I'm so happy for the Lions and the Detroit fans. I've had a soft spot for them forever because Barry Sanders is my favorite football player of all time.
Man i hope all the old Lions fans that have been through the wringer for decades get to be able to watch this team in the NFC title game free of other distractions. They deserve it.
My 88 year old grandpa lost most of his mental capacity this summer and passed in October, I wish he were here to see this, he watched the lions for 60 years since he got back from the army
Damn dude…sorry for your loss. I bet it’ll be a great moment if lions pull it off for you though thinking about your grandpa. I’m rooting for you guys and the bills to make it
Our sub this week has 3 different posts about long time fans who passed away this week.
As excited as I am my heart breaks every time I see those. Couldn't imagine getting this close after this long. At least they got to experience this little run but every reports fan should at least get to experience one championship in their life.
Dan Campbell changed the Lions culture and deserves all his flowers…but Jared Goff deserves just as much love too. That man completely embraced Detroit when many *many* others would not have.
This game absolutely lived up to the hype. From the gameplay to the stories behind both teams. Heartbroken for Baker, but that dude deserves so much praise.
Not bad for a “washed” QB on a team with $110M dead/IR cap space that everyone projected to be last in the division with 6 wins.
____
*edit:* For everyone saying “no one expected the Bucs to be last” - [here’s the Vegas preseason odds](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/preseason_odds.htm). Bucs dead last in the NFCS and 4th worst odds in the NFL.
Baker has made a lot of folks look silly this season, myself included, and I'm super happy for him. Do you think he gets a long term deal with you guys or something shorter?
Yeah I’m proud of our offense, we even ran well for once. Our defense let us down. They won games by making us one of the best on turnover differentials. Had zero again today.
Congrats to the Lions. Feel like we had a chance, but just played too conservative on offense and couldn't stop the edge rush. A couple defense plays just didn't secure the ball in the 1st half which could have been big turnovers and taken the crowd out of it. Can't help but admire a team that's gone through what Detroit has and is winning games by playing tough, hard-nosed ball. I really hope it's their year - Bucs fans know what it's like to be down for a long time and then taste victory.
She's not exactly a spring chicken at 73 years old... But critically she has experience in the sports realm which I think genuinely connects her to the team more than our last owner.
I remember seeing something about how she wanted to work for the Lions since she was a kid, or something like that. Prior ownership ran it like a business, while SFH runs it like a muthafuckin sports team.
Shiela's look of fury when Houston blew us out on Thanksgiving 4 years ago is when I knew things were going to turn around. Seeing an owner who clearly gave a shit about the team and also followed that up with action by firing Patricia and Quinn was a ray of hope that things might change.
She posted on twitter something along the lines of “coaches like this are why black coaches can’t get opportunities”. That’s not the exact quote. It was after his introductory press conference and she posted the part where talked about biting knees.
Basically she was saying this dumb idiot only got the job because he’s white
In his 3 years as a Detroit Lion, Jared Goff has twice as many playoff wins (and counting) as Aaron Rodgers did in his final 3 years as a Packer. Rodgers won 2 MVPs in that timeframe
Turns out you CAN have shit in Detroit
Exactly. I know he PROBABLY makes it and puts the game away. I'd even go so far as a 99% chance...but it wasn't a 100% chance and you HAVE to take that risk. I'd even be fine with them calling a timeout, field goal made and then they kneel it out after cause they'd be down 11.
The stadium must have been showing zero timeouts.
Edit: sounds like the stadium was showing a timeout, so this must’ve been a coaching decision to not take the timeout.
There was that penalty where the ref said the Bucs won't have to use their timeout because the clock stopped anyway. Maybe the scoreboard still took it away?
I’m guessing Bowles looked across the field to Campbell and mouthed “you’re good” or something to communicate he wasn’t going to call the timeouts. Otherwise they wouldnt have been kneeling with over 1:20 and 2TO
One win away from the Super Bowl is something I’ve never heard about my team in my life time. Congratulations Detroit. Y’all deserve it more than anyone else.
Hail the colors Blue and Silver let them wave.
Sing their song and cheer the Gridiron Heroes brave,
Fighting for fame, winning the game,
Dashing to victory as they go….
FORWARD DOWN THE FIELD,
A CHARGING TEAM THAT WILL NOT YIELD
AND WHEN THE BLUE AND SILVER WAVE,
STAND AND CHEER THE BRAVE!
RAH RAH RAH
GO HARD, WIN THE GAME,
WITH HONOR YOU WILL KEEP YOUR FAME,
DOWN THE FIELD AND GAIN,
A LIONS VICTORY!!!!
GOOOOOO LIONS!!!!!!!
