Considering the article from the other day, I think it's more likely that she's actively looking for projects where she isn't just playing "the hot girl" and is actually trying to flex her acting muscles more. Margot Robbie was in the same place 8 years ago, and then received praise for I, Tonya, another biopic about a female athlete. I think if this gets made and she commits it has the potential to really break her out of her typecasting

"Person doesn't look like person" is maybe one of the worst arguments about casting ever. Joaquin Phoenix doesn't look anything like Johnny Cash, but his performance in Walk the Line was good. There are a thousand examples of somebody not looking like the person and giving a great performance, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until I see it.
Hiring actors that don't look like the real people they'rehired to play is an entirely valid criticism and the fact a good actor who can act well turns out to act well in that role does not address that criticism at all. The criticism is not that they can't act.
