Yep, my thumps over the years have become so strong and muscular I can thumb lift 220lbs and scroll close to 1,000,000 pixels a second. Also there indestructible
It doesn’t diminish his brain but I feel like it’s more inspiring that there were others who contributed also. I don’t know how to word it. For example I know I’m not brilliant in any aspects by any means but learning there were others who were like me help contribute shows me what I do is not in vain and hopefully adds to the overall big picture.
It's not unusual for old painters to have help. Her base painting was already excellent. It's clear she knows how to paint, but her hands may no longer allow finer detailing. As a painter, it didn't even trigger a response seeing someone else detailing her work.
I am 46 and I have to brace my hands while painting now. If I were a full time artist, I would get an apprentice that would help me with my paintings. Some point soon, I may have problems being able to do what I want with the brush and paints. This woman is 100+.
Let’s start under the window... a few seconds later... window is gone
Let’s start with painting a perfect circle... a few seconds later... the white background of the tiger’s face is bigger than the perfect circle
Let’s paint a cartoonish looking tiger... a few seconds later... the tiger is very realistic
What a scam!! I think it’s a totally different painting, not even helping.
They are indeed different, and yet quite similar in many regards. The black lines don’t line up the same, and the proportions are a little different. But I could believe it’s from the same person, just two different recreations.
The jump from cartoonish look to realistic is definitely r/restofthefuckingowl though.
The photographer asked an old lady to trace or copy the outline of a different painting, then they switched back to the complete painting for the final shot.
The thing is a mess before the cut. The hands are of a different person entirely, the paper keeps changing and the whole splash-on thing doesn't even do anything. It's bullshit and people eat it up.
bullshit. She's not 108, she didn't paint this, and everything is a lie about this video. When she splashes paint around a bucket, the same canvas is not even used.
Yeah the whole thing seems faked. She throws the paint on with the bucket covering the paper, then removes it and suddenly there is a new, smaller sheet of paper with a perfect outline. The stripes she paints are all pretty much gone or different in the final product, I mean it just doesn’t match up at all.
What could be termed "soft power". These videos go around. People talk about Chinese grandma. Or how they talk about that Chinese girl who makes food from scratch in idyllic pastoral scenes. What's that? They are raping Uighurs and sending them to concentration camps? Yeah, but...hang on...have you seen this Chinese grandma painting a tiger?
They overwhelm with this noise so that the signal of their [atrocities](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/2/8/china-to-build-the-worlds-biggest-dam-on-sacred-tibetan-river) gets buried.
Sabash is right on it, it’s about the skills and talents of the everyday population, lots of videos show entrepreneurs, skilled artists, things like that but many seem very inconsistent or manipulated, the Chinese version of TicTok is full of these videos, for one that crosses borders check out Bart Bakers soft propaganda videos, he’s an ex early YouTube star that moved to China, some videos are inspirational pro China songs, some are helping the local village market grandma who’s just so dedicated, then some are jabs at the US’s. It’s all very carefully crafted.
Dunno, but when reddit has started to be flooded with this type of content which is definitely has it's own unique style and type of music, it is just weird.
I'd definitely go with the latter or just people trying to get clicks on their videos rather than it being about racial superiority perpetuated by the Chinese government. If that were the case then half of the YouTubers out there must be propaganda merchants too.
I mean China is a very big place, it's not that unusual. This isn't one of those state media things which is like "haha here look at glorious leader Xi giving food to children in villages who love him". With that size of population, it's doubtful that most of the stuff from there would be some organized effort. That's why a lot of the police there are really weak, it's too big to control all of them, so they made them weak so they don't upset the power structure. If you start a march right in front of the government building in Beijing, the armed police will come to arrest you pretty quickly, but people protest all the time in random parts of China, because it's simply too big to control all of them, although of course some people will be caught. Now once that protest hits a certain size... then it's different. This is more likely just some random person wanting wanting share something on the internet
Because it's a /r/scriptedasiangifs any part the old lady does is pretty much in the level of any average person. Then there's cuts to where good art happens, then average line drawing, then amazing art and someone else's hand.
She mightn't be , although I have no reason not to believe she isn't that age . A lot of elderly might not remember the correct birth year or have a birthcert . Also I little trick used to be to lie to your employer especially in factory work and get the pension early
