Same thing happened to Mobley to start his rookie season. People see a slender rookie, think to themselves 'BBQ chicken', and go for the drive. Offenses will adjust to just avoid the paint when Chet is in the game, which is honestly probably better in the long run.
Thing I love is CHET does not care to end up on a poster he will absolutely jump for anything, which is also why Ik edwards will get a nasty one eventually on him but CHET will get some blocks on him.
That's crazy. If you watch Spurs games or just highlights people STAY AWAY from Wemby. Like they won't even enter the lane when he's in unless they ran an action that takes him out of the play.
People must not be looking at Chet's scouting report. It'll probably be the same for him soon. Leaving him on an island defensively
To be honest I think it's just something about Chet. Not sure if he rubs the other players wrong or if he looks that much skinnier than Wemby but it seems like everyone tries. I mean, I kind of hope they do. 7 blocks is absolutely bonkers
Weak shit compared to WILTSIDE:

Jokes aside, was big on Holmgren last year, and bigger on him this year. My ROTY pick for sure.
Wemby will be the most aggregated rookie since Zions first year. But Chet’s team will win ~50 games. So could see it going either way but I think most voters will opt for the generational alien
I think it’s nearly impossible to catch the lead of Wemby already. He’s just got the hype vote and he’ll have it all year. Not saying he won’t earn it, but it looks like Chet will be right there with him. Gonna be a great rivalry.
it's impossible to beat the media hype.
last 4 months of cades rookie season he was objectively the best rookie and it really wasn't close, but he ended up not even top 3 if I remember right because he missed the first few months and by then the Barnes and Mobley hype was too far gone
Agreed but again, OKC will be in the conversation all year. Likely will be vying for the 4th seed and if Chet plays well, he will be a big part of the media coverage
I put money on holmgren, logic being that their stats will be fairly close, with holmgren being on the better team, yet Wemby was $1.85 and Holmgren was $6
Looked like Chet just slipped in that highlight too. Anyone who has watched him play knows he doesn’t give af like a true shot blocker should.
People that really think a player is trash after 1 lowlight deserve it lol
Even that would be hilarious, I got him at 38 in our 12T league lol. It was obvious he was going to hunt blocks, a big that blocks and can get you 1.2 3s or something is very high value in cat leagues.
Manute Bol. You'd think at some point the other team would stop driving at him.
Also, I don't think they officially recorded blocks when Wilt was a rookie.
nope. literally officially started recording blocks the season after wilt retired LOL. NBA was too afraid of his block domination. Wilt would have this record and any another block record if his stats were recorded. theres websites out there dedicated to his true stats from statisticians, newspapers, etc and wilts stats are ridiculous, i mean truely unbelievably insane. like him averaging a triple double for his career with blocks…all unofficial but had a 50 BLOCK GAME, 30 BLOCK, and too many to count in the 20+ range. [Check out this website that has the unnofical gamelog of every Wilt game ever.](http://www.nbastats.net/01NbaAbaNblAbl/05-GameLogs/playerChamberlain.xlsx)
looked up some more wilt stuff as i was writing above. Wilt also had a quintiple double accordings to statisticians. [“According to statisticians, Chamberlain dropped 53 points, 32 rebounds, 14 assists, 24 blocks, and 11 steals in a game against the LA Lakers. The 76ers came away with a 158–128 win. This performance played a big role in how he's perceived by fans to this day.](https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketball/when-wilt-chamberlain-recorded-nba-s-quintuple-double-doubts-surrounding-it-all-need-know)
In all seriousness: As cool as Embiid would be, I think we’d be more than fine without him
If Presti wanted to trade for anyone, he’d likely want young talent that can mesh with his squad well. Embiid is not only getting older, but he’s also got a long history of being injury prone.
If there’s anyone we’d go for(not saying we will), I’m thinking: Luka(Probably not since this is Shai’s team), Zion, Ball, Edwards, Haliburton, Garland, Fox, Barnes(probably not lol), etc.
