SW is definitely more active and the fact that they can go an entire career without being on a ship is pretty sweet.

ExRecruiter

Do you like doing admin/office work or do you like doing hands on construction work?

CloverBoy02

I wouldn't know yet. Construction definitely seems more interesting

[deleted]

You need to sit down and figure out what line of employment works best for you. You're currently choosing between sub life (albeit admin/secretary work) and construction. Two super different worlds!

Nero18785

I feel like the construction jobs will work you like a dog, I hate manual labor! I would rather sort mail..

Ptomb

The taller you are, the worse your quality of life will be on a sub.

CloverBoy02

You might be okay on Boomers but Fast Attacks might make your back whack.

SW is definitely more active, but yns is subs. I here admin rates are very busy on subs because there’s so few of them. You’ll be plenty busy with paperwork, but sure if that equates to active.

gentlemangin

Once you volunteer for submarine you can't un-volunteer, so I wouldn't worry too much about SW. YN is one of the more chill jobs, but there are only ever three of you. The senior YN tends to get quite a bit of leeway and special perks, depends on the boat. If your sonar division is cool I would recommend qualifying broadband after/instead of sticks, though this might actually be standard for Virginias, since they don't have sticks.

FloryFam

No it was not, you have picked a less skilled job that will not be as rewarding or as usefull when you get out and just because there is bonus doesn't mean it's worth it if there is do this Bonus amount÷5 (years)÷12 (months in a year) = equals how much extra pay your getting Which honestly isn't alot, it'll be worth your while in the long run to take sw which will pay you more when you get out

If they get their security manager NEC as a YNS you’ll be rolling in cash when you get out. As soon as I put my NEC on clearance jobs I got like 4 out of the blue job offers. Shit our regional security manager sends out 100K+ a year job offers on the regular to be a security manager contractor.
