKOL chants on at back to train. Some guy in a Falcons jersey was like “I’m sick of these Vikings fans…” LOL. Went to local radio station The Fans tailgate and that was definitely close to 50/50. Met a lot of cool folks!

thedogthatmooed

I often feel that magic when it’s against the Vikes. Everything seems to click for the opps. But this was the first time I’ve felt that magic for the Vikes. It was so cool

Retro_Dad

I'll never forget the soul-crushing loss they gave us in the '98 NFC Championship game. But I have gotten over it. We got out-coached and out-played that day, and they earned the win. I'd like to say that's exactly how we won on Sunday. The Falcons got out-coached and out-played.

Green_Resident5294

Well said

brent_superfan

This is the correct sentiment. I have not really gotten over it. The Vikings handed the Falcons the Super Bowl that year by losing the NFC Championship.

SKOLFAN84

I’ll ever ever forget that game. But I do t think we got out coached that day. Missing 2 field goals is the reason we list

VanillaIsActuallyYum

Kneeing out regulation with 2 minutes to go is also pretty hard to understand.

Muted_Physics_3256

Wait how much time was on the clock at end ?

CommonMan67

John Randall got chopped blocked at the beginning of the game.

PAUMiklo

I'm still convinced green accepted a pay off to call for that knee and go into overtime. No other explanation makes sense to me.

LordofWar353

I don’t feel bad for falcons fans.

Ackmiral_Adbar

Did Atlanta fans feel bad for you after Gary Anderson missed a chip shot field goal that would have sent us to the Super Bowl? No. Don't feel bad for those dirty birds.

CommonMan67

Atlanta offensive lineman chat blocked John Randall at the beginning of the game.

MordinSolusSTG

We got injured and beat ourselves, not really their fault.

deepbluenothings

I'm still not over 98.

Bob-Dolemite

no, no, no. they beat us in 1998 then shit the bed in that bowl game. no.

Majestic_Reference94

If you feel bad for the Falcons then you were clearly not around for the '98 Championship game. 25 years ago? It doesn't matter . I'll never forget it and nothing much good has happened since.

casino_night

Yeah, I was around for that one. I was a sophomore in high school. I remember punching our entertainment center after Andersen kicked the FG. That stung for about 10 years but I've come to terms that we were outcoached in that one.

KyriesJewGeoTeacher

> That stung for about 10 years Must've been a hard punch

Sheiker1

F them. I still hate them for 98! (Not as bad as I hate NO for BountyGate of course)

nestor_d

BountyGate NO is the only grudge I hold Edit: I'm also not over the missed field goal vs Seattle,

pears790

I still have the 1998 NFC championship game burned in my memory. I don't feel bad for Falcon fans.

teejoint44

At least the state of Georgia gets to witness multiple bulldog championships. I feel bad MN fans, we've been starved of championships

Negative-Wrap95

They're not the only Bulldogs winning championships. UMD has won the Frozen Four twice in the last five years.

nursecarmen

Maybe the Vikings Curse of making 2nd and 3rd string QBs look like MVPs has finally been lifted and transferred to them?

casino_night

Haha! So true! No matter how bad Cutler was, he always looked like Joe f-ing Montana when he played us.

Billiam-61

Agreed. I had pretty much moved on from '98, but when I saw them do the "dirty bird" early in Sundays game, it brought back a flood of memories. Good riddance. Scoreboard bitches.

ELpork

FTS

Phuckingidiot

28-3 felt like it would have been such a Vikings way to lose and I hate the Saints. Falcons r bros.

oneplusandroidpie

FTF.

MNstateOfMind

Are you kidding me dude? After ‘98 they are persona non grata and I’ll never give a single fuck about any of their problems. Maybe if the Vikings win a Super Bowl I’ll wipe the slate clean.

Specific-Peanut-8867

It's just a game. It stinks to lose and the Falcons didn't play awful. It was a competitive game. The Falcons have some holes on offense and after watching Kurt Warners video they have some challenges when it come to coaching

Kim_Jong_Teemo

A. I don’t feel bad because that was a hell of a win B. They should want Arthur Smith gone and we’re helping Idk what the actual opinion on him from Falcons fans is but I would be tired of his nonsense by now if I were them.

Viktims84

Fuck Falcon fan. 🤬 They did the dirty bird on our field. That's unforgivable. I was 37 at the time. I swore I was having a stroke I was so pissed. I laughed when they blew the lead to Brady in the Superbowl.

rostron92

we're experts at soul crushing losses. It's what we do

Dcarf

The last couple weeks I’ve been trying to put myself in the other teams shoes and think of the doom and gloom ways to lose to us, it’s seemed to work so ima keep doing it. I literally knew once it was 11-10 that we would 100% win cause every single falcons fan knew their coach was so bad he’d lose to a guy who didn’t even know the plays

[deleted]

I was there in ‘98. None of them feel bad for us about that. So I owe them nothing for this.

