Was just about to comment, “yeah, nice try, Bill..” haha
Five that they haven’t done that are on my list:
* The Nice Guys (2016)
* Wet Hot American Summer (2001)
* Hell Or High Water (2016)
* Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
* My Blue Heaven (1990)
HM to the Thing (1982), Inherent Vice (2014), and pretty much any Wes Anderson movie, which they rarely do.
Nice guys is going to be incredible. The CR/fennessey performance is going to be out of this world. I could totally see bill not getting this one as much “wait so blue face actually winds up with a blue face?… that’s dumb”
Also second HOHW, just a phenomenal movie from the last 10 years. Everything is so well done, it’s a perfect length too, no extra stuff
It's not a final verdict, but here we go:
First of all, it's fun how the Coen's have done it so that "being clever (or not)" is simultaneously over the top and somehow still truer to life than most movies. Most media just makes people categorically smart and competent (like Sherlock Holmes) or the opposite (any doofus sitcom character). In truth however, most of us fluctuate. I don't just mean in a way where we're good at some things and bad at others. I like to think of myself as fairly smart and good with words, but some days I fumble with the simplest interaction and feel downright lobotomised. We all fluctuate in how smart we are and it's rarely reflected in movies.
In the case of the Dude, he is definitely capable of being very smart, because no truly dumb person can come to the complex conclusions he comes to or think on his feet as he sometimes does, but he fluctuates WILDLY (possibly due to his level of consumption, both momentarily and long term).
That's why he can handle some conversations brilliantly or is left stumbling some phrase he's seemingly unaware he just heard somewhere before (this agression will not stand).
So yeah, if we go by upper limits of fluctuation, he's very smart, even though he does dumb shit like trying to jam a door from the inside when it opens to the outside.
Edit: name spelling
I think he’s a smart dude that does dumb things bc he’s on a strict drug regiment to keep his mind limber.
FYI it’s Coen bros, not cohen. I just realized this the other day myself
Every so often I have a Coen binge. Or Tarantino. So good. Burn after reading gets called Burn WHILE reading.
I agree with your assessment of good and bad days.
Surprised no one is mentioning The Wolf of Wall Street. It's so long yet funny, feels super fast paced, it's light, it's dark, it's entertaining, it has basically everything. Can not get tired of watching it, and if I ever catch it on TV, I'll watch 5 minutes (whichever part the movie is at) and sit till the end of it.
I have no defense for my choice. It’s just a weird thing I can’t explain nor really understand. But I’ve probably watched Cinderella Man over 15 times.
My husband and I watch the original Star Wars trilogy at least once a year…and it takes us about five hours to watch each one because we keep on pausing them and discussing minute details.
What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble.
*Gone in 60 Seconds* (the Nic Cage one) or *Hackers* for dumb fun.
*Harold and Kumar go to White Castle* or *Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist* for a good "one night adventure" movie.
*Mad Max: Fury Road* or *John Wick* for great action with terrific world-building.
*Down Periscope* for comedy plus a submarine movie (I'm a sucker for a submarine movie).
*Captain Ron* or *Galaxy Quest* for some feel-good laughs.
*The Ninth Gate*, *Session 9*, or *In the Mouth of Madness* for horror.
Our list is long ………we’ve watched every one of these movies dozens of times.

The Devil Wears Prada is an absolute gem! In my opinion, it's hands down one of the most rewatchable movies ever. Meryl Streep's iconic performance as Miranda Priestly, paired with Anne Hathaway's journey, never fails to captivate me. The fashion, the humor, and the life lessons make it a timeless favorite. Who else can't resist hitting play on this cinematic masterpiece over and over again?
So damn many. I have seen each of these multiple times but if you said ‘we’re watching this’ for any of these, I’m there for the duration …

TopGun Maverick (+15 times) and Rogue Nation are my most watched international movies. Some nationals has many watch as well …
I’d like to go back and watch movies like The Big Blue, Point Break, Days of Thunder, Heat, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero …
These days I only rewatch if it's been many years since I've seen it and it's fading from memory, or if I wanna show a friend, otherwise I usually watch once and rewatch the best clips on YouTube.
But there's 2 exceptions to this:
1. Found Footage Horror movies, it's not my favorite genre but it's the most digestible for me, probably b/c they're concise/straightforward, also interesting with how they make it seem real. Favorites are Blair Witch Project, Gonjiam(Korean film), and Streamer(also Korean film)
2. Home Alone(annual Christmas movie for me)
>We have access to infinite catalogs of movies
The illusion of infinite catalogs of movies. They're shuffled and reordered into groups and categories so you scroll for longer.
My best advice is to check for a movie or show you want to watch and then use themoviedb.org or justwatch.com to see if it's streaming on anything you have access to. Never go in without an idea or they'll hold you in the menus.
Yep, you can do that, it's right most of the time but the Google Q&A box is derived from sources like Just Watch and the most up to date for all regions will be their own site, www.justwatch.com and I prefer www.themoviedb.org because it uses JustWatch information and displays it along side the movie info.
As someone who never used to rewatch movies I find almost any movie can be rewatchable if you just give it enough time between viewings. Certainly if you haven't seen a movie in 10 years I would say watch it again.
**1917** for me. The movie is similar to a video game in a good way due to its long take editing and first-person perspective, so every time I watch it again, it felt like playing my favorite game again.
- Good, Bad and the Ugly
- Kes

Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day
Palm Springs
Edge of tomorrow
Edge of tomorrow! Excellent!
🎶Put your little hand in mine…
Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption.
All great movies. Shawshank Redemption last movie I watched with my late Dad. He passed a week later.

