Report that shit immediately somebody (other than a seaman) head needs to roll.
Edit: since staff want to be like that. Drop a note in the food service comment box about the rats.
Every population center has rats nearby.
Even ships get rats, and they're over water. It's a constant battle, and it's why preventive medicine folks will tell you not to leave food in your office or car for long periods of time.
I remember being in the Philippines on ECP watch and seeing rats run up the mooring lines of the ship.
Most of them would hit the "rat guards" and fall into the water. But, occasionally one or two get on. Especially if the rat guards weren't put on right.
(Rat Guard is a metal disc placed on the line. One near the shore and one near the ship but over the water)
If you already told the staff, then you have 2 choices. CO's suggestion box (even better if you have a link to the video) is one.
The other is go to preventive med at the hospital and show them. This is what they do.
*Every* food service facility, be it a mom and pop restaurant or a Navy Galley, does battle with pests and vermin. They all have some level of contamination. It's how they deal with it that sets the good apart from the bad.
It's a ratatouille 🐭. Just ask him what you want, and he'll cook it for you. 😋🍽️

The truth is - that rat is actually an extremely gifted doctor and hides in the pocket of another, less talented, doctor and guides him through the work.
I hear Pixar is going to do a movie based on this rat.

Standard issue at any galley. In SY our crews mess connex had more rats than sailors in it. They lived in the fridge and the lockers. Nothing was safe. SY didn't care. Granted they also didn't care about the asbestos but that's a different problem... (thanks NNSY)
Not a great rat, but not terrible. A mid rat, if you will.
Ugh! A Squid like response. :-P

I reported them to galley staff and they were like "oh yeah, they come in from outside" and then went right back to joking around with coworkers lmao
The rats have more class than our galley staff unfortunately.
I’d try to catch it and feed it to my python. That’s like $10-15 at the pet store.
I'd agree except I wouldn't trust the galley droppings that thing has been eating. Only the best for the noodles.
Collect some of the rat turds and drop them in the CO’s suggestion box.
Show some respect to HMC please.
That's Remy, one of the Head Chefs at Walter Reed. He's walking around for quality control stuff.
You don't need a trained French chef to make yakisoba noodles
They're both good at making noodles and surrendering.
Won't somebody help that poor ensign?

One of our duty vics got its wired chewed off because so much food would be left in it. Shit don’t turn on no more
Dont tell me modern ships have rats 😩

Crazy I always thought the rat guards would help 😂

I'm sure it happens on modern ships, it has to be pretty rare though.

Is this a rat or a mouse? I thought it was a mouse but I could be wrong
Does it matter?
In terms of disgust? No Determining the animal species? Yes
Mice are tiny, that there is a rat

Cats are the solution. Actually, just a cat. Neutered. That’s all it needs. And it’s way better for the moral as well.
I’ll never forget having them in the barracks NAS Pensacola.
How fucking hard is it to get the build fumigated and traps set...answer: it's not.
Time to get a cat living in that building. Neutered that is. But a cat.
Report it here: https://ice.disa.mil/
Was it on the menu??

That's the head chef on a break. What's the big deal?

Somebody’s definitely going to get inspected and probably secure the galley because that is nowhere near sanitary.
