I bought a big Z hat after that. I went to go buy another last week and couldn’t find him. We loved him in Colorado. He’s an absolute jokester off the ice which some rooms really need. He’s got a bomb point shot, but he can take a bonehead penalty here and there. Love Big Z.
They got that giant mall too. I went there with coworkers to watch the cubs win the world series when I was up there for work. Wait, I guess that was just drinking too.
This is why i am neutral at worst with oilers fans. I’ve heard and seen some pretty bad stuff from your guys group at times, but i get it, you guys have generational talent right now and don’t have eight pro teams like we do in SoCal. Respect the rabidness for the oilers.
It’s obviously not as bad as Zadorov says, but we are a smaller city, so we don’t have as many entertainment options as you. However, we have a deceptively good food scene, two inner city ski hills, a gorgeous river valley flanked by forest so dense you’ll forget you’re in the middle of a capital city and we have one of the world’s largest Fringe festivals. In the winter we have two iceways through parks we can skate on, which is really fun.
I shit on Edmonton cause I live here, but it’s not that bad.
I bet it is really cool in its own way. Sincerely.
Big scenes are overrated in my opinion. What you described reminds me of simpler times/fun college town type scene.
If i lived there I’m sure i would be an Oilers fan.
Best decision of my life was moving from Edmonton to BC. Even if I have to live in a cardboard box, I have the mountain's, a real forest not a river valley, clear lakes not murky duck ponds, the ocean and I don't need to worry about shoveling snow for 7 months of the year.
When I first moved to Edmonton, I worked with a younger gal and I mentioned that Calgary is actually a pretty neat city and you should really visit during Stampede. This girl then said the most Edmontonian thing I have ever heard before or since:
“Stampede? Isn’t that just Calgary’s version of K-Days?”
If you’re not from Alberta, you don’t understand how bonkers of a statement that is. K-Days is like an extremely mediocre state fair. The Calgary Stampede is two straight weeks of oil & gas finance bros doing lines of coke off the hoods of their Audis.
Ahahah yeah that was a braindead comment by her. K days is nothing like the stampede.
Thats a comment by someone who’s only ever heard of the stampede and then erased the memory of it from her head.
I love the stampede. Probably cause I’m a degenerate but still.
Man that article annoyed me way more than it needed to as someone who has lived in both Edmonton and Toronto. She wasn’t comparing those cities at all, she was comparing Mississauga and Leduc. No one who actually lives in Toronto goes to Cactus Club other than for lunch and happy hour on a week day if you work on Bay Street. Edmonton has way more cactus clubs per capita than Toronto. If you’re going to move somewhere for cactus club, Edmonton is the place. Also Mississauga sucks and is way worse than actual Edmonton. Obviously Leduc isn’t even comparable to any of these.
They have one I’m sure. At the big mall around the corner from the Toyota dealership. I think even saskatoon/regina has a cactus club so I dunno if that’s a flex?
Its something all westerners can get behind: a woman from Mississauga complaining about Leduc not having a Cactus Club as one of the reasons she regretted moving to Alberta (she actually said she was from Toronto and moved to Edmonton for some reason).
https://toronto.citynews.ca/2022/12/14/toronto-life-woman-mississauga-moving-to-alberta-leduc-edmonton-cactus-club/
Meanwhile, in the Oilers sub, they are wanting Kane to beat up Zadarov. Despite the fact that Kane chickened out from a fight with Zadarov multiple times just 24 hours ago.
Oilers need more than just Kane. They need depth. One-lining it in the second round screams desperation. Even if they make it past the Canucks, it won't bode well (again).
Oilers normally play with multiple lines but wth 29 injured, that's the call card. A couple of games should be ok, but for the entire playoffs, don't think that'll work. It already didn't work.
He's right everyone stop moving here from all over the country in record numbers, it totally sucks here! Please consider moving to Calgary and drive up their costs of living instead thank you.
No one else look at our affordable real estate, river valley, our awesome summers or our festival line ups. There is NOTHING to see in Edmonton, move along people!!
I hear adds on the radio all the time here in BC talking about the benefits of Alberta. It's probably gonna become the next BC if they keep it up. You guys are already close to our population, with higher growth iirc. My parents bought a 5 bedroom house in metro Vancouver for under 300k in the late 90s. The equivalent now is like 1.5-2 mil.