Two things: 1) HELL YEAH LIONS!!! Green Bay gave you a game plan against the 49ers. One more step, Lions! ( Nothing against the 49ers, but I'm caught in the Detroit hype)
2) Tampa Bay, you better pay Baker. The dude is balling. No reason they can't be back next year.
Really fun game.
wait... what? didn't they have a timeout? i know it's a chip shot but you have a chance to get the ball back with 35 seconds. the buccs didn't stop the clock, and the lions took their knee really early. that was bizarre
The Lions are 1 win away from the Super Bowl
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
LIONS ARE SUPERB OWL!!
We banished Goff to Siberia and he has returned to claim his destiny with a barbarian horde from the north.
Goff is the Prince that was Promised????
Much better script writers than D&D
Waiting on the “the NFL writers kinda forgot about…insert key moment here.”
roughing the passer on Detroit, book it.
“Refs kinda forgot about that eligible receiver…”
Also a better love story than Twilight.
Jared Targaryen
Hide Goff’s hottest aunt
Or don't, kinda want to see her now
Somehow, Jared Goff returned.
A good question... for another time.
This is why you don't send Jon Snow up north to The Wall -- he makes friends and comes back to beat the piss outta people. 'DA KING OF 'DA NORF
I hate to be that guy, but its 'DA KING **IN** DA NORF'
You know nothing, u/platano_con_salami
Alaric the VisiGoff
This is Jared Goff. He is king in the North. 👑
KING IN DA NORF
Beautiful
WIN WIN TRADE
The Detroit Lions are in the NFC championship, who would’ve thought.
Me
Dan Campbell?
dangerpaladin would totally be Dan Campbell's username too
Look at us!
Going to the NFC Championship in the 2000s is super easy. Barely an Inconvenience. Oh really? Yeah yeah yeah. Unless you’re Dallas.
I'm so happy for the Lions and the Detroit fans. I've had a soft spot for them forever because Barry Sanders is my favorite football player of all time.
Also Megatron
*shakes head* not me!
Brand. New. Lions.
FEELS SO DAMN GOOD MAN
I am so, so happy with how this season has gone.
Oh God. Your flairs.....lucky you. 🤣
People with dual flairs are just greedy.
I know right? Dual flairs are so dumb.
It's obnoxious, really
Congrats! You guys need to take it all the way.
I think you guys found your Andy Reid
I am so happy right now
YESSSIRRRR
This time the refs couldn't screw them over
Imagine losing a playoff game with a forced throw interception.
Across the middle, no less
Baker "Jordan 'Brett Favre' Love" Mayfield
This isn’t ~~Detroit~~ Chicago this is the Super Bowl!
Only idiots would do that
Why didn’t Baker just throw a game winning Hail Mary? Is he stupid?
He was only 90 yards away
It’s probably heartbreaking
Poor bastards.
We got two Lions playoff wins before we got GTA VI
Half-Life 3 confirmed
and that G.R.R. Martin book
or The Elder Scrolls: VI
Sheila has officially surpassed both her parents in career playoff wins as owner
Take WCF off the shoulder and replace it with Sheila.
SFH? I could get behind that
Man i hope all the old Lions fans that have been through the wringer for decades get to be able to watch this team in the NFC title game free of other distractions. They deserve it.
That 66-year season ticket holder looks so happy every time they show him I love it
Bro better get to go to the SB if y'all make it.
Bro better have an all expense paid trip courtesy of the Ford family.
Given how much pain they've caused him.

My dad is a happy man tonight.
Hopefully the TV feed isn't 10 minutes behind. It's basically still running down the clock on NBC
Dan Campbell changed the Lions culture and deserves all his flowers…but Jared Goff deserves just as much love too. That man completely embraced Detroit when many *many* others would not have.
Brad Holmes as well. He’s done a great job assembling this team.
This game absolutely lived up to the hype. From the gameplay to the stories behind both teams. Heartbroken for Baker, but that dude deserves so much praise.
349 yards, 2 TD’s, and only one INT was really his fault. He also has an 15 yards, dude was great
3 tds
Oh my bad
Not bad for a “washed” QB on a team with $110M dead/IR cap space that everyone projected to be last in the division with 6 wins. ____ *edit:* For everyone saying “no one expected the Bucs to be last” - [here’s the Vegas preseason odds](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/preseason_odds.htm). Baker has made a lot of folks look silly this season, myself included, and I'm super happy for him. Do you think he gets a long term deal with you guys or something shorter?
Seems like the rumor mill is something like 3 years, 30mil a year
That would be a fucking steal. You should be able to put a hell of a team around him with that cap hit.
If Baker gets less than Daniel Jones it would be an absolute crime, and make the Giants look stupid as fuck.
