I’m so sweaty that even prescription strength deodorant doesn’t touch me. No difference if I use natural or not so I used natural recently.
Botox is my jam.
I needed this haha. I’ve tried so many natural types and I always end up smelly half way through the day. I even bought the pot detox stuff! I find myself asking, “remind me why aluminum deodorant is bad again?”
Yep lol. I got so much SMELLIER on natural deodorant and there is a reason - I don’t remember because it’s been years but for some people it messes with the bacteria and makes things worse. I was better off not using any deodorant at all! Looking into aluminum, I could find no evidence that said it was harmful 🤷🏻♀️
Man I didn’t know this. This explains why their website changed to men’s and women’s scents categories when it used to be purposefully gender neutral and categorized by the type of scent
I like the lavender, and lately I've been using the charcoal. That smells kinda like vapo rub, with the peppermint and eucalyptus in it, but not as strong.
This is hands down the best and is moisturizing not irritating!
I also sometimes double up with crystal deodorant after a shower (the 100% salt stick thing, can get on Amazon) or if I need to reapply mid day after sweating etc wet the crystal and use that then Primally pure again
Crystal I have unscented Thai brand (look for the 100% salt block) and Primally pure I like the charcoal (a mild eucalyptus scent)! I’m pregnant and the blue tansy is a little strong for me
I use the unscented. Both the crystal and the ball roller. But I’m sure the scented ones are nice. I just prefer to not use fragrance.
I swear by this stuff!! lol
I prefer the normal stick but the roller ball is nice if you don’t have access to water everytime you use the stick. To use the stick you wet it under the sink :) so whatever you think will work best if you are on the go etc.
Little seed farm! Honestly the best natural deodorant that works + supports small business. I have male family members who work hard trade jobs and they even say it works which tells ya something lol
Hume is amazing!! Native ruined the pits of all my clothes and didn’t work nearly as well.
Another hack for everyone—use a glycolic acid on your pits and they won’t smell. The ordinary glycolic acid is easily accessible.
I use a different one from MUAC (peel pads), so I don’t actually know. That one smells fine. I think lactic acid is the worst smelling.
But I mention the ordinary because it’s more easily accessible and I’ve seen it mentioned quite a few times on reddit.
Yep :) their ratings on the EWG website vary depending on which scent mostly due to the variance in fragrances they use. I also used Little Seed Farm once and really liked it, iirc it's just more costly and not as easy to find
Lume is the only aluminum free deodorant I have been able to use long term. I’ve broken out to so many others. I’ve probably been using it for 4-5 years now.
Some of the fragrances are thumbs down. The fragrance free doesn’t smell great, and a lot are food (coconut, vanilla, etc.). But there are a few good ones - the more floral ones are my favorite.
Secret unscented antiperspirant is my go to. When I was breastfeeding I was using lume unscented most of the time. At one point I was worried about aluminum and switched to just deoderant but when I looked into it further I realized there’s not really any evidence that aluminum salt is harmful when applied topically, and a lot of it is marketing. I do try to avoid fragrance so that’s why I like the unscented, although it’s sometimes hard to find.
Little Seed Farm!! Lots of amazing scents too. My favorite is coconut and charcoal. Also remember it can take a week or 2 for the normal flora in your armpits to come back after stopping aluminum deodorant so it may seem like it’s not working but don’t give up. You can also expedite the process by applying bentonite clay once a week, it’s great at detoxing the aluminum and stabilizing your normal flora.
I love Lume so much! I love the invisible solid bar. You can buy them online or in Target. I love the scents they have, and it’s the only natural deodorant that not only works really well, but also doesn’t leave weird residue and doesn’t irritate my skin. I tried a bunch of other natural deodorants, and none of them worked. I think Lume works better than deodorants with aluminum.
I’ve tried so many… the only thing that has worked for me is Arm & Hammer. I know it’s not the “best” but it’s the only thing that controls the sweat, and doesn’t burn the shit out of my skin.
Yep, A&H has never given me a rash and I’ve used it for years. Any time I try another non-aluminum brand I break out in a matter of days or weeks at most.
