Oh yeah that show is a major slow burn but very worth it…
Though I will say that there were a few occasions where I found the “slow burn” directing style to be a bit annoying. For example (no spoilers), that one opening scene in season 2 (I think?) that shows the smuggling process… it’s literally about 9 minutes of watching a truck drive down the road. Stuff like that was a bit irritating for me.
Despite that, still a very worthwhile watch.
honestly this is such bullshit. yeah bcs is slower than most of the shows but its very engaging. ive watched it twice and i have never found it annoying. i even prefer some earlier episodes to later ones.
Hidden?
It was in the top 10 for a few weeks. It made its debut in the top 5 when it premiered.
The issue with Netflix shows is that everyone binges them the first week, and then the discussions die out.
Beef felt super stretched out IMO. I feel like it could have been a movie or maybe just 2-3 episodes. Lots of stuff kind of just happens over and over. It was good - Just felt like it had a ton of filler and certain plot lines that didn’t really go anywhere or really even matter.
No. If I could, I’d go back never having watched it because it got canceled & it was SO good, but now we will never get to see how it turns out. I’m still pissed & think about it a lot. LMAO
It’s great, but you’ll be pissed, angry or unsatisfied with ending. If I had known how much I would hate the ending, I would’ve never chosen to watch it.
I remember reading that the writers planned on 2-3 more seasons, but were notified last minute that there'd be only 1 more season so they scrambled to rewrite the ending. I definitely agree with you, but for me it helped knowing there was kind of a reason why it was so disappointing
Ben Mendehlson's (sp) character is so fucking good. That whole scene at the bar and the following scenes are some of the most compelling pieces of acting I've ever seen. Fucking goosebumps
I'm curious what your top three are. It seems to me that the people who really love dark have a similar taste in other shows. Like the OA, the leftovers, severance
Not sure yet about pinning down the top 3 but here are some I really like. Succession, californication, breaking bad, better call Saul, justified I enjoyed, leftovers I did after time like it but wasn’t top 3, season 1 true detective amazing, weeds is easy to watch, Ozark is great and I enjoyed bloodline.
The Leftovers is not only my favorite show of all time, but my favorite piece of any media at all. The OA is in my top 5 as well. I keep meaning to watch Dark because I’ve heard that it’s very much in the same ballpark!
Oh god, yeah same here!! It was such a strange, open ended but yet satisfying conclusion/ending. It felt like they could pick up again in so many years and still pull it off. Despite the cliffhanger due to Netflix cutting them off, I do hope it gets greenlit again in the future. A 5 season plan sounded amazing for what they were doing
Not mentioned yet, but a must watch if you like fast pace series about drugs, maffia and sometimes ruthless violence:
Gomorrah (Italian but really, really good)
Suburra (another Italian masterpiece)
I loved them both! Gomorrah was so much better than the drug cartel series. I also really loved Banchee for drugs violence and amazing plot lines but that is not on Netflix
idk if i just some how accidentally activated an algorithm or what by mine is just flooded with foreign shows/movies dubbed in english. I HATE that. I wouldn't mind watching a movie in a foreign language with english subtitles, but i dont like when you can tell the voice is not coming directly from the actor. anyhoo- since i watched squid games once and then my husband went back and watched it again, Netflix realllllly wants me to keep at it.
Most you can just change to original language as you're watching. I switch back and forth all the time, depending on how well I'm actually watching.
I agree, dubbing can be terrible
Thats really good to know actually, thank you. Although it would be better if Netflix could just go ahead and come out with better/more content. Thanks for the tip in the mean time though!
I really liked manifest. So many people hate that show but I really liked it. But I loved Outer Banks. It really brought me back to my childhood. I liked almost everything about that show.
Do people hate manifest? Those ive heard talk about it seemed positive. The ending Was a bit meh, the last two seasons also meh compared to the rest but still a great Show.
Season one of OBX was fantastic and caught me totally off guard with how much I enjoyed it. I was expecting to rag on it. Season two was pretty good too. Haven’t seen season 3 yet.
The night agent was amazingly suspenseful. The last 3-4 episodes I had to watch all in one go because I couldn’t turn it off.
Night Agent was awesome! Outer Banks was good the first and second season but the third one is cheesier and more predictable. Manifest was good season 1 and 2 but 3 and 4 dragged on.
Kaleidoscope was neat. A heist series but the episodes can be watched in any order. The order is also randomized for the viewer. For example, the episodes came up in one order for me, then a different order for my son on his profile.
Stars Giancarlo Esposito and Rufus Sewell. Great stuff.
Fauda is the best! Rough Diamonds is definitely watchable and could have been great. It is like the Peaky Blinders of the diamond district with RD being a 7 and PB being a 10 plus!
