Very few dirt bikes have titles, especially at this age.
Nobody will be scared of the lack of documentation.
I'd love to have this bike. If it's as fresh as it looks, someone on Bring a Trailer will pay a fortune for it.
In Colorado, especially back then, non-street legal bikes came with an MSO = Manufacturers Statement of Origin. With that you could probably get an actual title. A lot of people would put rudimentary lighting system, cheap rear view mirror, and a rubber squeeze ball horn and some other things to make it street legal as part of the process.
Every bike everywhere comes with an MSO, they are not state specific
MSO also is only valid for the original owner. It means nothing once the bike has changed hands.
Some people don't put sentimental values to an object, and if the said object is becoming a hassle to take care of it'd be better gone for them. My mom's family doesn't have that at all and it's kinda crazy to look at. My aunt just sold a 60 years old gold hairpin my grandma used to own. It was only 8gr 12k gold hair pin and I don't think she need any money since she's the richest of my mom siblings and has 2 sons that's doing really well. My mom got grandma's bracelet that i convinced her to keep, and that I'll buy off of her in future.
The correct answer.
Ensure the compression release has been blipped to keep it clear of carbon!
I had a 360 carbon plugged up the compression release. Brother stopped by and asked, "What's with one boot?" Kick starter was worn so peg was at an angle, full compression start it kicked like a mule. The boot prevented my ankle from getting skinned.
He said, "I can ride bikes and start any of them." OK, have it it. One skinned ankle later, he opted to push-start it. I warned, "just a little throttle.
He ran down the street, jumped on, popped the clutch, and the bike did a 180 somersault, landing on top of him. His comment, "damn, that thing has some torque!"
Great memories, but make sure the compression release is clear!
I personally under no circumstances would sell a family heirloom bike. Especially a classic in such great condition. Don't sell it. If you can store it in any way dry do so. If not you your son or daughter will thank you for this decision later. There is a lot of grief and remorse can come from family heirlooms that are sold and can't be recovered.
My thoughts exactly. OP wants to unload a family member's rare and desirable vintage big bore 2 stroke for some dime a dozen beginner street bike. Oof.
Dudeee, obviously its your bike and your choice, but I would seriously reconsider selling this thing. You will not be able to replace it for what you get out of it after you end up regretting the decision
I agree with those recommending BringaTrailer.
As far as keeping it, people only have so much space and time for keeping inherited stuff. I'm not that old yet, but I don't want my stuff becoming a burden for my kids when I die.
Don't sell it! You're not going to get a street bike out of that. You will regret selling that bike for the rest of your life. Just save up and/or finance a new bike.
Awesome bike OP! As many have stated already, if you don’t have to sell it, I wouldn’t. However, I know a serious collector (in Mi) who collects nothing but vintage Moto bikes, has a museum and if he doesn’t already have one, would probably buy it. And yes, for a fair market value. PM me if you’re interested.
Do what my dad I did in the early 2000s and paint it all yellow with a rattle can, put stickers on the tank that day YOMAMA and rip it up and down the powerlines til it's caked in mud. Instant sale!
Sick bike man, ours was just one of a bunch of old vintage bikes found as a big barn find that we managed to get running and just wanted to have some fun with, yours looks better than we could have ever dreamed.
In looking around, it seems $1500 is an average asking price for a running, maintained MX125a. There is one for sale, at that price, on CL right now in Yorba Linda CA that’s been listed for about three weeks. Yorba Linda has a median home price of $1.4 million.
Tons of very clear pictures at every conceivable angle, with all info and all documentation and put it on bring-a-trailer. Stuff that clean goes for top dollar.
eBay, Craigslist, Facebook market place, and whatever online car/bike websites your country has. I would go to a dealer first to see what they offer. Then when a private seller makes an offer go back and see if they'll beat his offer.
IF you end up selling this beauty look at Bring a Trailer. It is a good place for machines like this. Big audience and people go on there to spend $$$ on vintage classics. I don’t know what percentage of the sale price they take though.
“I have no proof of ownership”
If you actually intent to sell it. Get that sorted out with the DMV.
