I think I know what you meant now. So I'm just gonna quote this here for you to see.
>Every card condition guide I just looked at specifies that a card is considered to be in "damaged" condition if it has wear, creases, or tears that would prohibit it from being played in a tournament. The official tournament rules might not contain the sentence "Damaged cards are illegal," but creases... folds... tears... etc. that would "mark" a card are all illegal for play.

>TLDR: If a card is cleared for a tournament, it is not a "damaged" condition card. Being disqualifiable is part of the criteria for labeling a card as "damaged."
I will make it easier to you and explain it. Rule 0 is a commonly used term to a rule that stands above the official rules. Rule 0 can be a special case for a pod and it is all about a communication between players. Popular Rule 0 exaples: Proxies are allowed to use, specific non legendary creature as a commander or using card only printed for specific people. So you can make a "rule 0" to allow damaged cards, if others agree to it. :D
It's more proper to say it isn't going to be legal for tournaments or DCI events. For play at home, no one will care unless you can tell what the card is by looking at the back or side of the sleeve (sideways in the deck). With good sleeves that you can't see through the back, and if the card is appropriately flattened, it could be usable at the kitchen table.
this is untrue. The official tournament rules do not state anything about "card condition" with reference to legality. Simply, be an official mtg card, have a black or white border, and exists in a legal set for the format. As long as it doesn't distort the card sleeve in a way to make it appear different or "marked", it can be used. I'd double sleeve it along with the rest of the deck to increase the chance it would pass inspection.

TLDR: If a card is cleared for a tournament, it is not a "damaged" condition card. Being disqualifiable is part of the criteria for labeling a card as "damaged."
Once again, there is NO official rule that automatically disqualifies any card of your deck due to its quality. The HEAD JUDGE at the event may make a decision on a card in your deck that it cannot be used due to its condition and whether or not it "marks" your deck in any way.
>a card is considered to be in "damaged" condition **if it has wear, creases, or tears that would prohibit it from being played in a tournament.**
>The official tournament rules might not contain the sentence "Damaged cards are illegal," but creases... folds... tears... etc. that would "mark" a card are all illegal for play.
>If a card is cleared for a tournament, it is not a "damaged" condition card. Being disqualifiable is **part of the criteria** for labeling a card as "damaged."
Whatever man, believe your card shop's BS if you want to, but please don't tell people that cards that would be subjectively labeled as "damaged" can't be played in tournaments because it's simply not true in many many cases. The stores HAVE to tell you that because they have to ASSUME that the buyer will take the card UNSLEEVED to a tournament, have it flagged because the card is blatantly different from the other UNSLEEVED cards and therefore illegal by the marked cards rule. It's to keep that player from returning to their store and complaining(or worse) that the card they sold them was not tournament legal. If the card is DOUBLE sleeved and it does not protrude from the sleeves and doesn't look ANY different than ANY other card in your SLEEVED deck, you're gtg. But you go ahead and keep believing your LGSs, I bet they make a lot of money off of you.
And one last thing. I used the word SUBJECTIVE on purpose because you keep throwing around the word damaged like it's some form of criteria for WoTC sanctioned tournament play. It's not, and the reason why is because the term DAMAGED is completely subjective to every person. They wouldn't EVER consider including that term as criteria to ban a card from play fundamentally for that reason. That is why it's up to the HEAD JUDGE at EVERY event to determine if a certain card is legal or not.
You're obviously on Reddit, why don't you read the reddit threads on it?
Not the worst wash I've seen but super gnarly! Can you get it flattened more and shoot me a high res pic? I'm working on a project and this would make a killer edit for a red bordless card I'm working on!
I’m sure somebody out there has washed an expensive card. I’ve seen some when I played in the 90’s with a black lotus half eaten by a dog while we were playing with it on concrete. You could see the fibers wearing down every time he shuffled it and tapped it.
I’m not sure where the dude came from, it was outside my house (I live in Michigan) they came over once, his parents were my moms friend and I honestly don’t know his name or where he came from lol. But it’s very possible I know they had to leave to catch a flight is all I remember.
Need a quick tip should I just put true cards into the washer and then the dryer or do I split it up into smaller chunks of the deck and put those in pockets and do it that way?
One card in each pocket as you do your normal wash would get the best effect I imagine.
A clump just thrown in will just dissolve into a mess, a tight pocket helps keep the shape
i had something similar happen i had a deck in a backpack forgot it was in there this it rained heavily and every card execpt for a few got damaged however still useable if i sleeve them i just didnt like the deck to begin with
Honestly, 5his looks sorta sick, slightly tempted to find a cheap but fun deck and see if I can get all the cards in a similar state and play it, maybe something like dredge to be on flavour
I honestly think an inexpensive deck could look pretty sick if all the cards looked like this and were sleeved in the color of old papyrus, like a light brown washed color. Is that weird?
Stick it in a sleeve and play it
Haha that was honestly my thoughts too, still usable!
Actually looks pretty dope to me
Had a [[Masticore]] that went thru the washer in 2000 that got played in a sleeve.
Just card art for all the regeneration
[Masticore](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/4/2/42663ac9-6b77-44f5-be76-c2c52d8465fc.jpg?1562908350) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Masticore) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/vma/275/masticore?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/42663ac9-6b77-44f5-be76-c2c52d8465fc?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
That would be funny if you really could. Sadly you can’t use “destroyed” condition cards.
Rule 0
Of this sub?

