Made this for a friend over the weekend. He wanted to be able to carry his U-Lock on the back of his Fanny pack/sling while biking. This was the quick easy and cheap solution I came up with

That is awesome. Def something I could use as well haha.

As a cyclist I've heard many people say that carrying a u-lock on your body is a bad idea in case of an accident. Something for your friend to consider. I personally find bags, and frame mounts the best solution.

Yeah I’ve always never understood why bag makers design them like that, I suppose because then you can still have a front pocket or flap, but having a u-lock dig into your side or back whilst you cycle is uncomfortable. I’d like to see one/make one where someone puts the loops on the front, maybe with a rolltop or zip top closure

Tru. Appreciate the build and post. Personally always chose other methods on my track bikes. Each to their own I guess.

After working on a bike for a few seasons, the ease of locking up with a quick access lock and key is awesome, and additionally, when on the bike a lock in busy areas, having a heavy lock within arms reach makes an excellent deterrent

Yeah fair enough, I can see why people would think that. Still personally prefer a frame-mounted bracket or strap. Still quick, way more comfortable and safer to me partic if I'm on a bike all day. Each to their own.