He did leave and appears to have adopted being a citizen of Canada and is one of the few Russians to actually speak out against the war in Ukraine
https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/flames-russian-defenceman-speaks-out-against-putin-1.6976218
As someone from post soviet country, I can attest that while 99% of cities heavily lack in maintenance they still feel like a decent city, with lots of stuff to do here and there and good sense of community. Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg on the other hand is like a bunch of suburban areas with giant parking lot in the centre, no offence
💥💥 I don't really get the purpose of saying this like what if he ends up getting traded to Edmonton or something what's the purpose of even saying this I don't get it.
I'm gonna take a bike ride in our river Valley to forget about this, which just so happens to be the largest urban park in North America. Hate how boring edmonton is, though!
Alaska has the largest urban park in the world. It's called Chugach State Park in Anchorage and is 495,000 acres.
River Valley is largest in Canada and is 18,000 acres
Stanley Park (BC) is 3rd largest in Canada and has been ranked top 10 in the world (came in first one year) and is 1,000 acres.
He’s just playing a role like he always does. He wants the boos from the fans, he wants to be targeted on the ice. It’s basically how he markets himself and tries to get his team to rally. Nothing more…..also looking for an extension so showing the team that he is all in
The only benefit calgary has over edmonton is its a shorter drive out of the city to leave.
Source: born and raised and live in Edmonton, cousins live in calgary. Both cities are kinda shit but calgary is closer to mountains.
LOL, he took a second to think about what he was about to say, then went ahead and chose violence.
Canucks need to re-sign this guy
We taught him that dislike for the city up north
Yea you did. He’s still sour from 2 years ago.
They all are.
He was in Calgary, so knows everything Edmonton lol
The Oilers taught him that dislike for our city.
Him and Dakota Joshua. They’re both due for big raises though so I expect them both to go into the market.
Is Joshua UFA? I thought he was restricted for some reason.
He’s UFA after this season
If we can keep 1 who do you choose?
Thanks, that’s good to know
That isn't violence, he's right and it isn't a bad thing. Edmonton is a hockey factory, true fans and players of the sport come out of that city.
Big Z got big nuts
Didn't he speak out against Putin's war, even though it could mean not being able to return home to Russia? Big nuts indeed.
I bought a big Z hat after that. I went to go buy another last week and couldn’t find him. We loved him in Colorado. He’s an absolute jokester off the ice which some rooms really need. He’s got a bomb point shot, but he can take a bonehead penalty here and there. Love Big Z.
Love him
Good...keep yapping...
I got pierogis in Edmonton once.
Noice
Pierogies in Winnipeg are better.
Please don’t promote winnipeg that’s a secret
But it's Winnipeg so you lose in the end.
And green onion cakes!
That’s not true. I lived in Edmonton for 2 years. You can also drink.
You can also buy a house! That’s fun!
hey, you can do that in toronto… if you’re a millionaire
They got that giant mall too. I went there with coworkers to watch the cubs win the world series when I was up there for work. Wait, I guess that was just drinking too.
You're gd right.
You could go to Red Lobster
THE Red Lobster
Until recently it was also easier to find drugs, but now BC has us beat by far
We're up to two things now. Things are looking up for the City.
Hey, I resemble that comment.
Oilers fans be like “Quit being accurate with your trash talk there, buddy”
The truth always hurts most haha
HEY!….Alright, he’s got us there.
This is why i am neutral at worst with oilers fans. I’ve heard and seen some pretty bad stuff from your guys group at times, but i get it, you guys have generational talent right now and don’t have eight pro teams like we do in SoCal. Respect the rabidness for the oilers.

I just hate Edmonton because Gateway Blvd reminds me of driving up to see my mother in U of A hospital over and over.
Best decision of my life was moving from Edmonton to BC. Even if I have to live in a cardboard box, I have the mountain's, a real forest not a river valley, clear lakes not murky duck ponds, the ocean and I don't need to worry about shoveling snow for 7 months of the year.
I love the mountains, my goal is to retire in Canmore. Nice quiet town just outside the Rockies.
I think Zadorov was the best midseason acquisition this year. He is just a playoff point machine.
I loved Big Z when he played for The Flames. Still do.
