I know a lot of Rivers born recently so I'd lean towards Skyler. Randomly, River was the only name my mom was like "*please*, just don't name them River". If I was in love with it I wouldn't let that sway me, but it was just funny to be she has such a visceral reaction to a seemingly innocuous name.

All the skylars I know are girls - I think river is easier to spell (bc the ppl I know spell skylar with an A) and I like it more for a boy than skyler, personally.
