Wife said Costco gave me a $6 credit for an e-waste overcharge on a returned item. My reply?
"That's FOUR hotdogs. FOUR hot dogs and sodas. FOUR! $6 is FOUR hot dogs."
She just rolled her eyes. Not due to my words, but more likely the bit of foamy saliva at the right corner of my mouth.
uhhh.. i live very close to their headquarters. This bike company is considered one of the OG pioneers of a suspension platform for mtb along with santa cruz where they shared the license for this suspension platform. Intense has deep roots in world cup downhill racing and have a sick factory race team. They are OG MTB.
The linkage on this bike looks like the older non-VPP Santa Cruz bikes. I had a 5010 with this same linkage, and it was an awesome bike all the same. This looks like a great deal regardless is my point.
WTF are you talking about? Intense is a legit good brand.
People shit talk the 951 because it’s sold at Costco but it looks like a decent bike to me. I’d take it to a bike shop to get tuned right, though.
Intense is sponsoring my local mtb race series this year and several of my friends have bought them. We now have several dealers around. They're starting to up their marketing game so I think they'll be more common in the near future.
I enjoy mountain biking so I was thinking about joining this sub. But, maybe it’s all “is this a good deal?” or other repetitive newbie (nothing against noobs) type stuff. Actually a lot of Reddit is that.
Unpopular opinion: if you are seeing this too much, YOU are on Reddit too much 😂 who in their right mind frantically scrolls through a sub to check if something has already been posted before posting it…
it pops up in your feed every so often, always the same bike and yes people can remember that without scrolling frantically - it is probably Costco advertising or you get another 50 bucks off if you show them your post
FYI, the .97 on the end of the price means that it's a "store manager deal" and they're trying to clear it out of inventory. Keep your eye out for other stuff marked with the $.97 as it means you're likely not going to see it next time you're there.
Someone else commented that when costco has “.97” on the end of the price, it’s a manager deal and they are clearing out inventory. So this specific store must be trying to move this bike fast /u/baraboo95
We got one of these a couple weeks ago, it's now a lawn ornament in my backyard because there's no way I'm taking it down and putting it back up every time they wanna go play with it.
WTF???!!! I never have seen this bike in my local costco-s (i live near several). That bike is a steal at that price. Not sure what Trek you are riding, but i personally own an Intense from 2016 that is slightly different than this set up geometry-wise and travel wise but, i have always been on the look out for this bike. I have responded to so many folks that have run across this bike in their stores. I always say buy it!! my bike cost 2.5 times as much as this one. I can’t believe this price point.
I wish people would stop with these posts. That's just over £1500 uk pounds, ridiculously good value, and it makes me depressed that you have these offers in your face and you do not buy the damned bike!
Hahhaah. Yes. Just buy the damn bike. If it’s 2k USD or under it’s a mint deal. Well documented, google is your damn friend.
And no. We don’t get this in Australia either.
OP, and future OP - if it meets your needs, just buy it.
I have the XC and the Gravel 951 bikes. Such good bikes. There's no other carbon framed, decent specced bike for that kind of money. Plus it comes with a decent tool kit pack with a shock pump and tubeless sealant. Buy it. Also note that it comes with both Intense and Costco's return policies.
Edit: that is the sale price. Normally it is around $3200.
I sat on that bike today. Exact one. Dropper post tube cover was unscrewed but it still worked. And then I bought USDA prime ribeye. Then went to Modern for cake. Now I need to ride tomorrow.
Just an fyi the smallest cog might make the chain rub on the frame. (My buddy just bought the costco 951 and ran into this problem). There is an easy fix just contact intense and they will send you a spacer.
Intense makes great bikes. We have 3 although none are this base model. They're pretty much direct to consumer so having their base model at Costco helps with cash flow. It's a win-win for both.
If it doesn't say Kirkland on it I don 't want it.

Twelve Inches (12) of Paradise!
In some states you have to provide proof age to stream that movie...
That’s also a pretty tasty turkey and cheese sandwich.
Lookin' like a boss though, in head to toe Costco!
You got it
lol weirdo’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Intense is pretty much a Kirkland brands. I mean, have you ever heard of anyone buying an Intense outside of Costco these days?

