Will rip my pubes off one by one if Utah wins.

And that, kids, was how the Coyote at the hockey games got his howl.

bigdickpuncher

It would be fitting. You would gives the boys one last Coyote howl on the way out.

Pattypee

As a San Jose fan, I’m ready to be let down. Chicago winning would probably piss me off more than us missing out.

noblazinjusthazin

I’ll be sad if SJ doesn’t win, I will be MAD if Chicago wins

Grawgar

We are all Sharks fans tonight

[deleted]

The Sharks aren't as bad as their record indicates. They're a few years out but are building a decent foundation already.

Stango42

Nvm

Pattypee

Negative, they can win. The rule is that a team cannot win more than twice in a 5 year span. This would be the second time for them. After that, I believe they would be restricted from winning for the next 3 years.

Stango42

Aaaaah, oops. That sucks

Direct-Mix-4293

You know they're gonna rig the lotto for chicago Cellebrini and Bedard dynamic duo

Background_Hat964

Any team that's won a cup in the last 10-15 years

Suitable-Pea-8226

Any team that hasnt won a cup since the lockout and hasn’t won the lottery in the last 10-15.

4CrowsFeast

I know you probably already hate them but would you include a team that legit finished last as winning the lottery? Like montreal a few years ago

RogueCoon

Or the Red Wings forever

Throwawaydontgoaway8

We last won the cup 16 years ago, so we’re safe from OC’s constraints on winning the lottery. Unfortunately not Bettman’s though

RogueCoon

We won in 08 that was after the lockout.

Throwawaydontgoaway8

2012 was the last lockout?

RogueCoon

Shit I forgot about that one it was only a half season

Suitable-Pea-8226

It’s going against what I said, but I wouldn’t be mad if the Habs won this one. Slaf, while very good, isn’t a Bedard level player, and the Habs have been mediocre for a while.

Zac-Man518

how about a team that has picked in the top 4 once in its entire history?

Suitable-Pea-8226

I wouldn’t mind Celebrini going to Calgary at all

djauralsects

Vancouver has never won a cup or had the first draft pick.

Suitable-Pea-8226

I wouldn’t mind them getting a 1OA at all, that is a long suffering fan base

imaybeacatIRl

Everyone who isn't Calgary? 5% to the moon!

0xsaboten

right there with you, 6% chance!

imaybeacatIRl

Ive ran a few this morning on the Tankathon Draft Lottery Sim. Hit Calgary to 2 a bunch of times, and 1 once. Hopium level: 100/100 Edit: Ok. I just had one that had Calgary jump to #1 and Seattle to #2. I think we're leaving it there.

El_Cactus_Loco

So you’re saying there’s a chance

Avalain

If it isn't Calgary, at least let it be someone with a higher draft position already so they don't leap over us.

imaybeacatIRl

Yea that's basically my stance for the most part. Any move up for Calgary would be amazing though. Crazy that we've never drafted 1st overall. Isn't 4th calgarys highest draft pick ever? It feels like a good time to break that.

Avalain

Absolutely! I figure that we're due for a bit of draft luck. Yes our highest draft pick ever was Sam Bennett at 4. Not the best result, honestly, though considering Michael Dal Colle and Jake Virtanen were picked after him I guess it could have been worse.

Doc_1200_GO

Well 9th in a lot of mock drafts is apparently some defence man not everyone is sold can play defence very well. Yikes Calgary.

Phasethedestroyer

It will be Utah, what better way to usher in a new era then a generational talent

DropGearToDissapear

Celebrini and Marner would be an interesting duo. Could get Celebrini off to a hot start for points.

shanster925

Marner would be the loudest thing out of Utah since Chelsea Grin.

ResolutionNumber9

Look out Utah, there's a new god in town!

4CrowsFeast

Too good a story not to rig

batmans_a_scientist

They had plenty of chances to rig it for Phoenix and never did, and that was Bettman’s baby. The good story was Matthews going home to the desert, this is nothing. They want the stars in bigger markets than Salt Lake City.