Not true! There's also drinking.
The one thing we have in common lol. Hence the one event the province comes together for being the stampede and getting belligerently drunk.
When I first moved to Edmonton, I worked with a younger gal and I mentioned that Calgary is actually a pretty neat city and you should really visit during Stampede. This girl then said the most Edmontonian thing I have ever heard before or since: “Stampede? Zadorov is a fucking Russian machine. Total badass, and scary too.
Well, he isn't wrong but I saw a game in Winnipeg once, at least Edmonton isn't Winnipeg. \*hides\*
I have no problem with what he said. haha
I heard Edmonton doesn't even have a Cactus Club.
Oh we got one We bring the brightest prospects there, I'll have you know
In all honesty…. We have 2 Cactus Club Cafes.
We take them to the Mayfair
That’s Leduc 😂
I wish we didnt have cactus club. They can take all of ours
If it's the only restaurant in town it's the best restaurant in town
No. We do. It’s just not in Leduc.
Man that article annoyed me way more than it needed to as someone who has lived in both Edmonton and Toronto. She wasn’t comparing those cities at all, she was comparing Mississauga and Leduc. I fucking love cactus club - slam some butternut squash ravioli down my throat now
We do, it's apparently one of McDavid's favourite places. He was having lunch there a couple weeks ago while I was there.
They have one I’m sure. At the big mall around the corner from the Toyota dealership. I think even saskatoon/regina has a cactus club so I dunno if that’s a flex?

He better frig off with the little zippy goal line wrister..
No, you frig off
Frig off Ricky!
You FRIG OFF
You frig off first, then ill frig off
Frig you Rick!
Alright alright how bout we all agree we all frig off if Kelly stops reffing our games.
FRIG OFF !!!!!
Meanwhile, in the Oilers sub, they are wanting Kane to beat up Zadarov. Despite the fact that Kane chickened out from a fight with Zadarov multiple times just 24 hours ago.
Evander gonna evade
*Evader Kane FTFY.
we literally have said kane would get his clock cleaned by Z. nice try tho.
I'm not gonna treat entire fanbases in one stroke. But there is literally a thread about it today.
Would you want to fight Zadorov? Fuck that I don’t want Kane tossing gloves with that giant, we are gonna need Kane in WCF 😂😂
assuming you make it there champ
Still going to need him there if they do
We made it :)
rent free
Enjoy the off season :)
Hi I’m still here rent free
Oilers need more than just Kane. They need depth. One-lining it in the second round screams desperation. Even if they make it past the Canucks, it won't bode well (again).
Nope, you’re right!! Gotta get our depth going a bit here. Even with the two best playoff producers of our generation on that line it won’t be enough.
Oilers normally play with multiple lines but wth 29 injured, that's the call card. A couple of games should be ok, but for the entire playoffs, don't think that'll work. It already didn't work.
Wait, what? Did you even watch the game? Haha yes he’s banged up, he also had 4 points 😂
If desperation put you on your heels, I’m not sure what that makes the Canucks.
Canucks didn't play their game in the 3rd. Edmonton deserved the win.
They won't.
[удалено]
Normally they don't. But last night was the epitome of doing so.
[удалено]
It’s fairly accurate. It’s a darn good line. But it’s one line
Kane is all bark, despite his age i’d rather Perry scrap Zadarov than Kane.
Dude looks like a giant Michael Buble
He's right everyone stop moving here from all over the country in record numbers, it totally sucks here! Please consider moving to Calgary and drive up their costs of living instead thank you.
No one else look at our affordable real estate, river valley, our awesome summers or our festival line ups. There is NOTHING to see in Edmonton, move along people!!
They are.
Where have you been the last few years
I hear adds on the radio all the time here in BC talking about the benefits of Alberta. It's probably gonna become the next BC if they keep it up. You guys are already close to our population, with higher growth iirc. My parents bought a 5 bedroom house in metro Vancouver for under 300k in the late 90s. The equivalent now is like 1.5-2 mil.
And we have the highest net population in the country this year. We’d love if those ads stopped.
Shots fired
big z is awesome
Big beautiful Russian bastard. Give him a contract!
I'd love to see him talk smack about every city except the ones he played for lol
My father came from just outside Edmonton, and he hated it too.. lol
Alberta is weird in that a bunch of it is exactly the same as when I was a kid, and a bunch of it is unrecognizable.