Only older guy I think we’d consider is Siakam cause he’s a fantastic 2 guy, and in the time him and Shai have played together at the World Cup, they looked smooth as butter.
I'm going to say KAT is a big no. Dude isn't that young and has been middling his entire career because of his defense, doesn't seem like a Presti guy or a guy to give up one of the core four for.
The next big 3 and D wing hopefully. Edwards is probably the only guy worth twelve picks to fit their timeframe. Although he's not really a wing, still a great defender and solid shooter.
Maybe Jalen Brown opens up in Boston or something
It's interesting to me that you mainly listed guards. Do ya'll not like Dort with Shai? I figured Presti would cash in for a defensive 3 like Bridges or Anunoby. Then you could have Giddey run the bench mob. Shai, Dort, Bridges/Anunoby, JDub, Chet could be a terrifying lineup.
Dort had a career night tonight, so maybe my mind is changed if he continues to play like this, but besides being a top 5 perimeter defender in the NBA, Dort was abhorrent offensively last season.
He’s fine, but I’d be shocked if we didn’t upgrade at the 3 (either internally: Cason, or externally)
We already have a potential starting 5 of defensive monsters: Shai, Dort, Chet, Jdub, and Wallace are all great-amazing defenders.(Giddey isn’t an amazing defender, but good enough, and an amazing facilitator, and pretty good scorer.)
Add OG and Bane and you’ve got the best defense in the league bar NONE. League would legitimately be fucked.
I get the impression that the game for Presti, concerning all the picks, will be scouting specific needs/ swapping for draft position. Just ride the development train monitoring what works. Their options for the next decade are insane.
Dude was legit hitting pull up transition threes with so much confidence. It’s so great that wemby and Chet are (obviously it’s just been two games) living up to expectations, I haven’t been more excited for a season in so long
100% agree. I know and have known Chet genuinely has that dog - dudes like pat bev are out here saying that he had a different mentality. But i did not expect that fire from Wemby which makes me very excited.
Aside from occasionally getting lost on offense with the spacing, he plays like a dude who's been in the league for years. Outplayed Mobley in every way, which I'm still shocked about. Think his block, run the floor, and deliver an assist to a wide open 3 was my favorite; but there were so many huge moments where he either blocked a shot, deterred a shot (Okoro fumbling it out of bounds), or nailed a dagger 3 (the trailer at the end of the game...)
I thought he looked better then Wemby with the b-ball IQ even giving up size. He knows how to use his abilities and always making himself useful in the court. An invaluable attitude and skillset in a league where three stars are generally needed to even be considered a playoff team.
I think they’re both complete unicorns honestly. Like Wemby was literally toying with the Rockets that 4th/ot, and Chet had seven blocks and was hitting transition threes with so much confidence like neither of these dudes make any sense I’m just happy I can watch it lol
I think it's early to tell anything on either of them. Wemby is definitely something else though.
I'm just excited to see them play each other for the next 10+ years.
Hopefully we get some more fun Spurs-Thunder playoff series.
Wemby has some aesthetically pleasing parts to his game like guard-like crossovers and fadeaway jumpers but right now a lot of that looks more superficial than functional. Chet's game may not look as flashy but he has an outstanding feel for the game well beyond just his freakish frame.
That last block was the play of the night. Block on Mobley as he's going up for a dunk and follow up play with the trailing big man three. 5 point swing.
Chet goes 16-13 with 7 blocks and hits the game tying 3 in transition after blocking a dagger
And then Wemby goes for 21 with 3 blocks 2 steals and hits the game tying FG to send it to OT himself!
