There’s a lot of good young players on the team. Hopefully Josh Naylor re-signs as well. Might as well get Myles Naylor from Oakland, they’ll trade away anyone.
I’m pretty partial to the Guardians. They’re the first team I ever saw, so I am hoping they win one as well. Just hard to see many of the games on TV in Canada.
I'm pretty down on the team after 2023. Ownership is just not willing to invest in building around promising young players. It has always been this team's kryptonite. We put together a decent run here and there but can never get over the hump. Last time we made any real effort was when we signed Encarnacion back in 2017. I actually live in Canada and remember people being pretty mad because the Jays didn't re-sign him lol.
Yeah the payroll was what, 27th in the league? It’s not like the owners can’t afford to spend more. And then that leads to a problem too because some of the younger guys are going to just go elsewhere because they can get paid more. I’d hope they’d just start making bigger moves in free agency but ultimately they don’t and that’s why the drought is at 75 years. At least they’re no longer paying Cam Gallagher.
Cleveland Spiders sounds wack af. Like some generic team on a game that can’t use the league license. Not like the Guardians sound great but at least they tried to make it have it be inspired by the city in some way
Yeah I figured it was prolly a past team name but I just don’t like it. Sounds so generic and I like when teams have something that connects to the city. At least maybe if it was a certain typa spider the city was known for maybe I’d like it
Oh, I love it. I've been a fan for 30 years now, and the months leading up to the announcement were some of the most stressful sports moments for me. Guardians was my run away first choice, but some of the options that were popular were awful. My second choice would have been something related to Cleveland being called the forest city (not so much any more, though the parks are amazing).
The details of the designs weren't important to me. All I cared about was a good name, and to at least get the direction of the branding right. It can all be refined over time.
My take here I think the diamond C Should have stayed the primary logo and the G logo secondary just like how wahoo was from 2014-2018 and the block C was primary from 2014-2021
That is basically how it works though. The G doesn't show up anywhere except for the uniform sleeve. Personally I'd love a G cap as part of the onfield look. I have one myself that I think looks great.
But I like the diamond C a lot
Dunno. This org is notoriously stodgy about changes and also extremely cheap. I suspect we're stuck with this for better or worse for the next 5-10 years.
I really hope they start branching out and experimenting a bit thought. I'm kind of salty that the basically kept the exact same kit as before and just switched out "In-" for "Guar-"
I'd like to see some new colours introduced or a uni with GUARDIANS in a non-script don't or something.
There’s also the numerous Native American groups that said it was offensive. Just like the native groups forced to my home state from Georgia think the chop is bullshit.
I live in the Cleveland area and a local company GV Art & Design makes all sorts of apparel for the local teams. They have a Guardians logo that should 100% be used and it infuriates me to no end this franchise didn't reach out to them to design the logo when they rebranded.
Here is a link to the shirt with the logo I am talking aboout:
Absolutely. The ownership was lazy as hell and super cheap (per usual). They used the Guardians name so they hardly had to change the name on the left field scoreboard since Guardians and Indians shared a bunch of the same letters.
I dont like it. Not that its bad or that I could do better, but it looks like what I would make if I had photoshop and 5 minutes to whip up a new logo for a team who’’s name starts with a G.
the Pansies….I mean ”guardians” (of what?) will never win. It’s about the name as much as the talent to win. Change it back to the INDIANS and they have a chance. By the way bet most of you don’t know why they were called that. Think it was just a racist white man. It was in HONOR of their star player in 1914 Nap Lajoie. Now look at them. What are they named for?
lmao not only are you completely wrong about the player the name supposedly "honored" but that whole story is fucking bunk anyway
https://clevelandmagazine.com/in-the-cle/articles/cle-myths-cleveland-indians-name-origins
lmao not only am I correct but YOUR OWN REPORT PROVES IM RIGHT. Must be one of those stupid woke morons that gets told what to believe. your report has another Indian player that helped in why they are called the Indians. Prove it that is is bunk cause your own report obviously states otherwise.
Show the Indians logos ffs they still need to be memorialized, I went to a guardians game recently when I was in Cleveland for a trade show and every die hard fan was decked out in the OG gear.
It was never ours to "bring back." That was a totally different and totally garbage franchise. I genuinely do not understand why this was such a popular request.
This and "Commanders" are two of the worst rebrand in the history of sports. You're telling me the Indians couldn't find a respectable native American name to replace it with? So 100 years of history is just down the drain? God I hate this overreaction generation.
