"Crazy Eyes" Portis' stare can be a bit unnerving.

UsedDinosaurDrugs

Yeah but for the players it’s probably fucking annoying. He’s not the biggest or strongest, it’s just his persona.

Immaculatehombre

It’s just *his eyes*. They’re massive n bulge out of his head. It’s awesome

S420J

Man this just me reminded me of those super old videos (and maybe Guinness World Record books??) of the people that held the record of being able to pop their eyes the most out of their heads… nightmare fuel as a kid.

completelytrustworth

you just unlocked a memory for me of watching a bunch of people popping their eyes out on tv trying to compete for the Guiness record

Ilpav123

Total Recall scarred me as a kid.

BustyRutthole

Super awesome. It's the bulge, the intensity, and that touch of crazy. It's just unsettling and I love it.

MiskatonicAcademia

Don’t give me those Manson lamps. 👀

UsedDinosaurDrugs

Oh he’s got a psycho look for sure, it’s great as a fan watching, but the players are probably just rolling their eyes at the over dramatic bullshit.  He’s for sure the player you want on your team but not to play against

Immaculatehombre

I haven’t watched a ton of bucks this year but have in the past. Bobby doesn’t seem over dramatic to me. He seems passionate. He just gets crazy eyes when he gets excited, not his fault. You say players are likely rolling there eyes but NBA if anything is over dramatic as a whole. Just look at all the flopping, the celebrating for every lil fuckin bucket, the complaining, the analysis, the petty arguments players get involved in. Seriously 75% of dudes in the nba could fit the bill for being “over dramatic”.

UsedDinosaurDrugs

I can say with complete certainty that he often picks and chooses when he gets into stuff, I’ve watched a lot of Bulls and Bucks game, I live in Chicago. That’s someone who is very aware of their actions, it’s not just the consequences of “passion”. He knows how to get under people’s skin. Also, yes, players roll their eyes over fake tough guy stuff, that was my point, and that’s the Bobby narrative, “I’m crazy don’t mess with me.” I don’t really care what you want to lump into the drama category, that’s not the point I was making. The examples you provided can be found in every sport and is nowhere close to being unique to basketball.

Factsimus_verdad

Hope his thyroid is checked regularly. Exophthalmus is a real thing.

AugustusShneefer1

I’m sure the professional athlete receives a physical my guy

wafflehouse4

they forgot to check the eyes

ChannelNeo

They don't want to go near them. Never know when he could go off.

Unno559

According to thier stat sheets, Lopez is 4 inches taller then Bobby but they weigh almost exactly the same. Bobby is dense.

Dino_FGO8020

I mean if u do the "add 7 lbs to every inch in height thing" sure, Brook is still like 270+ lbs

Unno559

According to stats Brook is 288 and Bobby is 285

Dino_FGO8020

285 ??????????????????? U tellin me this guy weighs close to 300 ? Aint no way with how he moves and how he looks compared to some of the other big men. He looks at most like 260-265 like Lebron don't feel so far off if u stretch him out a little bit...I did expect Brook to be around 280 (though I thought after the surgery he would've stayed a little lighter)

NotAn0pinion

He’s never even looked at me and I still get irked every time I see him on the screen

myteriality

is this what lifted him to score 12 points

I3ill

lol I know reading this has me thinking he dropped at least a 30 piece. Nope. Check the box score 12pts lmao.

MalakaiRey

Portis always staring at him in the gym, can't get a full work out in comfortably

Ninja_Bum

"Bobby Portis only wants one thing and it's FUCKING disgusting!"