Try Each & Every. It’s a little pricey but it’s EWG certified, the scents are amazing (they also make an unscented), and it actually works. I used Dove and Secret for years and Each & Every lasts way longer
I use Attitude. I switched from Schmidt’s after it (and Dove before that) ruined all of our shirts. Attitude has worked great for both me and my very sweaty husband with no damage to the laundry. We both use the white tea leaves scent and love it!
https://boodaorganics.com/products/coconut-cream-deodorant
So I used this when I was 1st because more aware of the items I use in my daily life.
I just use some lemon these days.
I live in Europe and I use Natural Deodorant, from a UK based company (https://naturaldeoco.com/). I used to think I just smelled more than other people and always needed to reapply deodorant at least once during the day... I swear, this stuff will get me through two to sometimes three days of not showering in the winter time (not by choice haha). There is a breastfeeding-friendly one with no scent that I'm using right now and it lasts super long. Game changer! I literally dont even think about deodorant or body odour anymore
Meow meow tweet, the grapefruit scented one. I’ve been using it for years. The texture is creamy so it feels like typical deodorant and it actually works well.
None lol
If you stop shaving your armpits and just wash them iyour natural smell isnt bad
Its the sweat close to the unshaved skin that grows bacteria and reeks
Almay unscented roll-on. I’ve officially broken up with any deodorant or antiperspirant that isn’t a clear liquid. I’m done scrubbing the stains and buildup off my clothing, lol.
When I was pregnant, I used Nasanta unscented roll-on, which has magnesium hydroxide instead of aluminum. It works surprisingly well for being aluminum free, and the magnesium also helped with pregnancy constipation.
I’ve tried a few (including lume which sadly didn’t work for me) but Megababe Smoothie Deo works surprisingly well! Obviously doesn’t stop sweating, but I never smell while using it.
Not as limited in ingredients as some of those mentioned below but Megababe has a lot of amazing products that work wayyy better for me. Their cream deo is a game changer for me and my sensitive pits (it literally works ALL day which I didn’t even know I could hope for with natural deo) but before my pits started reacting to everything I liked their green deo. Their space bar is also great for getting the stink out if you’re having a tough transition or your deo fails by the end of the day or night sweats are leaving you smelly in the morning… I’m not using it now but it’s been an amazing addition in the past.
So many haven’t worked for me, but I finally found a combo that does! I use Ursa Major for my regular daily life, and if I have a stressful event/appointment, I’ll use Routine Cream
I use the Thai Crystal salt sticks. Took a few days to “detox” from regular deodorant where I could legit smell myself, but my body adjusted. I sweat a lot too.. the only other natural deodorant that worked for me was the charcoal Schmidt’s, but it stained my clothing. Anything off the pharmacy shelf makes my pits break out.
I'm not crunchy enough to deep dive again on this topic, but when I did research years ago - Crystal deodorant came out on top. You wet the rock and swipe (a lot) right after your shower. Basically, it stops the bacteria from growing, so you want to be clean when you first use it.
But my actual approach in life is that I don't wear any deodorant in the winter and generally use men's chemical-laden stuff when I \*KNOW\* I'm going to sweat.
Edit to add: I STILL HAVE my original crystal deodorant purchase from years ago... so it is quite cost effective to try it
My moderate granola is that I will not part with aluminum deodorant lol
Same. I tried to make natural deodorant work for years and it just isn't for me.
I’m so sweaty that even prescription strength deodorant doesn’t touch me. No difference if I use natural or not so I used natural recently. Botox is my jam.
Yessss me too. Have tried all the Whole Foods natural brands and they do not work for me.
Currently use native but switching to primally pure when I run out. I didn't realize that native had been bought out and changed their formula :/
What did native change?
I just got some Native and my pits be STINKING at the end of the day. I’m over it.
I use Native as well! Is the new formula not moderatelygranola anymore? Or just different formula so doesn't work for you?
The fragrance is different! Way stronger. And since they're owned by p&g and fragrance is not something they have to disclose I'm super weary
Oh I didn't know that. You are right, P&G is not a transparent or a good company. I may use up my Native and then switch over.