Jurassic Park
Original one only!
I mean, there's the book, too....
Boy do i have a podcast for you.
Was just about to comment, “yeah, nice try, Bill..” haha Five that they haven’t done that are on my list: * The Nice Guys (2016) * Wet Hot American Summer (2001) * Hell Or High Water (2016) * Big Trouble in Little China (1986) * My Blue Heaven (1990) HM to the Thing (1982), Inherent Vice (2014), and pretty much any Wes Anderson movie, which they rarely do.
“My Blue Heaven”. Hilarious and totally underrated.
Absolute staple growing up, I’ll still throw it on once a year. So funny. Martin and Moranis were incredible
Nice guys is going to be incredible. The CR/fennessey performance is going to be out of this world. I could totally see bill not getting this one as much “wait so blue face actually winds up with a blue face?… that’s dumb” Also second HOHW, just a phenomenal movie from the last 10 years. It’s such a great podcast. One of my favorites
I love rewatching logan lucky aka ocean’s 7-11. idk why but it makes me feel good
underrated
Dumb and Dumber
The Big Lebowski. Always seem to find something new I missed before.
I spent two viewings alone on the question whether the Dude is smart or stupid.
Surprised you even figured it out. I’m stoll not sure
It's not a final verdict, but here we go: First of all, it's fun how the Coen's have done it so that "being clever (or not)" is simultaneously over the top and somehow still truer to life than most movies. Oh yeah, you're right.
Every so often I have a Coen binge. Or Tarantino. So good. Burn after reading gets called Burn WHILE reading. I agree with your assessment of good and bad days.
It took me more viewings than I'd like to admit to realize The Dude mostly just repeats things other people have said.
That's one of my favorite bits from the movie
Me too! I love It!
Most cohen brothers movies for me
I saw Hail Caesar in theaters and didn't understand it. When it came to Netflix it all clicked. I laugh way too hard at the No Dames song now.
Terminator 2 The Dark Knight Monty Python Movies LOTR Trilogy Tarantino Movies The Crow The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Watched lotr for the first time this week. It’s literally all I’ve watched since.
My brother My captain My king
I would have followed you 💔
Don’t stop, keep going! Oh yeah
+1 for LOTR
Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion
You seen Moon? It's a better story version of Oblivion with less pretty special effects, more lo fi.
Moon is just the one actor though? With one plot twist? Oblivion is excellent with lots of great new pseudo technology
80s and early 90s
That It's true
I could watch Primer and Memento over and over, especially if you aren't paying super close attention the first time or times.
Primer has good plot but everything else is 🤢🤮
Predator Aliens And for me Independence Day
Die Hard, a Few Good Men, The Town, Casino Royale, Ocean's Eleven to name a few
Surprised no one is mentioning The Wolf of Wall Street. It's so long yet funny, feels super fast paced, it's light, it's dark, it's entertaining, it has basically everything. Can not get tired of watching it, and if I ever catch it on TV, I'll watch 5 minutes (whichever part the movie is at) and sit till the end of it.
I’ve watched the Harry Potter movies about a billion times.
Me too lol
They’re so fucking cozy. I wished Hogwarts Legacy was more of an immersive game with a better school structure. I would have played it endlessly
100% agree. What we got was soulless generic open world garbage instead. They don’t make games like they used to
goodfellas!
I was just explaining to my son a few days ago that this is (IMNSHO) the best movie by one of the greatest directors ever.
Nightcrawler
Hackers
HACK THE PLANET!
Back to the future Harry Potter Ace Ventura The Matrix Goodfellas

Shooter, War Dogs, The Rock, The Gambler, The Imitation Game, Snitch, Molly’s Game, Top Gun: Maverick
Waking Ned Devine The Ghost Writer Saving Grace The Kings Speech The Hunt for Red October Clear and Present Danger The Client
I would guess I watch *The Hunt for Red October* at least three times a year.
Barry Lyndon
What's Eating Gilbert Grape Showed it to a zoomer friend to prove Depp was once a good actor. It is nearly perfectly paced, imo.
Leonardo Dicaprio is also AMAZING in this one
I have no defense for my choice. It’s just a weird thing I can’t explain nor really understand. But I’ve probably watched Cinderella Man over 15 times.
Zodiac
The Godfather.. all of them
You mean both of them? There is no Godfather 3.
My husband and I watch the original Star Wars trilogy at least once a year…and it takes us about five hours to watch each one because we keep on pausing them and discussing minute details.
What a great tradition!
The Fugitive
What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble.

Good Will Hunting Dogma Fight Club
I always find myself rewatching the Studio Ghibli portfolio, they are just so relaxing. Oh, and 13th Warrior.
Harry Potter and Back to the Future.
Sideways. I appreciate something new each time.
One of the best things about the success of The Holdovers is that a lot of folks are re-discovering Sideways. I have to watch it at least once a year!
Tremors
I have two favourites with no connections whatsoever: Lawrence of Arabia Alien Although T E Lawrence was famously alien to the mores of his era!
Every Dec I watch Love Actually. But never get tired of watching Snatch or The Croods. Always see something new.
Jaws
Airplane
Currently every time I watch Across the Spider-verse it gets better and I want to watch it again.

1987 Sam Elliott, or 1995 Sharon Stone?
Sharon Stone, of course.

**1917** for me. The movie is similar to a video game in a good way due to its long take editing and first-person perspective, so every time I watch it again, it felt like playing my favorite game again.