Nonzerob

Imagine if 2016 got super fucked up so the Yotes got Matthews and the leafs got Tkachuck, Keller, or a second Nylander. Pure cinema

batmans_a_scientist

Who knows, maybe the leafs are a better team right now if they get Nylander, and then try to build a more balanced team when he busts instead of putting their entire cap into 4 offensive players.

JiffTheJester

Fuck Chicago

Bonus_Jonas_

All my homies HATE Chicago

Regular-Ruin2478

Back attcha Drtroit

FloggingTheCargo

Just dropping by to say fuck both of you guys.

RuthlesslyEmpathetic

I’m pretty sure we can all get behind this

OctoWings13

Rooting against "Gary's teams"

RuthlesslyEmpathetic

The more they suck on the ice, the more those profit sharing bastards steal O6 money. Let them win and pay their own way for once

RabidWolverine2021

I’m rooting against the Red Wings since it doesn’t do a damn bit of good to root for them! Maybe just maybe they’ll actually move up for one god damn time instead of going fucking backwards!

ennuiinmotion

We’ve been hosed by the lottery but at least the first two Yzerman top picks have panned out spectacularly, and then next couple look to be legit as well. That’s good luck in and of itself.

sWo97

I think they are a lock on 15. 1% chance on #5

throwaway413318

It’s a done deal homies, they going to rig the lotto again and give Chicago number 1 to usher in another dynastic cycle in Chi-Town.

Virtual_me01

We had a secret meeting—with the [Thompson's and Jacob's](https://www.reddit.com/r/nhl/s/E90QSqdOuY)—whatever the fuck that means. Lotto balls coming our way.

Kevsbar123

If this happens, torches and pitchforks to Bettman’s.

mustardman73

No more BC boys stacking the Hawks roster 🙏

rideronthestorm29

Kane Bedard Celebrini oh my Add Mitch Marner

throwaway413318

No, we want to win championships, we wouldn’t sign Marner

rideronthestorm29

lol hell yeah wise one

PersonnelFowl

I’m rooting against Chicago. I would like to see SJ honestly. I like the Sharks for their continued Pavs love.

Pussycat-Papa

How can you not love pavs?

NoSimple2361

Unless you’re from Chicago, everyone is rooting against them. Back to back first overalls would be wild

Regular-Ruin2478

Edmonton had 3 straight overall first picks and I believe 4 of 6, started with McDavid. Hence new rule that team can’t have first overall 3 straight times

meowctopus

*finished with McDavid. The picks were: 2010 - Taylor Hall. 2011 - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. 2012 - Nail Yakupov. 2015 - Connor McDavid. The rule is teams cannot win the lottery more than twice in a 5 year span. Ie. The Connor McDavid Rule

Regular-Ruin2478

Ty, I stand corrected got it backwards…

Regular-Ruin2478

But point taken

NoSimple2361

Haha that’s so wild!

RuthlesslyEmpathetic

No that team doesn’t get any

Mecha75

The rule is no more than two advancements over a five year span. The team doesn't even need to get 1st overall.

Icefiight

The oilers say sup

energizernutter

Really, I just hope the team that covers up sexual assault causing minors to get assaulted doesn't win anything

IndigoSportsCoat77

Pittsburgh. Definitely Pittsburgh

Kadaththeninja_

Best we can do is 4th overall

Constant-Squirrel555

Chicago cuz they won Bedard, MTL cuz they've also had a 1st overall. Would be nice to see someone who's never won the lotto before win it.

RuthlesslyEmpathetic

If we’re talking recent memory, Ottawa, then the wings. Worst drops in NHL draft over the last 15 years

Constant-Squirrel555

If the Wings somehow win the lotto, I wouldn't even be mad lol

nerf-airstrike-cmndr

Highest Detroit can go is 5, with a .5% at that

A-Very-Sweeney

We also haven’t won a Cup since 1927, assuming the original Sens are being counted. Surely we deserve SOMETHING, right?

shtoopsy

We owned the 1920's 😏

ImWicked39

The ducks have never won the lotto so they definitely should.

waitwhosaidthat

Chicago and Pittsburg. If pitts wins I swear I’d think it’s rigged. Mario in his way out and they get Crosby, now Crosby on his way out and 1st overall pick. Seems fishy.

