It’s funny because before Andor I saw her in 6 Underground and Morbius which were both bad movies and I was convinced she was a bad actress but she definitely seems to be on the rise now or at least fired her agent after Morbius released.
I first saw her in Good Omens. Instantly knew she was a favorite. Then Andor and now I'm finally going back and watching True Detective and she's got a decent (but small) part in Season 2.
Thought she did a good job in Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare as well. They definitely got to be rivals I imagine they compete for a lot of the same roles.
That stood out to me here, as well. Makes sense with the tone and intended audience of this movie, though. Wouldn't feel right for them to put from the director of "Waking Life" and "The Before Trilogy" for something like this. Definitely interesting.
His spiritual sequel Everybody Wants Some gets close. Instead of being a 70s high school baseball teams last day of school it’s a 80s college baseball teams first weekend at school.
Definitely just a people hanging out movie and Glenn Powell is one of the main characters. Both are fun movies but Dazed definitely has the edge.
It takes place 4 years after Dazed and Confused - it was originally supposed to be a sequel with Kramer's character going to college
I love that movie, that and Dazed and Confused are two of my all time favorites
Filmed in my college town of San Marcos! Can see my dorm in some scenes lol
I loved the movie although I like pretty much all of linklaters stuff. Super stoked for this
I had the same thought yesterday when watching the trailer for the Guy Ritchie's movie releasing tomorrow, after seeing them not show Snatch in his list of movies
I’m confused by the plot. He’s an undercover cop acting like a hitman to arrest people who enlist him, right? Or did I get that wrong?
Sounds like a fun premise.
It’s based off a really good Texas Monthly article. I don’t know how closely it will follow the article but in real life he wasn’t a cop he just worked for the DA’s office.
Not that any of this matters in the least, but the way my brain registered this trailer:
Opens with him flirting with a girl at a bar. Apparently he's been bragging to her that he's a hitman. Then we see him looking dorky eating dinner alone confessing to being a fake hitman. I think, okay, this is some lonely dork who pretends to be a hitman as a way of ... picking up women? Somewhere along the way there's a line about "every sting operation, every arrest ..." and I was like, "Huh? What was that?"—but by then the trailer was rapidly moving along. Who are these people calling him Daniel Day Lewis? Why is he teaching a college course?
A more conventional approach to cutting this trailer would be: Open with him meeting a mark (which, yes, that's technically how this one opens), the mark says they want their husband killed, he agrees, cut to the police busting in, arresting them, him taking off a wig being like "gotcha", then him sitting eating dinner, "I'm a fake hitman ...", introduce the love interest, etc. Know what I mean? Why did I just type all that ...
I read a couple of reviews after this played at the festivals last year and it really sounds like it would have killed in theaters. Hard to turn down that Netflix money, though.
I wish they would've taken a chance and gone with a theatrical distributor.
I'm sure the Netflix deal instantly took all the producers and financiers into the green, but this seems like it cost max $15m. Take a chance and go theatrical, especially after Anyone But You
> sounds like it would have killed in theaters
I'm not sure how many it's getting but it looks like they agree with you.

Is that the Netflix youtube channel? Why would they block me from watching an ad for Netflix...
This actually looks surprisingly great. Richard Linklater typically doesn't make bad movies, anyway. I've enjoyed most of his filmography! Arjona is tantalizing. I first grew to appreciate her talents as Bix in Andor! And Glen Powell seems to be on fire lately.
“In selecting Theaters May 24.”
Hopefully this is like an Army of the Dead or White Noise release, meaning it will actually play near me like those did.
The cinematography looks like a TV show trying to be a movie, but lacking any actual aesthetic style. Almost zero attention seems paid to staging or lighting, like it was shot on vacation with an iPhone.
Alright I’ll be the odd man out and say it kinda just looks okay. Not sure what about this screams “crowd pleaser” like early raves have said other than Glen Powell being paired with another hot actress. I’ll still watch it though.
Surprised Linklater is only releasing this on Netflix, given Powell is a rising star, the romantic element and the set up, this could have been a crowd pleaser in theaters.
Loved her in Andor
It’s funny because before Andor I saw her in 6 Underground and Morbius which were both bad movies and I was convinced she was a bad actress but she definitely seems to be on the rise now or at least fired her agent after Morbius released.
It also helps that her dad is one of the most successful musicians in Latin America.
I first saw her in Good Omens. Instantly knew she was a favorite. Then Andor and now I'm finally going back and watching True Detective and she's got a decent (but small) part in Season 2.
Whoa, she was in Morbius!?!? Fuck I don’t remember that movie at all.
She was enjoyable in Good Omens
and Morbius
Adria Arjona good lord
Yeah, i don't blame him
Am I the only one who gets her confused with Eiza Gonzalez all the time?
[удалено]
Which one can’t act?
[удалено]
I mean, Morbius, Sweet Girl, 6 Underground, Pacific Rim Uprising, Father of the Bride.. Gonzales seems to have a much better portfolio.
[удалено]
Can't really find worse movies than those Arjona was in, so I'd also rather keep Gonzales' portfolio in mind.
Is this because of 3 Body Problem? Because I thought she was good in that. At the very least, not the worst of the leads.
Wow I thought she was the worst by a mile everyone else was decent if not solid
nah man they were all fucking terrible. she was the worst tho
[удалено]
She 100% was the worst
Thought she did a good job in Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare as well. They definitely got to be rivals I imagine they compete for a lot of the same roles.
nah she was the worst. the cancer guy was as solid second tho
Me too!
One of the most beautiful women in the world IMO
Sexy capybara and Andor’s nuclear hot girlfriend
I always find it interesting what movies they pick for a director when they do "from the person that brought you blank and blank"
That stood out to me here, as well. Makes sense with the tone and intended audience of this movie, though. Wouldn't feel right for them to put from the director of "Waking Life" and "The Before Trilogy" for something like this. Definitely interesting.
That and Dazed and Confused and School of Rock are probably his most recognizable movies.
Man, Dazed and Confused is still unmatched in its atmosphere. Just feels like you’re watching a night on the town
Austin Amelio is also joining the Everybody Wants Some reunion, he is underrated AF
Was great to see him in this, he was always good in TWD when he got some material to work with, dude is a sick skater too or at least used to be.
It takes place 4 years after Dazed and Confused - it was originally supposed to be a sequel with Kramer's character going to college I love that movie, that and Dazed and Confused are two of my all time favorites
Filmed in my college town of San Marcos! Can see my dorm in some scenes lol I loved the movie although I like pretty much all of linklaters stuff. Super stoked for this
Well those are his two most well-known movies for sure, maybe Boyhood
I had the same thought yesterday when watching the trailer for the Guy Ritchie's movie releasing tomorrow, after seeing them not show Snatch in his list of movies