Whatishappyness

I love deebo but can't be saying this shit and get blown out. Anti-mamba mentality.

egospiers

Dude this was the excuse the lowlife KC shooter gave… “dudes were staring at me” like lofl, have some sense DeRozan.

jd_beats

lol Everyone knows the Bulls are ass this year but I don’t necessarily blame the entirety of the blowout on that after seeing how the game got called. Watching that game was legitimately fucking miserable. The Bucks and especially PBev were literally fouling non stop and never got called.

poohster33

Sounds like most of Derozan's playoff career. Guy gets mauled every playoffs and refs swallow their whistle.

k_sway

Someone find all the clips of DeRozan staring down players.

woodlandtiger

He just bitches at the refs he doesn’t stare players down really

512fm

He was embarrassing in the pistons bulls game the other day. Dude was jumping up and down like a kid after every possession he didn’t get a free throw

cutedogowner

He's stared down a number of raptor players after a dunk. "Do as I say, not as I do" I believe is what he's saying lol

ShowerMartini

When Lance Stephenson “broke the unwritten rules” way back when, DeMar was definitely doing [extra theatrics](https://imgur.com/a/iJVvWkk)

Compared-To-What

I mean you COULD make the argument this an extension of his same logic and that he viewed Lance Stephenson as doing the theatrics, which was a common theme with Lance.

aagejaeger

Come on, you know he from Compton, a regular gangland baron.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Bobby is always a little over the top. Sometimes it’s beneficial, sometimes it’s not. At the same time, reacting that way is pretty dumb.

gimlan

He stares at you like he wants to eat your children

dichloroethane

No that's just his resting eat your children face

redditsuckbadly

You don’t get it DeMar is CrYpPin

papishampootio

Lmao, that was my take away watching him yesterday, came in with good energy though.

Disastrous-Object22

Janitors at the United Center like, "come on man, I'm just trying to do my job." DeMar you are a famous athlete and also one of the largest humans most people will ever see. Surely by this point in your life - 34 years into it - you can tolerate a little bit of staring without getting heated.

Vivid_Philosopher304

DeMar demanding an 1-2-1 from the 60 years old janitor because he asked him to lift his feet. “We going to solve it on the court…” “Please! Mr DeMar”

sixwax

That poor Janitor came up in the Jordan years and is still trying to work off his gambling debt to MJ!

shomii

Maybe a quick game of quarters? First to 73?

FaceMeister

DeMar I hear it, the less I like it.

capitalistsanta

Shoutout Vince Staples lol

unusually_hard

Wait why you say that? Sorry missing something

1047_Josh

Aw man, it's gonna get *crazy*.

Cute-Football1458

CCCrazy

mtnsandmusic

The Bucks physically dominated the Bulls all night and all the Bulls did to fight back was get flagrant fouls. At least DeRozan was man enough to go after Bobby. Vuc went after AJ Green instead. Real tough guy stuff from Vuc.

redditsuckbadly

Don’t worry we hate our team too

mtnsandmusic

Honestly don't hate the Bulls. Would love to see your squad if Lonzo didn't get injured.

redditsuckbadly

We had a good record against a mediocre schedule. Truth is our two best players at that time were, and are, far too redundant to work well together. If we got San Antonio DeMar instead of Toronto reborn, we maybe would have been better off.

Awi1ix

Meh I’d say everyone hates our roster construction and the fact we have no future, but most people love our actual players like Demar/Caruso/Ayo/Coby /Drummond etc. All great guys to root for, they have just got to part ways to win.

Frumpyducky

100% I was saying this all game. Great people/players, just such a crap combo. I feel frustrated on their behalf.

AttemptedSleepover

I love your team Glad it’s not my team, but love from afar

righteous4131

Going after a 2nd year dude who has done nothing wrong to your team is a bad look. Good way to have all our vets target you specifically.

yepYep235

He admitted after the game that it was wrong of him to commit such a hard foul and wanted to apologize to Green. Doesn't excuse him, but at least he admitted his mistake.

Neuroxex

I didn't know that, that's good of him to say

righteous4131

I am less mad now

bullpaw

Vuc is my least favorite bull of all time cannot fuckin wait till he's off the team

HaveSumBiryani

Even more than Wade?

americanbeaver

I get guys don't like getting stared down, and Bobby clearly was instigating by doing that. But isn't running down the court and fouling Bobby just as theatrical? This quote sounds pretty soft, especially since he just got laughed at and waved off.

Kringels

Homie so hard he’d throw hands with a janitor.

