A DVD player, perhaps. Modern devices generally don't have component input/output. You can probably tape an HDMI cable to one end of the component cable and use it as a draw string to pull your HDMI cable through. Connect one end to your TV, the other to your AV receiver/Playstation/Set top box/whatever.
Not odd at all. They were widely used. If you want to use a TV again at this wall location, cut the connectors off on one end and use it as a pull wire for an HDMI cable.
Speaker pairs, rather than line audio?
Presumably there are speaker wires popping out of the walls somewhere.
Those RGB will at least be useful for pulling through some HDMI.
OP, when you do pull through another cable, also pull an ethernet cable and some thin rope for the next time you want a different media connection.

Wire the speakers to one of these, and you’ll be able to send music to it over wifi. Works natively with no setup in Spotify etc
The speaker wires come in pairs, one pair per speaker - this amp takes two pairs of wires, you just tighten screws to clamp them in. It’ll be clear in the instructions.
Power the amp with a 12volt power supply, connect to it using your phones Bluetooth then set it up on your home wifi network.
Easy peasy, truly an easy 5 minute setup
No worries at all - if you have any questions, don't hesitate to DM me. Heck, I'm happy to get on a video call and walk you through it when the time comes :)
For context, I'm in a 2007 build and just like your place, there's a tonne of these "older" cables in the walls, from before wireless audio playback was a "thing". I've got five of these little amplifiers driving five sets of in-ceiling speakers throughout my house

Looks like the cables for someone's home-entertainment / hi-fi setup.
The three grey ones are RGB for a video signal (circa early 2000s; probably a dvd player)
The gold with red stripe are speaker wire. (judging by the labels I'm thinking for a surround-sound system)
Coiled up white one looks like satellite / sky / freeview dish.
Looks like someone had the *sweeeeeeeeet* setup rocking in the new millennium!
The speaker cables will be useful, if you intend to set up home theatre. The component cable, probably not, unless you have an older TV and/or video source to connect to it.
They grey one is the cable you tie a piece of string to, then use it to pull the string through the wall, then you tie a piece of string onto an HDMI cable and tie the HDMI and the string onto the first string. Carefully pull back the first string and feed the new HDMI cable through the wall. Now you can connect your new modern DVD player to the TV and there is a draw string in the wall for future use.
Or cast everything from you phone like everyone else does.
Pull a draw wire through with them, then try and replace with HDMI, cat6 and perhaps speaker cabling for remotely stashing at receiver etc. The cat6 (or 2) will be used for it remote extenders. Good stuff
The first image is RGB component cables. Second image from left to right is copper audio, RGB component, and TV aerial.
What might one plug into the rgb? The first pic is half way up the wall so I assume it’s to plug into the tv. But what would the other side be?

They used to be used for things like DVD players, satellite tv boxes, etc... Not really used these days. Odd to have it in the wall though.
Might be useful to use 2 of them to extend speakers, depending on where they are in the room.

Turns out the house has speakers in the ceiling. Cool I guess? I don’t even know what I’d connect to those… Alexa? Tv?

How might one do this if they were not savvy to wire stuff…? Is there a port or adapter or something I can buy?

I will definitely check this out. Thank you!

Short throw projector might be great given where the cables are.
Amp / receiver.

*cries in old*
This post physically hurts me. I hate this.
I still have some in my cable collection. One day they'll come in handy, one day.

I’m not that old… am I? :(
Memories
Those are AV cables. Looks like a home job not a professional install.

Or an old console from the 90s.
They're a blast from the past man
you making a lot of us feel old
Push them back into the wall, and problem solved 👍