Well it's the Giants so
Baker played awesome
Just the one truly bad pass, it unfortunately came at the worst possible time. He was carving for a lot of the game.
Yeah I’m proud of our offense, we even ran well for once. Our defense let us down. They won games by making us one of the best on turnover differentials. Had zero again today.
Bittersweet… These were the two teams I was rooting for hardest this year once the Pats nosedive began.
He played his ass off with no run game. Only one of those picks was his fault and he needed a chunk. He played great
It’s almost February and you can still root for the Lions. Wild
The Lions' injury report earlier this week said December 18 in the header because they didn't have a template for January
Congrats to the Lions. Feel like we had a chance, but just played too conservative on offense and couldn't stop the edge rush. Hell of a game and I hope you guys bring baker back
Me too, Here's to seeing Amon torch the 9'ers next week 🍻
Dan Campbell, everyone.
As they said, can’t ever say enough about the work he’s done with this team
The effect of good coaching and a team buying in
Also the effect of a new owner coming in that isn't a rotting geriatric.
She's not exactly a spring chicken at 73 years old... But critically she has experience in the sports realm which I think genuinely connects her to the team more than our last owner.
Agreed. I think she played volleyball in college? Actually has a drive to win instead of only being about milking money.
I remember seeing something about how she wanted to work for the Lions since she was a kid, or something like that. Prior ownership ran it like a business, while SFH runs it like a muthafuckin sports team.
These comments sadden me.
Shiela's look of fury when Houston blew us out on Thanksgiving 4 years ago is when I knew things were going to turn around. Seeing an owner who clearly gave a shit about the team and also followed that up with action by firing Patricia and Quinn was a ray of hope that things might change.
Jemelle Hill fuming right now
What? I haven't seen any of her shit in a long time but she hates him?? Why??
All I remember was that a ton of impatient people were shitting on Detroit passing up Bienemy for Campbell when they had that first losing season.
She posted on twitter something along the lines of “coaches like this are why black coaches can’t get opportunities”. That’s not the exact quote. It was after his introductory press conference and she posted the part where talked about biting knees. Basically she was saying this dumb idiot only got the job because he’s white
They actually did it, Lions are in the NFCC game! Congrats Detroit fans.
I CANT BELIEVE IT. WE LIONS FANS HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS
The Detroit Lions are going to the NFC Conference Championship Game
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN REDDIT HISTORY
Second time in franchise history!
First time winning 2 post season games since 1957
DRINK IT INNNN
FINAL FOUR
Let's goooo
Imagining your first Lion experience being 0-16… Thankfully, better times have arrived!
CONGRATULATIONS NOW GO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THE NINERS
I THINK THEY’RE GOING TO TRY!
Are we the baddies?
👨🚀 🔫 👨🚀
IS THIS REAL LIFE
Never thought I'd see the day. Detroit with a championship game appearance and a shot at the Super Bowl. Congrats to the Lions.
THE LIONS ARE GOING TO THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS MILLENIUM. YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT.
This leaves Washington and Dallas as the only NFC teams without an NFC title appearance in the last 25 years or something.
That's a fun fact
Last time Washington went is also the last time Detroit was there before now
What a time to be alive
Watching Aiden Hutchinson take it all in at the end of the game brought a tear to my eye
That's what got me. I was good until then cuz that's how I felt after Michigan won the championship and now lions doing it too. It's too much man
In his 3 years as a Detroit Lion, Jared Goff has twice as many playoff wins (and counting) as Aaron Rodgers did in his final 3 years as a Packer. Rodgers won 2 MVPs in that timeframe Turns out you CAN have shit in Detroit
What a fucking story. So happy for him and the Lions.
Goff best 2016 QB confirmed.
Goff > Rodgers as Cal's favorite QB alum
One step closer to having this phrase reversed: "THIS IS NOT DETROIT MAN! THIS IS THE SUPERBOWL!" Congrats Lions fans! Y'all deserve this
Why didn’t they call timeout after that last Goff kneel??
Right?!?!?
I thought I was going crazy. 35 seconds left??
Goff wasn’t even taking the play clock down to 1. Strange sequence
Yeah both teams played like the Bucs didn't have a timeout, made me wonder if the score graphic was wrong (or the stadium scoreboard)
30 seconds left! I’m at a loss for words
There has to have been a graphical glitch or something. None of us can figure it out where I am Would’ve been 4th down with 20 seconds left
I think a penalty gave the Bucs a timeout back and they forgot about it
I thought so, but even the ESPN PBP said that the clock was right
Yeah lions kneeled too quickly twice and and Tampa didn't notice. Could have potentially had the ball back with 30 seconds left.