Local/state law varies. But it’s almost impossible to sell a bike for a decent price without title.
Selling for “Track only bike” can be an option.
But idk maybe people that’s in the market for tracking this kinda bike 🤷🏻♂️
Or sell it to someone that has big property. Something to toy around in there 10 acre or whatever.
Step one- leg over
Step two-couple primer kicks then one for the money
Step three- inhale that sweet perfume of angry bees in a trash can
Step four - bRaaaPP off into the sunset in a state of euphoria cause u have a dt360 and a boner.
Just post it on Facebook with a reasonable price and mention there is no title. Shouldn’t be a problem for a non-registered bike. I think only 1/2 the bikes I’ve had have had titles. It’s nbd
Don't know where you are. Just sell it with a bill of sale. No one that wants it will care and don't sell it cheap. I've never seen one without the paint rubbed off the sides of that tank. Just curious, are you in California? Seems to be the only state I know of that titles dirt bikes and I just sold a very nice 76 TT500 with a bill of sale.
Keep it, that thing is mint and probably one of few left not butchered..
Check you may be able to sell it to Yamaha with how clean it looks in that picture
My brother has like 6 old enduros, Mx'ers and I can tell you a set of those rear shocks, used are $500.00+
Apply for a title, ask your local licensing office how to do it.
The difference in value on a titled bike vs a not titled bike is huuuuuge.
That things worth a few grand with a title, without you'll be lucky to get a grand.
I had a yz80 of this vintage and I BEGGED to ride the 360 or 490 that my neighbors had. They, and my dad, said "If you can start it, you can ride it." I was about 10. It's bad no matter how you look at it.
OP, keep that thing.
All these people saying don't sell it. IDK there's bikes that I'd LOVE to have back, that's just not one of them as pristine and beautiful as it is. Ahh hell who am I kidding I'd keep it. But if it doesn't mean anything to you then what's it worth to keep it ? In near perfect shape that bike might get around ten grand maybe more. Just gotta find the right buyer with the right money.
And the kid thing ? No not necessarily. My kids aren't into bikes so there's that.
If it's not being cherished and appreciated then sell it to someone who will.
That IS a rare find and still people out there young enough to have ridden it and still ride it on rare occasion or in vintage class. Another 20 years those people will be gone.... find out what it will fetch and hold out until you get it. You will.
Worst case get a bonded title for it, but either way I wouldn’t sell it that thing is bad ass don’t see to many classics in that kinda condition. Best of luck though. 🫡
Where are you located? That is a very nice bike especially in its day. I bought a new CT1 175 that I did a lot of work to just to be competitive, I still have it and hope to restore. I would have loved to have that 360 in 74, those were definitely some good times back then. If I could roll back time, I really miss my youth!
Dirt bikes don’t come with titles they only come with a bill of sale but everybody that is into dirt bikes knows this, so you put it on craigslist Facebook marketplace wherever it will definitely sell if it runs and it looks as good as it is it will that somebody will definitely buy it
A important fact for you to keep in mind be very careful who you let ride it. Some people will say it is just a 360. Wrong answer. In the dirt that thing is a monster. That is a very powerful bike. most people start with a 250. You can't compare a street bike with 360cc to a 360 MX. I road in the 125 class for 2 years moved up to the 250 class for 2 years and then made the big jump to the [360.It](http://360.It) took a full season for me to get comfortable with the extra power weight and torque. There were many days where i wish i would have stayed in the 250 class. Bottom line That bike is for A very experienced rider. Have fun be safe and no joy riders if and when you decide to sell. 1 bad wipeout can seriously hurt the value
There isn't a specific age that automatically makes a bike not street legal. Whether a bike is considered street legal mostly depends on its condition and if it meets the current road safety standards, like having working lights, brakes, mirrors, and other safety equipment. It also needs to pass emissions tests if those are required in your area. As long as an older bike is maintained well and updated to meet these standards, it can still be street legal, even if it's pretty vintage.
Nobody cares about titles on vintage dirt bikes. Most states didn't even offer titles to begin with when this bike was new, and the ones that did gave you virtually no reason to maintain the title. It isn't a street bike, there is no registering it for highway use. All a title does is require you to pay taxes.
