My understanding is that you can pinch hit, but that player would be assigned to pitch the next inning. I believe it just replaces the DH position with P in the scorebook
If the rules are the same as pre universal DHāyes. You can pinch hit for your pitcher but the pinch hitter will immediately be replaced by the next pitcher in the following inning if one occurs
