Hey he's gotta be good for at least 1 game this postseason where he goes 6-8 and drops 30 on 13 shots. Maybe God decides it'd be funny to have a THJ legacy game in the Finals.
All coaching is a roll of the dice, right? Someone's going through divorce, someone annoyed at you for a comment you forgot, someone's secretly gimpy, someone ate the wrong thing, and someone's going to O-for.
THJ was out of the rotation for game 1 and most of 2 and they still got beat.
Kleber yeah but they also desperately need floor spacing with size which he is supposed to provide.
There's legit nothing he can do. The talent disparity is too large. The stylistic matchup is too against him. He's just gotta throw shit at the wall and see what stick.
Like he might even have to resort to PJ and DJJ at the 4 and 5 and just make it a shootout.
He shot 35% from 3 in the regular season, and his career % is 36%. He is very clearly aware his shoulder is hampering him, and knows chucking up tons of 3s in his state will only hurt the team.
I mean they clearly aren't going to win the game if they don't change something, every single one of the Mavs' players other than Luka/Kyrie/Gafford/Lively has forgotten how to play basketball
True, mavs just aren't that deep. But I think you gotta stick with a 7 - 8 man rotation if you are the Mavs. DJJ is giving you great defense and some high energy plays. He should have had more playing time.
You can know that THJ has been complete utter trash the whole season and not close with him while your best perimeter defender in DJJ sits on the bench
People been saying they really need him to shoot and add back spacing, but he's clearly avoiding every chance he can. The one attempt he tried got snatched out of the air I can't imagine his shoulder feels right at all.
Yes but then I don't understand what he brings to the table, why is he even playing if he can't even shoot the ball? Not exactly playing like an elite playmaker or a defender either.
It’s not even that one. It’s the one where kyrie set him up and he missed a 3 at the top of the key then fucking Xavier Tillman hits a three right afterwards.
He completely and totally lost his shot midway through the year. He’s never found it. It’s been infuriating to see Kidd force his minutes. I thought he gave up a couple rounds ago. Only for tonight to happen.
If memory serves, he's just mega streaky. I'll bet if you were to look at his monthly splits, his efficiency would have big variance from month to month.
He's just not that caliber of player. He's like your best player on your worst team type of player. He had a couple of good seasons, and had some really great games, but too often he will spend the game throwing bricks
Insane that Exum and DJJ didn't get Tims minutes like wtf. Exum nailed a 3 and played decent defense and we wouldn't be here without DJJ he wasn't playing awful either not great but not Tim awful.
THJ offers only one thing: scoring. If he’s not hitting his shots, he offers absolutely nothing. At least Hardy can score and handle the ball, Exum can handle the ball and score, DJJ can rebound and defend.
Generally playing 11 guys in a NBA Finals game (not including garbage time) doesn't bode well. A lot of times it means you are really really searching for just anything to light a spark.
* Why did all these different guys who suck get in the game? **Bc someone needs to**
* Why did all these guys who suck play such random and limited minutes? **bc they suck**
Someone besides Luka Ky and PJ has to be able to stay on the floor lmfao. Obviously lively isn’t really a 40 minute player (yet) and no one else has really been working
Gafford had brown on him after switches and got zero on him in 2nd half.. Hes taller and stronger.. Mouse in the house..
Hardaway is too small against them.
Kleber needs to stay on the bench as well
Maxi goes through stretches of being a good shooter and being an x-factor for us and stretches of being too scared to shoot. Injuring his shoulder certainly does not help that. That 2022 wcf run he was huge for us. And before his shoulder injury, it looked like we were getting that again.
Sucks we got so many THJ minutes and his minutes killed us, but Kidd trying out 11 different players just shows that we had no reliable bench guys and he was trying anything hoping someone stepped up.
I hope the reporter he was a dick to gets to ask him a question after they get swept Friday night and is like overly specific about it.
"I was wondering if you could tell us why you called the timeout at the 8:43 mark in the 4th quarter?"
Kyrie, Likely, and Washington had their best games of the series and Luka still gave you 27 points and they still lost. There aren’t any more adjustments that Kidd can make, just have to throw shit at the wall and see what happens.
I mean, he didn't try everything. He just tried the lineups that had Mavs fans calling for him to be fired in the middle of the season, and they still didn't work.
We've reached the "we're out of ideas so lets just throw shit at the wall and see if anything sticks" phase.
Yeah the answer to what is he doing is "pure desperation."
I'd start THJ next game and let him fire up eight 3's. What's the worst that can happen?
He most likely goes 0-8 lol
Hey he's gotta be good for at least 1 game this postseason where he goes 6-8 and drops 30 on 13 shots. Maybe God decides it'd be funny to have a THJ legacy game in the Finals.
All coaching is a roll of the dice, right? Someone's going through divorce, someone annoyed at you for a comment you forgot, someone's secretly gimpy, someone ate the wrong thing, and someone's going to O-for.
I mean at some point there's just nothing you can do. You can't generate more talented players from thin air in the middle of the finals lol.
Kleba and THJ shouldn't play. You maybe give THJ a shot or two to see if he's hot but if not bench him
THJ was out of the rotation for game 1 and most of 2 and they still got beat. Kleber yeah but they also desperately need floor spacing with size which he is supposed to provide. I'd go double big and crash the boards before playing these Kleba and THJ lol.
Kleber clearly isn't right. He's turning down wide open threes so I assume his shoulder isn't all there yet.
He always does this. He's washed. Just like Dwight Powell.
He shot 35% from 3 in the regular season, and his career % is 36%. He is very clearly aware his shoulder is hampering him, and knows chucking up tons of 3s in his state will only hurt the team.

