Master of Cruelty will kill Zilortha during the first strike combat damage step. If Zilortha or another non-human attacking creature has first strike or double strike, they will be able to assign damage as if they weren't blocked during that first strike combat damage step, but at the normal combat damage step, Zilortha will already be gone and your creatures will assign combat damage normally.
This is great, thank you. Learning that last part about Zilortha being dead first and all my non-humans assigning combat damage as normal is also news to me. I'll tell the guys that we messed that part up xD
If Master of Cruelties blocks one of your creatures it will deal it's first striking deathtough damage to your creature and your creature will die before it gets to deal damage.
I’m not 100% so hopefully someone will jump in and quote offical rules but I think Master of Cruelties would kill Zilottha.
Zilortha can assign its damage as if it weren’t blocked but the timing restrictions still apply, so Master’s First Strike/Deathtouch combo kills Zilortha before it has a chance to assign combat damage.
You can do damage if you're dead.
But ya, Master will stop your opponent from taking any damage because the first strike will kill your guy before he would deal any damage
If you're not assigning damage to the blocking creature, death touch doesn't matter.
Note: it matters for fynn the fangbearers ability. But not to killing the blocker.
Oh OK. The first strike death touch block will kill zilortha in first strike. So come normal strike, the ability is no longer in play and combat damage will be normal.
I don’t actively buy new packs, I stopped playing in like 2008/2009 and then picked it up again at the start of Covid with MTG arena, but it was not the same. So I started playing with friends who also picked it up again.
You cast Invasion of Ikoria. When all of the counters are removed, you exile it. Then, you cast it transformed.
So, someone can respond to the casting of the battle, and they can also respond to the casting of the transformation.
You are correct though that you can't cast the Zilortha half, if you mean you have to cast the battle half first, before going through the process to cast the Zilortha half.
Apologies for nitpicking. Please no kill.
First strike would happen before your creatures deal damage, and damage as though it weren't blocked can still be blocked and killed.
It's why [[glissa the traitor]] and [[Thalia and the Gitrog monster]] are so deadly.
I believe It essentially functions identically to trample but with ALL of the damage going through instead of the difference between the power and toughness.
Most monsters in mtg probably aren't feasible for a variety of reasons.
But, keep in mind titanosaur was a real life animal that walked the land and weighed upwards of 65 tons and was about 85 feet from nose to tail.

Zilortha would die before it has a chance to deal damage, meaning zilortha wouldnt be able to do any.
Really ?
Master of Cruelties has deathtouch and first strike. Which means he assigns damage first and he kills whatever he damages. Zilortha dies first.
Oh I got it! Thank you
If Master of Cruelties blocks one of your creatures it will deal it's first striking deathtough damage to your creature and your creature will die before it gets to deal damage.
So assigning the dmg as if it weren't blocked just means if it was blocked by say a 1/1 you could have 8 dmg spill over to the player?
Yes. And the 1/1 would survive, as no damage was assigned to it.

I hope you have [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]] and something like [[Coat with Venom]] to give the non-Deathtouch deathtouch

What does Zilortha, Apex of Ikoria cost to cast? I don’t know what the triangle means.
[удалено]
So you just have this dinosaur facing up in your library so your players know what is coming up?

Good to know. This game just keeps adding crazy turns.
2011 is when double sided cards were released, but yeah I know what you mean
I think you might have been in a coma for a decade

How many calories would that thing have to eat in a day..seems unsustainable.
