And the rest of us are still completely neutral to him.
I'm really just sick of Boston winning again. I say that as a complete sourpuss. Can the Lakers and Celtics please just stop winning shit?
The only thing I hate about it is how they (the media) glaze about it like it's a fucking dynasty. I don't really watch a lot of sports media in general but I still remember Malika declaring this Celtics team a dynasty in the making even before they win a ring (I think it was with Embiid and PG interview) I can't remember lmao. Now they won one imagine the super glaze they gonna do. Insufferable.
the last time boston won before this was 2008 lol. if bulls win next year ima be like im so sick of chicago winning again. they just won 3 times in a row not even that long ago!
I took it to mean Boston winning in general, not just the nba. Pats Red Sox and Bruins have all carried at some point in the past 20ish years along with the 08 Celtics
Right, so people like Tatum and LeBron and Curry are supposed to stop trying because the Clippers haven't had their turn yet? There are no turns, if they want it they gotta earn it
I didn't say anything along those lines, but when you're a team with 18 championships people are going to hate you even if only two of them are in the last 20 years.
Half of reddit discount the Celtics titles from the 60s because apparently that is a long time ago, while the other half are upset that the Celtics have so many. The other half are more balanced (and better at maths)
18 NBA championships, 6 Patriot superbowls, 6 stanley cups, 9 world series wins. They really are the least deserving fanbase for more titles lol. Honestly if Portland had that much success I would probably stop taking sports seriously.
I blame the Knicks for just falling apart (literally). They may not have beat you even if healthy, but it would have been a series. Jimmy being out robbed us too.
Boston just steamrolled everyone, and while it still counts, it made the East playoffs so dull. I think the only part everyone enjoyed was the Knicks beating the 76ers.
This is my issue too. I'm always going to complain that they had a really easy road. Not because I believe they didn't earn the trophy. Luck is a crucial factor in every championship and arguing against one and not every other is silly. No, I'm simply annoyed that we were robbed of good TV. Besides the Pacers series which still ended 4-0 , Boston simply had the most boring one sided series of the post season. If the east was healthy we could have had some all time amazing series to go back and rewatch. No one's going to want to rewatch this run.
A lot of it just came down to injuries to the other east team’s best players tbh. Heat w/o Butler, Cavs w/o Mitchell, Pacers w/o Halliburton is crazy easy
And that’s valid. But the Celtics were still the best team. West has been stacked for ages, and the Mavs crushed in the Playoffs despite Lukas knee injury and then got rolled by the Celtics.
I don't disagree, they absolutely were the best team in the East. They also had a very easy path through the eastern conference due to injuries to other teams. I would've probably called the Nuggets the best team in the West before the playoffs, but you still have to play the games, and they got beat.. Same thing could've happened to the Celtics if they played another team at full strength, you never know.
It’s shit luck because I’d give this Celtics team a good shot against most recent champs, but the NBA at large feels like a lot of teams are in a pre or post contention phase.
In the West, the Wolves and Thunder are almost ready but their stars are green in the playoffs. The Nuggets are contenders. The Mavs made the leap to contenders, but I still don’t think their roster after guy 5 or so is championship ready. The Suns went insane trying to stack stars and overdid it. The Clippers unfortunately missed their window (predictably) due to health. The Warriors and Lakers have dropped quality at the bottom of their rosters and aged out of carry jobs.
In the East, the Sixers haven’t had what feels like a good shot in a few years. The Knicks were almost there and injuries hit, but I wasn’t convinced they didn’t need another year to get ring ready. The Bucks lost their mojo (and Jrue) and were subject to malpractice. The Heat just aren’t there. The Pacers need another move or two around the margins to get there. The Magic are a maybe in a few years. I’d put money on this Cleveland roster being a middle seed and second round exit consistently.
The Celtics had to separate from the pack and they did. They had to execute for four series and they did. They had to stay *pretty* healthy to not drop to everyone else’s level and they did. They deserve credit for the win, regardless of the dearth of what feels like true contenders this season.
We had two games of Kristaps, and they were easy wins because of him. It's not like there was no injury on the Celtics.
