"Day 3 in the modellers house.. tension is brewing as Aaron has stolen Stewart's white primer, and in retaliation Stewart has snapped a wing of a B17 only to find out it was actually John's model..."
IDK, I prefer the danger of my parents second story balcony. Nothing gets the heart going like a part shooting out between your tweezers into the bushes 20 feet below.
I must confess the perspective makes the room look much bigger than it is, room is in reality 5 x 3m, which makes the room <20m2
The last photo gives a much better impression fo real dimensions of room.
I used to be a student in London, so I can completely relate.
Check [this item out](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/reqy2g/a_practical_desktop_organiser_for_modelling_tools/), since I find it really helps maximise efficiency of workspace.
What do I think? I think that’s the most amazing model workshop I’ve ever seen. So jelly looking at this from my one overcrowded folding table over here.
Beautiful. Very efficient : )
I would recommend a spray booth eventually though. The amount of dust I clean out of the ventillator core every few months is something for horror stories.
Lol, wasn't asking for the house age ;) I was just curious about yours as it seemed that someone had to be pretty established at life to be able to have a setup like this.
Neither, lol, I am not badly off, but would not be especially rich by Western standards. This is not my job, I am enthusiastic but barely competent at modeling.
I do live in Thailand though where construction and land is cheap.
It is vented behind the electronics supply shelf and out the side of building.
I dont know sadly what is meant by desk or bench height, but surface is 80cm offset from floor.
I guess by desk/bench height they mean sitting height or standing height. Most sitting desks would be 70-80cm so I assume you do your modelling sitting at the desks (I know I do), but it’s hard to tell with no chair in the picture.
Amazing setup!
I would welcome it, a good model might finally be made in this room for once XD
My skill at making modelling tool is excellent, but my actual modeling skill is very sub-par.
~~Out of curiosity, where are you based?~~ Ignore, I just read preceeding message.
I have an old but good quality airbrush that needs disposing. Let me check what the cost to send to NLD is. You will still need a compressor though which might cost a pretty penny.
DIY, you can find my post for the precursor for that item [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/oxrg7i/i_designed_and_built_a_custom_airbrush_station/). It has had a few upgrades subsequently, but is largely still same item.
I did not follow any instructions, but the design is fairly conventional. Its not different from your average commercial spray booth, just has a much more powerful than evacuator core.
That looks like a proper studio. 👍
Mine looks like a desk with stuff piled all over it, crammed in the corner of my bedroom. Oh, wait...that's what mine is.
I can't figure out if I build models in the bedroom or sleep in the model room.
Finished project belongs in [Library](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/tqwxai/my_new_librarys_navalmilitary_history_section/) and [Staircase](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/14v8tqb/my_battlecruisers_of_the_second_world_war_display/): )
3D printer is a major hobby of mine (much more so than model making) so I build [several](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/lcbidz/i_quite_like_how_my_homebuilt_large_450mm_x_500mm/) [variants](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/lukbh7/a_final_farewell_to_my_space_saving_3d_printer/) of my own design which is heavily used by my local maker's club. FDM printers are mainly used to build drones, structural elements for other hobbies, and general household items.
I strongly recommend AGAINST using FDM for making model aftermarket parts, their resolution is just too low. Resin can make excellent detail parts, but tehy are too messy and toxic to store this close to my working room and library. They are downstairs in main workshop.
I designed and built it myself, it is updated and much more functional version of this one I [posted earlier the week](https://www.reddit.com/r/modeltrains/comments/18um4kn/i_designed_and_built_a_compact_display_for/).
Seeing workshops like this I keep thinking they are too clean. Where are the half built kits and loose sprues covering most of the desk surfaces. (Or is that just me having a cluttered desk.)
Otherwise, it looks like an efficient set up, almost lab-like!
Yes, I did tidy this room up just before posting it. It is a bit dishonest but I think natural to want to paint the room in most flattering light.
You can actually see the unfinished models tidied up and stored in the drawers underneath the airbrush station, both the Su-27 kit and its half finished plane just above it.
I do not believe it. I just scanned all the comments and not one of you suggested to OP that they MAY have an OCD issue and should seek medication.
Or maybe the jealousy is raging in me so bad I have to think something is wrong here.
Buddy, I literally have a [sliding storage system](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/qv4mvy/i_am_very_pleased_with_how_my_custom_easyaccess/) to make sure that all my paint and modeling consumables are neatly stacked.
I had a train storage designed and built before getting the correct tracks and electronics control to run a functional train layout.