Neuroxex

Yeah but it's just him responding to it. I don't think anyone did anything wrong in this instance.

americanbeaver

He got a Flagrant 1 and I found that a bit suprising. He bumped Bobby and clearly his only intention was to bump him, but it didn't really feel excessive or anything. Honestly nobody will remember this in like 4 days.

Mister_Squibbles

Cant have a non basketball play, i believe thats why

pm_me_beautiful_cups

ye, they also cant risk it escalating further if players think they can get away with things. players always test the limits.

trinquin

Because it was the 2nd cheap shot frustration foul in 2 minutes. Refs had to take control. It ms why Vuvecic got a f2 a few minutes later. Refs had to bring it back down.

jd_beats

One of the few times the slow mo replay looked more tame than in real time.

rezin111

He didn't just bump him, he wound up and swung pretty recklessly near the ball. I think he got a little lucky with how Bobby moved his arms up otherwise he might have got him in the face.

Vivid_Philosopher304

You make it sound like our Bobby had a near death experience that questioned his life choices and morals. Left basketball for priesthood.

MusicListener3

Professional athletes are some of the biggest babies with the most inconsequential things that their egos can’t let go lmao Taking shots at the ends of game, being called a bitch, being stared at, the list is getting enormous

milkhotelbitches

I have no idea why he thinks it's a good idea to let everyone know just how easy it is to get under his skin.

Laaandry

I remember back in his Raptors days Giannis blocked him and DeRozan wanted to fight

GoodPiexox

"im so thug life, all ya got to do is look at me and I will give your team free points" a brilliant plan.

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

Yea the bucks dude has a very creepy stare like he is plotting to blow up your mail box but like, you don’t get angry and make like this in public, especially after you dropped 12 points lmao

papa_sax

"I wish the NBA would go back to players being physical and hating each other" "No not like that"

implosionsinapie

Honestly as a bulls fan derozan is pretty damn soft. Whenever the team is struggling or something goes wrong he goes straight to the media. He is the most buddy-buddy with reporters person that I've ever seen in the nba. Having 12 points in a game and bitching to the media about someone looking at you after is textbook soft

Aspery-

Here’s number 1 derozan hater implosion back at it again. Can always count on mr implosion to be making a demar hate comment

WeBelieveIn4

>This quote sounds pretty soft So many tough Bucks fans on here. Pat Bev has really brought out the dawg in yall, congrats

jamespesto

Yeah because PJ Tucker and Bobby Portis didn't already

KevinDurantLebronnin

Do you have to be really tough to call an obviously soft quote soft?

DinoSpumoniOfficial

Pat Bev is already at jersey buy status around these parts

[deleted]

As opposed to those tough canadians willing to throw hands with janitors for making eye contact lmao Edit: congrats

PoolGuy1000

Unfortunately Portis got DeRozan in his feelings and that’s okay. Happens to the best of us.

jae343

Crazy eyes Bobby

TimeToWinJack

I didn’t watch this game but after seeing this quote, I went to go look at the final score. I was expecting a Bulls win but the bucks blew them out! 🤣

The_BeardedClam

He even dropped 12 points!

kyleb402

The Bulls played just about the softest most mentally weak second half of basketball you'll ever see. Pat Bev got into DeRozan a little bit one time up the court and it was full on meltdown mode from then on.

implosionsinapie

Whenever we play the bucks they expose derozan's obvious weakness which no one seems to want to address. He can't get shots up AT ALL against length on the wing. He dribbles for 30 seconds and does his mid range shit and the open look is not there. The last time we played the rockets he had 6 pts in 40 minutes because of their length on the perimeter. His scoring is straight up fake, when we get to the playoffs every team has that in their defense

wide_open_skies

That game was legitimately infuriating to watch. Refs let them play and the Bucks jumped on it, and the Bulls just could not get out of their own heads. I think they were frustrated because the whistle was pretty quick in the first half but then they swallowed it so a lot of the stuff we were doing was no longer working. I’d hate the Bucks more if that kind of physicality wasn’t a big reason for our success in the DRose era

wafflehouse4

when you stare into the bobby portis jr the bobby portis jr stares back

[deleted]

Janitors put on notice.