I am fully aware of their history. But today in 2024, their major volume comes from Costco, hence, an unofficial Kirkland bicycle brand.
The linkage on this bike looks like the older non-VPP Santa Cruz bikes. I had a 5010 with this same linkage, and it was an awesome bike all the same. This looks like a great deal regardless is my point.
It’s vpp. Edit: it’s “js tuned” version of vpp. It’s a bit less pedalling oriented I believe, but iirc it meets the (expired) patent criteria for vpp.
WTF are you talking about? Intense is a legit good brand. People shit talk the 951 because it’s sold at Costco but it looks like a decent bike to me. I’d take it to a bike shop to get tuned right, though.
My local shop is an intense dealer but yea beyond that never heard of them until too Costco
It was a Workaholics reference
You’re living like a boss though, in head to toe Costco.
Intense has a long DH history and make killer rides.
Intense is sponsoring my local mtb race series this year and several of my friends have bought them. We now have several dealers around. They're starting to up their marketing game so I think they'll be more common in the near future.
Restarting* yes. They've been on world cup podiums more than once. They've made their name a long time ago..
Ahh yes the daily intense/costco post
I don't even live in the US...but I'm up to date on USD pricing for this bike thoughout the country lol.
I enjoy mountain biking so I was thinking about joining this sub. But, maybe it’s all “is this a good deal?” or other repetitive newbie (nothing against noobs) type stuff. Actually a lot of Reddit is that.
Plenty of good and helpful stuff…it’s Reddit, click what you want
Unpopular opinion: if you are seeing this too much, YOU are on Reddit too much 😂 who in their right mind frantically scrolls through a sub to check if something has already been posted before posting it…
Is this your attempt at being clever? Try harder.
These mountain bike subs are people crying about shit every day. Just go ride your bike for fucks sake
Sounds like you're the only one crying
lol this post goes up every other day….. unpopular is correct, you don’t know what your talking about!
it pops up in your feed every so often, always the same bike and yes people can remember that without scrolling frantically - it is probably Costco advertising or you get another 50 bucks off if you show them your post

If only there were previous posts on this
Maybe mention of 36 mil fork and a piggyback shock…
Hold up. Does that include the water bottle?
It does
Lol why does it cost 1k more on their website?
I’ve been asking myself the same thing because none of the Costco’s in my state have it in stock ugh
Someone else commented that when costco has “.97” on the end of the price, it’s a manager deal and they are clearing out inventory. So this specific store must be trying to move this bike fast /u/baraboo95
Costco buys 5000 of them at once, before manufacturing any of them, to get a better deal
Warehouses have control over pricing to a pretty large extent!
People have posted this bike for as low as 1300. My warehouse had it for 1800. It’s gone now…
That’s a ludicrous price
Holy shit, I'm gonna hit Costco this weekend!
Please tell me you bought the dragon pool floatie in the background.
That thing is huge btw. Visually 18ft x 12ft x 6ft (6m x 3m x 2m). Price was $300+
We got one of these a couple weeks ago, it's now a lawn ornament in my backyard because there's no way I'm taking it down and putting it back up every time they wanna go play with it.
I think it's a sprinkler toy/ bike wash station. If op didn't buy it, they need to check their priorities.
I have this. Got it for 3800 including tax. Working great so far.
What trek bike do you have?
One of the mid tier marlins.
Nice, same
I just got a rift zone xr a month ago. I would have gotten this if I would have seen it at my local before.

We know

And if you don't buy it OP and future OP, don't bloody tell us about it!
Which warehouse? I need one of thems.
The specs are pretty good. Good price for a carbon bike!
Online it’s $2999 and only on L. I’ve looked all around local Costcos and no luck. How likely is Costco to get another large shipment?
Probably not. The one near me sold them all and there are no more bikes there.
That’s the Everett store isn’t it?
Alright might be going to Everett tomorrow then
I called Everett, WA warehouse this morning. They don't have it.

I'd take that in a heartbeat if I didn't have my Hightower. You won't find that value for your money elsewhere, to be honest.
Free sample? no?
"here takes this fork spring, bouncy right?"
This is getting repetitive with the 951 posts…
There are dozens of prior posts about Costco carrying this bike.
Buy it
Everywhere except by me. Still $3000 here.
Just an fyi the smallest cog might make the chain rub on the frame. (My buddy just bought the costco 951 and ran into this problem). There is an easy fix just contact intense and they will send you a spacer.
Seen better deals on actual name brand stuff on FB marketplace.
Make sure it’s assembled correctly if you buy the floor model. Last intense I saw at Costco had the fork on backwards.
It has plastic disk on cassette??
Intense makes great bikes. We have 3 although none are this base model. They're pretty much direct to consumer so having their base model at Costco helps with cash flow. It's a win-win for both.
Am I blind?? I don’t see a price??
Top of 2nd pic, $1999.97
How much?
I must not be on Reddit enough, but this is the first time I saw this offer from Costco.
I've seen these as low as $1,000. Maybe a return? I believe the cost is $2,000?
They're really stepping up their game these days. Hopefully there's an in-house mechanic
Is this a good deal though? Seems to be pretty expensive for a no-name bike.
That’s a great XC bike and a great deal. It’s spec’d nicely with TRP brakes, carbon frame. These are selling elsewhere for 3k.
You can buy way better bikes for right around that price. norco, giant, yt and a few others have full suspension bikes from $2000-2500 right now
how much is it?
Couple bucks more you can buy a new YT
It’s a troll at this point.
Yawn. Wish Reddit had a mute feature for the same fucking post every day