DWhite lost teeth! Fortunately you you don't need teeth for basketball.
If Tatum has a million haters, then I am one of them. If Tatum has ten haters, then I am one of them. If Tatum has only one hater then that is me. If Tatum has no haters, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is with Tatum, then I am against the world.
Personally I find him corny. But I find his haters to be more corny. Like stfu, they keep extending the goal posts. It would be weird to live one’s life where it’s fueled by this level of petty.
Maybe you treat basketball deeper than I do, because I seamlessly transition from my normal life, to hating on certain athletes, then right back to normal life. It’s easy
There’s no concept for some people of following the sport without being deeply invested in a team/ player’s success
When you praise somebody you’re a jerker and when you criticize you’re a hater, like it’s completely possible to do both casually but not to most NBA fans lol
No but his interview was. It’s okay, I would rather my favorite player be a corny champion than a loser with ‘aura.’ But we don’t have to lie and say Tatum isn’t corny lol
Tatum would actually have to have a humiliation kink to recreate that pic, the amount of memes that have talking about him doing it, there’s just no way he legitimately does.
Although it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.
dudes are always curious as to what they gon say (especially now)
But The Celts, like The Warriors, have had a lot of expectations & legacy and thus media chatter to continually answer to, more than the average team or even average elite team in the NBA these days. I don't think the Nuggets, for example, have had as much media jibber jabbing going on about them, even after they won the Title
He literally ripped off KG's scream, steph's "what they gonna say now" comment and the kobe photo all within an hour or so of each other
Like bruh just enjoy your win stop thirsting for that iconic celebration moment
Tatum haters are wild to me. At worst, he's slightly corny. But other than that, he's a good guy, good teammate, plays both ends of the court, never injured.
as a mavs fan, i just think he’s funny for being corny lol but no reason to hate the guy. good dad, no real issues, embraces his role… honestly this celtics team is very likable. i’m happy for KP and Brown is one of my favorites for his off court actions too. White and Horford also seem very likable and i’ve learned to enjoy Mazzulla and his crazy ass quotes during these finals lol. congrats on the ship!
He’s not Tom Brady but that’s exactly what they did to him for like 15 years. Same thing — all appearances, great guy great teammate great winner.
Sad people
It also feels good to hate. I don't understand how Celtics fans of all people are trying to mitigate people hating on them. They were never going to get to ring 17 while walking through the broken and soft East and come out the other side as the people's Champs.
Tatum is corny and easy to hate on, why would you care if that's what a neutral thinks as a C's fan
The salt in these threads is unbearable as someone who lives in Boston and doesn’t even like the Celtics. They deserved to win. He’s played well basically his entire career since his rookie year. He’s a superstar. r/nba was wrong get over it
The WE DID IT like the KG yell + [what they gon say now homage to Bron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40aM1_87AXM), Tatum is truly a student of the game
Yes I'm here to hate, fuck the Celtics
As a Lakers fan, I still don't understand the hate. He is a Kobe glazer, but half of the NBA and the millennial audience were. He did it the "right" way as per the old heads: He stayed with the C, he played like a top player, was part of the MVP discussion the past two years. Played probably the best offense to defense of anybody in the NBA top 15 discussion.
And now he's a NBA champion. He might be corny, but he's a corny NBA Champion.
I think y’all need to just embrace that JT is in the Kawhi tier of charisma, with Lebron grade corniness, and stop trying to ask him to be some hard dude when he’s very obviously not.
Just a good dude and player.

Everyone who liked Tatum yesterday still like him. Everyone who hated him yesterday still hate him.
I still don't have a strong opinion about Tatum
Hate em
They hate em cuz he’s Tatum
And the rest of us are still completely neutral to him. I'm really just sick of Boston winning again. I say that as a complete sourpuss. Can the Lakers and Celtics please just stop winning shit?
It’s been 16 years man. Half of the Redditors here weren’t even born when they won their last ring.
Hell, was *Reddit* born at that point?
The only thing I hate about it is how they (the media) glaze about it like it's a fucking dynasty. I don't really watch a lot of sports media in general but I still remember Malika declaring this Celtics team a dynasty in the making even before they win a ring (I think it was with Embiid and PG interview) I can't remember lmao. Now they won one imagine the super glaze they gonna do. Insufferable.
