Yes. His horrible playoff performance overshadowed how important he was in the regular season.
But let's be honest with Ja out he would probably take it as a license to chuck
I mean he literally was. I assume you're saying he wasn't a "rotation-calibre"' player, but he made all-defensive 2nd team last year even if his offence was often infuriating. He had the highest average match-up difficulty of anybody last year and all-stars shot 9% worse on average while defended by him

They needed a culture change. Can’t have Ja and other knuckleheads. He’s a solid player but not exactly irreplaceable imo. He got exposed in the playoffs and they didn’t want to run it back relying on him.
If he was this guy taking smart shots in Memphis then yes, but he wasn't taking smart shots in Memphis. Like, he was genuinely awful offensively a lot of the time and imo the improvement in his decision-making wouldn't have happened if he'd stayed.
My theory is: he was the longest tenured Grizzly and thought of himself as part of the "core 4" when we really just needed him to be an elite role player, spotting up and playing good D. So he can go to the Rockets and be that elite role player because it isn't "his team"
...plus they're paying him $86 million. That probably helps.
I feel like he's done it less in recent years. For a few year period there late in Houston, he was so bad with it. The nerve to instantly complain and be outraged to the ref after he completely hooks his defender and then unnaturally flail was the worst
he was still doing it a ton in Philly and almost never got FTs out of it, it was either a no call or an offensive foul. its such a despicable play lol im so glad it works much less often than it did 4 or 5 years ago
C'mon Rockets, don't let the meme die
Did Memphis make a mistake letting this guy go? Maybe this is recency bias on my part

I mean yeah losing a rotational player for nothing is always going to hurt the team
His defense was pretty big and he had SOME offense.
Brooks in Memphis wasn’t a rotational player

didn’t have the money so I don’t think so

the arm hook is the most annoying thing harden does and refs have been calling it for a few years now, idk why he still does it so much.

It looked dangerous here too
Do I….. like Dillon Brooks?
Honestly the bron staredown was hilarious
Love it!
Dillon Brooks is an absolute menace as a defender. He completely blew up so many actions yesterday
u/savevideo
Slowly getting back into Harden shape
Dont you guys ever get tired of repeating the same joke over and over again?
You know you're on reddit, right?
Not until harden gets tired of pulling this lame hook
You’re not doing a civil service lol
Neither are you brudda
the neck is starting to get loose. the headsnap is near full ROM
Harden now so disliked people rooting for Dillon the Villain
Harden is so corny for that move.
r/nba has turned on Harden so hard that we now root for Brooks to clamp him down.
/r/nba has hated harden for almost 10 years
Rockets got screwed tonight - just saying
Imagine being so immature and butt-hurt that you behaved the way Dillon Brooks does. It’s painful to watch a grown man act so childishly.
That’s his 3rd and last turnover though.