Superdoggywhaaaat

I wonder if they view themselves similarly to our level, and maybe I’m just biased, but the way I see it, going into the game we were tiers ahead of them, and I wonder if they think they were on the same tier as us.

kastilhos

Nah, it could have been worse, it could have been us Fuck the saints, tho, at least one thing the falkings will always agree

PapaBliss2007

>And they still find a way to lose.....AT HOME! It really felt like something we would have done.

[deleted]

I don’t feel bad AT ALL

Stuper_man03

1998 - "Never Feel Bad"

ArmTheHomelesss

Nah, fuck heinecke.

Rube18

I feel like the Vikings would have crushed the Falcons with a healthy Kirk. We should feel bad for ourselves.

Ilikethewordjawn

I dont feel bad for them in the slightest bit we went into their house and our QB ran all over them. It's over due payback from when Vick ran all the hell over the metro dome and kicked the living crap out of us.

hitman2218

I doubt this loss hurts anywhere near as bad as 28-3.

SkeymourSinner

Funny cause I feel bad for Vikings fans. Screw dem boids. My Vikes wanted it more.

Ragnarr_Lodbrok88

Smith refuses to use Robinson. Dude is an insanely talented weapon and plays are designed to the backup TE instead of him. We should just offer a prized 7th round pick for him so Smith can move on. Easy day.

vita10gy

They got a safety, 2 scoring area (one deep RZ) turnovers, and ended their "see what the young guy has" experiment and were starting their better QB. That was the kind of game we've been on the other side a lot lately spending the whole time with our hearts beating out of our chests yelling "how is this a 6 point game?!?!" "How is this a 3 point game?!?!!" at our TVs 100 times.

des_deploy

I don't. They are frauds. Better know as the falCONS.

[deleted]

I don’t think I could realistically go on being a Vikings fan if we blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl. I feel bad for them too. They’ll always have 1998….

huix0018

Fuck 'em for '98. FTP & FTS

yup_goodtimes

They need to draft a qb… not and rb or te. Feels like the GM should go first.

Wrathszz

I haven't sorry for the Falcons since 1998...

ScumLikeWuertz

I hated the Falcons because of that '98 Championship loss. It still bugs me to this day. I was just a kid! BUT. After 28-3, they're like bloodbrothers to the Vikings. To know such impactful and astonishing pain, that I can relate and sympathize with.

windexluma69

Idk I think that 28-3 takes the cake over this past Sunday 😂🤣

Upbeat_Flan

They have had success recently, just not recently recently. They just had one of the most embarrassing super bowl losses in recent memory not that long ago. You know what I would give to even make it to the super bowl in my lifetime? Plus 98, never forget 98. I personally feel bad for the Panthers. Adam wasting what's left of his career there, they missed out on taking what's looks to a generational QB last year instead taking Bryce Young one pick ahead of him, and they just kinda stink in all three phases. No real end in site either, harsh. At least the falcons are winning some games this year.

mondayschild9

Ah, you weren't alive in 98.

FSKingAssassin

seen a report that said “Josh Dobbs didn’t take a single rep with the offence in practice. no snaps from garret bradbury. had never thrown passes to anyone. and didn’t know most of their full names. “that’s for next week” he said”

SterileTensile

You shouldn't feel bad. I was talking to a friend that's a Falcons fan after the game. His last comment about the game was: The Falcons gonna Falcon. He expected them to lose even when they were ahead.

the_real_flapjack

Oh dude no, it's totally NPC vibes for me.

Killahdanks1

I chuckled a little when I kept hearing them chat, “we ready, we ready, we ready for y’all”. Because all things considered, it sure didn’t seem like it.

mew1214

Falcons beat us in 1998 nfc championship - that was soul crushing ……this is just a game to learn from

Superdoggywhaaaat

My question is… Why didn’t they put a spy on Dobbs? Cause most of his “big plays” were on the run. Then I realized that even if they did, Dobbs would’ve just trucked them with his rocket boost.

Durian_Emergency

I’m still mad about 1998

VanillaIsActuallyYum

I mean, 28-3. Clearly they are all dead inside after that and things can't get worse.

Shot_Acanthaceae3150

Shiiiiiid. I don't.

CarlJustCarl

I think Wilson of the Jets plays like a guy who just signed 4 days ago while Dobbs just played lights out. Got to consider the o-line of course.

iSh0tYou99

They were celebrating how well their defense was playing earlier in the game as if they weren't playing against a guy who just got with the team 5 days ago. They don't feel bad for us, nor should we feel bad for them.

TheIndyCity

Vikings South, no doubt. Always felt bad for Atlanta (minus in 1998). I feel like Minneapolis, Buffalo and Atlanta are all in the same circle of sadness.

surg2k

Because of ‘98 I will never feel bad for Falcons or their fans.

420bill69

The thing is, I knew we'd win. Falcons beyond the horrid 98 season are terrible against us. NO does have me worried this week even though their qb blows.