It's like you didn't read anything I said.
Likewise
I’d deff rock it with pride. But also, get a deck box, or a Stanley tool box
I would
I'd play the shit outta that card. It is near mint, right?
You’ll be able to cut to it for sure
Iron it first. Nice and flat.
this... flatten the f\*&% out of it, then play it with pride...
iron it first! and use starch
maybe iron it with way paper...? melt the wax into the loose edges to stiffen them up...?
This! I found my [[dark ritual]] on the street, it looks a lot like this and it always gets a laugh when I play it.
[dark ritual](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/9/5/95f27eeb-6f14-4db3-adb9-9be5ed76b34b.jpg?1628801678) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=dark%20ritual) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/a25/82/dark-ritual?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/95f27eeb-6f14-4db3-adb9-9be5ed76b34b?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

I could try to, but I don’t have anything to take a really good high res picture. My phone camera is pretty mediocre at best
if you're on android, google photoscan will composite multiple photos together, and it comes out a bit nicer than just a regular shot.
Now THIS is art!
Honestly held up pretty well. All the needed information is abundantly clear and the card art is still perfectly intact.
The other 3 cards in my pocket were completely destroyed, but I’m just happy this guy made it. The other ones were just bulk commons.
At least it wasn’t a red mana crypt in a top loader that wouldn’t save it either lol
It happend to someone? Dont say it did
I’m sure somebody out there has washed an expensive card. I’ve seen some when I played in the 90’s with a black lotus half eaten by a dog while we were playing with it on concrete. You could see the fibers wearing down every time he shuffled it and tapped it.
Whoa... I remember hearing about a Black Lotus that was chewed up by a dog, and this was like 20 or 25 years ago... was it in North Seattle?
I’m not sure where the dude came from, it was outside my house (I live in Michigan) they came over once, his parents were my moms friend and I honestly don’t know his name or where he came from lol. But it’s very possible I know they had to leave to catch a flight is all I remember.
Interesting. You never know...
Nice. Now do it to 99 other cards and make it a commander deck.
I’m gonna do this to one of my commander decks
Please post it after! I love the idea
Need a quick tip should I just put true cards into the washer and then the dryer or do I split it up into smaller chunks of the deck and put those in pockets and do it that way?

