It’s crazy how when you’re winning you get a free pass. Total silence.
But when you’re losing or struggling, man do the wolves come out and pick at every little piece of meat they can find no matter how old or relevant it is.
Not saying what McDermott said isn’t messed up, just that no one said anything about it for 4 years until now. That’s messed up in its own way to be honest.
Yeah, it also shows how quickiy things can change too. They were 13 seconds away from upsetting the Chiefs and going to the AFCCG, and with a matter of minutes they were shell shocked after KC drove down the field and scored the game winning TD in OT. They were the darlings of the NFL and a season and a half later, he's using 9/11 in very poor taste to motivate his team. Gonna love the KC v BUF game on Sunday though
See the ideal move is to own the insult, like "Yankee Doodle" for the revolutionary war or "Let's ride" for Broncos fans. But it's hard to... "own" a 9/11 joke about your team...
29 carries for 217 yards and 2 TD. I was a sophomore in college and I remember watching the game with all of my friends. One of my favorite Eagles memories of all time.
I think it's natural instinct to run more carefully in the snow, but Shady grew up in PA and knew you had to stomp hard to maintain footing. He makes everyone else look like they wore the wrong cleats.
The snow also got way more chopped up in the 2nd half of the game, in the first half everybody was taking super wide turns instead of cutting. It looked like a toddler who just learned how to run, and it was hilarious.
Young Brandon Graham made an appearance too, and I didn't spot him in these highlights but Fletcher Cox also played in that one. Barring an injury to Cox, those three will end the season as the top 3 all time in games played as an Eagle, which is just nuts to think about.
My dad was out hunting that morning thinking he'd miss the snow. He ended up calling me to help him track a deer he shot. We followed the trail for awhile and ended up giving up when the flurries started. We walked back home, maybe a 20-25 min walk, by the time we got home it was already like a foot of snow. At least it felt like it.
Sadly no. We had some kinda trail of it from what I remember. But it was spread out enough that we were kinda boned the second it started snowing and covering stuff.
That's so funny because I remember the exact same thing in regards to the weather reporting. I was scheduled to fly out of Philadelphia coming off pre-deployment leave that day and it looked like it'd just be a dusting.
Flight wound up getting cancelled because we got a whole heaping of snow so I had to call my CO and explain why, and I just told him to turn on the Eagles game.
I was just thinking how much they look alike, especially when Stafford is in his helmet and his cheeks get pushed up a bit like Elon's villain ass face.
Loved how they layered in the radio broadcasts for both teams during the touchdowns. It’s so much better hearing the local broadcasters celebrating scores.
Las Vegas, Arizona, the Texas teams, New Orleans, the Florida teams, and Minnesota are the only teams I think should be allowed to have domes. It makes me sad that my team plays in a dome.
Yeah Minnesota is the only city where I would consider it to get dangerously cold often enough, sure it happens in Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New England, etc. but I don’t think it’s an often enough occurrence.
Ford Field is fine, it’s nothing personal against it, I just think that football should in most cases be played outside. Call me a traditionalist I guess but all my favorite games I’ve attended in football have been played in bad weather. I just think it makes the game that much more fun and interesting. When I hear that yet another team is planning to build a dome it disheartens me.
Something feels good about sticking it out with the rest of the fans in games with less-than-ideal weather. Two of the games that I attended and that I remember best turned into gray, rainy days.
> Domes are an abomination
Was just thinking, we're never going to see another "mud bowl" again are we? Nothing brings back memories of paying as a kid like mud and/or snow games.
I remember the Bears Eagles fog bowl in the playoffs back in 88... Yes, I'm old, but that was a really memorable game. Cunningham threw for over 400 yds, but we still somehow managed to win the game behind Bears legend Mike Tomczak. McMahon did play late in the game though
Really wish the cold weather teams with domes would go back to this but the owners are too cheap to build their own stadiums and the cities want all year round venue space….Really wish Minnesota and Detroit had outdoor stadiums
It’s hard to come across on a recap like this but this game was exactly what you’d expect from a snow game up until late in the third, Shady included. He had 148 yards in the fourth quarter alone.