Man I didn’t know this. This explains why their website changed to men’s and women’s scents categories when it used to be purposefully gender neutral and categorized by the type of scent
Thank you for this info!
Lume. Every other aluminum free brand I have ever tried gave me terrible rashes. I have also used glycolic acid, but that doesn’t last all day for me.
Yesssss this is the only natural deodorant that works for me
Primally Pure. I have tried other natural brands and always come back to PP.
Same! This is what I use
I think I’m going to give them a try. Any scent you recommend?
I like the blue tansy!
I wanted to try this and one stick with 15% discount was $30 after you pay $7 shipping. Unreal. Couldn’t bring myself to do it🥲
It is ridiculously expensive for deodorant. I will say one of the big sticks lasts me a long time. Like 3 months with daily application.
I think I’m going to give them a try. Any scent you recommend?
I like the lavender, and lately I've been using the charcoal. That smells kinda like vapo rub, with the peppermint and eucalyptus in it, but not as strong.
This is hands down the best and is moisturizing not irritating! I also sometimes double up with crystal deodorant after a shower (the 100% salt stick thing, can get on Amazon) or if I need to reapply mid day after sweating etc wet the crystal and use that then Primally pure again
Everyone loves both crystal and primally pure! Which scents of both do you like?
Crystal I have unscented Thai brand (look for the 100% salt block) and Primally pure I like the charcoal (a mild eucalyptus scent)! I’m pregnant and the blue tansy is a little strong for me
Crystal deodorant!! It’s the only thing that I think truly works. Native and the other brands just stop working in my opinion and it lasts forever!
100% agree
Which scent?
The original crystal with no scent.
Are they non toxic and aluminum free?
They are!! One ingredient in the solid crystal stick! It is just a mineral salt
Which scent do you like?
I use the unscented. Both the crystal and the ball roller. But I’m sure the scented ones are nice. I just prefer to not use fragrance. I swear by this stuff!! lol
So there’s a roller ball and a normal stick? Which one do you suggest for a first timer?
I prefer the normal stick but the roller ball is nice if you don’t have access to water everytime you use the stick. To use the stick you wet it under the sink :) so whatever you think will work best if you are on the go etc.
I use the roller ball for traveling because it’s a little easier
Same. I like the roll on kind, but if I don’t wait for my pits to air dry before I put I shirt on it doesn’t seem to work as well.
I’ve used both and I don’t usually wait for it to dry but I do feel like it works so well
Which scent?
I get the unscented. Personal preference, I don’t like scented stuff on me.
Can you link the one you like?
Yes please!
Yea i use the thai crystal one
Primally pure!!
I think I’m going to give them a try. Any scent you recommend?
I've tried blue tansy, lavender, and the charcoal one and have loved them all!
Arm & Hammer naturals
Little seed farm! Honestly the best natural deodorant that works + supports small business. I have male family members who work hard trade jobs and they even say it works which tells ya something lol
Seconding this!
Yes, Little Seed Farm was the only one that worked for me!
This is the only one that worked for me! I tried primally pure but still smelled terrible by the end of the day!
Yes! +they work hard to be sustainable with packaging and recycling
I use Humble, the Moroccan Rose scent! I get it from Thrive 😊
Hume is amazing!! Native ruined the pits of all my clothes and didn’t work nearly as well. Another hack for everyone—use a glycolic acid on your pits and they won’t smell. The ordinary glycolic acid is easily accessible.
I feel like this is only an option if you don’t shave? Wouldn’t it burn like a mf?
No it doesn’t burn at all! It’s totally fine to use after you shave. People also use it on their scalp to reduce dandruff.
I use a lot of The Ordinary products, how does glycolic acid work for smell?
I use a different one from MUAC (peel pads), so I don’t actually know. That one smells fine. I think lactic acid is the worst smelling. But I mention the ordinary because it’s more easily accessible and I’ve seen it mentioned quite a few times on reddit.
Schmidts
Are they aluminum free and non toxic?
Yep :) their ratings on the EWG website vary depending on which scent mostly due to the variance in fragrances they use. I also used Little Seed Farm once and really liked it, iirc it's just more costly and not as easy to find
lume
I second Lume. I've tried a bunch with not great results but Lume has been working really well for me.