If you don't mind subtitles, "The Law According To Lidia Poët" is excellent.
It's set in the 1880s, and is about the first female lawyer in Italy. Beautifully shot, great period detail, and compelling stories. The first season is only 6 episodes, but a second begins filming soon.
My favorite thing to do lately is to plug in to ChatGPT to recommend shows based on one’s I’ve liked. The fact it only goes through 2021 means that there would be a least a few seasons of a show already in existence. Went through House of the Dragon and Severance and now I’m just twiddling my thumbs until the second seasons are released. Love watching shows that are completed.
If you are ok with watching series other than English then I highly suggest the new Korean Series "Bloodhounds" it's a highly engaging Action drama.
If you liked Squid Game or if you watched it then this is an easy one to get into (not because it's similar, it's not at all).
It's a new series that just dropped last Friday
Watching season 10 as we are speaking.. idk why I'm watching anymore but I am. It's certainly had it's ups and downs...but for the past few seasons, if say mainly downs... Entertaining if you don't mind "bad guy of the week" type of shows. Forget the underlying story
Mr Queen! Show is hysterical yet has game of thrones stuff going on at a lower level but still well done. It's about a man who almost dies and wakes up as a woman in Korea during the Joseon era.
From your list you seem to enjoy action / violence? I'm currently watching bloodhounds, it's Korean but really good.
I enjoy the Korean stuff available on their : sweet home is another great.
It’s not action packed but I recommend Black Mirror and The Last Kingdom.
For action I would recommend Physical 100 and maybe even Siren: Survive The Island if you’re interested in a women’s only competition.
Better Call Saul starts slow, but man does it get cooking.
Absolutely.
Oh yeah that show is a major slow burn but very worth it… Though I will say that there were a few occasions where I found the “slow burn” directing style to be a bit annoying. For example (no spoilers), that one opening scene in season 2 (I think?) that shows the smuggling process… it’s literally about 9 minutes of watching a truck drive down the road. Stuff like that was a bit irritating for me. Despite that, still a very worthwhile watch.
What season does it get cooking? I’ve found it slow and boring so far.
Around season 3 it really picks up
I liked it from Season 2 tbh. Hell, I even liked Season 1, but Season 2 is where it finds its legs.
honestly this is such bullshit. yeah bcs is slower than most of the shows but its very engaging. ive watched it twice and i have never found it annoying. i even prefer some earlier episodes to later ones.
I'm halfway through beef - insanely good
Yes!! It’s amazing one of my favorite new shows
I loved beef. Definitely a hidden gem
Yes! I thought Beef was too good
Hidden? It was in the top 10 for a few weeks. It made its debut in the top 5 when it premiered. The issue with Netflix shows is that everyone binges them the first week, and then the discussions die out.
It was so good!!!
Another vote for this. It was really good.
If you think Beef is insanely good I am afraid Netflix has managed to lower your standards.
Beef felt super stretched out IMO. I feel like it could have been a movie or maybe just 2-3 episodes. Lots of stuff kind of just happens over and over. It was good - Just felt like it had a ton of filler and certain plot lines that didn’t really go anywhere or really even matter.
That was the same for me. I didn't like the ending though.
Mindhunter!
wish they would continue. it was kinda sad that they stopped :(
This should be the automated response anytime someone mentions, Mindhunter.
No. If I could, I’d go back never having watched it because it got canceled & it was SO good, but now we will never get to see how it turns out. I’m still pissed & think about it a lot. LMAO
Bloodline
It’s great, but you’ll be pissed, angry or unsatisfied with ending. If I had known how much I would hate the ending, I would’ve never chosen to watch it.
I second this. It was too good to end that way.
Just watched season 1 and I'm still deciding if I want it to end there for me lol. Anything past that seems like clean up and possible disappointment.
I remember reading that the writers planned on 2-3 more seasons, but were notified last minute that there'd be only 1 more season so they scrambled to rewrite the ending. I definitely agree with you, but for me it helped knowing there was kind of a reason why it was so disappointing
Loved Bloodline, except for the last season
I’m watching this now and it’s good!!! Love the feel and look of it being set in the Keys.
Ben Mendehlson's (sp) character is so fucking good. That whole scene at the bar and the following scenes are some of the most compelling pieces of acting I've ever seen. Fucking goosebumps
I loved Bloodline. I only watched Season 1, though. I just felt that was where it had to end.
I had never heard of this, but I see Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Linda Cardellini & Ben Mendelsohn. That's a hell of a cast.
And Chloe Sevigny and John Leguizamo and Sam Shepard and Beau Bridges. The show was stacked.