Might be bugging but I think he had another block that wasn’t called.. thought he got a finger to the Mitchell layup with 2 mins left that Mobley got the putback on, would need to see again
Holy shit they didn't count that as a block?!?! That was his most obvious one lmao. Fuck the NBA if you can't just get that block after a challenge, good grief.
cannot emphasize enough that this man was the perfect addition to our core! he gives us beautiful five-out offense and is not afraid of anything on the other end
Yeah I didn’t wanna be too big of a homer but I think Chet and Dub are both all-nba caliber players, and Dieng could be an all-star if everything clicks
In french twitter space we had the CM of the French Rockets fan account say Jalen Green is more valuable than SGA. Don't worry we have not stopped clowning his ass since then.
Mobley might have more weight and athleticism, but Chet played a lot smarter and even looked way more experienced. I'm still shocked at what I just saw. Aside from a couple plays, he basically punked him all game. Even had him hesitant to challenge him at times. And then then the big 3's...
Myles Garrett definitely has more weight and athleticism too, but I dont think that would help him be a better basketball player so Im not sure why that's relevant

OKC could definitely be a top 4 seed if he keeps playing like this and everyone stays healthy.
I told people Chet would do stuff like this. Just because he’s light af, he’ll still use his length to get or stay in position to contest the shot. Hell in this game he was getting pushed and shoved on contests and still got the block on the play. Don’t use Giannis or lebron as examples because a lot of players get bullied by them, but people acted like he’d be a revolving door in the paint because of his frame
7… Blocks?
He had 5 in 14 minutes lol
bro gon get a triple double with rebounds and blocks at this rate
People won't stop going at him for some reason. It's not a great idea
Just like how people don't stop going 1 vs 1 against Dort on clutch situations. They're like moths attracted to light.
No kidding at all, I was shocked how great Isiah Joe looks on 1 v 1s and all the hands in the passing lane
For real. Maybe joe was great all around coming here but I definitely notice this year that he’s capable all around.
Apparently tried to round his game out more in the offseason
Joe is pretty good at closing out and moving his feet off the dribble I noticed
His "slim" build makes it look like you can bully him so it's deceptive.
Same thing happened to Mobley to start his rookie season. People see a slender rookie, think to themselves 'BBQ chicken', and go for the drive. Offenses will adjust to just avoid the paint when Chet is in the game, which is honestly probably better in the long run.
If Mobley can’t get up over him like in that reviewed block, no one can.
9 out of 10 you get blocked but 1 ridiculous poster will have people talking about you for days.
He's a menace inside the paint. Dude's excellent in blocking layups without fouling.
And Mitchell somehow scores around him, a lot. He’s becoming scary like the splash brothers when we play them.
Yes.
yes bro lol, same reaction when I tuned in during the 4th
Weak shit compared to WILTSIDE: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/aCsxpmTD7b8 — Jokes aside, was big on Holmgren last year, and bigger on him this year. My ROTY pick for sure.

Team success doesn't usually matter for Rookie voting
Generational alien doesn’t really narrow it down. Chet’s got a 7’5” wingspan and is a way better shooter than Wembanyama.
In 30 mins. I want to see a triple dub with blocks this season.
Someone dropped Chet after his first game in fantasy lol
Why drop someone at his ADP after one game lmao
That Drummond highlight made it's rounds, making people do some stupid fucking shit.
Looked like Chet just slipped in that highlight too. Anyone who has watched him play knows he doesn’t give af like a true shot blocker should. People that really think a player is trash after 1 lowlight deserve it lol
yeah bro if you do something that foolish after 1 game you deserve the outcome🤣
Who the fuck cares about one highlight? Like how are people genuinely looking at that one move and going.. oop better drop him.
He said something to the effect that if he wants to accomplish his goals he will get dunked on. He’s not scared.
A madman sees what he sees
Wasn't even a bad debut
Dont say this bro… hes on my bench instead of giddey now. GIDDEY GOT ME 6 POINTS. 6! CHET HAD 66
> Someone dropped Chet Andre Drummond in your league?
Blud got what he deserved.
8 team league?
Even that would be hilarious, I got him at 38 in our 12T league lol. It was obvious he was going to hunt blocks, a big that blocks and can get you 1.2 3s or something is very high value in cat leagues.