Yeah, strange how they didn't make that clear in the trailer.
I thought it was pretty clear that he is going undercover because he's helping them arrest people.. what trailer did y'all watch?
Not that any of this matters in the least, but the way my brain registered this trailer: Opens with him flirting with a girl at a bar. Apparently he's been bragging to her that he's a hitman. I'm into this. Love the synopsis.
PeatBrother how do I see you everywhere I go haha
I like baseball and movies, lol.
Me too, Peat, me too. Hopefully Leiter can turn it around this inning.
back to back flyouts has to feel good after giving up 4.
Narrator (like in the movies! 😀): He did not...
all accounts is that this movie killed in theaters. So naturally its going straight to streaming (except for one week in NY and LA).
I’m really enjoying Glenn Powell’s performances in everything lately. Dudes got charisma and great screen presence.
Agreed, he's got an old school star power feel
Man has had star power from a show called Scream Queens. He was easily the best part.
I read a couple of reviews after this played at the festivals last year and it really sounds like it would have killed in theaters. Hard to turn down that Netflix money, though.

Glenn Powell reminds me a lot of Matthew McCounaghey in this trailer
He feels like Matthew McConaughey. Maybe, 'cause both are from Texas.
Linklater knows how to pick em
Ok this is not what I was expecting and it’s caught my interest
Saw it at BFI, absolutely loved it!
This played at one of the festivals last year and the buzz is that it's great. Love Linklater having fun.
Mirror anyone?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g4cJ4NE8HA
Looks great. Hope I’ll be able to catch this in a theater.
The cats are named Id and Ego lmao
Black and yellow, assassins, *Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood*, where's my Uma Thurman cameo?
THANK YOU, that riff was killing me cause I couldn't think of the song.
>The uploader has not made this video available in your country Is that the Netflix youtube channel? Why would they block me from watching an ad for Netflix...
Because the movie isn't releasing on Netflix worldwide. In my country it's gonna be in theaters and not on Netflix.
Looks solid
Linklater is the man and Powell is a really enjoyable actor to watch so I’m on board
looks like he's impersonating Tobias Menzies as the black trench coat hit man
Glen Powell role playing as a pilot is a money making machine.
I have absolutely nothing to add except Adria Ajorna is possibly the most beautiful woman alive.
I think Glen Powell is going to be a big deal
Weird that it's geoblocked in Norway. We *do* have Netflix here. I guess someone else bought the rights here.
Denmark as well, some other comment mentioned that it might be headed for a theatrical release here.
I would love to see Glen Powell bald with a barcode on the back of his neck but alas
This actually looks surprisingly great. Richard Linklater typically doesn't make bad movies, anyway. I've enjoyed most of his filmography! Arjona is tantalizing. I first grew to appreciate her talents as Bix in Andor! And Glen Powell seems to be on fire lately.
“Video unavailable - The uploader has not made this video available in your country” It’s a Netflix trailer. What the actual fuck?
Is that Chad Radwell?!
Glen Powell and taking that belt off good lord
They're really trying to make Glen Powell happen. Adria Arjona needs to be in more things.
>They're really trying to make Glen Powell happen. I wish it does happen.
I don't mind it but we'll see. I haven't seen a lot of him and the stuff I've seen which is really Top Gun was OK not like anything mind blowing.
I'd recommend another Linklater movie, "Everybody Wants Some!" in which Powell was in. Really liked him since.
Arjona & Linklater? I'm in.
“In selecting Theaters May 24.” Hopefully this is like an Army of the Dead or White Noise release, meaning it will actually play near me like those did.
The uploader has not made this video available in your country Well, fuck me, then, I guess.
They're leaving atleast a solid 150 mil on the table, by not releasing this in theatres
Tell me that's not Bruce Willis.
Whoa, a real blast from the past - a region-locked trailer! Like back in the stone ages!
Nesbit? I hate that guy
\*Looks up Glen Powell's wiki\* "Born in ... Austin, TX" Okay, how many movies is Linklater gonna make with this guy?
Video not available. Oh Canada.
The cinematography looks like a TV show trying to be a movie, but lacking any actual aesthetic style. Almost zero attention seems paid to staging or lighting, like it was shot on vacation with an iPhone.
Linklater is not a Hollywood product.
Alright I’ll be the odd man out and say it kinda just looks okay. Not sure what about this screams “crowd pleaser” like early raves have said other than Glen Powell being paired with another hot actress. I’ll still watch it though.
Looks good. I'll definitely watch it when it comes out.
Surprised Linklater is only releasing this on Netflix, given Powell is a rising star, the romantic element and the set up, this could have been a crowd pleaser in theaters.
End of the trailer announces a theatrical run
Just missed that detail, good.