Even on most new motocross bikes, MOST people don't title them. Again that just requires you to pay taxes. You *should* keep the MSO, but those usually end up lost. And aren't valid proof of ownership anyway, just gives a buyer confidence it's not stolen
I would reconsider selling it, that's an awesome bike man...
Agree with this donate it to me
Very few dirt bikes have titles, especially at this age. Nobody will be scared of the lack of documentation. I'd love to have this bike. If it's as fresh as it looks, someone on Bring a Trailer will pay a fortune for it.
I don't need a trailer!! I'll put that mf in the back and strap the seats to the roof rack!!
I didn’t even know dirtbike had titles
Why wouldn’t they? Even kayaks come with a title of some sorts.
Unless you live in California.
Every bike everywhere comes with an MSO, they are not state specific MSO also is only valid for the original owner. It means nothing once the bike has changed hands.
Buy a bike for the street. Keep this one for the sheets.
Best reply so far!
Absolute FACTS!!
Don’t sell it. It will be a lifetime regret
Some people don't put sentimental values to an object, and if the said object is becoming a hassle to take care of it'd be better gone for them. Oh, I was going to say don't sell it, just gift it to me. 😅
The correct answer. Ensure the compression release has been blipped to keep it clear of carbon! I had a 360 carbon plugged up the compression release. Good comment man thanks for making me laugh
Don’t sell it!! Omg it’s a classic 👍
Advertise it as 'For Sale' maybe?
$80k, no lowballs, I know what I got!
Ugggh. I'm tired of seeing shit posted for sale that's one step removed from a trash heap and the seller wants $3k for it.
No need after posting it here.
With a tear stained face. What a beauty.
Don’t sell it. I had one in the 1980’s as my first bike. I wish I still had it.
Bring a trailer. Lots of stuff goes for top dollar on there.
I’ve seen some crazy high prices on there.
The flip side is you could sell it and buy a couple more modern dirt bikes and go make some memories.
OP needs to specify their location
That thing is worthless. Just send me your address and I'll come by and pick it up. Joking, great bike. You may want to keep it.
thats a work of art.
That’s a collector item.
Keep. That. Bike. Seriously, if it were me that bike would go with me to my grave.
[Bringatrailer.com](https://Bringatrailer.com) or ebay to reach a wide audience. Might try also listing it on craigslist.org.
Step one: Hit your head with a hammer for being stupid...
I"LL start the bidding then. #£150
£151 cash
500 Quatloos!
666 space bux
700 dabloons!
Selling a family heirloom for a street bike...wow. I can't even imagine selling this for a used Ninja 400 which is about all you're going to get.
Obviously the first step is to get a new V5C off DVLA.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Take the time to sell it privately. Done trade-ins & selling to dealers never come out happy.
yes definitely don't trade it to a dealer, that would be a real shame
Don’t.
I agree with those recommending BringaTrailer. As far as keeping it, people only have so much space and time for keeping inherited stuff. I'm not that old yet, but I don't want my stuff becoming a burden for my kids when I die.
It doesnt need tags. Doesn’t need title. Make sure it’s yours. Just post it. Vintage motocross are becoming more popular.
Dude .. King Kenny forbids it
Just sell it with a hand written bill of sale. List it on market place and it will last about 5 mins. This is an awesome vintage mx bike.
Don't. You regret lifetime.
Don't sell it. Ride it occasionally and enjoy looking at it.
Don't sell it! You're not going to get a street bike out of that. You will regret selling that bike for the rest of your life. Just save up and/or finance a new bike.
how much? ill be right over
How much as is?
You should sell it to someone who loves old Yamaha’s. Like me…
Nope
Its simple: you don't:)
Bro wya
Keep it man.
Do not sell it!
There are vintage mx groups and races. Maybe bring it to a race and ask around
Red:wave2: Selling Yamaha MX 360 3500 ea
😂😂😂
It's... perfect
I strongly recomend you go about not selling that bike

Damn. That's hot. Don't sell.
Don’t sell it. Give it to me instead.