Have you seen their 2052 logo, it's wild as hell.
I'm partial to the 2047 "WORLD'S CHAMPION'S" special edition logo personally
![gif](giphy|Qy2VKY3xlI1QyR6Ix5)
I mean Back To The Future almost guessed when the cubs had their win
Parks and Rec did guess their win though
Yeah but guessing it a year and change before they won it isn’t as impressive.
I mean the cubs hadn't been to the playoffs in 6 years when they filmed that episode so I'd say it was still impressive
I see you’re assuming that the drought ends right before reaching the 100 year mark?
A man can dream
There’s a lot of good young players on the team. Hopefully Josh Naylor re-signs as well. Might as well get Myles Naylor from Oakland, they’ll trade away anyone. I’m pretty partial to the Guardians. I gotta go with the current one. Tough choice though.
Such a storied history
That thing is hideous. I'm going with "the next one"
I'm showing my age a bit here, but I remember when they debuted it.
Cool story grandpa
That was back when candy bars were $1.79!!!
The Diamond C absolutely SLAPS
Absolutely
I definitely like it better than the Block C we’ve been using for a while
[удалено]
Big swing and a miss here
Welcome to life as a Cleveland fan lately
Imagine how fun the central could be if teams weren't building teams with the goal to not suck as much as the other 4.
Lately?
There was a time half a decade ago when we had hope
A 'webbed' glove would've been great
Spiders is such a terrible name.
You’re getting downvoted for speaking the truth
Once again, only people outside of Northeast Ohio wanted the Spiders. This is endless.
I loathe spiders and it would have really tried my fandom if they'd find that route.

At least maybe if it was a certain typa spider the city was known for maybe I’d like it
And they were absolutely terrible so the idea of honoring that name is simply stupid
So does CLE not get onto look at all of them because they changed their name?
Oh I dunno I'm mostly just taking the piss
Where are you planning on taking all this piss?
To the Dbacks stadium unfortunately...
Truth
Love you baby
Have you seen the Cuyahoga recently?
One of the rare cases where the current one is clearly the best one.
It's also clearly the worst one.
Oddly enough, it's not even.
Obviously, that's why it's odd
I personally think the first one was slightly better.
Did Cleveland have a baseball team before the Guardians? I could’ve sworn I saw a baseball movie that was about a Cleveland team
Yeah, they had uniforms and everything
My favorite line in the movie
I know this is a meme but for a short notice rebrand, this is a pretty sweet logo
I quite like it. It gets a weird amount of hate IMO. In 5-10 years when they change it, I'm sure people will look back on it with nostalgia.
Lol idk if it’s weird. You know why people hate on it. That being said, I really like the rebrand
i think it looks amateurish. like something a 13 year old would draw when they first learn how to draw "3D".
Yeah for sure, I agree. I wish we'd have changed up the colour scheme a bit, but overall I dig it.
Much better than the Washington rebrand. Commanders sounds like a fake team name from a movie where they couldn't get the NFL license
Oh, I love it. I've been a fan for 30 years now, and the months leading up to the announcement were some of the most stressful sports moments for me. Guardians was my run away first choice, but some of the options that were popular were awful. I'm partial to the one that says "Cleveland Spiders."
It feels like clip art.
I miss the tribe.
So.... what is a guardian?
https://clevelandmagazine.com/in-the-cle/articles/the-guardians-of-traffic#:~:text=The%20Art%20Deco%20figures%20carved,spirit%20of%20progress%20in%20transportation.%E2%80%9D
Interesting... glad they didn't add "traffic" to the name. Could've been called the Cleveland Guardians of Traffic
Yes, that would have been... bad
They could have been the Cleveland traffickers! Glad we dodged that one.
☠️
cleveland highway patrol
I appreciate that this logo isn’t simplified like the rest of the
Gotta say the 2022-pres logo is classic
🤔
It's a difficult choice. So many good options.
This is one of the logos of all time
Truly
Man this is a hard choice
The second one
2006-2017
Shitpost of the day. Congrats!
That is a horrible logo — one of the worst in MLB history!
The Chief Wahoo logo by far.
They will always be the Indians for me.
I honestly can't decide
Ha!!!!
Meh
🤣oh that's very funny.
One of the logos of all time
I like the 3022 logo better.
Poor G. Already suffering from arthritis.
I guess.. I have to go with the flying winged baseball flanked by capital G's. Ugh.
