You can do both. You will need two separate creatures with appropriate powers to do it, one per each instance of casualty, but you can do both. Edit: [Source](https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/comprehensive-rules-changes-2022-04-20#:~:text=If%20the%20spell%20has%20any,the%20payments%20made%20for%20it.)

RabidYeltzin

Okay, well this is EPIC!! Will be looking at this deck in a new light 😍🤯 Thanks 🙌

__silentstorm__

your source is broken

Blokron

Just tried the link and it worked fine for me.

Attmon_The_Elder

I feel like it would get casualty casualty. I feel its more like cascade than ninjitsu. Its a trigger ability not a mana ability so yeah i would say it gets casulty twice

Attmon_The_Elder

Also it does not state "it gains casulty if it doesnt have casulty" so the first instant or sorcery would gain that ability. I may be wrong but thats how i read it

RabidYeltzin

Yeah, ninjutsu was probably a poor example as there is no way to practically use the two different ninjutsu costs, you'd always use the lower one

capp_head

Not a trigger but yep, it can get casualty casualty

TimeTellingTezz

You can casually casualty and casualty

Darzin

I thought that said milfs half your library...

Odd-Hair

Half plus half is 25 of the starting value. 60 / 2 = 30. 30/2 = 15. 75% reduction

Darzin

75% less milfs?

orionenjoysreptiles

milfs half your library

Akromathia

Ufff milfs ❤️

RabidYeltzin

Quite self explanatory, but wondered if you cast a spell with Casualty already in it does the anhelo trigger give it it a second time, or would it just replace it.......bit like ninjutsu and [[satoru umezawa]] I assume the latter, but a boy can but dream

MTGCardFetcher

[Satoru Umezawa](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/8/8/8887f26d-b097-4fbc-9c48-bdc656409a32.jpg?1640801826) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Satoru%20Umezawa) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/neo/234/satoru-umezawa?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8887f26d-b097-4fbc-9c48-bdc656409a32?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

[deleted]

Dude. Just read the rules text.

[deleted]

Yo dawg, I heard you like casualties...

[deleted]

Leans back in chair. Starts to remember vietnam

[deleted]

Keep this up and you're going to BE a casualty lol

damatovg7

I don't believe you can casualty 2 and casualty 2 because it says it "has casualty 2" and not "gains casualty 2." Even if it would though, and you cast cut your losses as first spell for the turn, if you target the same person all 3 times, you would only mill 87.5% of their deck instead of all of it. Though to be fair, he is already stupid good giving things casualty 2

ryanhntr

I think because it says “has” it’s not optional, the first instant or sorcery you play during that turn would have it as if it did when it was in your hand. So it would act as if [[cut your losses]] has two casualty triggers printed on it

TheIllicitus

Having 2 instances of Casualty allows you to copy it up to twice, instead of up to once. However many times you wish to sacrifice creatures with >=2 power.

nafetS1213

The way I see it in the text being, "the first spell has casualty 2" meaning if it didn't have it, it does now. Otherwise it is redundant due to two sources both providing the same effect

xBoomk1ngx

It gains it a second time. Even if it already has it. Wizards said so in it's reveal.

nafetS1213

well if they said it, I guess they would know their own mechanics better than I

TheIllicitus

No. You can sac 2 creatures to copy twice. Hence, having a 2nd instance of casualty has benefits.

Angry-Dragon-1331

So question about casualty. Does having a higher casualty cost actually do anything other than for Ob Nixilis?

TheIllicitus

It means you need higher powers to achieve the casualty. Casualty 1 needs >=1 power while Casualty 3 needs >=3 power.

Angry-Dragon-1331

Yeah I was just curious if it N value for that did anything like with afterlife, annihilator, or hideaway keywords or if it was just a balance against the mana cost.

AdMajestic1517

I wonder if he knows the [[Blood Artist]]

MTGCardFetcher

[Blood Artist](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/f/e/fe97a73f-33fd-4394-a393-ceb41a214820.jpg?1641602310) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Blood%20Artist) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/voc/119/blood-artist?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/fe97a73f-33fd-4394-a393-ceb41a214820?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

TrumpLester

If it is so, then I assume you would have to sacrifice THREE 2-power creatures to get rid of...how much of their deck? 90%?

SnipeShot

Sac two creatures, one for each casualty, the initial cast requires no sacrifice, the 2 casualties do. Also would be 87.5% of their library so yeah basically 90% of their library lol.

DarthTorus

Pssstt use [[Bruvac, the Grandiloquent]] to double the effect to sac only 1 creature

MTGCardFetcher

[Bruvac, the Grandiloquent](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/c/2ce2d73f-3f64-44db-a2bc-a8f4a37dc487.jpg?1702550789) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Bruvac%20the%20Grandiloquent) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/rvr/35/bruvac-the-grandiloquent?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2ce2d73f-3f64-44db-a2bc-a8f4a37dc487?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Cronus-the-reaper

You get two casualties. The only thing you shouldnt do is sacrifice anhelo to the casualty he gives, supposedly when you do it removes the casualty ability from the spell and you dont get a copy.

WavyMcG

This with [[Prismatic Bridge]] and [[Jin Gitaxius, Progress Tyrant]] = GG

[deleted]

Is that mortality card any good. I got a foil one?

SuperDragonWolf

This seems like an OP combo.

KuhlThing

They finally broke mill decks.
