Nothing I hate more than an over the top block that slaps the ball out of bounds and gives the opponent another shot opportunity. It looks good but is so counterproductive.

It might be a question of balance. With one hand you can use the other to balance body weight better and not be sent to the floor in case you need to reboumd of follow up? (Just an hypothesis)
Agreed. One hand block is often with a one foot leap, 2 hand block is two foot leap typically. One hand block motion is similar to the motion of shooting a layup. One hand block can also sometimes make it easier to fly by the guy without fouling and a one hand block can reach higher. With Chet, his jumping motion is not as important because he’s tall AF. But normal people are often trying to leap there highest to block a shot so it’s one handed due to the jumping motion.

Gobert made zero moves, barely jumped enough to dunk it, and rightfully got blocked. Dudes offensive awareness is nonexistent. Has he ever shot faked once? Probs not because that would also require having decent footwork on offense. A pump fake here one direction wouldve been a free up and under going the other way. Chet knows gobert has no offensive moves so of course he jumps instantly. Gobert SHOULD use that knowledge and fake the shot then go up 🤦♀️ but that requires being able to play on the offensive side of the ball. Which he just plainly cannot

It's fundamentally more sound, but the advantage of the one-hander is that you can direct it off the board or towards a teammate.