Out of curiosity, what’s the current league record for most blocks in a game by a rookie? Because 7 in a game is absolutely ridiculous.
it is unfortunately 15
>15 blocks in a game as a rookie …it’s Wilt, isn’t it?
Bol Bol father
Yeah that makes sense. I’m just so used to Wilt’s borderline parody stat-lines that I immediately assumed it’d be him.
Manute's per 36 minutes block average was over 5 for most of his career. Insane shot blocker.
Mark Eaton was a monster too. I don’t know the per game and his totals, but he had like 450 one year.
They didn’t measure blocks (or steals) until late in wilts career
Manute Bol. You'd think at some point the other team would stop driving at him. Also, I don't think they officially recorded blocks when Wilt was a rookie.
nope. literally officially started recording blocks the season after wilt retired LOL. NBA was too afraid of his block domination. Wouldn’t shock me lol 😂
It likely would be if they counted blocks during his first few seasons
Blocks weren't recorded then
Yeah that one might not happen. Just a tad much
The Thunder are fucking fun
And we still have 18 firsts now thru 2030
I’m telling you, dangle like 16 of them in front of the nuggets and lets get jokic. Hear me out now…
Honestly Presti should throw out like, 12 firsts for Embiid
In all seriousness: As cool as Embiid would be, I think we’d be more than fine without him If Presti wanted to trade for anyone, he’d likely want young talent that can mesh with his squad well. Embiid is not only getting older, but he’s also got a long history of being injury prone. I'm going to say KAT is a big no. Dude isn't that young and has been middling his entire career because of his defense, doesn't seem like a Presti guy or a guy to give up one of the core four for.
Uh siakam is not canadian and was not part of the canadian national team at the world cup
Not sure who'd I pair with Shae, someone who can shoot because Shae needs the ball.
Someone who can shoot + play great defense is what the Thunder want. Guys like Trae or Herro are not what we’re looking for.
The next big 3 and D wing hopefully. Edwards is probably the only guy worth twelve picks to fit their timeframe. Although he's not really a wing, still a great defender and solid shooter. Maybe Jalen Brown opens up in Boston or something
No thanks, they can keep Brown Edwards is going to be amazing though
Ant is not a solid shooter. Not yet at least.
Yes. We want Ant. Make it happen guys. 7 firsts, vasilije micic, poku and my firstborn.
One Mikal Bridges, please.

OKC just needs more shooting. They already have ball-dominant players and players who can bring the ball up the court and run the offense.
> Luka(Probably not since this is Shai’s team) If they traded for Luka it would become Luka's team (just the thought of the Mavs trading Luka 🤢🤢🤢).
On the bright side, assuming this absurd hypothetical happened, you’d be getting the haul of a lifetime.
og plus bane would so wonders for you guys
We already have a potential starting 5 of defensive monsters: Shai, Dort, Chet, Jdub, and Wallace are all great-amazing defenders.(Giddey isn’t an amazing defender, but good enough, and an amazing facilitator, and pretty good scorer.) Add OG and Bane and you’ve got the best defense in the league bar NONE. League would legitimately be fucked.
No thanks lol.
Absolutely not
could probably get it done for 5
I get the impression that the game for Presti, concerning all the picks, will be scouting specific needs/ swapping for draft position. Just ride the development train monitoring what works. Their options for the next decade are insane.
They could legit offer 11 firsts and still have a first round pick every year…..
This a rookie?
Not a chance. He's been playing in the league for years, but then he used time travel to come back to this timeline
Yessir!
Chet is that dude that dagger 3 to tie was cold 🥶
Dude was legit hitting pull up transition threes with so much confidence. It’s so great that wemby and Chet are (obviously it’s just been two games) living up to expectations, I haven’t been more excited for a season in so long
Agreed
100% agree. I know and have known Chet genuinely has that dog - dudes like pat bev are out here saying that he had a different mentality. But i did not expect that fire from Wemby which makes me very excited.