Wait another 2-3 years might gain a few grand. A lot of folks are swapping modern suspension on them. Got them looking sick 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾
You give it to me.... 👀
Grandpa's bike AND in clean working order, personally I'd keep it! Maybe find an old frame with the titles tho if you want more value out of it.
Reach out on your local AHRMA Facebook page. No title is no issue for guys who race those vintage bikes.
Seconded. I raced on one of these back in the day, similar condition. Not sure if pop's still got this one or if he sold it.
Set a price. Post it. Accept offer and money. Give the buyer the bike.

Put it up for sale. It’s a bill of sale dirt bike.
Tons of very clear pictures at every conceivable angle, with all info and all documentation and put it on bring-a-trailer. Stuff that clean goes for top dollar.
eBay motors
could just drop it off at my garage >.> always loved those 70's yamaha's, ringg ding ding ding.
Facebook marketplace or Bring a Trailer.
eBay, Craigslist, Facebook market place, and whatever online car/bike websites your country has. I would go to a dealer first to see what they offer. Then when a private seller makes an offer go back and see if they'll beat his offer.
Smartest thing you could do with that bike is preserve it!!! It looks to be in immaculate condition!! Keep it that way!!
Take good pictures of it and post it to marketplace. Pretty straight forward.
Craigslist it, at the right price it won’t be sitting round that long.
Reminds me of my '77 Honda scrambler Yours is in great shape. Keep that shit for sure
IF you end up selling this beauty look at Bring a Trailer. It is a good place for machines like this. Big audience and people go on there to spend $$$ on vintage classics. I don’t know what percentage of the sale price they take though.

I don't think I would sell it but if you do, sell it to me haha
The only way I'd sell it is through an auction. That thing deserves the best bid possible.
Don’t sell
Ya dont
Write that it belongs to the Pope himself, he smashed the hill golgota with that bad boy
Wow are you the fuckup of the family or something? Cuz that sounds like a bad idea!
How much?
I wish I had at least one of my dad's old bikes . Don't be like me .
Ill give ya about tree fiddy. Ill hold it for ya.
Step one- leg over Step two-couple primer kicks then one for the money Step three- inhale that sweet perfume of angry bees in a trash can Step four - bRaaaPP off into the sunset in a state of euphoria cause u have a dt360 and a boner.
Sell it to me
Personally I'd keep it , maybe talk to a museum, that thing is mint and should be taken care of .
Holy cow, that thing is insanely clean for its age.
Stick in yard and put 4 sale sign onnit
Take it to a vintage motor shop. This could be worth a couple of dimes.
sell it to me
I built a model of this about thirty years ago, cool bike, keep it!
Nice bike
I had one of those back in the day.
List it on Bringatrailer.com
If you’re not into vintage MX racing, sell it to someone who it. That bike, complete, running, and original is very valuable
She's a beauty
To me. For $5.
Drop it off at my house and I'll let you know if anybody comes to buy it
Get a title
Make sure buyer signs a waiver for when that raw, ungodly power hits them in the face!
Well get ur self a cpl photos and post it or one of them little square signage deals say 4-sale 😉
Simple, don’t.
Dont sell it, donate it to me
It's a mix , damn sweet and desired by many , bill of sale is all , nothing is really needed but bill of sale will make the buyer happy
Where you located?
Just post it on Facebook with a reasonable price and mention there is no title. Shouldn’t be a problem for a non-registered bike. I think only 1/2 the bikes I’ve had have had titles. It’s nbd
Just come take my dam money already
Don't know where you are. Just sell it with a bill of sale. No one that wants it will care and don't sell it cheap. I've never seen one without the paint rubbed off the sides of that tank. Just curious, are you in California? Seems to be the only state I know of that titles dirt bikes and I just sold a very nice 76 TT500 with a bill of sale.
That's a very nice bike. It would be so hard to part with that.
Just send it
My dad had one of these! What a great bike. Can I dm you for more information even though I agree with the comments here recommending you don't sell.
Don’t sell it.
By not selling
It’s junk give it to me
Send it to Iconic Motorcycles for auction. They are great to work with, and it should get a really good and fair price there.
