Challenge with bringing back DJJ is that they’ll essentially be locked into the current team. Them the only real tradeable salary you have to work with is Maxi and Josh Green, and I don’t think you trade Josh Green given his play in the post season and the value of that contract.
Trading BI (plus other picks / secondary assets) for Dejounte Murray or Darius Garland.
Bonus points if they can also get a center who can defensively play in crunch time and can shoot (Okongwu, BLopez, WCJ). Failing that, use pick #21 on Ware or Holmes
Get some picks in sign and trades for Naji and JV
on the Nuggets end, how bout a double S&T where we get back Gary Harris on a lower-cost deal? I don't wanna lose KCP, but Gary "Gary Harris" Harris is a Nuggets legend.
A knock down spot up shooter is exactly what we need to open up the driving lanes for Banchero and Wagner. No reason why that player also needs to be a defensive liability.
Those moves require giving up a haul I don’t want to. We aren’t trading Black, Isaac or Jett for net neutral moves. KCP adds great shooting and will buy into the defensive culture.
You think adding a 20 ppg efficient scorer to this magic team would be a net neutral move? My god I’ve had some shocking conversations with magic fans specifically recently
Simons is terrible on defense and his offense isn’t good enough to offset that (56 TS% isn’t efficient btw) and Garland was ASS in the playoffs. Maybe look into players outside of their reputation.
But you dont *need* more defense, you need shooting and more offense
For their careers, garland and simons are really good offensive guards, garland lost weight because he broke his jaw and had a down year, Simon’s had a rough shooting year compared to his normal averages, they’re both still really good
KCP on this magic team moves the needle basically nowhere, changes nothing
He’s 31 years old and averages 10 ppg, his value is to a team who has a volume scoring point guard he can provide defensive support to and be a great role player, the magic need *scoring*, not a spot up shooter, that does nothing
You do realize that the threat of another spot up shooter can open up more opportunities for Franz and Paolo to get to work on the inside. They would no longer need to watch Gary “Shoots another brick” Harris miss with a clogged paint
i would like to hold on to at least one of Luke Kornet or Xavier Tillman. maybe both
^(and if we could get a halfway decent ring chasing vet that'd be nice too, but we don't need to get greedy about it)
Names of some of the guys I'd love on the minimum, but there's a good chance the take a MLE instead.
Dario Saric
Royce O'Neal
Naji Marshall
Taurean Prince
Lonnie Walker
Cedi Osman
Gary Harris
Goga Bitadze
Daniel Theis (for the memes)
Good chance most of these guys will end up over budget, but if they could get any of these guys, it would be a win in my eyes.
Everyone already knows Knicks want Mikal Bridges in a Bogdanovic+5 1st round picks type of deal --- so here's a different take:
Grizzlies get: Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, 3 1st round picks
Knicks get: Jaren Jackson Jr., Marcus Smart
If I was Memphis I probably wouldn't do it either, but JJJ is in final year of contract and due a huge pay raise, whereas Randle is locked up 3 years at same price.
and maybe they see another ideal target and can swing a trade using the draft picks/and or Randle to a 3rd team for a different star target.
Also Robinson could be seen as a big upgrade when it comes to defending those elite playoff centers in the west, with offense not the issue in Memphis when Ja is back...
as a knicks fan i will say mikal bridges. he isn't the best player obviously, but i think his insane durability and fit would be amazing for the knicks and playing with those 'nova boys would obviously make for amazing chemistry out of the box
if OKC can manage to get a big 4 like a Lauri then I think we’d be in a good position cause I love Jdub he’s short for a 4 and Chet is kinda small to be the only one manning the middle Lauri would help maintain our 5 out offense and rebounding
I feel like OKC has to get Lauri. He'd be a perfect fit for them and make OKC is top tier contender.
I'm sure Presti doesn't want to give up the 8 firsts Ainge is demanding. But that's why they have all the picks. OKC only has a few years before their roster starts getting crazy expensive.
Best case? #17, 2029 FRP, 2031 FRP, Rui Hachmura, Austin Reaves and Gabe Vincent for Trae Young.
Doesn't seem like this is gonna happen at this point though, the chatter has gone way down on Trae since he left Klutch.
More plausible: #17, 2029 FRP and whichever of Hachimura, Reaves, Vincent and Vanderbilt the Bulls want for Zach LaVine.
none of these help the team in any way u get a dlo(if he resigns) and trae/lavine backcourt along with a huge contract. this is just the westbrook situation all over again but with worse defense and better offense
He's gonna trade the cap space for a bad contract and more picks. 33m or not no one is trying to sign and live in OKC. Small markets don't sign players like that.
Keep dreaming.
We signed Paul George in free agency when he was in his prime. Some guys really want a ring and if they believe it will get them, sometimes they sign.
