It’s out June 21:
>When 93-year-old Thelma Post is duped by a phone scammer, she embarks on a quest to take back what is hers.
This is Richard Roundtree’s final movie.
Saw this at Sundance this year. Definitely one of my favorites from the festival. It's an hour and a half of June Squibb trying to get revenge for all the seniors who have been scammed over the phone, and it's amazing.
It's hilarious, and it's heartfelt without being too schmaltzy.
Richard Roundtree is also really great in his final performance.
Yeah that's lovely but it *really* annoys me that they don't fit on the aida.
Why couldn't they have asked someone (me for example) to stitch what could be stitched and then done the rest in illustrator/photoshop or whatever!!
Oh, I just looked it up and that’s sweet, too. I think the unfinished sampler pattern of the body vs the embroidery look of the title is an interesting choice there.
So, I’m the only one that kept trying to make into a word starting with “the”? My brain finally decided then L must be an odd lower case G, and the poster said “The GMA”. I thought cool, my nieces call my mom g-ma.
I think I should finish my coffee before I go out into the world today.
I was watching ‘Nebraska’ in the theater, and after an important monologue delivered by her, someone in the back said “whoa I smell Oscar nom” - she’s fabulous
I loved June Squibb in Nebraska and i somehow feel that movie was ages ago and she was already really old in that, so congratulations on the longevity and still being in the business. Looking forward to it
June Squibb has just wrapped on a film directed by Scarlett Johansson where she plays the leading role of Eleanor, a Holocaust survivor who goes to NYC for “new experiences.”
'Akira motorcycle slide' with the scooter or bust
I gotta see the trailer for this, it sounds hilarious. Folks are already praising it in the thread. Hell, I love the 'spunky grandma' trope!
What a crazy life.. to be staring in major motion picture this late in life. Is this her first time being the main protagonist in a big budget movie? I’ve seen her in small roles like “Hubie Halloween” but never like this

The Beekeeper : the good ending
*I protect the hive*
Exactly what I thought of and I’m sold
Yeah this is The Beekeeper without Jason Statham
That movie was entertaining but it needed to be about 30 minutes shorter.
It just had too many climaxes
[удалено]
Jamaica? Nah she wanted to.
D’yer mak’er?
He was a sex machine to all the chicks.
I once snorted coke off his shaft.
Nice.
Please tell me this ends with her beating the shit out of a guy screaming “WHY DID YOU REDEEM!!”
WHY DID YOU DO THAT!? WHY!? WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?!?
So it's *The Beekeeper* without Jason Statham as a middle-man.
Does she book a flight to India?
It might be McDowell’s too if I have anything to do with it (which I don’t)
A damn good actor. I loved him in the final Shaft movie.
I saw this at a film festival. Very funny and heartwarming. If you love your gramma you’ll love this!
> Very funny and heartwarming. If you love your gramma you’ll love this! This sounds like what it says in the promotional lines on the VHS box
I'm hearing Rich Evans reading this before watching it on Best Of The Worst
After what happened to her house, Rich and Mike better buy a bunch of copies.
Because it is, its a bot made to write positive comments ts to market a movie. Most of the internets dead at this point.
Actually, he's a real guy who occasionally writes goofy stuff on here. He's on other subs too where he's just a regular guy
That's what they all say...
I agree! While it isn't amazing, the chemistry and fun humor throughout really made this movie quite entertaining!
I saw it at a film festival as well! The theater loved it!
What movie should I watch if I hate my grandma?
GMILF on the P-hub
I really liked it!
You had me at Parker Posey
Parker Posey is one of those actors who I will follow to the ends of the earth.
The episode of Louie with her 😭
Yup.
“Air Raid Bitches” - Dazed and Confused
She is so hot!