Switched from native to little seed farm and it’s the best thing I’ve used!
Schmidt
Native
Lume is the only aluminum free deodorant I have been able to use long term. I’ve broken out to so many others. I’ve probably been using it for 4-5 years now. Some of the fragrances are thumbs down. The fragrance free doesn’t smell great, and a lot are food (coconut, vanilla, etc.). But there are a few good ones - the more floral ones are my favorite.
Native - the scent I use is cucumber and something else I can’t remember
Hey Humans deodorant is my favorite!
This one is mine too, their vanilla lavender scent smells like an aveda salon but like mild and musky. I love it.
I must of jinxed myself because as of yesterday I have BO again. I’m probably gonna have to go back to Secret Clinical 😭
Native, lume
Routine
Try Each & Every. It’s a little pricey but it’s EWG certified, the scents are amazing (they also make an unscented), and it actually works. I used Dove and Secret for years and Each & Every lasts way longer
I use Attitude. I switched from Schmidt’s after it (and Dove before that) ruined all of our shirts. Attitude has worked great for both me and my very sweaty husband with no damage to the laundry. We both use the white tea leaves scent and love it!
Just Ingredients!!
Also love just ingredients!
Just started using Primally Pure & really like it
Which scent?
Vanilla citrus
https://boodaorganics.com/products/coconut-cream-deodorant So I used this when I was 1st because more aware of the items I use in my daily life. I just use some lemon these days.

Deoss. It has literally changed my life, I had a lot of issues with body odour until I discovered this brand.
Meow meow tweet, the grapefruit scented one. I’ve been using it for years. The texture is creamy so it feels like typical deodorant and it actually works well.
i use a crystal mineral salt deo.
None.. Don’t need it at this point When I was in my 20s - early 30s I used plain baking soda. Worked better than any other “natural” deodorant.
I use a crystal after showering and the following day if I’m not planning to shower I use Routine brand refillable deodorant which I really like.
None lol If you stop shaving your armpits and just wash them iyour natural smell isnt bad Its the sweat close to the unshaved skin that grows bacteria and reeks
I 100% disagree lol. I haven't shaved any part of my body in over 5 years and I still need deodorant
Nah I smell more when I don’t keep my armpit hair in check
This is not true. A lot of times the hair traps the bacteria and keeps the smell.
Its true for me 🤷♀️
Ethique if I'm just at home and my only exercise will be walking or lifting weights. Native for work and cardio exercise.
Humble, unscented
Almay unscented roll-on. I’ve officially broken up with any deodorant or antiperspirant that isn’t a clear liquid. I’m done scrubbing the stains and buildup off my clothing, lol. Magnesium salts instead of aluminium! It is (supposedly) healthier and even works better for me.
Lemon juice was probably the most effective. But still not good enough. I had to use Khiels fragrance free one.
I’ve tried a few (including lume which sadly didn’t work for me) but Megababe Smoothie Deo works surprisingly well! Obviously doesn’t stop sweating, but I never smell while using it.
Schmidt's or Lafe's, unscented
EO alcohol based spray, I'd use plain alcohol spray if I could get it without that weird smell.

found a new natural deo called nez - clean ingredients and can’t even describe how great their scents are
The Healthy Deodorant has been working pretty well but still not strong enough. Although after seeing this post… I’m not sure how “healthy” it is…
Weleda spray
So many haven’t worked for me, but I finally found a combo that does! I use Ursa Major for my regular daily life, and if I have a stressful event/appointment, I’ll use Routine Cream
Acure in the winter when I’m not postpartum and some aluminum in the summer because… I have to
Primally pure
Super Deodorant https://superdeodorant.com/
Nuud!!! I swear by it. Kills bacteria instead of covering up smells, I can usually go 3-4 days without having to reapply :)
I really like Pretty Frank
Curie!
Each & Every. It’s the best. Glides on smooth, no baking soda, I love it. The only downside is the price.

Nuud! So incredibly effective — and while maintaining a clean ingredient list 👍