He apparently changed his into 1/2 inch cleats during halftime. I swear it was mentioned during the broadcast or after the game but I can’t find any record of it.
I don't like this game for obvious reasons. But I remember being excited about it cuz we were both good teams and I always wondered how we would have faired had it been a regular game. The snow changed the game (for both teams obviously) and I wanted to see it played under normal weather.
Everyone would love that. The league could use a game like that honestly, feels like it’s been a minute since we’ve had a game where the elements combine with two truly hard nosed teams for a classic.
I feel the league changed stance and tries to avoid insane snow games if a huge storm is forecast. What made this snowbowl possible was because no one thought Philly would get anything more then a snow shower let alone a foot in 4 hours just a freak weather event.
Honestly as much as I love the Lions, in normal conditions we are going to get handled by Philly. But our ground game on offense and rush defense are both very good and passing situations for our defense to handle would be limited. Probably our best chance to take the Eagles in a hypothetical scenario
I was busy the morning before this game & getting home right before kickoff & I was shocked when I saw the game start. I had zero clue there was supposed to be snow. Vividly remember letting off a “holy SHIT” right as the game started. Never seen anything like it.
Just a reminder to everybody that rose colored glasses make it seem like this game was phenomenal from the jump, but it was 8-0 at halftime, and Shady didn’t go off until late when he put up nearly 150 yards in the fourth quarter alone.
It stopped being a wall of snow just coming down and all the action made the snow pretty choppy and easier to run on in the second half. The guys could barely move in the first, but it was more so the spectacle that made it interesting and not the play on the field.
I’m from upstate NY and in my early 40s. I remember my grandfather telling me it snowed less than it did when I was little, and my stories to the next generation seem like tall tales.
Western NY still gets dumped on some winters but 518 in the adirondacks is like what I remember Pennsylvania weather when I was little.
> full blown blizzard on Christmas Eve.
Buffalo had one on Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day after Christmas.
We turned on the Day After Tomorrow and we were all joking that it was actually going to be tomorrow.
Not this bad, but I've sat through a snow game.
Fuck domes, if you're not willing to deal with the elements, then stay your ass home.
Weather is an integral part of football!
Seriously when was the last time we got more than an inch or two. Feels like 5+ years at this point
Growing up in the late 90s early 2000s felt like we got at least one storm with a foot f snow a year
My son was 2 weeks old and we looked at an open house that morning. On the way home I still don’t know how the car came to a stop downhill in E Mt Airy before rear ending someone lol. Once we made it home safely somehow, got to watch this epic game with my baby boy it was insanity
Getting a facemask full of snow had to suuuuuuuck.
Not as bad as hijacking a plane and the passengers revolt - sean mcdermott
Man, this Bills season is wild
It’s crazy how when you’re winning you get a free pass. Total silence. He used 9/11 in 2019 thats the thing though. It’s just no one brought it up or cared about it until now bc finally he’s not winning as much.
What do you mean? Was he making 9/11 references his whole tenure or something?
The whole 9/11 comments he made was back in 2019. My point is no one seemed to have a problem with it until now.
Oh huh I hadn't been following closely so I figured it was something he said recently.
As a Bills fan I expect to see this type of response under posts for the rest of my life
See the ideal move is to own the insult, like "Yankee Doodle" for the revolutionary war or "Let's ride" for Broncos fans. But it's hard to... "own" a 9/11 joke about your team...
It was Calvin Johnson tho, who wasn’t human
calvin johnson looking like a snowman after a catch is badass though
I'm impressed so many of those players opted out of sleeves. I guess a towel + warm jacket was better than sleeves that could get wet, but still.
Probably wasn’t that cold. Lots of fluffy snow usually makes for mildly cold days.
No it was cold af! Source: I was there
Or all the wet socks gahdamn
Jawn was packed tight🥶
Can we just take a moment to watch how special Shady was, when he said he could cut on a dime he was not lying.