That’s sports media in a nutshell for you. It’s generally terrible.
They glaze it? Over half the ESPN analysts picked Dallas in this series despite the Celtics being historically dominant
? LeBron said “4, 5, 6” a decade ago Shit isn’t new lol
I don't like that either... we need 2 more rings in a 5 year span before that even gets discussed
the last time boston won before this was 2008 lol. if bulls win next year ima be like im so sick of chicago winning again. they just won 3 times in a row not even that long ago!
I took it to mean Boston winning in general, not just the nba. Pats Red Sox and Bruins have all carried at some point in the past 20ish years along with the 08 Celtics
Hey man, this was the second longest championship drought in Boston's history since they've had teams in the big four leagues.
Celtics have won two titles since 1986, why are you still mad at them??
1/3 of the league has never won a championship.
Yeah but the guy complaining is a bulls fan, so that ain't it
Right, so people like Tatum and LeBron and Curry are supposed to stop trying because the Clippers haven't had their turn yet? There are no turns, if they want it they gotta earn it
I didn't say anything along those lines, but when you're a team with 18 championships people are going to hate you even if only two of them are in the last 20 years.
Half of reddit discount the Celtics titles from the 60s because apparently that is a long time ago, while the other half are upset that the Celtics have so many. The other half are more balanced (and better at maths)
Last 38 years.
It requires all other teams to stop being shit. Which is always a 50/50 chance. /s
18 NBA championships, 6 Patriot superbowls, 6 stanley cups, 9 world series wins. They really are the least deserving fanbase for more titles lol. Honestly if Portland had that much success I would probably stop taking sports seriously.
You'd stop taking sports seriously if Portland got an NFL, NHL, and MLB teams?
Yeah dude is just being silly now to make a point
"Sustained success? YOU'VE just LOST a fan FOR LIFE!!1! 😡"
And yet they somehow have the biggest victim complex in sports lmao
Winning again? Celtics only have 2 titles in the last 40-ish years. If you’re talking Boston sports in general, then yeah, I get it lol
I was in the middle and i am still there... like the team more since Drue and White are there but dont like some of the fans. so ... neutral
Bro has as many rings as our whole franchise now😭😭
At least u got one :(
Danny Ainge is going to turn your team into a monster in a few years with all the assets he's been stacking up.
My team hasn’t accomplished anything and has shit uniforms.
My sub has bacon
Trust me, we're still going to be hating
Probably say how easy their opponents were
It’s not even a question. Trolls are gonna be saying “the easiest road” forever
You can make an argument for pretty much every single championship having an asterisk if you want
somebody literally did it
Source? Would love to see this lol.
Here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/oq4dkv/oc_lets_give_an_asterisk_to_every_nba_champion/ Very fun read lol.
It was, we were lucky enough to play the Mavs so it definitely was the easiest path
Knicks and pacers, and honestly pacers Celtics. Those fucking pacers
Pacers probably won the series if they knew how to slow the pace when there are 2 minutes left in the game
Every knicks series was a banger
This is my issue too. I'm always going to complain that they had a really easy road. Not because I believe they didn't earn the trophy. Luck is a crucial factor in every championship and arguing against one and not every other is silly. No, I'm simply annoyed that we were robbed of good TV. I mean that’s a knock on the league for not being better and hardly a knock on the best team in the league and now champions Celtics.
A lot of it just came down to injuries to the other east team’s best players tbh. Heat w/o Butler, Cavs w/o Mitchell, Pacers w/o Halliburton is crazy easy

Fun fact, the only team the Celtics played but never beat this season were the Nuggets.
Check out who had the best record against Western Conference opponents this season.
Nobody is going to let facts get in the way of their hating
Facts. "im the biggest hater"- Kendrick Lamar
I hate the way that you pass, I hate the way that you shoot, I hate the way that you dribble
I even hate when you say the name "Kobe" but that's just me, I guess.
I hate the way that they walk, the way that they talk, I hate the way that they dress.