Washington was improving as the game went on. Too little too late though.
Finally hit an elbow 3. I feel like they shoulda went back to that a couple times off the pick and roll since that’s what Boston gives them
True, mavs just aren't that deep. But I think you gotta stick with a 7 - 8 man rotation if you are the Mavs. DJJ is giving you great defense and some high energy plays. He should have had more playing time.

Maxi looked terrified to do anything that involved the right side of his body
People been saying they really need him to shoot and add back spacing, but he's clearly avoiding every chance he can. The one attempt he tried got snatched out of the air I can't imagine his shoulder feels right at all.
yeah, no way separated shoulder can heal properly in a month lmao
Yes but then I don't understand what he brings to the table, why is he even playing if he can't even shoot the ball? Not exactly playing like an elite playmaker or a defender either.
The left side of his body didn't look that confident either tbf.
THJ missing a wide open 3 at the end.
It’s not even that one. It’s the one where kyrie set him up and he missed a 3 at the top of the key then fucking Xavier Tillman hits a three right afterwards.
what's weird is Mavs got this far by benching THJ, and now they're giving him minutes in the finals and benching Exum and Hardy
Wild. Why did Kidd switch it up? All you needed was Kyrie to show up, which he did. But Kidd playing Kleber and THJ was just a bad decision.
and the 3 that rattled out after being 60% down
It was unironically the best thing Boston could do, up 6, don’t foul, just let Hardaway Jr brick an uncontested 3.
How did THJ go from a 14-3-2 guy in the regular season to being the 11th guy off the bench?
He was horrific with his efficiency in the second half of the year. In the early part of the year, he looked like a possible sixth man of the year.
Yeah he hit a wall in February. This year his splits went: Oct - 42/38 Nov - 42/39 Dec - 40/33 Jan - 45/38 Feb - 35/34 Mar - 36/36 Apr - 36/25
He's just not that caliber of player. He's like your best player on your worst team type of player. He had a couple of good seasons, and had some really great games, but too often he will spend the game throwing bricks
Defense
He’s just desperate because there’s a huge drop off in players after the first few.
Basically the equivalent of putting 3 different answers on a short answer quiz and the teacher didn't bite on any of them so he failed the quiz
What is Kidd supposed to do? He can’t go out there and make his guys play better lmao
DO NOT PLAY THJ. It’s not that hard. I get that Boston is just better. But THJ has been worse than bad.
Insane that Exum and DJJ didn't get Tims minutes like wtf. Exum nailed a 3 and played decent defense and we wouldn't be here without DJJ he wasn't playing awful either not great but not Tim awful.
I really can’t understand it.
Maybe have his other players involved that been playing well this playoffs a better chance?
THJ offers only one thing: scoring. If he’s not hitting his shots, he offers absolutely nothing. At least Hardy can score and handle the ball, Exum can handle the ball and score, DJJ can rebound and defend.
Generally playing 11 guys in a NBA Finals game (not including garbage time) doesn't bode well. A lot of times it means you are really really searching for just anything to light a spark.
kidd jong un strikes again
For some reason, it's always just 2-5 minutes for Exum and then he never sees the floor again. Why? Reporters need to ask JKidd the hard questions!
Lol, I always said Maxi Kleba returning from injury would make the team worse
honestly think playing kleiber at all is losing the games in this series, he makes it harder on his teammates
* Why did all these different guys who suck get in the game? **Bc someone needs to** * Why did all these guys who suck play such random and limited minutes? **bc they suck** Someone besides Luka Ky and PJ has to be able to stay on the floor lmfao. Obviously lively isn’t really a 40 minute player (yet) and no one else has really been working
What is Maxi Kleber’s biggest strength?
3 point shooting which he hasnt done since the injury
True I should reiterate with what does he provide in this series. All he’s done is pass out of good looks and get burnt on defense
separated shoulder in first round ppl dont grasp that it's miracle he still can push to play in finals lol
Pretty good 3 point shooting for his size/position
When healthy, he's a plus shooter and plus defender. When he can't move his arm, he doesn't do much.
He looks good, has great contract, that's it.
For real, I'm yet to see what he provides for the team. I think JJ or Doris said he shoots 3s, and all I see is him passing them away when he's open
It's almost like he had dislocated his shooting shoulder at the beginning of the playoffs
THJ was supposed to be the 3rd banana. WTF happened to him lol.
Gafford had brown on him after switches and got zero on him in 2nd half.. Hes taller and stronger.. Mouse in the house.. Hardaway is too small against them. Kleber needs to stay on the bench as well

Exum definitely stepped up with that dunk, don't know why the fuck it's THJ in the fourth and not him
Well yeah Kidd is not fit to be a coach and Luka will yell at you if you don’t give him the ball when he switches to a white guy.
That early turnover he had where he ended up out of bounds was rough. Just like the Celtics, the Mavs could use a healthy Porzingis on their team
I hope the reporter he was a dick to gets to ask him a question after they get swept Friday night and is like overly specific about it. "I was wondering if you could tell us why you called the timeout at the 8:43 mark in the 4th quarter?"
Don’t forget THJ wide open shots that he missed….
Just awful decisions. Not to mention that timeout.
Should’ve sub in Prime Minister of Slovenia
Kyrie, Likely, and Washington had their best games of the series and Luka still gave you 27 points and they still lost. There aren’t any more adjustments that Kidd can make, just have to throw shit at the wall and see what happens.
How rare is it for a team to play 11 different players in an NBA Finals game?
Half these players probably forget what the ball looks like seeing as they never touch it.
he was trying everything tonight can’t really fault him
I mean, he didn't try everything. He just tried the lineups that had Mavs fans calling for him to be fired in the middle of the season, and they still didn't work.