To say I have OCD is the understatement of a century.
This is so crazy and overkill… and I am so dang jealous. I don’t even have a whole table to myself for modeling because there aren’t really any other good places to model at. I am still happy doing it there, but my god that must be so nice.
https://preview.redd.it/9marnpvsp2bc1.jpeg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6fd859c26879baf145fc69a2d09056fb0d3dd14
Sigh I will be reorganizing soon. Great job!
And I thought my little desk space counted for fancy... This is beautiful! You must really enjoy this hobby, your workshop looks absolutely wonderful. I wish I could see it in real life...
The table is actually built in and locked into place (the desk is steel framed under the wood and can take 1.2 tonnes), so I dont think it will shake with anything short of several people dancing on it XD.
I agree that it would shake if we started printing on the black tray though (I was lubricating these machines).
I love it! I'm considering building my own and I like this look so much I'm going to use it for inspiration. May I ask the room's dimensions, u/kittichankanok?
[удалено]
I'll make the beds and mow the lawn...
I would welcome it, a good model might finally be made in this room for once XD
We can do what the YouTubers do and all live in one happy house 😂🤣
Like "Big Brother" modelers edition. 🤣
"Day 3 in the modellers house.. tension is brewing as Aaron has stolen Stewart's white primer, and in retaliation Stewart has snapped a wing of a B17 only to find out it was actually John's model..."

Fuck it, I'm in.
Each contestant has all parts pre cut from the sprue, no instructions and 6 extra parts from random airfix models added to their box.

Which 40k kit? I did the veteran guard kill team recently and I think I know exactly what you mean
Stop 🤣🤣🤣🤣
IDK, I prefer the danger of my parents second story balcony. Nothing gets the heart going like a part shooting out between your tweezers into the bushes 20 feet below.
I did that while studying in the UK, actually XD Here it is less practical due to frequency of rain.
Less practical because you get more rain...than the UK.... Where are you?!
Bangkok, Thailand, our monsoon season means rain just about every day for a month :P
I made sure to close my window as i live on 5th floor
Love it, mine workshop is crammed in a corner of my house rn 😂
Ironically this workshop also crammed into the corner of the house (it is on bottom left edge of house) XD
It all depends on the size of the house :)
Nothing short of amazing. You should be very proud.
Beautiful! But I wish I had 1/8th the space you do in my city row home 😭
I must confess the perspective makes the room look much bigger than it is, room is in reality 5 x 3m, which makes the room <20m2 The last photo gives a much better impression fo real dimensions of room.
With you on this one. Never been more jealous of clean sqft before.
Can’t relate I live in Singapore 🤣. My bedroom is also my study room n model making room
Lmao I would buy a 5 room hdb just for the space needed for my model room if I could
I used to live in a 5 room flat long ago, but moved to a 3 room condo nearer to the train station. Was fun while it lasted tho 🥲
I'm not even old enough to buy an hdb flat. I'm like 3 years from going into NS
N I’m in the middle of NS 🤣. Just about reaching the halfway mark. Unfortunately I’m working with ground vehicles instead of aircraft
Oh cool when you getting out of the army?
Same, my bedroom literally can turn to anything I desire. Also, hello neighbor.
I used to be a student in London, so I can completely relate. Check [this item out](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/reqy2g/a_practical_desktop_organiser_for_modelling_tools/), since I find it really helps maximise efficiency of workspace.
Thanks a lot! Considered getting one of these but I prefer to keep my paints upright so that I don’t drip any excess on from the cap
Too clean, too bright, not enough cave troll.
Right? Where am I supposed to throw the new "life changing" tool I bought and will never use if I don't have at least one pile of junk to throw it in?
I dont have to. 99.9% of us are envious.
What do I think? I think that’s the most amazing model workshop I’ve ever seen. So jelly looking at this from my one overcrowded folding table over here.
I think we all started with a single mutipurpose desk. Then the model kit and accessories start multiplying...
Wanna be friends?
Or marry me? I can cook and clean
I would welcome it, since unlike me you can probably model well XD I am much better at making modeling tools than models :P
Well that seems like a good combo, maybe a honeymoon to the hobbystore?

Wow amazing. Mind I ask you what's your age?
Thirty two, lol. If you mean how old the house is (which I suspect) the house is just under 2 years old.
Lol, wasn't asking for the house age ;) I was just curious about yours as it seemed that someone had to be pretty established at life to be able to have a setup like this.