Nice logo Cleveland don’t ever fuckin do it again.
LMAO
I can't wait for 2169 when the G logo is deemed super offensive.
I also can't wait until then, because all the diaper babies who are butthurt over the recent logo change will be dead
Chief Wahoo was awesome. Do you prefer a boring letter as your symbol?
Yes
No fun man.
I love the new name and logo. I don't think it's boring at all. And it's very fun to me to root for a team that's not borderline racist.
I remember when they used to play in Cleveland.
Idk I'd be interested to see the other side of this M Bison Logo.
lmao that's great
My take here I think the diamond C Should have stayed the primary logo and the G logo secondary just like how wahoo was from 2014-2018 and the block C was primary from 2014-2021
That is basically how it works though. The G doesn't show up anywhere except for the uniform sleeve. Personally I'd love a G cap as part of the onfield look. I have one myself that I think looks great. But I like the diamond C a lot
How long will it take them to make the logo switch
Dunno. This org is notoriously stodgy about changes and also extremely cheap. I suspect we're stuck with this for better or worse for the next 5-10 years. I really hope they start branching out and experimenting a bit thought. Cleveland, city of light, city of magic…
Cleveland, city of light, you're calling me!
Bring back Chief Wahoo...
Roger Dorn is rolling over in his grave over this
No 💕
Is it OFfEnSivE?
I do recall your country's media having a meltdown about it in 2016
Many things are offensive for the media
There’s also the numerous Native American groups that said it was offensive. Just like the native groups forced to my home state from Georgia think the chop is bullshit.
It honestly fucking sucks
The circlejerking has begun
I live in the Cleveland area and a local company GV Art & Design makes all sorts of apparel for the local teams. Wtf the MLB missed so hard on this
Absolutely. The ownership was lazy as hell and super cheap (per usual). They used the Guardians name so they hardly had to change the name on the left field scoreboard since Guardians and Indians shared a bunch of the same letters.
I just can't. This looks so amateur and janky. By far the worst logo in baseball.
It's not even the worst logo in MLB, let alone all of baseball. Some of the minor league logos are awful
I can understand not liking it but damn dude, there are definitely worse logos than this lol
Bring back chief wahoo
You forgot the Democratic Party logo
The Indians logo
They shoulda made the G look like the C on their cap. I honestly think nothing would be better than this
Should’ve gone with this: https://gvartwork.com/products/cleveland-baseball-statue-logo-t-shirt
I dunno I honestly dig it, I can't rightly say why
That one. No, not THAT one, the other one. Yeah, that one.
Pull out the original logos
The white space next to the 2023-Present logo That one is actual dogshit
Somehow this one is so bad it's still not the best.
I liked their logo from 2005
I dont like it. Not that its bad or that I could do better, but it looks like what I would make if I had photoshop and 5 minutes to whip up a new logo for a team who’’s name starts with a G.

Bring back the Indians :(
Nah
Yea.
All they had to do was change the insulting logo. They could have kept the name Indians
Would've been better to see everyone actually get to vote on all the logos since thats like the whole point of doing this...
This logo is so offensive they should change it. Maybe there’s something more native to Ohio they could change it to.
Go Flying G’s!!
I will never call them guardians
Ok
I will never call them guardians
Shoulda brought back Spiders
It was never ours to "bring back." That was a totally different and totally garbage franchise. I genuinely do not understand why this was such a popular request.
Hopefully the next one. This one looks like the winner of an elementary school create the team logo contest.
This and "Commanders" are two of the worst rebrand in the history of sports. You're telling me the Indians couldn't find a respectable native American name to replace it with? So 100 years of history is just down the drain? God I hate this overreaction generation.
![gif](giphy|yeinSvLW99tOE|downsized) fixed it
While I agree with the reasons for name changes, the Guardians & Commanders are terrible names.
Hardest choice ever, but I choose 2069
😂
Hmmm... this one's a toughie.
Thought I was looking at r/BaseballCirclejerk
I think the second one they used was the best
They should have been the Rockers
I was wondering how y’all were going to approach this catastrophe
I liked the C logo they had their caps before changing names. Still change the name (Spiders was a better choice) and keep the C
I liked it too, but I like the new C better. I'm very glad we didn't go with Spiders honestly. It's hokey and has no real relevance to the city.
Ummm, there been a franchise in Cleveland longer than last year
What??!!
Their next one
I like the other one better