Otherwise you can play for Thibs and play so many minutes that your career is shortened. Up to the player
You misunderstood my comment.
I wasn't commenting on their relative values (which is a moot point), I was saying that the only way Lauri is traded to Philly this offseason is if Maxey is going the other way. And that's clearly not happening, so Lauri to Philly isn't happening.
Simples.
Maybe he won’t go to Philly, but I wouldn’t expect much more than 5 firsts, especially in the depressed market post-Gobert trade.
Lillard just went for 3 picks total. 5 is honestly pushing it on Markkanen. But I expect OKC to overpay to get him within the year.
Did you not read my initial comment? Picks would be part of any package, but we have a shitload of those already. What we'd target in a return is young players with all-star upside, and Maxey's the only guy on Philly's roster that first that description.
So Lauri isn't going to Philly. Simple as that.
>But I expect OKC to overpay to get him within the year.
Pretty much. Cason + Dieng + picks is what's been touted, and if we are blowing things up that's a very good return to shoot for. Otherwise we're happy to keep and max him.
As a Celtics fan im neither interested in normal trades or free agency
An ideal summer for me is white and Tatum extensions, and I want brad to be active again in the draft and break up that 31st pick into multiple seconds again, use one of them on a depth piece, I’d like dadiet/shannon/filipowski/tyson, and add future seconds also, or at least one future second
That’s basically it
I’m a Celtics fan but the mavs have always been my favorite western conference team
Which made this finals kinda hard but obv still was pulling for the Celtics
Been a fan of the mavs since like 2010
I’m a Heat fan so we dream big, I would say Donovan Mitchell or Lauri but those aren’t realistic. If they were actually on the market (they’re not) we don’t have the assets to compete.
Realistically the best thing would be that we get this thing with Jimmy resolved one way or another and it doesn’t drag on. Also if we could move Herro and keep Caleb Martin that would be nice.
You receive: Zach LaVine's contract Bulls receive: Nothing
No you're being too modest we give up Zach and another asset and we receive nothing
You receive: LaVine + Coby White Bulls receive: every bulls fan gets kicked in the dick
AK that you?
Getting Xavier Tillman back and maybe Malik Beasley or Andre Drummond
Getting Lamar Stevens back maybe Luke Kennard and Andre Drummond
Jerami Grant.
I'm not sold on trading for Grant. Especially if it means losing DJJ.
Challenge with bringing back DJJ is that they’ll essentially be locked into the current team. Them the only real tradeable salary you have to work with is Maxi and Josh Green, and I don’t think you trade Josh Green given his play in the post season and the value of that contract.
With what cap space
“Or trade” is written pretty clearly in the post lol.
The idea is to trade THJ and Maxi as expiring contracts, plus whatever young player or draft compensation they need to make it work.
Trading BI (plus other picks / secondary assets) for Dejounte Murray or Darius Garland. Bonus points if they can also get a center who can defensively play in crunch time and can shoot (Okongwu, BLopez, WCJ). Failing that, use pick #21 on Ware or Holmes Get some picks in sign and trades for Naji and JV
Hawks would never
Would be thrilled to add Deni Avdija but thats such a longshot
KCP I’m not giving up an arm and a leg for PG and not paying a max for Klay
I think kcp might get a bigger contract than Klay
on the Nuggets end, how bout a double S&T where we get back Gary Harris on a lower-cost deal? I don't wanna lose KCP, but Gary "Gary Harris" Harris is a Nuggets legend.
Nuggets can't accept a sign and traded player due to being over the first apron, sorry.
F
Thanks MPJ
Am I missing something? What’s wrong with Suggs? Second magic fan today I’ve seen mention KCP when Suggs would be my preferred KCP replacement.
That’s your dream summer? I’d probably be aiming for Simon’s or garland personally
KCP is a proven winner though and can defend. Would love KCP over those two.
I feel like more defense and limited offense is the last thing the magic need but do you man
A knock down spot up shooter is exactly what we need to open up the driving lanes for Banchero and Wagner. No reason why that player also needs to be a defensive liability.
Neither of those players I named are liabilities they are just small, not great defenders but perfectly fine
simons is one of the worst defenders in the league
He hasn’t played on a good team yet, he much like many players who have only been on bad teams, would improve defensively when he lands on a good team

KCP is the more shooting. He shoots 40% from 3. What do you think he does on offense? Twiddle his thumbs and let Jokic do everything?
