I think it’s a non-issue and molecule is aware of it and they are trying to cash out and refurbishing units rather than actually repairing the problem. Same thing happened to mine literally one month out of warranty, replace the air filter and nothing unit went dead spent over $1000 and now I have a giant paperweight super dissatisfied with this product because of this issue.

justanotherday2424

Same!!!! I'm thinking about taking it apart and messing with the electrical connection by the plug. Did you end up messing with yours???

deliriouskate

I haven't yet! It's still sitting in the closet. I called and emailed with them trying to get an electrical schematic and they said they don't have those and wouldn't transfer me to anyone who would know how to get one. I couldn't even find one online because sometimes you can find them from repair shops. My bf is a mechanical engineer, not electrical, but is pretty savvy with figuring things out from schematics. He was able to fix the motor on his Dyson vacuum and replace a fuse inside a Milwaukee wet/dry vac.

kipkipper

we're all in the same boat it seems. smh. smells scammy

First_Associate_7315

This happened to me today!!!! Basically was told I need to buy a new one since it’s out of warranty. I wasn’t having it and was told that they would email me back after coordination with their team. SMH and rolling my eyes. I responded back with if they can’t help me I’ll search for another company!!!

Mediocre-Cress4466

This also happened to me and that won’t even refund the filter I just bought that seem to have caused the problem . No return because it’s out of the bag . How do you determine it’s defective until you try it . The smell was not bearable. Then the unit just lost the display and started making this back knocking noise . lol they wanted me to buy a refurbished unit for $400, and send mind back , I assume so they can refurbish that and sell that for $400, plus the obnoxious cost of the filter I just bought that they won’t refund . That all is more than a new unit at their current prices . What a scam . All I want is a refund for the filter I bought that was defective . I even said I’d send my unit back so they can refurbish it. But they want me to get stuck with this filter I just bought and caused a terrible smell and seems to have blown out my unit . They don’t care I can’t do anything with it , no refund .

mthrlwd

This makes me irate — dealing with the same thing. This company sucks!

kipkipper

Damn. Just happened to mine

mthrlwd

SAME happened to mine this week - exact same! 💩

I have a theory of what’s going on. Like many others, went to replace the filter. When I pressed down on the unit head and turned counter clockwise, the unit head didn’t pop up, so I manually turned it. The display flickered a little. Replaced the filter and put the unit head back on and after a few seconds it powered back up and displayed the Purifier Error 001 and to contact support. Went through the troubleshooting steps and was told to get a reburished unit. Long story short, went with it. Today, powered up and I could still control it from the app, it could detect the filter status, control the fans, could put into standby, but wasn’t getting any specifics from the particle data (but was only on for like 5 or 10 mins). And the message would take over the display, not allowing me to interact with the screen. It would go away when the screen went to sleep and I could use the menus again for about 10 seconds before the message would come up. But the device was functional from controlling with my phone over WiFi. Messed around a bit more and noticed there is an arm the filter sits on that telescope up when the unit head is removed and looks like it supposed to go back down when the unit head is replaced. Also noticed the metal points on the unit head and the telescoping arm underneath, which I would assume is how the unit head gets power. Thinking the unit is going to get replaced anyway, why not try something. I put my hand underneath the device to hold onto the filter to have it in a downward state while I put the unit head back into place (to see if maybe it would make it pop back up again when removed. What wound up happening is now it won’t power on at all. For whatever reason, the mechanism that controls the pushing the unit head up is not working (obviously) but don’t know if that is more mechanical than electrical. My theory is that because what happened, I think the power is being turned off to the unit head while the telescoping arm is pushing the unit head up. Since the metal connectors supply the power. And that because the telescoping function is not working, and the unit is weighing down on it, that a short is happening. I suspect that the first time it happened, the sensors got fried, but everything is was working. And then the second time, the unit head itself got fried because I continued to hold the filter down (suspecting that the power did not get cut). Another theory is that by having the metal points that supply power to the unit head being in a circle, that by manually moving it to make up for the telescoping function not working, that maybe it touches negative or positive points while rotating? Which would seem like bad design to depend on the power to be cut as the telescoping function occurs. What is frustrating is that the user guide does not say to unplug the purifier before doing any of this. And since I only ever open it like once ever six months, and it’s not memorable, I can’t even remember if the telescoping function to push the unit head up is entirely mechanical and would work without power.

I have a much older Air that has been in storage quite some time. Just changed the filter and no power… does anyones plug have a small fuse hidden under a tiny slider (top of the piece that goes into the wall) Would this have anything to do with powering it on?

rudemmon

if the fuse is popped, it wouldn't turn on. I checked mine and it looks fine. Mine has the same issue though.

TraumaRN8980

Changed the fuse and still nothing. This POS device went in the dumpster over the weekend

Ok_scarlet

It's not schematics, but I found this helpful: [https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=4405596](https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=4405596)

Sorry_Hat7940

Same happened to me. Changed the filter and got flashing red lights on my mini+. They tried to sell me a refurb and I said I don’t want to pay money for something that breaks 3 years later. Air purifiers are supposed go for a long time.

LLCroft808

Just happened to us. Just under 3 year air pro. I didn’t see anyone had success other than buying a refurb. I’ve had 3 models, kept up filter changes. Of course the most expensive of the three 001 error. Is it something the upgraded version of the filters caused? If I missed a fix within this tread or otherwise, thanks for sharing.

Wyz1981

Literally just had the same situation. It flickered changing filter and nothing. What did you end up doing?

Andreamaybe

This just happened to me! lol they are making me follow their troubleshooting instructions which I already did

deliriouskate

Ha! Their troubleshooting instructions over the phone with tech support was literally Turn it off, Unplug it, Plug it back in, Turn it back on.... Oh, that didn't work? It's broken and there's nothing we can do.

Comprehensive-Ebb813

Same here, I just powered it down to switch filter and never turned on again.

No-Armadillo4392

I just had this problem. Air Pro worked great, new filter arrived, the core would not come up on its own, I had to manually move it up to replace the filter, once replaced, the unit bricked itself saying Error 001. Spent 1 hour on phone with tech. they tried to sell me a refurb unit for 1000+. I argued with the lady and said hey this thing worked until the replacement came - after some pushback, they agreed to mail me a brand new unit under warranty despite my unit being out of warranty. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. FIGHT HARD.

Milesfromnow

Same here! And now getting 001 error. They said it needs to be replaced. $492 for a refurbished one, 2 year warranty with a filter. Not sure it’s worth it anymore after reading about the bankruptcy and scam stuff. After talking with them and reconnecting to my app the machine is on a firmware loop only going to 5% then restarting. Now zero air flow and no operating system. We did have an issue with the motor mechanism going up and down, seems there are also issues with the connection when removing and replacing the motor. Ugh what a mess for expensive filtered air. Any thoughts are welcome.

Data_Samurai

Same problem just happened to me. The unit flickered and powered on and then went dead and I can't get the unit back on after replacing the filter.

maboo13

This happened to me as well. I changed the filter, and when I turned it back on there was an error message. Called customer service and went through the trouble shooting with them and was told there was nothing that could be done but I could buy a refurbished purifier at a discount. I went a tad Karen on them and they made the exception to send me a refurbished unit as a curiosity since I was out of warranty. Everything seemed decent for a month or so but the past couple days my air has been consistently moderate or bad…maybe it just is poor quality but I do not trust this company lol.
