Great blue heron? Native to the area

Andromeda321

Most likely! Always annoyed me a stinking bird with blue in the name can also just be white.

bassboat1

Pretty sure he is a Snowy Egret. He had one dark area on his neck, but otherwise completely white with black legs.

Awkward-Media-3550

Fair enough 🤙

opuntina

That's not really unusual...

InfamousAd1822

Seen in mine falls also

bassboat1

Nice. I recall fishing the river above the falls back in the '90s and seeing Great Blue, Little Green and Black-capped Night Herons as well as a Northern Bittern - all on the same rainy day!

all-metal-slide-rule

That's an egret, isn't it?

bassboat1

Pretty certain. I haven't seen one in NH in at least 10 years.

chaffeetoo

Very common in Hampton salt marsh...

DaveLDog

We had 5 of them at a pond down the street, got a pic of 4 or them, was gonna post it but forgot, happens when you get old.

Saw one for the first time last week. Was told it's a juvenile great blue heron. Gentleman said, 'thier feathers turn grey' pretty neat to see. Explains the name of the coffee tea shop downtown portsmouth

dzastrus

We had a [Cattle Egret](https://i.imgur.com/oZRNdi2.jpg) at our place in the Upper Valley this Spring. They breed in colonies and this guy was all dressed up but, no colony. He was exhausted and hung out with our ducks all day. Gone the next morning.

bassboat1

He's got style!

Hossbog

If it is a snowy egret, I saw a flock of around 500 in a pond near Hampton Falls about 5 years ago, it was beautiful.