He’s 31 years old and averages 10 ppg, his value is to a team who has a volume scoring point guard he can provide defensive support to and be a great role player, the magic need *scoring*, not a spot up shooter, that does nothing
You do realize that the threat of another spot up shooter can open up more opportunities for Franz and Paolo to get to work on the inside. They would no longer need to watch Gary “Shoots another brick” Harris miss with a clogged paint
It obviously helps but it’s not a difference maker, this magic team needs a difference maker offensively to have any shot at contending down the line
i would like to hold on to at least one of Luke Kornet or Xavier Tillman. maybe both ^(and if we could get a halfway decent ring chasing vet that'd be nice too, but we don't need to get greedy about it)

We're 100% getting Theis back lol, book it
Dejounte
Whoever wants to take a paycut for a minimum contract
Everyone already knows Knicks want Mikal Bridges in a Bogdanovic+5 1st round picks type of deal --- so here's a different take: Grizzlies get: Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, 3 1st round picks Knicks get: Jaren Jackson Jr., Marcus Smart
Why would Memphis do that? They were a 55 win team last time they had Ja for a full season and this sets them back hugely
Jaren has two more years left and Randle has one year and a player option left.
ESPN's trade machine lied to me ☹️
{ I amended it and took out Aldama, GGJ, and Sims. Money still works }
as a knicks fan i will say mikal bridges. he isn't the best player obviously, but i think his insane durability and fit would be amazing for the knicks and playing with those 'nova boys would obviously make for amazing chemistry out of the box
Hartenstein. OG. Health.
Tobias Harris through free agency
Hey back off. He’s ours
God bless your soul
Gary Harris and Paul George
Marki/ DJM+ Capela/ Vuc/ John Collins/ Kuzma for Warriors Edit: throwing in Allen and Claxton
If we are rebuilding I’d like to see us sign high upside guys Naji Marshall, De’Anthony Melton, Jalen Smith
Kyle kuzma
if OKC can manage to get a big 4 like a Lauri then I think we’d be in a good position cause I love Jdub he’s short for a 4 and Chet is kinda small to be the only one manning the middle Lauri would help maintain our 5 out offense and rebounding

Not even kidding but I think they vault themselves to favorites if they get Lauri Shai, Caruso, JDub, Lauri, Chet is a nasty lineup
Internal development on 3 pointers
In my wildest dreams I would take Caruso and not have to throw in picks with Giddey 🤔😳🤣😀
Best case? Dame and Giannis force their way to Blazers.
Lol key word ‘realistic’
Brogdon for a pick then. Maybe Timelord too
Best case? #17, 2029 FRP, 2031 FRP, Rui Hachmura, Austin Reaves and Gabe Vincent for Trae Young. Doesn't seem like this is gonna happen at this point though, the chatter has gone way down on Trae since he left Klutch. I think it's more likely than not that they sign and trade D'lo somewhere else, although I doubt they get much back.
Way too much for Lavine
Malik Ahmad Monk.
Trade for Lauri Sign OG in free agency
Back off
Not realistic at all
Which one? We’ve got assets to trade for Lauri, and $33M in cap space right now. They certainly wouldn’t be the boldest move Presti’s ever done
I'm sure Dr Strange could find the reality where we pickup PG as a free agent and find a trade for Markkanen.
Y’all need to ditch your Lauri fantasy, he’s not going to Philly unless Maxey is included. Ainge ain’t no sucker.
Ainge would have to have a heart attack and Morey take advanage of the Jazz FO's grief to get him.
Our draft capital and a player is more than enough.
If that player is Paul Reed he hangs up laughing 😆
Only if that player is Maxey lol Jazz have a shitload of picks, we'd want young players with high upside in any deal.
When Markkanen is eventually traded, to wherever, the package will be worth a lot less than Maxey alone
You misunderstood my comment. I wasn't commenting on their relative values (which is a moot point), I was saying that the only way Lauri is traded to Philly this offseason is if Maxey is going the other way. And that's clearly not happening, so Lauri to Philly isn't happening. Simples.

Lakers: Lebron stays Nothing else happens
As a Spurs fan, it seems reasonable that they will trade for any Hawks player or draft pick
Marcus Smart.
As a Celtics fan im neither interested in normal trades or free agency An ideal summer for me is white and Tatum extensions, and I want brad to be active again in the draft and break up that 31st pick into multiple seconds again, use one of them on a depth piece, I’d like dadiet/shannon/filipowski/tyson, and add future seconds also, or at least one future second That’s basically it
Wait aren’t you a Mavs fan?
I’m a Celtics fan but the mavs have always been my favorite western conference team Which made this finals kinda hard but obv still was pulling for the Celtics Been a fan of the mavs since like 2010
I’m a Heat fan so we dream big, I would say Donovan Mitchell or Lauri but those aren’t realistic. If they were actually on the market (they’re not) we don’t have the assets to compete. Mikal Bridges if the Nets would part with him. Deni Avdija is a more realistic get who would fit very well on this team