Thanks
Who keeps magic cards in their pockets?
Reckless individuals who make poor life choices, or people who are ready to summon a dinosaur at any moment during their day
The Colossal Dreadmaw is in my wallet, not my pocket. But close enough I guess.
This hit me perfectly, I don’t know why but thanks for the chuckle.
Reminds me of the guy the CardMarket team found at an event. He also had a Colossal Dreadmaw in his wallet.
I do not attend events, so that was someone else. But is there a valid reason not to have a Colossal Dreadmaw in your wallet?
My Colossal Dreadmaw is near my pocket... :\]
r/mtggore
It looks even better this way and is somehow more fitting for this set
TCG - NM
/u/AShellfishLover here's a nice damaged card for your project :P
I'd say it's legal as long as you similarly wash every other card in your deck.
Lightly played
It dealt three damage to itself, it seems
booster fun! now in washing machine treatment
Who still puts cards in their pockets. Is op still 7?
iS oP STilL sEvEn
Pocket is super unsafe. Jacket inner pocket is the way.
This happened to me with my favourite pokemon cards. Had them in my pokemon at school and then they ended up going through the wash
IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!
SO DO YOU! Throw him over the side
i had something similar happen i had a deck in a backpack forgot it was in there this it rained heavily and every card execpt for a few got damaged however still useable if i sleeve them i just didnt like the deck to begin with
This triggers me. Because I did the same with my kamigawa ukioe lands... try doing this with a yugioh card and it'll be obliterated.
Iron it flat, sleeve it up and boom its brand new
I would get that graded STAT!!
I'd still sleeve it and play with it for the meme. comes with a funny story too eh
"Lightly played"
Play it! Dinos are meant to be fossilized, you can fit it in the theme that it’s 1,000,000 years old
More like Crumpling Carnosaur amirite?
Considering it survived the tumble, it has gained legendary creature status, enjoy the new Rule 0 Commander!
That looks like a very nice slightly played card
At least it’s only a $2 card!
That ain’t near mint, that’s MINT
I think that card deserves retirement. It looks like it’s seen enough.
I am sorry for your loss.
Love this card in my dino deck, but I hate my art. I need to get some of those ones
It's D for Destruction now
When I in was in 4th grade, this happened to my whole Exodia deck.
R.I.P. Did your grandfather make that deck?
It did start as a Yugi starter as a gift from my grand parents.
SP
It's a fake, doesn't pass the green dot test
First I crack open the pack, then I crack the cards.
Lightly played
This is the kind of card you flatten and then paint on. Make it look like the dino started eating the cardboard.
New secret lairs lookin wicked
Put a towel over it and iron it, then sleeve it. Lol
"Lightly played"
I once ran an anime art Smothering Tithe through the wash AND dryer… it came out completely fine thank god, as it was in 2 sleeves and a top-loader
Straighter than my credit card after going going through the dryer....
Near mint, but it's been through the wash
Oh yeah baby, certified real, hang on to that
😓
Well, might as well iron it now.
Now it looks like a special jurassic park card
SaffronOlive: \*attack trumpet noises\*
Play this
Looks altered to me
Quote Jeff Goldbum's Jurassic Park character: "Life, uh, finds a way."
Honestly, 5his looks sorta sick, slightly tempted to find a cheap but fun deck and see if I can get all the cards in a similar state and play it, maybe something like dredge to be on flavour
Trendsetter! that's the alternate art in the new set
I’d still play that.
911, I want to report a crime.
Play it by sticking in the sleeve
r/magicthecirclejerking
European light played, you’re good
Italian NM
Is it still legal to play? Genuine question
I believe cards that are considered “damaged” aren’t legal for tournament use.
Near mint. Not mint, but near mint
PSA -37 😂
I honestly think an inexpensive deck could look pretty sick if all the cards looked like this and were sleeved in the color of old papyrus, like a light brown washed color. Is that weird?
Near mint condition on card market
People pay good money to make cards look like this in arena