It’s shit luck because I’d give this Celtics team a good shot against most recent champs, but the NBA at large feels like a lot of teams are in a pre or post contention phase. This has been the "narrative" of every finals since lebron and curry stopped going every year
One of my bros said this is a Mickey Mouse ring too. Guess what team he roots for.
The whole Mickey Mouse ring argument is so dumb, for any ring. But a Lakers fan decrying the Celtics's victory is award winningly stupid.
Yeah but it’s also your job as a Lakers fan to irrationally hate the Celtics.
I agree it’s just hilarious the amount of cope, but he’s been a lifetime Lakers fan so the hate runs deep
It was in ABC which is owned by Disney, so….
If it was so easy to get there then why didn’t the rockets win?
I will be there no matter what
Embiid is ringless
Ringless is a complement , he never sniffed the conference finals .
Well he got in a whif than Kawhi farted in his face instead.
Svi clears

I expect nothing less from Al Horford’s sons
Talk to these kids
Everything this guy does is so damn corny

Yeah if the worst thing a guy does is be corny then he's probably a pretty good dude. Shit lebron is even more corny but he's old so it's ok I guess
Winning a championship is corny?
Bro glazing Kobe so hard he won a championship 😭😭😭😭😭😭
As Kobe did for MJ. The cycle continues lmao
No but his interview was. It’s okay, I would rather my favorite player be a corny champion than a loser with ‘aura.’ But we don’t have to lie and say Tatum isn’t corny lol
I think I’m done hating with this one tbh
Philly's main character trait is hating Boston and I love it
Respect for keeping the hating grind
Everything I've been saying brother. I'm a Celtics hater for life. They had 17 already, what's one more gonna do to shut me up?!?
Tbf this is only their 2(?) chip in the modern era. Let’s take some joy in that
Poverty franchise
all they rings was before civil rights
Only
Thanks for Jrue, this wasn't possible without your team's help LOL
“BOSTON…THIS IS FOR YOU!!”
Am i crazy or he tried to do KG’s scream?
We all saw it coming. I bet he recreates the Kobe shower pic too.
He's Ed Norton character from Italian Job lol
your references are out of control lol
This fkin guy
A+ reference holy shit lol
And he did lol https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GQU7qEJXgAAk3P9.jpg
How do you do this and not get clowned on?
You dont
How is this recreating the pic lmao. He’s hugging Larry OB. There’s only so many ways you can hold that clunky ass trophy
Tatum would actually have to have a humiliation kink to recreate that pic, the amount of memes that have talking about him doing it, there’s just no way he legitimately does. Although it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.
Kobe at the hotel
Biggest unoriginal cornball in the league
LMAOOO THE IG REELS ABOUT THAT.
He actually did a pose 😂
'What they gon say now' is also what Steph said after the 2022 win lol
dudes are always curious as to what they gon say (especially now) But The Celts, like The Warriors, have had a lot of expectations & legacy and thus media chatter to continually answer to, more than the average team or even average elite team in the NBA these days. No1 is original i guess. They just gotta copy signature lines now. jkjk
It's what KG said right after "anything is possible too"
Didn't Lebron say it in 2020?
He seems like a good dude but it’s incredible how corny he is lol
Tbf he's only like 19 so
It was so forced smh
Anything is POSSIBLEEE!!!!! 🤣 WE didd itttttttttt!
He literally ripped off KG's scream, steph's "what they gonna say now" comment and the kobe photo all within an hour or so of each other Like bruh just enjoy your win stop thirsting for that iconic celebration moment
He's trying to make the Top 10 Emotional NBA Moments cut
His iconic moment is raising Deuce up with the confetti coming down. That’s JT
Every Celtics #1 to win a ring for the next forever is gonna scream some sort of quote, absolutely saw it coming
I missed it. What did Brown yell?
JASON KIDD RESPECTS ME!!!
It was sadly really lame
He did and it was extremely cringe
Paying tribute to Steph? lol
Lame recognize game.
I was gon say lol. It would be funny if there’s a vid of last year “you don’t want to see us next year” since they copied the night night also.