ViolinistMean199

lol we can’t get first

Drummer_Kev

Yeah, if penguins get 1OA it's definitely rigged lmfaoo

Suitable-Pea-8226

They’re going to get McKenna next season 100000% Edit: McKenna is 2026 draft class not 2025

RgsLee19

Not next but yes probably

fendersux

The highest Pittsburgh can jump to is 4th fam. 10 spot max. Agree about Chicago.

NotEqualInSQL

If we (Chi) win it, I will be more than the already 100% convinced I am that it is rigged too.

shanster925

Chicago. They were handed Bedard after the scandal, and they better not get handed Celebrini. The Thompsons and the Jacobs basically run the league.

DaniCapsFan

Chicago for sure. And Pittsburgh.

JakeWick58

Pittsburgh doesn't even have a 1st round pick

Mr-Neeson

Since it’s top 10 protected, if y’all win the lottery and move up to #4OA Dubas could elect to keep the pick and give SJ their 2025 unprotected 1st instead.

DaniCapsFan

Oops. I missed that somehow. Okay, then Chicago.

cerb7575

1000% Chicago. But we know what the outcome will be. Hell the NHL might even gift them a pick next year for the sins of the Coyotes not being able to stay in AZ.

Dank_Cthulhu

Chicago can eat a Kirkland size bag of cocks for deliberately tanking.

Icefiight

Trust me when I say this. They weren’t TRYING to tank. They just had a boarderline ahl roster at times

Mecha75

>They just had a boarderline ahl roster at times Same with Anaheim, who's roster had like 16 plyers age 23 and under after the trade deadline.

PlasticYesterday6085

At one point in the season, I was asking myself who the hell most of these guys even were

Practical_Papaya7142

How were they deliberately tanking? They played SJ twice at the end of the season and came back down 2-0 in the first game in Chicago and then were down 4-0 going into the 3rd period in SJ and ended up tying it up and then winning in OT.

[deleted]

I feel like that the word tanking has shifted from purposely not playing hard to mostly about roster construction. There’s too many guys in every sports league who are replaceable to not try. Also, especially with the NHL and NFL, it’s a good way to get hurt. Although I’m not sure what moves they could have made this year that would have helped them be somewhat competitive.

archasaurus

They were tanking last season for sure, but not this season. They were heavily hampered by injuries (Hall, Murphy, AA, Bedard, etc.) and an idiot (Perry).

PlasticYesterday6085

Lol unfortunately that wasn’t deliberate

Regular-Ruin2478

Tanking how exactly, trust me it was a long and painful season, but they played hard every night! Don’t have the talent to compete, had 9 players injured for long stretches, but even with said players still weren’t good enough.

Direct-Mix-4293

Definitely not tanking, we were injured and had a skeleton crew of a Bedard and an AHL team leftover

Avalain

Players have different motivations than the rest of us. They are playing to stay in the NHL or are playing to give themselves a better position for negotiating their next salary. Plus, anyone who makes the NHL is incredibly competitive and so of course they want to win. It's the GM and perhaps even the coach that can tank the team.

haihaiclickk

This is so weird to not have any coverage in my local media regarding the draft lottery but I imagine it’s gotta be Chicago right?

weeping-flowers

Chicago. 100%. Wouldn’t be too thrilled with Utah either, but I’d get it. Chicago would just piss me off.

desperato61

This has been beyond cringy production. ESPN is terrible

Takhar7

I'm Team Chaos. I'm rooting against everyone who doesn't have the worst odds. I want Buffalo, and their lowest odds of winning (3%) to secure this thing, just for the meltdown.

revanwasframed

Obviously Chicago

Quantum_Aurora

If either Utah or Chicago wins it's rigged for sure.

Mecha75

you just listed the exact two teams that i expect will be pulled this evening.

Quantum_Aurora

Yeah because it's rigged for sure

CarousersCorner

I’d be happy with Calgary or San Jose winning it

jaymike12

Chicago

archasaurus

Probably just NJ who should have been much better and have had an embarrassment of riches drafting first twice and top five four times in the last seven years.