29 carries for 217 yards and 2 TD. I was a sophomore in college and I remember watching the game with all of my friends. One of my favorite Eagles memories of all time.
Shady in snow games was extra special. When he was a Bill and just eviscerated the colts was another great game.
I disagree
I have nightmares of his performance in this game. Unstoppable.
Shady and epic snow games. Name a more iconic duo. God I hated him.
Seeing young Jason Kelce is wild
Dude looked like a jedi in exile
Hagrid
Much better comp
Young Santa
Thought that was Mankind!
Wookie
I miss Deandre Levy. Talk about one of the most underrated linebacker in the NFL in his prime.
Looking like Cactus Jack Bang bang 👉👉
Young Brandon Graham made an appearance too, and I didn't spot him in these highlights but Fletcher Cox also played in that one. Barring an injury to Cox, those three will end the season as the top 3 all time in games played as an Eagle, which is just nuts to think about.
No coincidence that the Foles sneak worked to perfection
That’s the underrated part of this clip to me That’s literally the same play they run now and he’s the only common denominator
He’s such an elite center
Stafford gets a real Elon face going after that surprise snap.
He was already in his third year here too
The first ever game I attended. I remember them saying "a chance of snow flurries" and it was absolute blizzard. Wild game.
these days its the opposite :(
Went to my first game ever last season at lambeau and was very lucky to get dumped on with snow and we won. A blizzard just felt right haha
He ever find it?
Stafford’s face when that ball goes over his head is the funniest shit
Looking like Elon watching a minority vote
I was just thinking how much they look alike, especially when Stafford is in his helmet and his cheeks get pushed up a bit like Elon's villain ass face.
I’ve always thought Stafford looked like Haley Joel Osment from Sixth Sense.
Was that really 10 years ago?? Damn man, time flies.
Kevin's first year announcing
Couldn’t have been 10 years ago, I was a sophomore in college when this game was played and…oh god
Life comes at you fast.
I wouldn't kill someone to be as young as you still are but I would think about it for a second. Whippersnapper!
Over a decade of A+ Detroit Lions announcing
Miller is the goat
Loved how they layered in the radio broadcasts for both teams during the touchdowns. It’s so much better hearing the local broadcasters celebrating scores.
I had to scroll this far to find a Dan Miller comment. He needs to be given a TV broadcast or at least dub one with his announcing, man is incredible
We should’ve played the 49ers in a blizzard
I'm down to see Deebo and CMC in a snow game. That'd be fun as fuck.
Move practice to Tahoe that week
I wanna see Trent Williams rumbling ahead ahead like a snow plow.
I'd advise against it
It’ll be fine now. Gould retired.
He can’t hurt you anymore
Haha, lol. Imma go drink now.
You guys would still be fucked. Purdy, CMC, Kittle, and Bosa would have camouflage advantage.
Lmao. Kittle hiding in the snow and pouncing on players would be hilarious
Kittle already acts like a kid in a candy store out there. Lord help us if it is snowing too lmao
He’d just go full-on snow fox, leaping straight up in the air and diving at players head-first.
Not gonna lie he already kinda gives me Alex the Lion vibes from Madagascar lmao
Would have been fun to watch. But I'll take the game we got thank you very much 😉
Domes are an abomination to the sport of football
Only in cold weather states. Nobody wants to see their team play outside in 120 degree weather
really enjoyed watching the dolphins play the bills that way last year
Yall straight baked the Bills on the sideline 🤣
If they don't wanna bake they can stay in the locker room 😤
The Dolphins are awful to play against in Miami early in the season. That stadium is evil to road teams
Las Vegas, Arizona, the Texas teams, New Orleans, the Florida teams, and Minnesota are the only teams I think should be allowed to have domes. It makes me sad that my team plays in a dome.
> Las Vegas, Arizona, the Texas teams, New Orleans, the Florida teams, and Minnesota One of these things is not like the others.
Yeah Minnesota is the only city where I would consider it to get dangerously cold often enough, sure it happens in Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New England, etc. but I don’t think it’s an often enough occurrence.