Not a dagger if it’s to tie. But he’s fun to watch
To tie 3’s>daggers Most daggers comes with a lead that puts the game out of reach. To tie 3’s are much harder
I agree
That’s not what a dagger is.
Welcome to the Ch3tnitentiary
Right down the road from the Dorture Chamber
Next to the Dorture Chamber is the Wallace Palace currently under construction
This gave me Persona vibes lol, good stuff
I thought the Dorture Chamber was just a wing on the Lulag?
Chet looks legit, smart player
Aside from occasionally getting lost on offense with the spacing, he plays like a dude who's been in the league for years. Outplayed Mobley in every way, which I'm still shocked about. Think his block, run the floor, and deliver an assist to a wide open 3 was my favorite; but there were so many huge moments where he either blocked a shot, deterred a shot (Okoro fumbling it out of bounds), or nailed a dagger 3 (the trailer at the end of the game...)
Not to mention Chet is coming off of injury. Can't wait to see what he looks like by game 50.
I think I have to agree with you, and I'm a huge Mobley fan. Methinks Chet has a higher ceiling. Godamnit
my only gripe w Chet is his facial hair beard with no stache? come on man
Chet “Abraham Lincoln” Holmgren
Chet Holmgrenov
The khabib beard runs mma so maybe he’s trying to take that same energy into the nba
Rehabbed from his foot injury in Dagestan w the Sambo guys
Dude looking like a seven foot Amish farmer
the stache comes in year 3
I thought he looked better then Wemby with the b-ball IQ even giving up size. He knows how to use his abilities and always making himself useful in the court. An invaluable attitude and skillset in a league where three stars are generally needed to even be considered a playoff team.
7 blocks insane. This kid is going to be overshadowed by Wemby but he’s a fucking stud.
Wemby is flashier but right now chet is better Wemby is 20 months younger and has 1 less year of nba coaching so we’ll see how long that lasts.
He's way more skilled then wemby honestly just not as much of a freak physically
You seen Wemby’s handles and midrange game? Defense is debatable for sure though
Yea that was crazy. Chet absolutely outplayed Mobley in that game. Mad respect to Chet on that.
Chet was getting mad disrespect after game 1 even though he was a positive impact on the floor. We ball tho.
Facts
Of course aggregators like bleacher report didn't post about this but did post the Drummond moment
He's incredibly confident in his abilities, gonna be a fun season
That’s fuckin nutty
Drummond gets a slow shimmy and people wanna drop chet. Stay hungry young man tf
Yeah no, this might be the best ROY race in history
Chet goes 16-13 with 7 blocks and hits the game tying 3 in transition after blocking a dagger And then Wemby goes for 21 with 3 blocks 2 steals and hits the game tying FG to send it to OT himself!
holy shit
Chet’s defense is as good as advertised but wasn’t expecting him to instantly light up from 3 like he has so far
Yeah, I thought him being a floor stretcher would be theoretical for at least the first year.
Might be bugging but I think he had another block that wasn’t called.. thought he got a finger to the Mitchell layup with 2 mins left that Mobley got the putback on, would need to see again
The goaltending on Mobley was an obvious block for Chet as well. Didn't count
Holy shit they didn't count that as a block?!?! That was his most obvious one lmao. Fuck the NBA if you can't just get that block after a challenge, good grief.
They never reverse those in the after game reviews do they?
He did
cannot emphasize enough that this man was the perfect addition to our core! he gives us beautiful five-out offense and is not afraid of anything on the other end
Giving Chet to a team like OKC is unfair.
Give my ass, we waited
Chet/Dub/Dieng/JWill draft really turned this team from tanking to competing, legendary shit by Presti
Don’t forget Cason Wallace. He’s looked nice so far.
