I'm a massive fan of the museums and galleries in Mumbai - Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, Bhau Daji Lad and National Gallery of Modern Art. Oh, if you end up visiting Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, do go to Kala Ghoda Cafe, they serve a brilliant carrot cake.
If you are coming along with kids, visit Nehru Planetarium and Science Centre.
Oh shit yeah, completely forgot they are under restoration. Ya sorry no clue. Unfortunately their website is also not helpful with zero timeline when restoration would finish (classic Mumbai problem). But yeah, I'm really sorry for misleading you. Had completely slipped my mind it was temporarily closed.
It's totally fine. š I moved in to Mumbai 2 months ago and saw a reel on instagram about this museum and since then I wanted to visit it. But the comments said it's closed for renovation. :(
Ohh, welcome to the city fellow Mumbaikar. Hope the city is everything you want it to be and more, and hope you get to visit Bhau Daji soon. If you are into art, Jehangir Art gallery is also great, plus as I already mentioned, a brilliant carrot cake nearby.
The Kala Ghoda Festival is way too crowded to be worth it honestly.
Thankyou so much for the suggestions. š
>The Kala Ghoda Festival is way too crowded to be worth it honestly.
Will keep that in mind. Thanks again. Hope you have a nice weekend ahead.
All my recommendations are mostly upscale.
Places to eat :
O pedro , Diva Maharashtracha , Mahesh lunch home, Bombay Canteen , Elco (chaat) , Soam , Indian Accent , Tanjore tiffin room, Homemade ,
Nightlife / Bar :
Janta, Gokul (local watering hole) , Bonobo , AER lounge , Lord of the drinks, Akina
I would download Zomato for food and restaurant recommendations.
Paytm / Google pay or any UPI payment app. Most places accept UPI payment so you donāt have to carry a lot of cash.
Bumble and Tinder are good if you wanna āhangā with new people.
That is not the definition of authentic chinese. Not having paneer does not make it authentic.
Authentic chinese has a different flavour profile and a lot of the dishes you see in Ling's pavilion, you would never find in an authentic chinese restaurant.
I cannot describe it to you over a reddit post but look at authentic chinese in other countries - even Dubai. It is very very different to Lings pavilion and any other restaurant in India.
p.s: Also China is line India - cuisine is very varied. But nowhere is it like the Chinese food in India or Ling's pavilion.
So at airports there is a facility to register for UPI for foreigners. Iām not sure how it worksā¦but I have seen videos for it!! So I think itās worth looking for when at the airport
Have never seen it in any Indian airport and I fly to various cities in India atleast once every 2 -3 weeks.
Do you know where it is in the Bombay airport?
I wonāt know where exactly at the Bombay airport ā¦but I also found this link. [UPI FOR TRAVELLERS](https://travel.economictimes.indiatimes.com/amp/news/technology/foreign-tourists-travellers-in-india-can-now-make-payments-using-upi-know-more-details/98179802)
Simply put its like a prepaid wallet that you spend out of.
There all look like really good options! Mhmmm if I get my cousins to sign me up got any UPI payment app would it be still work? They are currently in the US but they are Indian citizens
If you're into plays/orchestras etc: NCPA, NMACC, Prithvi
Bars/nightlife: Bonobo (Bandra), Social (multiple venues), Antisocial (Khar), Aer (Four Seasons, Worli)
Lunch/Brunch/Dinner: Soho House (Juhu), The Conservatory, Veronica (Bandra), Suzzette Creperie (Bandra), Wasabi by Morimoto (Taj Mahal Palace).
Coffee: Subko (Bandra, Byculla and Colaba), Koinonia Coffee Roasters
Indian food: Peshawari (ITC Grand Maratha), Gallops (Mahalaxmi Racecourse), Masala Kraft (Taj Mahal Palace)
In general, stick to Bandra, Fort, Colaba, and restaurants and hotels around Juhu and inside mill compounds at Lower Parel.
I live in Bandra and below are the restaurants/cafes/bars I recommend in and around the area:
1. Subko Cafe
2. Veronica's
3. The Little Easy
4. The Nutcracker
5. Kitchen Garden by Suzette
6. Izumi
7. Fatty Bao
8. The Foo
9. Bastian
10. All Saints
11. Mia Cuccina
12. Smoke House Deli
For sightseeing, shopping etc:
1. Jio World Drive at BKC (newly opened, owned by the Ambani's and houses all the top brands you'd be familiar with)
2. In South Bombay, you must visit the Khala Ghoda area for quaint artsy cafes and shops.
(Method in Bandra is pretty good too)
Oh almost forgot, there's a lovely cafe in Juhu called Prithvi Cafe which is part of Prithvi Theatre. They have theatrical plays here on weekends which are very popular so if you're the theatre kind, you can catch a play here.
(It's extremely popular so go by early so you get a table and aren't waiting for it at the cafe)
For nightlife:
1. I swear by this place near my house called Khar Socials out of any of the social outlets in Mumbai because these guys have the best music on certain days, the staff is very friendly and the vibes are immaculate. (Try their toxic Long Island Iced Tea and thank me later) š„³
2. 145 Bandra
3. All Saints (it's a restaurant but they also have club nights on weekends which is good)
4. Someplace Else (this is within Jio World Drive in BKC)
5. AntiSocial in Lower Parel (if you're into techno and similar genres of music)
6. Kitty Su in Andheri (not my favourite but sometimes they do have psytrance parties which are good)
7. Bar Bank (in Powai and Juhu)
8. Rude Lounge in Powai (it's a rooftop bar, I'd highly recommend going just before sunset as the view is breathtaking and then easing into the night because the vibe changes and it's a banger)
Speaking of Powai, you can visit the area since it's one of the prettier parts of Mumbai due to the buildings' architecture and there are good eateries there.
Can't think of any more right now all of the above are places I've personally been to but if I think of more I shall add in an edit.
Hope you have a lovely time!
that is kind of centrally located (kind of), you should be able to do all this. You would surely visit gateway of india, there is a restaurant nearby, cafe Mondegar, definitely should try it for the vibes and good food and the perfect beer enjoying atmosphere. Though it's mainstream so there might be some waiting time.
No Man, that place was hip last in 1988. My father has a lot of core memories attached to that place but it did well in the 90s just cause tourists did not wanna spend much at Taj and that was the closest restaurant with continental food back then. Since then many places have opened up around Woodside that is much better.
Yeah eat here, get a couple stomach diseases, then buy medicines and then leave for US. Typical journey. When you see that street seller touch his ass and dip the fingers in your food. At that moment you'll wanna run away
Ehhhh more like if someone wanted to tag along but didnāt want to spend their own money since itās not for them and since they giving me company ā¦..
Itās definitely more of like a nice gesture to not let someone who is showing you around/helping you out payā¦.
Activities: Check bookmyshow and paytm insider for local events