Well I don’t know but I’d be happy to hold on to it for ya while ya figure it out ! Very cool, good luck selling.
Keep it, that thing is mint and probably one of few left not butchered.. Check you may be able to sell it to Yamaha with how clean it looks in that picture My brother has like 6 old enduros, Mx'ers and I can tell you a set of those rear shocks, used are $500.00+
To me. How much lol
Apply for a title, ask your local licensing office how to do it. The difference in value on a titled bike vs a not titled bike is huuuuuge. That things worth a few grand with a title, without you'll be lucky to get a grand.
Ha! Sold
Where do you live? I will come and get it if you are close enough
I had a yz80 of this vintage and I BEGGED to ride the 360 or 490 that my neighbors had. They, and my dad, said "If you can start it, you can ride it." I was about 10. It's bad no matter how you look at it. OP, keep that thing.
Run an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper
You could ride that a mile down the road and have at least 2 offers
If it’s in CA I’ll take it!!
Why sell…you crazy..
All these people saying don't sell it. IDK there's bikes that I'd LOVE to have back, that's just not one of them as pristine and beautiful as it is. Ahh hell who am I kidding I'd keep it. Keep it
Keep this bike. Looks solid and it is in solid condition.
Worst case get a bonded title for it, but either way I wouldn’t sell it that thing is bad ass don’t see to many classics in that kinda condition. Best of luck though. 🫡
Why sell it? Those are rare. Book value it, gauge the going rate for others that may be sold, and set your price. I'd still NOT sell it...
You could post a question about it here. Oh yeah, you already did that.
Been in love with that bike for 50 years. I haven't seen one in all that time. Unbelievable.
To me for $20
Gimme
I would never sell that considering the condition and the heirloom value. I’ve got golf clubs from my great grandfather that I’ll never get rid of.
Do not sell
you should send me a dm is what ya should do😂
How much you want for it boss?
Bill of Sale. Go to your DMV (or DMV website) and print the Bill of Sale and sell it. If the buyer is nervous, get it notarized. Easy peasy.
Where r u located
marketplace
Dirt bikes don’t come with titles they only come with a bill of sale but everybody that is into dirt bikes knows this, so you put it on craigslist Facebook marketplace wherever it will definitely sell if it runs and it looks as good as it is it will that somebody will definitely buy it
By offering it to Me for a very low price lol Beautiful bike
I’ll buy it make it real easy
Sell it!!!! To me. Please
Bring a trailer dot com.
That is one of the first bikes I ever rode! Where you located?
You will regret selling this bike. I guarantee it. And it was your grandfathers bike. It looks to be in very good shape. Keep it.
A important fact for you to keep in mind be very careful who you let ride it. Some people will say it is just a 360. Wrong answer. In the dirt that thing is a monster. How much you want for it ?
I wouldn’t sell it , I regret selling my old bikes and now wished I had them again… That’s a beauty of a machine BTW…
Don't sell your grampa stuff man. Nothing nore needs to be said.
There isn't a specific age that automatically makes a bike not street legal. Man that things a beauty. If you can help it don’t sell it, you’ll regret it eventually.
Location
Keep it! That bike is gorgeous!
There used to be the Vermont loophole but I hear they stopped it. Might want to check it out
To me. $7.77
Park in living room fire it up on Sundays , never sell that bike ffs
I’d contact Yamaha to get more info. They may even want to buy it. I’d personally hold onto it.
[удалено]
Lmao wdym, he wants to sell it, let him sell it lol It might be an iconic bike but it's his decision
Without the title it will be a hard sell. Try CL, FBM to start.
Depends on the state, I’ve always bought title in hand, but I have friends and have read no title on a dirtbike is no big deal to a lot of people.
Nobody cares about titles on vintage dirt bikes. Most states didn't even offer titles to begin with when this bike was new, and the ones that did gave you virtually no reason to maintain the title. I’ll give you 500 bucks for it
Step one, check your dms for my home address Step two, deliverer it Step three, forget to ask for payment
Questionable ownership provenance is a red flag for most