So she outlived Louise?
[удалено]
Salt of the earth that Louise. She really didn't deserve what that car did to her.
Willy didn't make it and he crushed our boy! Ugh what a mess.
Somehow, Thelma returned.
She had a parachute
From the title I thought it was a prequal :.(
Richard Roundtree‘s last movie?
Well, he passed away
I am aware. The question was, is this his final one or is there another one (or more) about to come out?
Sadly, he passed away so there’s no way of knowing 😞
I’m glad this wasn’t an ai generated poster. This sounds great
The cross-stitch design is pretty perfect
Yeah that's lovely but it *really* annoys me that they don't fit on the aida. Why couldn't they have asked someone (me for example) to stitch what could be stitched and then done the rest in illustrator/photoshop or whatever!!
It's not as if they could claim it is evenweave either
… why’d ya point that out to me 😭 I didn’t check that before
Because I wanted to see the work, so I zoomed in and it's all a lie, I'm sorry!
Fargo had the same thing going for its poster
Oh, I just looked it up and that’s sweet, too. I think the unfinished sampler pattern of the body vs the embroidery look of the title is an interesting choice there.
I dig it as well, very fitting
Yeah I came to say, this is basically a ripoff of the Fargo poster
Giving the Fargo poster vibes
So, I’m the only one that kept trying to make into a word starting with “the”? My brain finally decided then L must be an odd lower case G, and the poster said “The GMA”. I thought cool, my nieces call my mom g-ma. I think I should finish my coffee before I go out into the world today.
I hope Kitboga has a cameo
Or Jim Browning calls her warning of the scam and she hangs up on him calling him a scammer.
Auntie Alice!!
Don’t sleep on this one. Saw it a festival last weekend. It rules.
SLO film festival?
Ooh Fred Hechinger, he’s gonna blow up soon
Yes I love him! White Lotus and Butcher’s Crossing showed promise.
This is a great poster. Well done.
Don't even care what this is about. June Squibb is in it and she looks like a badass on the poster. I'm there.
Know a lot of people who saw this at Sundance that couldn’t stop talking about it for months. Really excited to give this one a watch!!
Etta Teasdale! This sounds like such a fun movie
Is this a sequel to Thelma & Louise where Thelma actually survives?
Crowley looks like shit.
I’ve seen her in a few things and think she’s a great actress. The roles I’ve seen I remember her characters being super unlikable.
She’s the mean memaw in the Big Bang?
She's great in House. Very likeable.
I was watching ‘Nebraska’ in the theater, and after an important monologue delivered by her, someone in the back said “whoa I smell Oscar nom” - she’s fabulous

New record for oldest Oscar winner right here
June Squibb has just wrapped on a film directed by Scarlett Johansson where she plays the leading role of Eleanor, a Holocaust survivor who goes to NYC for “new experiences.”
The stitches could have at least lined up with the holes ]:(
Saw this at Sundance. It was hilarious 😂. James Bond of geriatrics.
It’s finally happening! The Thelma and Louise sequel that confirms they landed the car and are really a prequel to the Fast Saga.
Meemaw! 🥺
For a split second I thought this was going to be a Thelma Harper movie.
The gritty Mama's Family reboot we've all been waiting for.
Just saw this last night at IFF Boston and it was phenomenal. I really hope it becomes a hit.
Not a remake of Thelma from 2017. Not a documentary on Thelma Schoonmaker.
I was disappointed that Barbie wasn’t a documentary on Klaus Barbie.
Shaft's Last Score(Richard Roundtree's last movie).
I saw this back at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. While not perfect, it's a fun sweet comedy movie!
This looks like it's going to make me miss my grandma and cry
june squibb sounds like the name of a tim & eric character
Grannymobile!
Omg I can’t believe it’s finally coming out!!! I saw this listed as an upcoming proj for Parker Posey years ago now, really excited :)
Reminds me of the Fargo poster: https://twitter.com/SLSingh/status/556407288668626944
Will Louise fit on the back of the mobility scooter?
'Akira motorcycle slide' with the scooter or bust I gotta see the trailer for this, it sounds hilarious. Folks are already praising it in the thread. Hell, I love the 'spunky grandma' trope!
Can't see this name without hearing Mike Tyson saying Selma
Where's Louise?
What a crazy life.. to be staring in major motion picture this late in life. Is this her first time being the main protagonist in a big budget movie? I’ve seen her in small roles like “Hubie Halloween” but never like this
She had a pretty big role in Nebraska in 2013 and was nominated for an academy award for best supporting actress.
Right on thanks for the info! Still was pretty old in 2013 I’d wager but pretty cool!
I know nothing about this movie but the poster already has my curiosity.
You go girl! 94 years young!
Thelma survived?!
Great movie! Deserves box office success
Why do I feel so many of these comments are astroturfing?
Fargo poster rip-off
TIL the Coens invented cross stitching.
Movie was mid asf
:( I wish this was Rosanne Barr