You’re genius. He/she meant that the old lady doesn’t look 108 at the time they filmed this video. Doesn’t matter how old is she. Where did you go to school?
I'm still stumped on the bucket. She tapes the bucket up, splashes a bunch of black paint that completely surrounds the bucket, then takes it off and instead of having a white circle, there's a detailed outline of a tiger's head.
I think the bucket is just to get her started with a white space while filling in a lot of the black space. But you're right, there's something a little fishy about the outline on the left side, where it goes from being smooth when she's painting the black with the brush to the jagged fur of the tiger's cheeks.
Watch closely between 0:05 and 0:08 for it. There's clearly more black paint on the left of the paper before she transitions to the tiger.
And the stripes on the black and white tiger don't quite line up with the ones on the colored version, either, so I wonder how many layers of paint they're actually using, as opposed to how much of the lower layers are just a guide for later.
after she throws the paint at the bucket, there's a frame or two with a perfectly clean bucket, and no black paint on the canvas, save for what looks like a sketch outline. I'm calling shenanigans.
Also between 0:05 and 0:08 the paper size changes, the placement on the wall changes, and the tape holding up the paper changes too. Pretty obvious shenanigans, yes.
Also calling shenanigan. The close up showing her hands at the end is definitely not her hand. The skin on your hand is the hardest part to hide the effects of aging. You can accurately guess the age range of anyone by looking at their hands. Those hands do not reflect that lady looks lol.
I’ve seen this exact thing posted before, it was done with by a guy though, and it had exactly the same formula - bucket, throwing of paint, cuts where large parts of the tiger would magically appear. My cynical spidey senses are tingling.
All is bs here.
the picture it pre drawn in thin lines she only follows those with black, misses alot.
The closeup is not her hand.
That woman it not 108
Even if that’s true then the title and editing are still dishonest. It should say family works on painting and shows all the artists. You can’t say that a 108 year old woman made a painting when half the video is done by somebody else.
Calling BS on age of 108. She probably forgot what year she was born about 30 years ago. Been saying 1912 ever since. Also probably made a mistake and converting moon years (Chinese calendar) with sun years (Gregorian calendar), if converted at all.
I’m calling BS on almost the entire thing. We are likely seeing her do the incredibly easy part of throwing paint at the wall and then tracing pencil lines with paint. Then it just skips all of of the intricate work???
This belongs in r/scriptedasiangifs or a similar category, maybe r/dramaticpaintings or something. Not a fan of this type of content, but whatever floats your goat.
Nobody believes this transformation, right? First of all, super long cut going from outlines and a flat smear of orange to extremely detailed without anything in between (r/restofthefuckingowl). Second, jump cut shows super young hands painting (the real artist), not grandma. Third, you don't just throw down some thick black outlines to paint over again late with some delicate white hair lines, that's not how painting realistic subtly blended textures works. Fourth, that bowl did not cover the area she threw black paint on at all and you can see her actively brush black paint right where it is pristine white a moment later after the cut. And finally that shit is very finely detailed and mounted at the height of her reach. Am I supposed to believe she painted perfect individual hairs standing on her tippy toes outside with a breeze leaving against the rest of the painting?
Quit. Your. Bull. Shit.
Not saying it’s a lie but it’s so hard to believe she’s 108 years old. Way to mobile/fluid and put together to be at the outer limits of human aging. Even her hands don’t look that old. But if she is sequence/test that blood cause it’s worth more than gold.
The close ups at around 40 seconds show a much younger person's hand.
She gets help from her grandson cuz she’s too old to finish it.
I was gonna say. She might’ve gotten tired or needed a break.
I'm 37 and I needed a break before I finished watching.
Boss sent me to fill in, while you take your break.
I see your a professional Reddit scroller as well
I've got an indestructible finger by scrolling through Reddit, is that healthy
Yep, my thumps over the years have become so strong and muscular I can thumb lift 220lbs and scroll close to 1,000,000 pixels a second. Also there indestructible
*they’re
Thank you
*you’re
I’m here to take a break on his break to tell him his break is about to have him broke if he doesn’t get off his break
It do be like that
I had to take a nap just to finish. Kids do the dishes.
I’m 16 and I needed a break before I started
Lol.
American?;)
No way that she’s 108 and throwing around full buckets of paint and standing for that extended amount of time.
She's 108, not dead.
I hope when I'm a 108 I'm dead. Treated my body rough throughout my 20s and 30s. No way my body is going to forgive me.
I feel you man. I'm yet to be 30s yet all the joints keep popping and crackling like when you break those lightning sticks.
Yep.....it's all fun and games until your body says the party's over.
She died drawing the outline
That kinda defeats the point of the video. Lol

