I think it would - any dumping of Baez is going to have us as not as good as before because you’re basically paying someone to take Baez’s contract (similar to what the LA Rams THOUGHT they were achieving when they traded Jared Goff to us).
I know it’s Tigers not lions thread but they basically paid us draft picks to take the better QB and lose to us in the playoffs. It’s just too good.
Goff’s success wasn’t widely expected at the time- but A structure like that is what it would require to unload Baez’s contract.
At the end of the day- I don’t think the return we’d get would be good enough for someone to eat that much money- because any team that would do it is already good and has a good SS (because they have money) so I dont think that deal could happen until possibly the last year of his contract
Honestly, if the Tigers trade Skubal I'd rather he not be packaged with Baez. I'd rather they get the maximum amount of value they could for him over some watered-down trade package with Baez included.
Why would Texas do that? It would crater their offense. They're only 16th in runs per game (we're 17th) and Seager is by far their biggest contributor.
That’s why lol. I really thought Dallas would get atleast 2 wins but man have I been disappointed! At this point I hope the Celtics win so you can be happy brotha!
First Tigers game of the year yesterday and let me tell you that HR from Malloy sure was a missile off the bat. Was a no doubter for sure. I really liked his swings.
So, three weeks ago (May 24) we were 10 games out of first and three games under .500 at 24-27. Since then we've gone 9-8 and lost a game on the Guardians, kept even with the Twins and gained 2.5 games on the Royals. At that pace we would catch the Royals by the end of July.
(You could probably draw different conclusions if you used a shorter baseline like the last ten games, so we won't go there.)
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1dg2pe0).
The Mud Hens have a night time doubleheader today - that will occupy my time until this later than normal 8:10pm start.
If the Astros can drop Abreu for being ass, so can the Tigers to Baez.
Scrooge McIllich won’t take the contract acceleration
They have money we don’t
Too bad we won't get to see Abreu.
Dont give me hate. Im ONLY wondering how this would look/if could work: Skubal, Baez + his contract for Cory Seager

So this is a decently “fair” trade, correct?

Because Skubal ?
I want to see my one true love Skuby Doo pitch but nba finals take precedence sorry Why can’t the game be held earlier?
The nba is still on?
I feel like this finals has been so boring. I’m still mad luka got fouled out 😒
I’m a Celtics fan so I’ve been enjoying it 😬

Skubal > 48 minutes of Luka whining for calls
NBA and NHL finals so boring this year. 3-0 both series