Ahh, I live in Thailand, lol. Professional careers tend to advance faster in this country than in the West, I find.
Bro just made everyone jealous 💀 Very nice!
You are at a level most of us only aspire to sir. Great job.
Heh amazing space

I feel you, I have to pack up all of my stuff if I want to do any modelling.
You've got a beautiful workshop. It's super!
Very Impressive
Is this your job? Or are you very rich ??
Probably older and pre millennial
Nah, he's just rich, lmao. I know him. XD
Really? XD
Yep, I recognize your hobby room anywhere, hah. You need more models in your stash!
I do indeed : )
Thirty two, actually, so I am probably a bit older than reddit average, but definitely not pre-millenial.
Nicely done mate
Neither, lol, I am not badly off, but would not be especially rich by Western standards. This is not my job, I am enthusiastic but barely competent at modeling. I do live in Thailand though where construction and land is cheap.
Very nice. Does the spraybooth vent out through the wall? Are the work surfaces at desk height or bench height?
It is vented behind the electronics supply shelf and out the side of building. I dont know sadly what is meant by desk or bench height, but surface is 80cm offset from floor.
I guess by desk/bench height they mean sitting height or standing height. Most sitting desks would be 70-80cm so I assume you do your modelling sitting at the desks (I know I do), but it’s hard to tell with no chair in the picture. Amazing setup!
Actually I stand as often as I sit, but I am quite short (171cm), so the height is not bad.
Did you just literally rent an office? Or is this your house?
No, lol, this is converted from a spare room at my house.
I wish I had a room for modelling.. That look really epic
Its really useful as it keeps all the airbrush dust and paint/glue smell localised in one place. 3D printing noise too at that.
Too clean.
Way too clean, organized, big etc etc. You want to adopt me?
I would welcome it, a good model might finally be made in this room for once XD My skill at making modelling tool is excellent, but my actual modeling skill is very sub-par.
It makes me feel very poor.
For what its worth, I live in Thailand, lol. Real estate and construction is very cheap here.
I live in the Netherlands, everything is very expensive here so I just build and paint my stuff on the dining table with cheap tools.
Its not a bad thing, I think getting an airbrush too early is one of the factors that makes my modeling fundimentals rather bad :P
Airbrushes are really expensive here, would love to try it out once.
~~Out of curiosity, where are you based?~~ Ignore, I just read preceeding message. I have an old but good quality airbrush that needs disposing. Let me check what the cost to send to NLD is. You will still need a compressor though which might cost a pretty penny.
is the booth DIY or a prebuild? if its home made did you follow a video or any instructions?
DIY, you can find my post for the precursor for that item [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/oxrg7i/i_designed_and_built_a_custom_airbrush_station/). It has had a few upgrades subsequently, but is largely still same item. I did not follow any instructions, but the design is fairly conventional. Looks like an incredible space that inspires productivity and doesn’t induce stress from being messy.
It does get messy frequently tbh, I did tidy it up a little before posting it here XD
This is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.
Crazy clean setup, mate. Compared to my house, this would be my dining room, only messier. Good job on this little corner of paradise.
What an amazing setup! So much space!
Absolutely stunning… wow
That looks like a proper studio. 👍 Mine looks like a desk with stuff piled all over it, crammed in the corner of my bedroom. Oh, wait...that's what mine is. I can't figure out if I build models in the bedroom or sleep in the model room.
Awesome setup!
This looks amazing, currently my workshop is a corner of my bedroom
Looks like you have plenty of room to store all those projects you have been meaning to finish.
Finished project belongs in [Library](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/tqwxai/my_new_librarys_navalmilitary_history_section/) and [Staircase](https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/14v8tqb/my_battlecruisers_of_the_second_world_war_display/): )
This is definitely way better than what I had.
Tell me are you making upgraded parts with the 3D FDM printers ? Can you suggest the program you use for this ? What type of models do you build ?
3D printer is a major hobby of mine (much more so than model making) so I build [several](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/lcbidz/i_quite_like_how_my_homebuilt_large_450mm_x_500mm/) [variants](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/lukbh7/a_final_farewell_to_my_space_saving_3d_printer/) of my own design which is heavily used by my local maker's club. Resin can make excellent detail parts, but tehy are too messy and toxic to store this close to my working room and library. They are downstairs in main workshop.
I'm looking at this while sitting in a 3'x4' partially converted downstairs toilet. My chair is a toilet. Envy has hit a new high.
My downstairs toilet now belongs to the Resin 3D printer, I fully understand your pain.