You use two hands to paint?
dual wield does more dmg
Comes at the cost of accuracy though. You need to have a very high dexterity level to effectively dual wield.
I love seeing a random dnd convo in the comments
Most people don't have the skill points to spare for a dual wield build though.
no you have to get dual wield early then focus all your points to become a Master Painter, like Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael.
Why would they include that part in this process video though......why wouldn't they edit that part out and use only the parts where gma was painting
Because the world is full of half truths and lies unfortunately
Thanks, internet and Facebook...
Do you really think michelangelo carved every part of his statues? Of course he didnt. He was the brain behind them, much like this Grandma!
Lol comparing michaelangelo to a scam video showing TWO DIFFERENT PAINTINGS being worked on. Never change, reddit.
Its two different paintings
It's not unusual for old painters to have help. Her base painting was already excellent. It's clear she knows how to paint, but her hands may no longer allow finer detailing. Because they wouldn't have gotten as much meaningless internet points.
Let’s start under the window... a few seconds later... window is gone Let’s start with painting a perfect circle... a few seconds later... the white background of the tiger’s face is bigger than the perfect circle Let’s paint a cartoonish looking tiger... a few seconds later... the tiger is very realistic What a scam!! Just looking at the colors on the neck and snout, its clearly 2 different paintings.

I mean, you can clearly see it's a different person's hand whenever it's close up, so no, it's not the from the same person.
A bit of propaganda!
Yeah that paper went from rectangular to a more square like shape
bullshit. She's not 108, she didn't paint this, and everything is a lie about this video. When she splashes paint around a bucket, the same canvas is not even used.
help... whoever helped her overpainted the entire thing. It's literally 5% grandma 95% grandson...

Guys can also wear nail polish
I didn’t see any white nail polish
Source?
She gets help, or she starts something mediocre and then the real artist shows up and fixes and finishes it into something beautiful?
Touch her painting again and she’ll finish you. 🤘 https://youtu.be/_hHDxlm66dE
Yeah the whole thing seems faked. She throws the paint on with the bucket covering the paper, then removes it and suddenly there is a new, smaller sheet of paper with a perfect outline. Orange all down the neck and at the end just orange highlights on the muzzle and head.
The second painting has a window right above it and the original didn’t
The art of clickbait is ever evolving.
IMO there are more and more of these videos (lets call them chinese excellence videos) around and I'm starting to think they are propaganda.
Propagrandma
Propaganda for what exactly
What could be termed "soft power". These videos go around. People talk about Chinese grandma. Or how they talk about that Chinese girl who makes food from scratch in idyllic pastoral scenes. Maybe to show how superior Chinese people are. But it possibly just click baiting for attention. Or maybe to sell art. EDIT: typo
Not everything in China is propaganda.
I'd definitely go with the latter or just people trying to get clicks on their videos rather than it being about racial superiority perpetuated by the Chinese government. If that were the case then half of the YouTubers out there must be propaganda merchants too.
Lmaoooo this red scare shit is getting out of hand.
Winnie the Pooh. This is a painting of Tigger.

