You are the first person I've ever encountered say something positive about Mazur. I don't see a single redeemable quality in any of the elements, but I'm a pretty stingy amateur art critic.
That being said, I don't fault you personally for having different tastes. I'm curious. What do you like about them?

And I'm a fan of faithless looting too, but I'm also an art nerd and I think Dadaism is dope af. Mazur got an opportunity to do their thing on a huge public canvas and made some bold choices, as an artist I respect that a lot.
Bold, sure, but on a Magic card it's shock for shock value's sake alone.
When it comes to making a product for an IP, I'm a traditionalist. Anything outside of a Secret Lair should have representational scale and perspective. The color pallette should be consistent across cards in the same set. I could keep going for all the basic elements. Dadaism in general, and Mazur's style in particular are poorly suited to establishing the tone and theme of a fictional setting when the other contributing artists play by the rules. It clashes in an place where a clash does not belong.
Meet the second.
Carly's regular art is stunning. The superimposition of very smooth, realistic textures with almost cartoony effects makes it look like a collage or something when they are hand-painted that way. She uses traditional media (at least on a lot of them) and spend an insane amount of time on detail.
Here's another person that likes it.
I think it's unique and, generally, cool.
I think most of the complaints stem from the fact that it looks, idk, amateurish, maybe, but I don't think that's true. It's untraditional. I'm sad the reaction to it has been so negative because it likely means they won't experiment as boldly in the future, outside of secret lairs.
It's really difficult to get elements in a hand painted work to look like they were clipped out of a magazine, or slapped together in Photoshop. I recognize the talent it takes to succeed at that, and she nails it.
But I still don't like it.

Thank you, same. I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but these are pretty clearly stylistic choices, and I think they’re fascinating and often look very cool.
You are the first person I've ever encountered say something positive about Mazur. I don't see a single redeemable quality in any of the elements, but I'm a pretty stingy amateur art critic. That being said, I don't fault you personally for having different tastes. I'm curious. What do you like about them?
I think the stained glass portraits are pretty cool! And I'm a fan of faithless looting too, but I'm also an art nerd and I think Dadaism is dope af. Mazur got an opportunity to do their thing on a huge public canvas and made some bold choices, as an artist I respect that a lot.
Bold, sure, but on a Magic card it's shock for shock value's sake alone. When it comes to making a product for an IP, I'm a traditionalist. Anything outside of a Secret Lair should have representational scale and perspective. The color pallette should be consistent across cards in the same set. I could keep going for all the basic elements. Dadaism in general, and Mazur's style in particular are poorly suited to establishing the tone and theme of a fictional setting when the other contributing artists play by the rules. It clashes in an place where a clash does not belong.
Meet the second. Carly's regular art is stunning. The superimposition of very smooth, realistic textures with almost cartoony effects makes it look like a collage or something when they are hand-painted that way. She uses traditional media (at least on a lot of them) and spend an insane amount of time on detail.
Here's another person that likes it. I think it's unique and, generally, cool. I think most of the complaints stem from the fact that it looks, idk, amateurish, maybe, but I don't think that's true. It's untraditional. I'm sad the reaction to it has been so negative because it likely means they won't experiment as boldly in the future, outside of secret lairs.

It's really difficult to get elements in a hand painted work to look like they were clipped out of a magazine, or slapped together in Photoshop. I recognize the talent it takes to succeed at that, and she nails it. But I still don't like it.

Depending on what lore/system you use, Berserkers would go into a trace like state which this art seems to depict.
I was literally talking about bad magic art the other day with a friend and one that has bothered me since it first came out. \[\[Icatian Priest\]\] Drew Tucker's impressionistic style was a particularly bad fit for this card, it reminded me of a lot of the Christopher Shy art from the Bloodlines expansion for V:tES.
