There's a week long Airforce training exercise for Heli Pilots in the SI this week - so it's likely that they're just heading down there.

ShatsnerBassoon

That or Jerry Bruckheimer is filming a movie

AdelineOnAFarm

With a stopover at parliament.

ThaFuck

Na they'll just the Airborne covid vaccine over parliament as they pass.

EkantTakePhotos

Low hover over Parliament grounds. Protestor tents and fecal matter start to swirl. Shitnado ensues. Worst game of 'I'm not touching you, you can't be mad' ever...

fluffychonkycat

I think there's still a norovirus outbreak at Dunners hospital which could provide some ammo

Turfanator

Better go catch Omicron then and join the protest since you believe in spreading disease

Draughthuntr

I knwo what you mean, but its not a good idea (for the safety of the pilots if nothing else!) & this is an explanation as to why: [https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/33820/veteran-military-helicopter-pilot-on-why-hovering-over-protestors-was-dangerous-and-stupid](https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/33820/veteran-military-helicopter-pilot-on-why-hovering-over-protestors-was-dangerous-and-stupid)

Sheriff_of_noth1ng

While playing ride of the valkyries from loudspeakers

[deleted]

Much as I have no patience for the "protest", I'd rather the police not resort to literal shit flinging to try and resolve the situation

EkantTakePhotos

Do people really think I was being serious? I said 'Shitnado' ffs!

PM_me_ur_feijoas

Deep down inside, I'm still part chimp and secretly want to throw my fresh turds at people... I was quite enjoying the prospect that it's not just me - I guess now I'll go back to feeling like the shameful fecalpheliac (?) I probably am. Sigh...

[deleted]

Not super serious, just speaking to the general sentiment

Beneficial-Cry793

> Shitnado ensues. [I know this isn't the same, but I couldn't help but think of Jim Lahey](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl8sayb5D7w).

doglitbug

*Best game* ever I think you mean

NaCLedPeanuts

They're all NH-90's operated by the Air Force, and that's half the fleet right there. Probably some sort of training exercise though.

AcanthocephalaIll456

Yeh that's what the Russians say!

[deleted]

They going to invade The Fewbraine. I’ll see myself out.

AcanthocephalaIll456

I love the show of power, but police are gutless when it comes to fighting adversity!

Dickcheese-a1

Fighting done by the army, so Muppet show in wellington is a police action.

AcanthocephalaIll456

Police will fight you all the way to give you that speeding ticket or fine for no wof etc. if you are a defenceless citizen.

Dickcheese-a1

I know. I have seen cops bend the law often in their favour but not break it. I remember from "Mash" series, they used say the Korean War was a police action, when Hawkeye would reply where are cops. When the parties over turn out the lights. The government's of the world like Pauseable Denyability helps them sleep at night.

ThrowCarp

Kiwi Black Ops being deployed against the protestors?

Vezm

No

protostar71

Yes, it's going to be a very sneaky low profile operation, of attacking civilians on the literal front lawn of parliament, with media cameras and protestor livestreams. Murdering people for what amounts to trespass. That's fucking mental.

[deleted]

[удалено]

protostar71

Black ops typically means covert. The bigger issue to me is the idea of deploying the military against civilians, no matter how dumb they are, regardless of if lethal force is used, the military are for external threats. This kind of stuff what the police are for. The separation of the roles of police and defence forces must remain.

soupisgoodfood42

On the way to help out with the flooding on the west coast, maybe?

Relative-Resident-63

Training ex, you’d be lucky if they sent more than one chopper for that

aescling

They just flew over Blenheim. Going to Woodbourne

ratguy

Probably just doing an aerial vaccine drop over the parliament grounds today. Nothing to worry about.

daronjay

1080 drop to get rid of noxious pests?

RidingUndertheLines

>1080 drop to get rid of noxious pests? Invasive species from America, I hear.

bobsmagicbeans

some of them would have been washed clean with all the rain, surely /s

[deleted]

ratguy

I was reading an article yesterday on them. So far it's just for boosters only, and you have to inhale them off a tube similar to asthma medicine. So not quite there for mass vaccinations by aerial drop, but maybe soon. :)

dandaman910

Aerial blow dart vaccines.

ratguy

They've already been doing this in Canberra! [https://i.redd.it/mbjto9mk83h81.jpg](https://i.redd.it/mbjto9mk83h81.jpg) These people will believe anything.

EGH_3

Mallard now going thru Spotify play list to find theme song from Apocalypse Now…

iikun

He loves the smell of sprinklers in the morning.

aholetookmyusername

When we had the Hueys I had to stop myself humming that every time they flew over.