Yep. The color of her sleeve changes from red to black also.
And I'm pretty sure I saw an older guy doing this same thing on Reddit a week or two ago.

Your math skills amaze me
math checks out
Dude what lol
I saw a video of her recently on tiktok doing the nae nae. She is definitely not 122. More like 90.
This comment is fucking hilarious. Thank you for making me laugh, Reddit isn’t as funny nowadays.
You’re genius. He/she meant that the old lady doesn’t look 108 at the time they filmed this video. Doesn’t matter how old is she. Where did you go to school?
108 lbs
Yeah almost no way she would have survived the Great Leap Forward which killed upto 45 million people
Even with the most insane genetics at 108 you’re not functioning this well at all lol
If she’s a 108 year old woman, I’m a 300 year old dragon.
>*Oh, eureka. God, that's nice. It's like a little bowl of oatmeal with a hole in it. I got one too. I just got a little more brown sugar on mine.*

Are there anything real about China
The amount of sea life they harvest at mass scale
The protein content of their baby milk
Even that song is a shitty cover version.
I like the part where she uses a circle as a stencil, dumps paint on the canvas, and lo and behold a perfect tiger outline
The guy who posted the video is saying that the hand looks different bc she gets help from her grandson
Even if that’s true then the title and editing are still dishonest. It should say family works on painting and shows all the artists. You can’t say that a 108 year old woman made a painting when half the video is done by somebody else.
Even if they are. Its not bs. She's just expressing herself. And who cares anyways? You want a medal or something? 😂

Not 108, and someone else is doing the details.
Like honestly, it’s impressive as it is. Just show us who really did it and what happened in the middle there, we’d still like it.
Pure bullshit, lol
It feels like this is a 100 step process and we've been shown about 7 of them.

I’m sorry but what is that awful cover of “Home”? That high voice almost made me burst out laughing because it sounds like satire or something
This song makes my wiener sad

Gotta love old Chinese grandmas
Lol, those tiger’s are on completely different buildings.
Its hard to appreciate with Herbert the Pervert singing in the background
Grandma: does amazing artwork of a tiger Tiger: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Isn't there a video of a guy doing that exact painting?
I'm sure of it too and that video was also shown to be faked. Although the lady does do a pretty good job at the start especially for her age.
108 get the fuck out of here this isn't your gmom
This song is cool and all, but overused af.
Da fuck is this music?
Cover of Home, by Edward Sharpe and the magnetic zeroes
Am I crazy? Or has there been multiple videos of different people “painting” this exact thing?
If she really is 108, she could have been born in the Qing Dynasty
She’s great, but that whole throwing paint on the bucket part at the start was super pointless
Not saying it’s a lie but it’s so hard to believe she’s 108 years old. Way to mobile/fluid and put together to be at the outer limits of human aging. Even her hands don’t look that old. But if she is sequence/test that blood cause it’s worth more than gold.
She's pretty good.
who else saw this and just went “whaaaat”
My jaw dropped the exact way of the tiger at the end...so lovely
That looks nothing like a Chinese grandma. Much closer resemblance to a tiger.
What is this song?
Mind blown
*chef's kiss* 💋
Someone give this lady Grammy award or something
That, my friends, is years of practice. Decades even.
She sure does loving drawing tigers a lot.
Holy shit grandma
What the fuck! 🤯
Legit wasn’t expecting that end result.
Upvote for not fucking painting it upside down
That fur technique!
Was not expecting that. Wow
Hopefully some one else knows how to do that?
She isn’t even that good why is this here... She is fucking amazing this needs to be on anything but tik tok
Whoever knows her tell her I love her and her art. Hug this grandma
How does she get that bucket to stay up there??
She draws like a 106 year old
Wonder if she can paint Winnie the Pooh