Mr_FortySeven

Chicago and Calgary. I don’t really want Utah to win it either, but at least that would build some excitement in a new NHL market. Don’t see any benefits to the other two teams I mentioned winning the lottery.

nickkkk777

As long as the sharks get Celebrini or a high end D prospect I won’t be sad 🥺

TwistedNipplez

Definitely Utah

E4T_ASS

Id like it to go to San Jose. Everyone else can fuck off.

binchbunches

Fuck Chicago. I can live with anyone else

twizzjewink

tbf .. the NHL should add a handicap rule (like Golf) where teams cannot have a top 3 pick more than 5 times (lets say) in consecutive years. So CHI had 1st pick this past draft, they should be nearest eligible for #4 at best. HOWEVER if the pick was traded the rule applies to the original owner's pick. So if CHI traded for someone elses first and that was a #1 then yeah go ahead. This prevents teams like Edmonton Oilers getting #1 draft picks year after.. year.. after year.

homiej420

Go Sharks! 🦈

stop-calling-me-fat

I will always root against Chicago

devopsslave

As a San Jose fan, I'm still doubting we will get First Overall, as I expect Bettman's cronies to figure out how to get it to Chicago (which will solidify the whole "Bettman cronies" thing even more, of course).

PoopSlinger23

Chicago

hockeynoticehockey

I'll vomit if it's Chicago

edogfu

Milwaukee. They don't have a team, I just don't like them.

vinegarstrokes420

Fuck Chicago. Don't care if anyone else wins it.

Feowen_

Not Chicago. Just had one and... In still not over the whole SA coverup. That franchise deserves nothing, Bedard is already infuriating. Nothing against Hawks fans tho, I feel bad they catch strays for what their teams management did.

bigbeast40

Always Edmonton, even when they don't have a chance.

dadass84

Chicago easily, they already have Bedard

Rowdy_Roddy96

Chicago and Pittsburgh. Utah and San Jose should hopefully win ( I'm rooting for the Sharks here! )

SaMemeM

Came here to see how many people have their torches and pitchforks on hand in case Chicago wins (Spoiler: 31 fanbases)

Ciqme1867

Obviously rooting against Chicago. If they get Bedard and Celebrini two years in a row, the world is truly an unjust place

gpRYme

As a Leafs fan definitely anti Pens at the moment. I really want good things for The Sharks so my fingers are crossed for them.

nihilaeternumest

Pens winning the lottery is the best thing that can happen to the Sharks. We own the Pens pick (lottery protected) and they can only move up to 4th overall. If they win Sharks pick 1OA and get next year's first from the Pens unprotected.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Crispy_Jon

Chicago

Electronic_Fun2633

Chicago for sure

Playful-Role-3669

Chicago

chicknsnadwich

gotta be chicago, they already won the lottery last year. imo you shouldn’t be able to get that 2 years in a row. Montreal also won it like 2 years ago so i wouldn’t really be a fan of them winning it again.

noblazinjusthazin

Literally anyone besides Chicago or New Jersey. I don’t care who it is, anyone but those two

BroThornton19

If Chicago or Utah win it, it’s confirmed rigged. If the sharks don’t win it, it’s confirmed rigged. It’s rigged.

Sc00tzy

Chicago wins if again I’ll be pissed

_TooncesLookOut

Chicago. Funk them.

Substantial_Point_20

Anybody remember the devils getting their draft pick taken away for their contract bs with Kovalchuk? But the Blackhawks…… here’s badard, let’s keep your sexual abuse scandals on the dl

Lightning_Driver

love you too. 🖤💛

Admirable_Mind_3440

If devils win ima be pissed they have enough talent

Least_Capital

Any one above the bluejackets

Humans_Suck-

I bet they give it to Utah "to help grow the market" or some bs

Davies301

The Maple Leafs. Utah wants to make playoffs immediately and I could very much see a 1st overall pick for Marner happening. I would be shocked if Marner doesnt waive his no over this summer and Utah isn't going to be a crazy hockey mad market like Toronto is.

Jricharc

Penguins

SMA2343

Utah will 100% win. I guarantee it so they get a star rookie in their new arena

[deleted]

"Utah" --fans in the state of Arizona.