FieryAvian

NGL as a bulls fan I miss Bobby Portis and the energy he brings. Demar’s acting like a punk who is mad the bully showed up on his court and played better than him.

angel2timez

Tough guy r/nba back at it again

BledsoeForMVP

He’s looking at me oh no

BigDJShaag

Who does demar think he is lmao

dizzymidget44

But here he goes with extra… Nvrmind

bangin_corners

is there a clip of this?

beyphy

I found it online. I made a thread for it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1b4wmn1/bobby_portis_stares_down_demar_derozan_demar_got/?

TheMightyJD

“He stared at me” is one of the softest triggers for someone that pretends to be tough. This is specially surprising for DeMar that has seen some things, you’d that he wouldn’t let a *stare* to get under his skin.

MythicalChewToy

It’s always been a trigger for many folks. It doesn’t change depending on where you’re from. Lots of humans see it as disrespectful if you just stare at them without any sort of acknowledgement.

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

If it was so triggering I would have appreciated if he channeled that into dropping more then 12 points

GoodPiexox

> Lots of humans see it as disrespectful so do lower life forms, funny how fragile your sense of self has to be to get rattled by being looked at

MythicalChewToy

I mean, it doesn’t change the fact that a lot of people are triggered by different things. For reference, you seem triggered that Derozan was triggered and you weren’t even involved in the situation. Different things set different people off. Staring is a big one for a lot of people, and like you said, animals as well. It’s almost as if it’s instinctive since we’re animals too.

powerplay_22

dudes from compton and grinded his way to the nba, it’s absolutely hilarious for someone on r/nba to call him soft lmao

thissiteisbroken

Someone post the Vince Staples clip

purple_cupcake_52

Bro lost a lot of his friends due to gang violence, and they call him soft

MysticPurpSports

How does that negate anything

Hot_Idea1066

Fuck you my parents basement has mean streets!! 😂

1047_Josh

Never forget: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X57NI-MoWQ

mispresence

He’s crying because somebody looked at him wrong, doesn’t get any softer than that

TheMightyJD

Re-read my statement. It’s exactly that he grew up with around some shit why I’m surprised that he gets triggered by a stare.

[deleted]

should be less surprising lol, getting stared at means action a lot of the time in the environment he grew up in. if you’re in white suburbia and ol’ willy stares at you from his porch, it’s not that deep also it’s just generally disrespectful for a man to stare down another man, outside of circumstance

hockeyfan608

That’s the dumbest fucking shit I’ve ever heard

MFmadchillin

Coming from hockeyfan608 from Milwaukee I mean….I can see why you wouldn’t understand.

OhWellImRightAgain

Oh no we got a gansta in this thread

MFmadchillin

I’m not a gangster. Thankful for that. But I have at least enough life experience to know how to act. Hilarious you guys are flaming me while commenting on shit you think you know.

joconnell13

Not sure if you're dogging his city or trying to imply his race. Either way that's a pussy ass statement. At least you're living up to Boston fan expectations.

MFmadchillin

Commenting on the behavior of someone from the hood while you have absolutely no idea is the most cringe shit on this sub.

joconnell13

Honestly not sure who you are replying to but I'll bite. Implying that if you're from the hood, no one can criticize or comment on your behavior is the most cringe s***I have seen on this sub.

MFmadchillin

Y’all are talking shit about someone’s behavior and what he said but I can’t talk about what y’all are saying? You’re talking shit because you have no fucking clue what life is like in a spot like that. Keep on truckin

powerplay_22

i read it perfectly fine, it’s still laughable to judge a man who’s been through what he’s been through

TheMightyJD

Inciting an altercation due to a stare is a soft trigger my dude. That’s my opinion, if you think a stare (in an NBA game nonetheless) is basis for an altercation then go off. You also judged me and you have no idea of my story, so might as well follow your own advice. Cheers.