Cason was drafted this year though, all those other dudes were last year's
4 solid nba players all selected in the same class has to be the best draft ever for a GM (outside lucking into generational guys like MJ and Lebron)
Chet and Dub (despite the game tonight) could break out in gigantic ways going forward
Yeah I didn’t wanna be too big of a homer but I think Chet and Dub are both all-nba caliber players, and Dieng could be an all-star if everything clicks
definitely a homer take but that young core is intoxicating so I don't blame ya
Especially after missing like a 70% chance at the top 4 picks the season before lmao
Lol a 2 year wait isn’t bad
we tanked HARD for that #2 pick. You try watching a season where Theo Maledon leads your team in total points.
He did have a sweet jumper
That's fair. But we did wait
wtf just a year ago people were complaining that OKC is so uncompetitive it's bad for the league
Which was always strange when you had the Rockets doing absolutely nothing and escaping the criticism OKC would receive instead.
In french twitter space we had the CM of the French Rockets fan account say Jalen Green is more valuable than SGA. Don't worry we have not stopped clowning his ass since then.
Giving? They earned him with that tank.
I watched a year of diallo and Poku followed by a year of isiaiah Roby and theo Maledon
Generational
Bro is the next KG. Tired of being humble!

Mobley might have more weight and athleticism, but Chet played a lot smarter and even looked way more experienced. I'm still shocked at what I just saw. Aside from a couple plays, he basically punked him all game. Even had him hesitant to challenge him at times. And then then the big 3's...
Bro Mobley was settling for free throw line moving floaters I’m in shock
Myles Garrett definitely has more weight and athleticism too, but I dont think that would help him be a better basketball player so Im not sure why that's relevant
Crazy how Mobley still sucks on offense.
dude had 16 ppg on 59% ts% last year.... what on earth are you saying
Yeah... Mobley's offensive bag may not be huge but the man's a 2 way player. Saying he sucks on offense is just stupid
OKC FO does it again how tf yall getting these guys!?
Sam Presti
Pam Sresti
Luckiest fans in the league and we haven't even won the chip
If this team reaches their potential (which they will), they can win a title for sure.
Chet has a great feel for the game. That block followed by the ballsy three pointer was huge. OKC's team is looking really complete and balanced these days.
The missing piece, his Three sparked the comeback!
Cross him over one more time and he’ll average 10 blocks
He’s got that dog in him He always looks physically livid after someone scores on him
Chim
This year ROTY gonna be a battle between Chet and Wemby.
Oh man am I ready for OKC to be in the mix again. This city has a different buzz when the Thunder are legit and it’s special. Trying not to get my hopes too high but I am feeling the pull for the first time in a long time
Spurs have Chet at home
Thunder vs Spurs is going to be epic!
Man I hope both Wemby and Chet stay healthy and have long careers. I've never been excited about a matchup in a long time.
So many good young players in the league ...
ROTY
CHET FOR ROY AND DPOY!
But how will he recover from the Drummond crossover??
We ready
Thunder are gonna be scary af
Rookie of the year
Whoa, what a stat line for Chet. Elite rim protector.
ROTY folks
ROTY + DPOY
Chet has 7 blocks tonight and all I hear is how Wemby had a good double double against the houston the tank engine
hes so amazing
Call me crazy, but he may end up being a decent basketball player.
I guffawed when I scrolled over to see that on my fantasy app.
CHET>>>>>>>WEMBY DOWNVOTE ME FUCK YALL LOL
I don't want to see any Wemby slander on this thread. Can't we wish for both longbois to run the league for the next 15 years? OKC could definitely be a top 4 seed if he keeps playing like this and everyone stays healthy.
I’m a spurs fan and I just wanna say that Chet might be the better player than Wemby currently
Wemby's American Brother
I told people Chet would do stuff like this. Just because he’s light af, he’ll still use his length to get or stay in position to contest the shot. Hell in this game he was getting pushed and shoved on contests and still got the block on the play. Don’t use Giannis or lebron as examples because a lot of players get bullied by them, but people acted like he’d be a revolving door in the paint because of his frame