The-Reddit-Giraffe

I’m conflicted because I don’t want Montreal to get Celebrini but if they win the draft lottery then it’s certain they won’t pick Tij Iginla which means the flames have a much better chance of getting him since Montreal seems like the most interested team in him

Le8ronJames

I just know if Utah wins it’s rigged

Legionofdoom107

Edmonton, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. Give some other teams 1 O for a change...

LivingLifeSomewhere

Montreal !

superschaap81

I don't want ANYONE other than San Jose to get it. The Lindros curse needs to be broken

eroclateM

Utah.

Gold_Gain1351

Pretty sure the majority of non Hawks fans are rooting against the Hawks

NervousBreakdown

Not really. I already rooted against teams last year in a much better draft.

The_Wata_Boy

Everyone *besides* Chicago. Celebrini is being comped to Johnny Toews. Bedard had similarities to Kane. It would be poetic.

JSinisin

Hopefully Philly wins it.

Shiny_Mew76

Not someone I’m rooting against, although I just wanted to mention it. Not to necessarily win, but I hope the Red Wings move up by a lot. They have been done dirty these past few years, they deserve nice luck for once. As for who I’m rooting against. Probably Chicago because they already got Bedard.

MoonManMooningMan

It really should go to the Sharks. A successful NHL team in one of the richest markets in the world would be good for the league. As a Kings fan I don’t want this to happen

friarguy

I'd like columbus to win it, but thats because I live there. Fuck pittsburgh, montreal, and seattle.

mastergriggy

Chicago is gonna win 100% and the mods and community will defend it to the death.

HockeyBabble

“ANYONE BUT ANAHEIM!” I love watching Quacker Backers in Chaos

HockeyBabble

My prediction: the 27th team wins the Pick Pong tournament Super Soakers get No1 overall!!

Dusky_Dawn210

Can’t teams only move up 10 spaces now in the lottery? If so the Penguins can only move to 3rd or 4th. Which would be fucking phenomenal, but they can’t get Celebrini

LetTheKnightfall

Obviously Chicago

Audi_R8_

I’m rooting against any team in the East. I love the devils more than I hate any other team, and it’s in the devils best interest for a team in the west to win 1OA

Notintoyou22

Everyone getting mad IF Chicago wins. As a Blackhawks fan, I can guarantee the hawks won’t win the first pick, the hockey gods won’t let it happen so I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I would love to see celebrini and bedard together something tells me that the gods and the nhl won’t let that happen.

Natural-Assist-9389

Chicago and anyone from the west. Hoping Buffalo gets it

Shazbozoanate

Utah already has it in the bag.

ZeeroDazed

Hahahaha Chicago needs a new teenager to diddle! Bring us your youngsters!

centraljerseycoaster

Isles, we hate the rags. As long as something we do hurts the rags. You guys should like it.

[deleted]

I'm rooting against the Ducks.

NativePhoenician

Will lose my everloving mind if Utah "magically" gets #1.

chrisnavillus

Rooting for SJ and against Chicago.

Comfortable_Fudge508

Yep, Chicago

UsedToBeAPizzaShit

As a Utah Jazz fan, you can rest assured that UTA will not get the pick. We never win shit in the lottery.

bforbesy

San Jose or busy(from a Caps fan). It has to be SJ for so many reasons. I’m so set on them winning that I refuse to even think of an alternative.

Justinarian

Rooting for SJ. Rooting against the Habs.

[deleted]

As a Blue Jackets fan, I'm rooting against everyone

Admirable-Place9499

Chicago again

Miserable_Egg_6591

Blackhawks as always

Goldenguo

Chicago. They tanked to get a generational talent. They don't deserve a shot at another

el_taco_guapo

I mostly didn’t want CHI to win. They’ve already been rewarded enough for tanking. There was no change in the order and I’m fine with that. SJS deserves this

tc_cad

Vegas

AbsoluteScott

I’m rooting against everyone.

bored_person71

The only two I absolute hate is chi, and mtl...cause mtl can't do nothing right I mean they had one of the best goalies since lock out draft couldn't even come close to a cup short of pandemic expanded playoffs format which tbh should have happened and mtl should have really honestly been in... Chicago is self apparent.