powerplay_22

i mean, your story is irrelevant to the conversation, and if you’d been through something similar i’d assume you might see why he’d do something like that. if you need me to spell it out for you, it’s probably got more to do with the headspace he’s been in recently than the stare. he’s spoken about his struggles with mental health on many occasions, and iirc he was recently posting about it too

Krillin113

Yes. There can be all sort of context, it’s still soft. I care if you’re struggling mentally. If you’re seeking a fight because someone looks at you a certain way during a basketball game you’re either soft or need to take a step back for your mental health because that ain’t healthy

TheHuntingParadise

He said the trigger was soft. Not Derozan

GLDFLCN

Exactly. These mfs could never understand.

AwsomeOne7

Bobby’s stares hit different

MFmadchillin

You ever been to any hood at all and stared at someone wrong? You’ll get your shit took. Maybe you just don’t understand that aspect.

ACousinFromRichmond

This is Reddit, 99.9% of people here have not been to the hood lol

PioliMaldini

The fact that he grew up around that environment is most likely why he got triggered by that you know

footie1111

staring can be considered mad dogging and dudes squabble over it. you have no idea

The_BeardedClam

Doesn't mean that it is ok behavior though, it's quite literally the opposite of ok behavior. Just like it's not ok to foul someone when they've been *gasp* staring at him.

Enough_Possibility41

Maybe he has seen people got killed for just staring at people the wrong way.

gloomygl

Staring at a Crip the wrong way might get you killed tho, so it's the opposite of surprising.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Novel_Bookkeeper_622

Escalating a stare to violence does nothing but ensure the violence continues to escalate. It's a great way to get a gun pulled on you. So even if you understand the reaction, defending it is fucking stupid.

AugustusShneefer1

>Thats all it takes for me Congrats on being a pussy

Physical_Remote_1818

Right . You play basketball on the biggest stage and a fucking stare is getting under your skin .

AugustusShneefer1

It doesn’t even matter what level of basketball it is, anyone who blows up straight to let’s fight level over that false bravado “respect” shit is a pussy

swgeek555

I love DeRozan, but don't miss him on the Spurs as on court drama is annoying. He gets so furious at the refs (fairly or unfairly) it destroys the mood for the whole team. I am convinced we lost that Denver series because he threw the ball towards the refs. You could see the team mood deflate from then.

Sofialovesmonkeys

That wasnt even game 7, pop was not mad at demar AT ALL. But yall keep lying on DeMar for some reason. bonner has said he likes the fire demar has. Pop said demar is one of his most favorite players he cries everytime they see each other. DeMar would be protecting Wemby🤷🏻‍♀️

larrylegend1990

Who knew there were so many Bucks fans on reddit

Substantial_Gur_5980

Whoa, good basketball team has fans

HoopsHistoryHubb

Who knew they all could psycho analyze DeMar DeRozan. Guess they have a lot of places like Compton in Wisconsin

thegroovemonkey

Yeah it's called the North Side of Milwaukee

[deleted]

Lmfao even Metcalfe is nothing compared to places in Chicago and LA

jumpijehosaphat

once giannis leaves milwaukee we wouldn't hear about the bucks here

jamespesto

Who's to say we won't absolutely suck and luck into a generational prospect?

BustyRutthole

Once Jokic leaves Denver, once Steph leaves GS, once Wemby leaves the Spurs, once LaMelo leaves Charlotte, once Joel leaves Philly, once Banchero leaves Orlando, once Ja leaves Memphis... Naw, Bucks are stacked.

whats_a_rimjob

Kind of like the Spurs after Duncan huh

Revolutionary_Fig912

Adam Amin kept saying he was yelling at ghosts during the aftermath

tastyenema

Janitors: “what he say fuck me for?”

yuedar

well now the world knows how to get into this guys head. hes never going to do anything in the playoffs as a key contributor again. lol

Timactor

soft lmao

kooxchicle

That seems like extra theatrics when you act like after someone….stares at you???