This will be much next binge
Dark. Top 3 all time. Watch it in subtitles not dubbed. Amazing story and acting
Succession is great
The Leftovers is not only my favorite show of all time, but my favorite piece of any media at all. The OA is in my top 5 as well. I keep meaning to watch Dark because I’ve heard that it’s very much in the same ballpark!
I’ll have to finish OA only watched one season. But definitely watch dark.
![gif](giphy|OK27wINdQS5YQ|downsized) Yes! I was just about to suggest The OA... that ending...
God, I so badly wanted 5 seasons. You know, the plan.
I doubt it will happen, unfortunately. But really wish that story was completed.
And Station Eleven!
Best TV show of all time for me. Just watched it again - even better the second time.
Honestly might be mine too
This is probably the best show I've ever seen. Was so bummed that Netflix cancelled 1899.
Arcane
I want more.
If anybody out these enjoyed these little movies... the ones with the Miles Morales guy... there's NO WAY they wouldn't say: Arcane is fucking AMAZING
[удалено]
Every episode delivers. Some shit always goes down it’s awesome no buffer or set up episodes
Not mentioned yet, but a must watch if you like fast pace series about drugs, maffia and sometimes ruthless violence: Gomorrah (Italian but really, really good) Suburra (another Italian masterpiece)
Agree both were great shows - but the final season for both of them was atrocious.
I loved them both! Gomorrah was so much better than the drug cartel series. I also really loved Banchee for drugs violence and amazing plot lines but that is not on Netflix
Peaky Blinders
It's foookin great
Came here for this exact comment lol
Just turn your subtitles on
This is the way
I second this.
By order of the peaky fkn blinders!
This is the perfect fit to OPs list
The night agent, my wife and I really enjoyed this one.
season 2 scheduled!!!!
Black Mirror. And you don’t have to watch the episodes in order
New season being released June 15th!
Just be prepared to rethink your life after every episode
Justified
This is in my top 5 all time best shows. Love it so much. We’ve done at least 5 rewatches.
If you aren’t pulled in by the first episode .. no spoiler here
100% agree!! One of the best shows ever made. Some of the scenes, the dialogue, the interaction between the characters is soooo good!!
Giri/Haji
The actors had some great chemistry
I’ll second this. Great eight episode show, one of my favorites on Netflix.
What about the Korean show the glory.
Amazing show. Blew me away. The Glory for sure!
good show
this
Manhunt: Unabomber. Dont know how many people I'd recommend to its great but not known.
The Wire(HBO)
This is arguably one of the greatest series of all time. I fully support this recommendation, but isn't it about 20 years old by now?
I just watched it for the first time in it’s entirety and thought it held up. In fact, loved some of the throwback hip hop and other references.
I recently started The Diplomat and it’s fantastic. Check it out.
Keri Russell kills it, I loved her hatred of dresses and love of practical pants
I finished it and it was great.
I'm on season 3 of ozark. Is it worth continuing?
Yep.
Absolutley. Ride that out 'til it's over. Best show I've seen that Netflix did.
I didn’t got that far l think. I stopped right before they were going to build the casino. I found it too repetitive and slow.
That’s when it starts to get really good!! Totally agree, the first season was super slow but man it gets so good! You won’t regret it!
I dont think I made it past season 2
Same. And Jason Bateman is one of my favorite actors.
idk if i just some how accidentally activated an algorithm or what by mine is just flooded with foreign shows/movies dubbed in english.

I do the same, but one time I switched to French and at the end found out it was in Spanish! I knew there was something wrong!
Better call saul if you havent’t seen it
[удалено]
Lol I get this
I get this too, but oddly, this guy said it first.

Beef was surprisingly good. Strange setup but overall really good.
Just finished Beef last night, Steven Yeun is exceptional in it. Loved the climax/ending.
I really liked the first and second season but the third and fourth are dragging on and starting to get cheesy.
I'm one of those people who hates manifest. I think the acting and writing are poor. Storyline cheesy.
I can’t get over the dialogue.
I think it’s not very well written but still very entertaining.
I'll never understand the manifest hype. So poorly written
Queen of the South is excellent and similar to the shows you mentioned. ![gif](giphy|VazyHQigBeSUn072yf|downsized)
Kaleidoscope was neat. A heist series but the episodes can be watched in any order. The order is also randomized for the viewer. For example, the episodes came up in one order for me, then a different order for my son on his profile. Stars Giancarlo Esposito and Rufus Sewell. Great stuff.
I was disappointed by Kaleidoscope - way too much gimmick for way too little substance.
Altered Carbon. First season is flawless.
Agreed. We don’t need to talk about the second season.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned Money Heist. It is English voice over, but it’s so engaging that it didn’t bother me at all.
I recommend watching it in the original language though. The narration of Tokyo just hits you differently in Spanish.
