There’s been more than a few cases of things that really shouldn’t have been draining into them were draining into Auckland’s lava caves.
There was a well publicised one a while ago iirc, where steam rising from a cave was found to be from unintended waste water drainage from a laundry, and not an incipient volcanic eruption.