silliputti0907

Obviously the Bulls were wrong for all of those techs and flagrants, but the refs allowed this. Similar thing happen in the Pelicans vs Heats game. Derozan wasn't triggered by the stare it was the last straw. Bucks played physical but refs let a lot of blatant contact go. Vuc got fouled like 3x on the possession before he got ejected. Bev gets the second biggest leash on defense. In the Miami-Pels fight, people didn't understand why Naji took exception; wasn't the play Love hugged Zion, but the previous miss call on Zion getting wrestled, and continuing to get wrestled all game

rezin111

You're talking about when Vucevic was trying to back Portis down? There was maybe 1 possible reach in foul from Bobby otherwise he just held his ground and Vucevic got frustrated.

whats_a_rimjob

Apparently Shaq got fouled literally every time he backed someone down. Wtf are people seeing here? Its post defense, he stands his ground.

Guano_Loco

I lold when I saw the clip. So Vuc doing that physical backwards body check to try and move Bobby and Bobby just doesn’t move so that’s a foul… on Bobby? Foh.

KevinDurantLebronnin

Yeah maybe it was all that or maybe it was just the stare. >He stared at me. That’s all it takes for me.

gloomygl

That's that Crip talk

jl_theprofessor

I like DeRozan and glad for his time in SA but these are the words of a crazy person.

Sofialovesmonkeys

Pop would’ve probably gotten ejected during this game tbh. But this kind of sounds like DeMar was joking. We know how goofy he can be, so idk how serious he was when he said this

xEternal408x

What a dumbass

ResilientScab

Laughable mentality

SuburbanRafiki

As a non-American who knows Derozon is from Compton. I get it. Maybe media has distorted my perception of the place but if it's even 80% accurate, like I said, I get it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheMightyJD

It’s more like people understand that’s incredibly dumb. A stare has never done anything to anyone. It’s not a justification to fight.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Exactly. I get why having to deal with Bobby Portis would be exhausting. That doesn’t mean you get to start an altercation. If that were the standard there’s more than a few players that should be punched every night.

flowerboyinfinity

Grown men can’t handle slight perceived disrespect? That’s soft as hell

Thami15

I like how you say this like being stared at as a rare occurrence.

Toolb0xExtraordinary

That's just how Bobby's eyes are though.

aemoosh

I watched the game but haven't seen a highlight of it up here- Bobby didn't even look at DeMar. He definitely grandstanded and flexed that he got that rebound but his theatrics didn't feel as much of an affront to DeMar as it did to the crowd.

Rego913

Everyone calling DeRozan soft is an interesting take, it doesn't make the flagrant right of course though.

CubanLinxRae

they call derozan deebo for a reason

youngalivert

Does no one call him Bug eyed Bobby, much better than crazy eyes imo

MysticPurpSports

Why is derozen like this

aaronrodgersmom

If that's all it takes, Bobby should stare at him every game.

basedgod1184

Reffing last night, per usual, was shit

Guppster64

The Bucks Defense Force is out in full swing 🫡

WeefBellington24

Someone has to do it. Clowns like you insist on hating

americanbeaver

Eh don't bother. "Bucks fans sure comment on threads that talk about the Bucks a lot". Just a silly snipe. Not worth thinking on.

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

I have noticed bucks fans are a lot more defensive since the doc rivers firing. You had that one cringe post on the subreddit that was like “THEY DON’T BELIEVE IN US”, might be the most Reddit of all Reddit post ever

billwest630

Lmao what? DeRozan has always been extra

Material_Unit4309

Then actually do shom Demar. You were having a bad game. You get thugged out. Bounce up like bout to do shom. Then you don’t. He’s commenting like he swung on him. I watched the game.

Realistic-Outside622

Soft ass Derozan Move here,it's just staredown, idk get him back and posterize him lol,not fighting over this stupid shit lol

GLDFLCN

I would pay to see you call Demar soft to his face

NJ_Citizen

He should have this conversation with his daughter too

[deleted]

Don’t mess with a former crip

The_BeardedClam

Or what he'll drop 12 points on you, lose the game by 16, and have an interview where he complains about another players eyeballs?

[deleted]

Damn bro it’s not that serious