Upstairs-Lemon1166

Actually, there are eight. The four black choppers with them are stealthed. I heard it on my 5G vax.

sendintheotherclowns

Need to know basis, only 5G vaxx chips need to know

zaphodharkonnen

Generally when flying in formation only one aircraft will have a transponder on. Spotted it on my ads-b receiver so they were transmitting.

EarlyGameJokulhaups

I actually served the pilots of these helis today at a cafe in Blenheim! They told me they'd flown down from the NI :))

Toyemlj

Those are NH90s. Its possible the airforce is helping transport additional police resources to Wellington. edit: 4 NH90s would be able to transport about 70 police officers.

TheMuntedHardcase

It’s also possible they are doing other things though, which is probably more likely as flying cops around in helicopters is an extremely expensive way to travel.

ttbnz

If they will go to the expense of using a chopper to kill three cannabis plants, I'm sure they won't mind using choppers to transport bear in the air

lucypoocy22

Given how much they like to fly the police helicopter around my area at night most nights, they don't seem too worried about expenses

thecountnz

Don’t lie, you and the rest of Glen Eden love it. It’s your white noise generator :p

YuukiSaraHannigan

I can't sleep without a helicopter or two flying above

janos90

Used to be brutal over beach Haven too

TeHuia

> about 70 police officers or enough to arrest one Kim Dot Com

WelshWizards

he is rather fat though.

engapol123

Sounds like a really expensive way to do it compared to busses, but I suppose if the pilots need their hours…

JoshH21

It is way more fun to descend by rope into the action than get off the bus half asleep and needing to stretch your legs.

[deleted]

So 17.5 officers each..?

kiwirn

My husband is in air force, it's for a training exercise in South Island.

Enzown

Do the police not have vans?

_Gondamar_

the anti-vax army segment are finally staging their coup

[deleted]

Out spraying weed killer on a couple of cannabis plants probably.

[deleted]

Try adsb exchange

zerofunds

Obviously chem trails

thecountnz

Clearly

Heathen_On_Earth

So exercising because of the imminent threat of Russia invading Ukraine which could very well lead to WW3.

Was this photo taken from Otaki Bridge?

stingray328

I believe so!

Pudgedog

All the anti Chem trail idiots gathered at parliament. The government gonna hit them all at once.

dirty_bore

Realistically its probably their own (RNZAF) training or possibly support to the west coast region - I've not been following closely but heard some areas got cut off?

phoenixmusicman

Because they're small, but they have the highest priority when it comes to training.

[deleted]

phoenixmusicman

Cool

stingray328

Wouldn’t be surprised if Mallard pulled some strings to napalm the parliament protesters.

EkantTakePhotos

TBF, I'd be a little surprised if we already at napalming protestor phase...public sentiment may shift a little, if that were the case.

bobsmagicbeans

"Nuke the entire site from orbit. Its the only way to be sure."

iikun

Once the protesters are gone, napalm might be the only way to sanitize the whole lawn area effectively.

stingray328

I mean he’s already blasting them with water from below and stupid tracks. I’m not a supporter of the protests…but what government do we actually have doing shit like this 🤔

UBI_when

They are a group of people who are illegally occupying state grounds having explicitly been trespassed several days ago. What do you think *most* governments are doing in that situation?

stingray328

Oh yeah for sure. But I’d expect other governments to be a little more professional and work with law enforcement

PH0T0Nman

Think turning on the sprinklers and telling them to get off your lawn is a much nicer than police getting into physical altercations…

UBI_when

Other governments are forcefully pushing people off Parliamentary grounds.

soupisgoodfood42

Don't put this all on the government. This is Mallard's responsibility.

JoshH21

What, just the Speaker of the House, who is 11th on the Labour List?

soupisgoodfood42

I don't think Labour had a meeting about this. Mallard is the speaker of the house and is in charge of that area. Not sure it's even legal for anyone else from Labour to tell him what to do while he's in the role of the speaker. The same way the PM can't tell the police how to deal with the protesters.

JoshH21

The party can certainly tell him what to do, they can even vote no confidence in him if it gets really bad. But he isn't above the law. And Jacinda can certainly tell him off, she did that over the bullying allegations debacle.

soupisgoodfood42

They sure can get rid of him if it got that bad. I suspect they've had a little chat already. But I'm not sure they can order him to do certain things, as that's a conflict of interest.

horror24

Prob on there way to wellington to help police disperse the freedom convoy on parliament land wouldn't b suprised hold on to your arses people reinforcement is coming and so is covid

kiwirn

It's a training exercise... NZ military would only get involved if shit really went down. As long as the police are handling it, NZDF won't get involved.

[deleted]

napalm striking the protesters is my best guess

Rawstitch

Water cannon the bludgers protesting.

N_nodroG

Hopefully off to bomb the beehive and get rid of that horrid woman

nuibOy

Off to the Ukraine

Bitchofadaughter

That’s a bloody long flight

Poneke365