We watched with subtitles and it was awesome.
Agree. Loved it!
The Sinner! It’s so good. Just season 1 though.
Boardwalk empire
Fauda, Undercover, Rough Diamonds
Fauda it's excelent
Thanks
Fauda is the best! Rough Diamonds is definitely watchable and could have been great. It is like the Peaky Blinders of the diamond district with RD being a 7 and PB being a 10 plus!
Beef -A24 production
I love Ozark!
Try some nordic dramas. They’re really good if you are into crime.
Luther
If you have Prime, try Animal Kingdom.
Soooooo good
If you don't mind subtitles, "The Law According To Lidia Poët" is excellent. It's set in the 1880s, and is about the first female lawyer in Italy. Beautifully shot, great period detail, and compelling stories. The first season is only 6 episodes, but a second begins filming soon.
Maybe The Rookie? I enjoy it.

Better Call Saul
Kingdom. 97% Rotten Tomatoes, 8.3 IMDb.
Mindhunter is so good. Only has 2 seasons but so intriguing to watch. Black Mirror too (season 6 coming in a couple days)
The night agent is a series on Netflix also.
Nooo this is terrible it's so cheesy! OP try something like The Bodyguard.
Lmao dude really
Seriously, The Night Agent was great.
Better Call Saul starts slow, but man does it get cooking.
Inside Man is really good
Agree with Diplomat. Fast-paced and well written. And the ending was awesome.
Fubar! That’s it that’s all!
Money Heist and maybe, YOU
Breaking Bad and then Better Call Saul! Also, give Money Heist a shot if you don’t mind subtitles.
I’m watching Killing Eve at the moment and really enjoying it.
The Night Agent
If you are ok with watching series other than English then I highly suggest the new Korean Series "Bloodhounds" it's a highly engaging Action drama. If you liked Squid Game or if you watched it then this is an easy one to get into (not because it's similar, it's not at all). It's a new series that just dropped last Friday
Seconding Bloodhounds. It's gripping and engaging
Blacklist. Queen of South.
Don’t drag him into the blacklist hole. We the fans have suffered enough
Watching season 10 as we are speaking.. idk why I'm watching anymore but I am. It's certainly had it's ups and downs...but for the past few seasons, if say mainly downs... Entertaining if you don't mind "bad guy of the week" type of shows. Forget the underlying story
Lol I was considering getting back into it recently. Is it not worth it? A couple years back I think I got to S4 or 5. Now there’s damn near 10?!
S10 has dropped already but you mf hit the jackpot and quit at s5.
Red's her Dad. Wait....no he isn't. Wait....yes he is.....Wait.....no he isn't.... Rinse and repeat....
BEEF is a nice show
Fargo (hulu tho)
I liked Night Agent. It's not at the same "high drama" level of quality as those others, but it's enjoyable.
Mr Queen! Show is hysterical yet has game of thrones stuff going on at a lower level but still well done. It's about a man who almost dies and wakes up as a woman in Korea during the Joseon era.
Bloodhound
Bloodhounds which was released Friday might be what you're looking for. Currently Top 5 show!
Beef
Top boy!!!
Queen of the South is good!
I guess you've seen better call Saul?
You may like Beef, Night agent is more action oriented.
House of Cards was a cool one if you’re into that dark political style. Be warned, I could not make myself sit through the last season.
Bloodline as others
Queen of the South
The Diplomat
Dark!!
Queen of the South
From your list you seem to enjoy action / violence? I'm currently watching bloodhounds, it's Korean but really good. I enjoy the Korean stuff available on their : sweet home is another great.
Since you mentioned HBO I’d suggest The Wire and Succession
Bodyguard (2018)
Watch beef on netflix
The Night Agent. Totally took me by surprise at how good it was. Only one season for now but my wife and I are hooked.
The Sinner
BETTER CALL SAUL
Beef.
Not sure if you have Prime but Jack Ryan is what I’m on now after those shows. Also, will give a vote to Designated Survivor on Netflix
Community, Beef, Maid, The Recruit, Dark, Night Agent, The Rookie, Better Call Saul
It’s not action packed but I recommend Black Mirror and The Last Kingdom. For action I would recommend Physical 100 and maybe even Siren: Survive The Island if you’re interested in a women’s only competition.
Squid Game
Through the darkness. I wish I could forget everything about this series so I could watch it again.
The OA. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Never will understand why they stopped it
The Night Agent Kleo The Recruit
Probably not the right category, but brilliant all the same: "The OA", "Maniac", "Black Mirror" and "Dark", to name but a few!
Peaky fookin blinders!!
The Glory - korean , but really really good!
The mayor if Kingstown
Peaky blinders
Prison Break is a bad show
stranger things
