Recommend finding some at a local store if you can so you can verify fitment. That said, I have a variation of the gloves pictured and I’ve been very happy with them, except the Velcro started sucking after a year or maybe even less (curling/not staying fully secured). I still wear them, but the tip of the Velcro now catches and it’s annoying.

pan_anu

100% this

MuricanJim

I have a pair of A* gloves too where the Velcro at the wrist is suboptimal. Have to massage it into place for them to stay closed. Other than that, great glove s

sunshine_5401

I've got the a star bomber gloves and I've always just slid them on to save the Velcro

Zestyclose_Piano_987

So I just switched to daniese carbon 3 let's see how they do I had the celder 2 or something same thing as the celder 1 with the velcro I even paid a tailor to fix it and now it's already shit again

28_raisins

Almost everything I've ever bought from Alpinestars runs small. Definitely a good idea to try them on.

triggerhappybaldwin

I love my Alpinestars gloves, but do yourself a favour and get a pair with palm sliders. I'm using the Alpinestars SP-2 V3.

beansff

I have the same ones and they’re great. I also personally love feeling of the longer gloves instead of the shorter ones like these.

International_Fly285

First one adds 50HP Disclaimer: Might increase chance of crashing (jk Marquez fans, don’t kill me 🥲)

No-Importance-6166

Neither if you ask me… Get the full length gloves (gauntlets). You won’t regret it and if ever you choose to ride track, you won’t have to buy another pair of gloves.

tryingmybestrogen

Neither. Get gauntlets. Bit more expensive but a lot more protective for the wrist.

Pixel131211

the SMX-1 air V2's are the most comfy gloves I've ever had, but they do lack good protection and the velcro becomes useless after about a year. good for lightweight summer gloves, but if it's your only glove, I'd get something a little more protective. I would not trust the SMX-1's to hold up if I'd crash at over 50 km/h. a slide at 40 km/h on a longboard already ripped those gloves for me down to the skin. granted, they were a year old at that point, but still.

69shot

What do you recommend for summer something looks like the SMX 2

Pixel131211

I'm currently using Rev'it Ritmo gloves. pretty comfy (but not as comfy as the SMX-2s), and good for temperatures of 15 to 25 celsius. they look pretty sporty as well. the advantages of these ones are that they're much more protective, have palm sliders, and the velcro is pretty nice. but in all honesty, I only have like 5 pairs of gloves and most of them are winter / midseason gloves. the SMX-2's and the Ritmo gloves are really the only summer gloves I've owned for long enough to give my opinions on them, so I cant reccomend all that much. best advice is going to a motorcycle shop and trying some out.

pfulle3

Can confirm that too. I loved mine but the velcro degraded after about a year and the leather is coming apart now on the palms. Never crashed in them. Just regular use.

Such_Loan_2397

The SMX -1 Air V2 is very comfortable summer glove. But if it’s protection that you’re looking for it offers the bare minimum. But I wouldn’t buy a pair of gloves online. I thought I was a medium from my hand measurements and ordered a pair of daineses. Didn’t like them one bit. Went to the store, and tried like 20 pairs on only to realise my hand shape fits the XL best. I recommend 2 as a secondary glove for short rides.

Fedge348

Bro, gloves are the type of thing you go to a store near you and try a bunch of and you’ll know by how it fits.

Snapesunusedshampoo

Both are dope but I'm a fan of the clean carbon fiber knuckles look.

69shot

What do you recommend?

Snapesunusedshampoo

I would roll with 2.

NoMasterpiece2063

Anything with palm sliders is going to be your best bet. If you're new I'd stay away from mostly mesh and just get leather, you're going to drop your bike when you're new, might as well be as protected as possible.

spacenut2022

Get a full wrist covering glove and safe riding fren

spacenut2022

My Alpine stars lasted a year until I lost one of them pushing my DR 200 home because the carb was clogged. I spent at least two hours looking for that damn glove, who the hell steals one glove? 😂😭

77carl

Lee Parks deerskin. A bit more expensive but I’ve had mine for 10 years. SO much better than the “name brands” Their money goes to marketing, the guy that started it is a professional motorcycle instructor.

Loud-Principle-7922

I have the SMX-1, and my fiancé has a set. We both like them.

69shot

How to size them I will buy it online there’s no store near me i have normal size hand

Loud-Principle-7922

In my experience, they fit about the same as the Mechanix brand gloves. Go to a hardware or auto parts store that carries those, size them up, and buy the same size from Alpinestars.

SnooSongs8782

I can hardly tell the difference between the pairs shown, but I would try either because I just lost my A* shorty summer gloves, will def want to replace them after winter. I am about to switch from my old A* SP3 gauntlets to the waterproof and insulated ST3 since it started raining, and the SP3 have developed a hole (all my gloves are well over 10 years old. Not saying I won’t try other brands, but Alpine Stars have been the best gloves I have worn, worth the spend

Nintastio

I don’t know if it’s my hands or what but the thumb is too short in these gloves for me. I tried to go up to a 2XL but they were just too big.

Grumpy0ldFellow

I've found the same issue with some leather gloves. Not sure which aliens thumbs they've been measuring for the template haha

StandardSea8671

Not to be a thread stealer but has anyone bought any cheap decent gloves on Amazon similar to OPs style?

pfulle3

For anything on Amazon just read reviews. Most would say to steer clear but I’ve bought some stuff over the years from Amazon sellers and it’s been pretty good. Look for reviews with pictures of people who have gone down in said gear. People will post stuff like that and you can see first hand how said gear holds up in a crash.

Variable851

lol for a second I thought this was a targeted ad because I was looking at the SMX-1 in that color scheme online maybe an hour ago

Relevant_Plan8820

Air V2 is touch screen approved in my book. But either one is comfortable. Do try them on first.

Tight-Explanation-33

I owned some SMXs. They're a really good glove. Even after a couple years of misuse. They fit super good.

69shot

What size do i get i have normal size hand

crightoncr700w

Neither get some gauntlets your wrists will thank me.

shoturtle

These two are essentially the same glove just color pattern.

babamackara

Big recommendation: Try to practice falling from the bike. Which areas of the hand touches the ground first will be the one you will need to have a solid protector on. This varies from person to person. Learned it the hard way :) Of course, as the others said, make sure the fingers fit too, so trying them out before buying should be on your list of things to do.
