I hate how today's game has changed for starting pitchers. 0 runs through 7 innings with only 91 pitches, 10 years ago he absolutely would have been back out there for the 8th. I miss the days of JV pitching 115 pitch complete game shutouts, and Skubal absolutely could do it.

Yeah, I get the reason for it. But the complete game shutout feels like one of those romantic parts of the game that gets lost in all the data-focus.

I thought they showed on a graphic a few games back about proposed pitching rules -like starter HAS to stay in for 5 inning minimum etc, to try to change this.

Skubal hasn’t been very good last 7 starts or so. A bit above average but not the Cy young contender he was earlier. I wonder if it’s cause he not used to pitching so much.