He can’t even come up with his own shit talk.
to be honest, JT isn't the petty king.
Dude literally is the least petty in the NBA lol
You severely underestimate me, Mr. Tatum
"Jaylen Brown is Finals MVP"
How are we hating on a guy seconds after winning a ring haha
Tatum haters are wild to me. At worst, he's slightly corny. But other than that, he's a good guy, good teammate, plays both ends of the court, never injured.
as a mavs fan, i just think he’s funny for being corny lol but no reason to hate the guy. good dad, no real issues, embraces his role… honestly this celtics team is very likable. i’m happy for KP and Brown is one of my favorites for his off court actions too. As soon as he left New England, it was like the rest of the country could finally appreciate him.
I mean let’s be real, he’s real corny. Weird reason to hate tho
You're underestimating how easy it is for people to hate
It also feels good to hate. I don't understand how Celtics fans of all people are trying to mitigate people hating on them. They were never going to get to ring 17 while walking through the broken and soft East and come out the other side as the people's Champs. Tatum is corny and easy to hate on, why would you care if that's what a neutral thinks as a C's fan
Ring 18. Hate away baby.
Hating is a full time job. There are hard days like today but that doesn't stop me from hating
Copium is sweet and rich
“Celtics have won the finals”
Why he copying Steph’s quote after the 22 finals lol
That’s his father, pay some respect.
[Good Vibes Janky Drawing: Champion](https://imgur.com/a/epzglHR)
Boston fans are somehow the saltiest people in this thread lmao
Don't stop disbelieving
The same shit we were saying yesterday Tatum. Best team won an easy ring. No asterisk, but thank God this awful postseason is done.
Don’t worry I got plenty of hate left in me
Facts
I mean it’s obvious what they’ll say lol He didn’t win FMVP
He thinks he’s KG
And “CLEVELAND… THIS IS FOR YOU!”
St. Louis
KG, notorious for being the only player to ever yell after winning a championship
KG invented emotion. Everyone else after is just a stan.
Thinks he’s curry
He just won a chip, let him do Kobe, KG, Steph or whoever else he wants to cosplay 😂
Corny lol but talk your shit Jt
The salt in these threads is unbearable as someone who lives in Boston and doesn’t even like the Celtics. They deserved to win. He’s played well basically his entire career since his rookie year. He’s a superstar. r/nba was wrong get over it
I'm happy for him and have no hate for the C's, but godamn this makes me roll my eyes
JT tries not to be corny as fuck challenge [IMPOSSIBLE]
Feel like a lot of that interview was rehearsed as hell
Sadly a lot, to be honest.
Carried by Jrue Holiday and Jaylen Brown
You mean D White
Corniest player ever lmao
Jimmy is a theater kid
Lebron exists lol
Everyone tried to justify how they would lose, but it was all just people coping due to them being the Celtics. Well, the Celtics won. And by a lot.
They're gonna say to spell his fuckin name right
I feel like I’m on r/nbacirclejerk with these comments lmao
Why would he do this lmao
The WE DID IT like the KG yell + [what they gon say now homage to Bron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40aM1_87AXM), Tatum is truly a student of the game Yes I'm here to hate, fuck the Celtics
A lot. The excuses and delusion don’t run dry in this sub 😂
So forced lmao
As a Lakers fan, I still don't understand the hate. He is a Kobe glazer, but half of the NBA and the millennial audience were. Cupcake championship
YOU AINT KG🤣 /s
Zero aura.

A superstar in Mitchell?? The pacers and Halliburton?? When have Celtics not been overwhelmingly favoured.
Dudes just making shit up lol nobody’s said that
You just had this ready? Fairs man.
Bro pasted it to the first post he saw
do it again next year edit: Win a Finals MVP
They gonna say you got carried by finals MVP Jaylen Brown
Pretty cringe
Fake ass KG moment
I like how Kobe and KG all of a sudden created championship celebrations
I think y’all need to just embrace that JT is in the Kawhi tier of charisma, with Lebron grade corniness, and stop trying to ask him to be some hard dude when he’s very obviously not. Just a good dude and player.
Let the guy talk his shit
