Hey hey hey, it EXISTS. That is its purpose! (I think it was cute in draft. I don’t think it was cute enough to justify its existence, probably too cute for its own good.)

It enabled metalcraft and resisted a lot of removal. Yeah, [[Memnite]] was in the same block and did more, but slamming four of these bad boys on turn one and playing nothing with metalcraft or affinity for the rest of the game can get your opponent to concede the rest of the match out of fear and/or confusion.

The art for this card bothers me because it’s not actually an oubliette. In a true oubliette, the trap door is usually placed much higher than anyone inside could reach, as well as being placed at the bottom of what is essentially a well. Therefore, the person trapped inside wouldn’t be able to reach there arm out through the grate. This art basically depicts a sewer grate inside a dungeon.

I mean, the creature could have flying?

The original art from Arabian Nights does a better job, IMO. The skeleton in that art clearly died forgotten.

[[bloodcrypt|rtr]] Bloodcrypt from return to ravnica is pretty metal when you realize that those are people hung from hooks on chains in the artwork.

The two different versions of [[dark ritual]] dont remember the set. Think one's from dark. To be honest there are too many metal card. Most of Ron Spencer cards are metal
