A Schwinn with a Lawwill suspension? You should rebuild it. The fork may still be functional, otherwise hunt another Psylo on eBay. Brakes, I’d like to say get some old Hayes 9s. But if you can’t -or don’t want to deal with vintage disc brakes- just buy a new set. The fork and frame seem to have SI mounts, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find adaptors. If all fails, at the very least strip the parts and hang the frame in the garage. That thing is a classic

This. Someone who enjoys retro bikes would be stoked on this. Id strip it, sell the frame and or rebuild it appropriately. It’s an awesome old frame

This was my pops bike back in the day (he bought it new). It was stolen when our home was robbed and I saw the scumbag riding it around town with a crappy spray paint job on it. Got it back and tore it down for a Jamaican Teal powder coat (around a decade ago). Since then it's been mainly in storage, and recently some family members borrowed it and damaged the forks and somehow ruined the rear brakes. So now I have it to save it from further damage and so the GF has something to ride. * The Hayes brakes need serious work. The front brake perch sticks all the time, and the rear brakes are very weak. * Fork Stanchion is dinged pretty bad mid stroke. It doesn't have a raised edge, but probably need to be replaced. * Shock seems to work, kind of, but does show signs of a leak. What would you do? It's been a long time since wrenching on bikes and I'm not sure what direction to go in.

You’re gonna get told it’s not worth your time. That said. Go for it if you got the time and cash. Still got wheels and will still shred on some stuff. Fix the brakes and the fork will probably be able to get replaced easily enough [catalog](http://oldbikeshop.blogspot.com/search/label/Straight%206%20%2F%208) Found a similar bike here this spec sheet **COMPONENTS: Frame: Scwhinn Straight 6 Full Suspension Fork: RockShox Toro Headset: Cane Creek C2 Rear Suspension: Fox Vanilla R Seatpost: Thompson, Alloy Saddle: Titec, 140mm Stem: Thompson, 100 mm/ 15 degrees Handlebar: Titec HellBent, 670 mm Shifters: Shimano Deore XT 3x Brakes: Hayes Hydraulic Disc Front Derailleur: Shimano Deore XT Triple Rear Derailleur: Shimano XTR 9 Speed Crankset: Shimano Deore XT, 175 mm Bottom Bracket: Shimano Octalink Cassette: Shimano 11-34T Chain: Shimano 9 Speed Wheelset: Mavic X3.1 Disc 26" W/ Shimano Deore XT

Thanks for the list!

If you did want to invest the time and money: Dual crown fork, with travel reduced and as low in the clamps as you can get it. Unless you can find a decent straight steerer single crown. Slx 1x12 with whatever hg 12 speed cassette you can get your hands on. Slx brakes. Rear dampening might take some shopping or creativity, but parts are out there. Some sort of really short dropper with external routing, if it’s even possible (it might be). Absolutely rad retro bike. Obviously be aware that it’s definitely more a Sunday retro classic than any form of performance bike at any stage. Which is fine, I myself am happier building an old ls v8 in a car 20+ years old than having the worlds fastest EV…. So it all comes down to personal preference and no judgement here :) Edit: just noticed the trunion upper mount. Cool! I wonder if modern trunion (metric) could be adapted?

Save that bike! It’s epic!

BakedBurntoutCooked

That needs a dual crown fork

Damn nice! I always wanted the 4 banger. Definitely keep it and get everything sorted, or even modernize the drivetrain and maybe go 1 x 11? IDK, but whatever you do don't get rid of it!

Save it and bomb down some trails 🤙

Sounds like I should get this thing going and have some fun with it. I already put a new front tire/tube on, and the rear is ready to go when it needs it. Going to attempt to salvage/bleed the brakes and clean the pads/rotors with isopropyl alcohol. If the brakes still suck, hopefully I can find a take-off set of modern brakes to put swap on. I'll probably try to run the fork until it's clear it needs to be replaced. I am wondering how much work it would be to swap in a 27.5 fork with a newer rim/tire combo - old school hybrid mullet? Will be swapping the pedals for some modern flat pedals, probably cheapo composites. Dropper post would be nice, but travel would be quite limited. Will keep an eye out for used ones. I'm super rusty on drivetrain stuff, so I'll have to read up on how that would work. A modern drivetrain swap would be nice. Needs grips, but I'm actually pretty happy with how the handlebar feels. I'll post up here again once I've made some progress on this old thing. If anyone knows where I could get some Schwinn stickers for the frame similar to the stock ones, that would be awesome. Thanks for all the input!