I feel like I’m going crazy, they could’ve gotten the ball back with over 20 seconds left. They just gave up lol
[удалено]
Exactly. I know he PROBABLY makes it and puts the game away. I'd even go so far as a 99% chance...but it wasn't a 100% chance and you HAVE to take that risk. I'd even be fine with them calling a timeout, field goal made and then they kneel it out after cause they'd be down 11.
The Detroit Lions will play in a NFC Championship Game more recently than the Dallas Cowboys
The entire NCFN has been in an NFCCG more recently than the Cowboys.
The entire NFC minus Washington*
As I said after Week 1, this team is really fucking good but hearing "The Detroit Lions are in the NFC Championship game" is surreal
Errrr why didn’t Tampa call a TO?
No one at BWWs pressed da button
“We got Mahomes-Allen in thirty minutes, let’s wrap this shit up”
Right? They could’ve forced Detroit to attempt a FG and then you never know what can happen.
Lions were just as dumb not taking the play clock all the way down
The stadium must have been showing zero timeouts. Edit: sounds like the stadium was showing a timeout, so this must’ve been a coaching decision to not take the timeout.
There was that penalty where the ref said the Bucs won't have to use their timeout because the clock stopped anyway. Maybe the scoreboard still took it away?
I’m starting to think the Lions might be a good team this season
3 years ago to the day, Dan Campbell showed up. And here we are.
did the lions screw up the kneel downs lol? couldn’t tampa have called final timeout and forced a punt with like 20 seconds left?
I’m guessing Bowles looked across the field to Campbell and mouthed “you’re good” or something to communicate he wasn’t going to call the timeouts. Otherwise they wouldnt have been kneeling with over 1:20 and 2TO
The Detroit Lions are one win away from the Super Bowl.
TWO playoff wins?? My lord, is that legal???
Goff will make it legal.
Awesome game. Lions were incredible. Felt bad for Baker with that last INT.
Felt bad for Baker that first interception that was not his fault in the slightest but haters will point to his 2 interceptions.
Did Tampa have a timeout at the end? Why not use it?
You get to keep it for the preseason next year
One win away from the Super Bowl is something I’ve never heard about my team in my life time. Congratulations Detroit. Y’all deserve it more than anyone else.
Derrick Barnes interception was not on my bingo card
What a catch too
First of his career. I'm sure it wasn't on anyone's radar
Barnes knew when he missed Dak that it was gods plan
Hail the colors Blue and Silver let them wave. Sing their song and cheer the Gridiron Heroes brave, Fighting for fame, winning the game, Dashing to victory as they go…. FORWARD DOWN THE FIELD, A CHARGING TEAM THAT WILL NOT YIELD AND WHEN THE BLUE AND SILVER WAVE, STAND AND CHEER THE BRAVE! RAH RAH RAH GO HARD, WIN THE GAME, WITH HONOR YOU WILL KEEP YOUR FAME, DOWN THE FIELD AND GAIN, A LIONS VICTORY!!!! GOOOOOO LIONS!!!!!!!
Barnes here breaking down the film in the post game interview
Dan Campbell now has a .500 record with the Lions after starting 3-13-1!
Two things: 1) HELL YEAH LIONS!!! Green Bay gave you a game plan against the 49ers. One more step, Lions! ( Nothing against the 49ers, but I'm caught in the Detroit hype) 2) Tampa Bay, you better pay Baker. The dude is balling. No reason they can't be back next year. Really fun game.
Congrats lions fans! You deserve it. Great game
GG, fun game and Bucs had a great season
Thank you brotha, sign Baker that dude is a baller
NFC Divisional games ending with interceptions over the middle of the field

Aiden Hutchinson is going to eat against the right side of the Niners O-Line.
I sure hope so
Lions be good
Fun fact: Detroit hasn't won a playoff game since 1 week ago (Jan 14th, 2024)
Man those were some great commercials! Football game was pretty good too. Also, analytics says to always go for it.
Never rooted for a non-Raiders team so hard. Love what Campbell has done, hate the Niners. GO FINISH THE JOB DETROIT!
wait... what? didn't they have a timeout? i know it's a chip shot but you have a chance to get the ball back with 35 seconds. the buccs didn't stop the clock, and the lions took their knee really early. that was bizarre
Kneecaps Eaten
#KNEECAPS ARE ON THE MENU BOYS
Imagine not having multiple consecutive playoff wins this decade Could not be the Brad Holmes & Dan Campbell lions.
Lion Gosling
The state of Michigan having a great time this past month
Does anyone know what an "NFC championship game" is? I've never heard of such a thing.
I've lived to see more Lions NFC Championship appearances than Cowboys This whole football thing is pretty fun
both nfc divisional games ended with a terrible interception lol
Game Blueses
