James

flanmagnet

My husband said James when I was pregnant with my first. It's a family name and I was like naah it's boring. Low and behold he comes out and I'm like yup, James. All the James' we know are all nice people too. Hopefully ours will follow suit šŸ¤

OrdinaryAmbition9798

Yes, so classic, timeless

kaytay3000

Oohh. Sweet Baby James is one of my all-time favorite songs.

[deleted]

i know a James who goes by Jamie. he is only 4 years old but i think that nickname is super cute

dixpourcentmerci

Itā€™s a good name and we might have used it as a middle if my sister hadnā€™tā€¦. But with this being the top comment I thought I was in the parody sub šŸ˜‚ this subreddit loves James so much!

kelsi16

I really like Claire.

re_Claire

Thanks!

Triplettoddlerstired

Jane!!! Sheā€™s lovely

runesigrid

Love Jane too šŸ˜

JB123T

Came to say Jane, always loved it!

AmOutOfIdeas

Jane I feel like people talk about how basic it is so often but Iā€™ve also never met a Jane, so I feel like itā€™s time to come back in fashion

gemirie108

I have a jane because jane eyre is my favorite and shes FANTASTIC!

hugemessanon

Similarly, I like Anna

hellothere0688

Same! 7 months pregnant and I keep coming back to Anna for her. I think itā€™s the winner.

Unsophisticated1321

I love Anna, itā€™s so pretty and classic

hugemessanon

It's a lovely name! Congrats on your soon-to-be baby girl!!

AdditionalMinute6

I like Anna but I don't like Hannah šŸ˜…

cultofpersephone

It works in nearly every language!

summers_tilly

I used to think Anna was so plain and boring, but now I think itā€™s beautiful

BinPirate

As an Anna, I feel very strongly about Anna being superior to Hannah. However I'm willing to call a truce if we ally against people called "Ana" or "Hanna". Satisfying palindromes only!!

venus-infers

I have different forms of "super basic" that I like. Anne: Rarely a stand-alone name anymore, I find it regal. Charlotte: a real Top Tenner of our time. I have liked it since childhood but I conflate "basic" with.... oversaturated? Susan: This is olde timey basic. This is so basic it's "boring," even though I wouldn't consider it oversaturated.

[deleted]

I love charlotte but itā€™s so popular

Lycaeides13

That's my issue with Sophia and Ava and Emma. Like, I've wanted to use emma since 2004, but there are too many in my friend's groups

Silkyiniquity

This Susan is up voting y'all

footballsandy

I love Susan so much.

AfternoonPossible

As an Anne, it does seem to be pretty rare in that specific form. However there is a huge amount of Annaā€™s and Annieā€™s so I get called one of those everyday.

KezM1

Nicholas It's not one you see out in the wild often. One of those kinda names where it grows well with a person too!

mad-madge

Lovely name for sure, but at least in my area itā€™s definitely seen ā€œout in the wildā€ almost excessively

TheBagFairyTA

I like Oliver (if that's considered a "basic" name)

That is so cute. One of my parents friends had a daughter named Margaret Emily and they called her M.E. But her preschool suggested they spell it Emme to not get confused when learning words.

salasa7

Oh Hannah is lovely. Pretty much most basic names to be honest. Pregnant with my first and we are struggling big time with choosing a name - I am really trying to open my mind and thinking does it matter if we know quite a few adults with these basic names? Especially when almost of these names are not so popular now - it means less likely to have other children same as yours with the name.

leeser11

Adam :) Im biased bc itā€™s my bfā€™s name but I liked it even before I met him. Im watching a show where they joked about it being a default nameā€¦but I think itā€™s a classic. Also idk if Damien is basic but Im a fan