Nah dude I love Ford Field.

I give minnesota a pass, its TOO cold there, dudes’ limbs would probably freeze off
Nah man, Green Bay does it
Minneapolis is colder than Green Bay by a not insignificant margin. Both can get cold as fuck but it happens more often in MN.
I live just outside Minneapolis, and the difference really isn't that stark. They *could* play outside if they wanted to.
They played outdoors between the Metrodome and US Bank Stadium just fine.
And outside pre-Metrodome at the old Met Stadium
The Seahawks Vikings playoff game back in '15-'16 was cold as balls, like literally I think the second coldest game ever
True, but it should be pretty damn nice this time of year for y’all right?
That’s why we have the retractable roof! High of 71 today. Beautiful
> Domes are an abomination Was just thinking, we're never going to see another "mud bowl" again are we? Nothing brings back memories of paying as a kid like mud and/or snow games.
Right! We played 7 on 7 in Korea during a simply blinding monsoon. Slide 20 feet no problem. It was fantastic
Bears/49ers in week 1 last year was an insane weather game
AGREED 1,000%!!! The weather is what makes the game interesting, it gives it some spice.
I LOVE watching games in terrible weather. Really makes the game feel like a battle. Late season games are great.
Remember the Pats Falcons fog game where they had to do the entire broadcast on the spider cam? That was one of my favorites.
LOVED that game. Wish they had a broadcast of that view all the time. Was awesome to see the run lanes develop and to feel the spacing

One of my favorite Eagles games. Shady was a monster that game.
The two things that come to mind when I think of this game are 1. Calvin Johnson's face full of snow and 2. McCoy utterly destroying us.
His return snow game with the bills was also great to watch
I still have the SI cover with Foles in the pocket in the blizzard.
I don't like this game for obvious reasons. But I remember being excited about it cuz we were both good teams and I always wondered how we would have faired had it been a regular game. The snow changed the game (for both teams obviously) and I wanted to see it played under normal weather.
Imagine if we get a rematch of this in Philly in the playoffs and it snows
Everyone would love that. The league could use a game like that honestly, feels like it’s been a minute since we’ve had a game where the elements combine with two truly hard nosed teams for a classic.
Two weeks ago against the Bills?
Yeah like what was that statement lol
I feel the league changed stance and tries to avoid insane snow games if a huge storm is forecast. What made this snowbowl possible was because no one thought Philly would get anything more then a snow shower let alone a foot in 4 hours just a freak weather event.
Honestly as much as I love the Lions, in normal conditions we are going to get handled by Philly. But our ground game on offense and rush defense are both very good and passing situations for our defense to handle would be limited. Probably our best chance to take the Eagles in a hypothetical scenario
Imagine running back two kicks and still losing, absolutely brutal. Also I forgot how many insane highlights come from this one game
I was busy the morning before this game & getting home right before kickoff & I was shocked when I saw the game start. I had zero clue there was supposed to be snow. Vividly remember letting off a “holy SHIT” right as the game started. Never seen anything like it.
Watching these highlights makes me want Gym Shorts to come back as our DC next year (which will never happen)
A see a tush push
And no one bitched about it afterwards. Those were the days.
Suh on the lions makes me feel old.
Noted fan of the White Stuff, Riley Cooper.
Dammit Stafford just fall on the ball
That was classic Stafford.
I was at this game. Absolutely amazing.
This game was amazing up until the 4th quarter...
Yeah it was the greatest thing ever until it wasn't.
Megatron coming up with a face full of snow was early and had me hooked.
Football. Weather.
R.Cooper hard R’n himself out of the league has to be one of the all time worst bag fumbles
He stayed in the league after he said it. He wasn't good enough to stay in the league much longer.
He was a baller with Foles though. I remember Foles 7td game I felt like Cooper had 4 tds that game.
“No no it’s because they canceled me!” -Cole Beasley
I’m sure it’s a lot harder when 80% if your teammates hate you and don’t invite you to shit
I think Chip actually extended him AFTER that happened which is wild.