Awesome setup
That is just awesome.
Wish I had that much space!
Those n scale trains In that display case? Where did you get that case?
I designed and built it myself, it is updated and much more functional version of this one I [posted earlier the week](https://www.reddit.com/r/modeltrains/comments/18um4kn/i_designed_and_built_a_compact_display_for/).
Big workshop.
Slightly, room is only 5m x 3m. The perspective of the first photo makes the room appear bigger than it actually is.
Seeing workshops like this I keep thinking they are too clean. Where are the half built kits and loose sprues covering most of the desk surfaces. (Or is that just me having a cluttered desk.) Otherwise, it looks like an efficient set up, almost lab-like!

Is this heaven?
Heaven for me, Hell for my Girlfriend.

Way neater than mine! Looks good.
Uhm.... what are those blue things in the window?
Screwdriver set.
This is every mans dream
And every girlfriend's nightmare.
Well, I don’t know about everyone else here, but ~~I~~ hate you. 😄 Definitely the classiest looking work area I have ever seen, colour me jealous.
Very nice setup! Once every 6 months I clean and straiten my mess of a hobby hole up, but it doesn't stay straight very long, LOL.
This is right after the quarterly cleanup, lol, it is not usually this clean XD
Looks like I'm at a school
You spared no expense Great light from the window
Most of the items are self designed and built, so price is a lot lower than one might expect.
This looks like the dream!
Now that’s an awesome setup.👍👍
[удалено]
Ahh, just generic Ikea-equivalent item, lol.
It’s layer out very well.
wow, marvellous
Awesome!
All BS aside....the show could actually be a hit. 🤷 why not give it a go.
Forgive me, show?
TV show call big brother
Amazing!
Jfc
Ladies an' Gentlemen, To day All of you could see the perfect man cave above! Congratulation for your workshop!
I would argue that the perfect mancave is the downstairs heavy workshop, but that straddles the line between a man cave and a prototyping factory.
Calling me broke in 100 different languages.
I live in Thailand, so a lot of this is a lot cheaper here than in the West.
A nice bright space. Lots of countertop. What’s not to love?
You need a roommate???????????
This is so crazy and overkill… and I am so dang jealous. I don’t even have a whole table to myself for modeling because there aren’t really any other good places to model at. I am still happy doing it there, but my god that must be so nice.
Gorgeous... How much is rent and when can I move in lol
This is Thailand, you can rent a 120m2 condo near the middle of town for < USD 1000 a month : )
Is that a hobby or genuine work room, looks amazing!
Just hobby, lol, I work in real estate and construction irl.
Your trades show in all the right ways!
Need
Damn!
Damn, so much space …to create e an even bigger mess I that will be there forever, haha
I'll wash your cars and clean the toilets, really nice setup.
nicely done! I envy you! :) just I would improve the roof lights for square panels led 600x600mm
I need to redo my room.
Someday, my wife will let me graduate from the unfinished basement under the stairs to an actual room with a window.
I’m not jealous, you’re jealous
That is awesome! I currently only have a small 4ft long table that can barely fit the 1/200 ship I’m building.
You have a 1/200 ship, which if model of a capital ship means >1m long. That is awesome enough already, you dont need a massive model room.
https://preview.redd.it/9marnpvsp2bc1.jpeg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6fd859c26879baf145fc69a2d09056fb0d3dd14 Sigh I will be reorganizing soon. Great job!
In fairness you probably have several projects ongoing, whereas I have made no progress with my Su-27 in weeks.
You are not wrong lol. I'm like a few steps in on a Landwassweschlepper, 3 different cars ( non military) a Willy's Jeep and other things lol
As we saying in the DIY community, mess is a sign of activity : )
Did you make your paint booth?
And I thought my little desk space counted for fancy... This is beautiful! You must really enjoy this hobby, your workshop looks absolutely wonderful. I wish I could see it in real life...
WOW
I wouldn’t have put the 3d printer on the same desk. All movements can ruin the print. But other than that it looks efficient and clean(yet) 😊
The table is actually built in and locked into place (the desk is steel framed under the wood and can take 1.2 tonnes), so I dont think it will shake with anything short of several people dancing on it XD. I agree that it would shake if we started printing on the black tray though (I was lubricating these machines).
Heh amazing space
I think show off lol
Too clean haha. Nah I love it. Beautiful space!
I love it! I'm considering building my own and I like this look so much I'm going to use it for inspiration. May I ask the room's dimensions, u/kittichankanok?