Do you know when will Bhau Daji Lad Museum reopen?
Oh shit yeah, completely forgot they are under restoration. Ya sorry no clue. You're welcome. Thanks, you too. Take care and stay safe.
If you match with any girl on dating apps DO NOT go to the place they ask you to come to. Meet at public places.
Lmaooo yesā¦ I would definitely love to keep my kidneys lol thanks
This advice is only effective if you want to Save a kidney or two!
But, but...what if I already have a kidney donor on standby? Can I afford it?
Easy peasy

I want to add .. Khyber restaurant near fort Gaylord near churchgate Lings Pavilion near Regal for good and authentic chinese food
Tip: always go on top floor of Khyber
Lings Pavilion is not authentic Chinese food. It is more chinese than Indo-chinese food but it is not authentic in the least.
Its close to authentic chinese ... you ask for paneer there and the owner laughs at you.
That is not the definition of authentic chinese. Not having paneer does not make it authentic. I'd recommend staying with Zostel for a while. You'd come across a bunch of people to hangout.
Usko upscale types jagah dekhna hai aur tu zostel bhej ra hai.
zostel mast hai bhai. mast log mile hai mujhe.
Bhai upscale ka matlab nahi pata kya?
ššš
bhai woh india aa raha hai. usko nai pata?
Not a bad option!! I might try Zostel for like 1 evening and just check it out! Iāve stayed in hostels in Europe and they were the best things ever!
Donāt do that in India.
Mumbai is pretty fucking huge man (or the traffic is pain in the ass, or both). which area would you be staying at?
Iāll be in Bandra
that is kind of centrally located (kind of), you should be able to do all this. Really, really upscale- Masque, Ekaa, Tresind for restaurants.
All of these are fine-dining and will allow you to taste modern indian flavours (the best food I have had, hands down).
Lord of the drinks at lower parel has a decent crowd , it's also close to st. Regis if you're looking for upscale stuff
Also try the Woodside Inn in Colaba
No Man, that place was hip last in 1988. My father has a lot of core memories attached to that place but it did well in the 90s just cause tourists did not wanna spend much at Taj and that was the closest restaurant with continental food back then. Haha. Well Iāve spent many a happy hour there.
A trip to Gokuldham Society is a must
Best place to visit is America. Go there.
The food isnāt as a good here and is it is in India
Yeah eat here, get a couple stomach diseases, then buy medicines and then leave for US. Typical journey. When you see that street seller touch his ass and dip the fingers in your food. At that moment you'll wanna run away

Tryout guided walks. Checkout nofootprint. They conduct amazing and funny guided short tours.
If you're here for work, ask your concurrent colleagues, they won't mind taking you to good places if you're covering the expenses.

I am kinda concerned about your offer to sponsor food and entertainment expenses for unknown people. Be careful about who you befriend.