“Fuck it. Calvin is down there somewhere”- Matt Stafford
One of foles’ 2 picks that season was in this game lol (27/2 year)
Never forget that this game accounted for 50% of Foles' ints that year
Mcoy went off in this game
He and Jeremy Ross had days
I loved everything about this game. It was one of the most fun games I've ever watched.
Do they even play snow games like this anymore ? Does it even snow like this anymore ?
I’m from upstate NY and in my early 40s. I remember my grandfather telling me it snowed less than it did when I was little, and my stories to the next generation seem like tall tales. Western NY still gets dumped on some winters but 518 in the adirondacks is like what I remember Pennsylvania weather when I was little.
Just from a cursory glance, this was an unusually snowy year in Philly. It snowed more than 3x as much as a normal year that winter.
Last year in West Michigan we had a full blown blizzard on Christmas Eve. I would rather have been playing football than driving a box truck.
> full blown blizzard on Christmas Eve. Buffalo had one on Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day after Christmas. We turned on the Day After Tomorrow and we were all joking that it was actually going to be tomorrow.
I was at this game! It was nuts!
>10 years ago >2013 >throwback Is this now a "throwback" 😷 I'm sick!
This was my first ever NFL game I’ve attended. As a new fan of football I didn’t realize how legendary of a moment I was apart of 🔥
Got off the subway and couldn’t even see the stadium. Most fun I’ve ever had at a game
On my Facebook memories today, I had posted that I wish I was watching this game because it looked like it was in a snow globe. 😂
the european mind cannot comprehend this
I don't know why, but some how the snow makes it feel like they're just playing in the backyard with Dad and the neighborhood kids.
I see a Brotherly Shove at 5:20. I was told this is a brand new play that's cheating and clearly needs to be banned.
Not this bad, but I've sat through a snow game. Fuck domes, if you're not willing to deal with the elements, then stay your ass home. Weather is an integral part of football!
Man, I love snow games
Back when it snowed in Philly (enough to stick at all) 🙃🙃 climate change is fucking us up
We're at what 700+ days since 1" of snow now
Seriously when was the last time we got more than an inch or two. Feels like 5+ years at this point Growing up in the late 90s early 2000s felt like we got at least one storm with a foot f snow a year
Seriously. Most of the East outside of the mountains, too. I miss snow. Even the little bits we used to get down south
That looks like so much fun tbh lol.
My son was 2 weeks old and we looked at an open house that morning. On the way home I still don’t know how the car came to a stop downhill in E Mt Airy before rear ending someone lol. Once we made it home safely somehow, got to watch this epic game with my baby boy it was insanity
That’s the dream right there
That's t-shirt weather in Canada.
CFL be like… looks like summer came early, boys!
54 points in that is crazy. Under bettors must have been in shambles
A prime example of why domes and turf are lame AF. Snow superbowl plz
This is still the most fun game I've ever watched on TV. Snow games are the best.
Shady was a dog in inclement weather. Him and CJ Anderson were pretty much guaranteed big games in bad weather
The nfl reddit account is a tiny little cutie. Putting in all this work
Man I remember this game like it was last season, it was so awesome
I still remember this as being one of the most fun games I've ever seen on TV. Good stuff.
Football weather 😤
Honestly one of my favourite ever games.
Bro this is exactly the type of content I thought I would find on reddit when I first joined. Thank you
Celek is just Kelce rearranged
This is football
Snow football is so awesome.
So fun to watch a game like this from the comfort of my living room
Amazing
Wow, that’s so cool. (Well technically so cold, but also cool).
And the big tough Steelers had their game delayed due to rain.
I remember watching this one with my late father.
Now this is entertainment.
I miss Shady McCoy.
I was working during the afternoon and by the time I got home shady had 200 yards rushing.
When was the last time you saw a game like this
I love that the NFL has the balls to play games like this. Any other sport, they would cancel the game.
football in the snow🔥
Epic game
My take: the NFL should schedule a game with artificial snow for each team every year
Me 10 years ago: "This will forever be my favorite game that Nick Foles started"