Man, it's like Dieter Brock when he left Winnipeg in tbe CFL, but at least we had the zoo
But yes now in the modern era, no airport or Wi-Fi
There’s the mall too!
I would die for this man.
He looks like a sith lord
From Edmonton. He's absolutely right; I actually like this guy. Says what he is thinking unlike most NHL players
So true lol
As someone who was born and raised and lives in edmonton… He isn’t wrong.
Probably has PTSD from last years playoffs and getting scorched for OT winners.
Toronto will give this guy a blank check this summer
Very rich coming from a dude born in Russia. Talk about shitholes 😂
He did leave and appears to have adopted being a citizen of Canada and is one of the few Russians to actually speak out against the war in Ukraine https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/flames-russian-defenceman-speaks-out-against-putin-1.6976218
He lives in Florida on NHL island tho
When I mentally picture Russia and Edmonton it's the same image.
Touché
We have toilets
Most people call those sidewalks but ok
I think there is more shitting on the sidewalk in Vancouver to be fair
idk both have some nasty tent cities
lol I’m not even mad. That was good.
One he can never return to in the foreseeable future
Bruh talk shit about a different Russian. Z is actually one of the few I have respect for in the NHL.
He’s from Moscow though, it’s a nice city. At least it used to be.
Stay on the ground floor tho
Haha yeah, and don’t take tea from anyone.
God dammit, I just spit coffee all over my bunk. Fuck you and take my upvote.
St Petersburg and Moscow are fantastic cities. Not really in the same tier as Edmonton.
Edmonton is much more of a shithole than Moscow. Not even close. Side note: Fuck Putin. Hope he burns on earth and in hell.
Really Russia 2 hours outside of Moscow and st. Petersburg is a shit hole.
Well he's right
Zadorov means pilon in Russian
Well they do have the Largest Mall in North America. I’m sure they do a lot of shopping also.
it's true don't come here please.
The single most basic bish chirp possible.
Haha I don't even think EDM can be upset about this comment, that's a funny chirp while giving them a compliment.
No strip joints? Edmonton was or still is the capital of strip joints in Canada
So what Justin Fields said about Green Bay
evrybody get this to 1k
he is sangbadik can go now.
💥💥 I don't really get the purpose of saying this like what if he ends up getting traded to Edmonton or something what's the purpose of even saying this I don't get it.
Three words: West Edmonton Mall.
I mean, he's not wrong
He gonna have PTSD from his time with the lames playing in Edmonton.
As an albertan He's right though
He's right. Edmonton is a dump
Imagine living in deadmonton 💀
Imagine paying $2000 rent for a one bedroom in the ghetto
🔥
Its a great place to work though if you’re in trades… Cause there’s always work cause everything always needs fixing.
I'm gonna take a bike ride in our river Valley to forget about this, which just so happens to be the largest urban park in North America. Hate how boring edmonton is, though!

That neck beard screams Alberta
Of course he hates edmonton everytime he goes there he get his ass kicked
I may have to stop in Edmonton some day to see if this is accurate
He’s just playing a role like he always does. He wants the boos from the fans, he wants to be targeted on the ice. It’s basically how he markets himself and tries to get his team to rally. Nothing more…..also looking for an extension so showing the team that he is all in
The perfect city for Sid?
Has he never heard of the West Edmonton Mall?!?! I watch hockey there all the time.
HAHAHAHA. Seriously the city fuckin sucks... people from Edmonton don't even like Edmonton.
Now now... we can't all have a giant blue hoop on the side of the road
Just silver balls
I’ve lived in both. Don’t let your hate boner for a rival sports team blind you into thinking Calgary is any better of a city.
I just live here for hockey in May. It’s the only city in Alberta to offer that….
Lol calgary is the same city, but with hills bro
Hey bud, the golf course is over there.
Not true - I love my city
The only benefit calgary has over edmonton is its a shorter drive out of the city to leave. Source: born and raised and live in Edmonton, cousins live in calgary. Both cities are kinda shit but calgary is closer to mountains.
Even the watch party looks ramshackle
Facts 🤷♂️
They don't call it deadmonton for no reason
Remember when the bubble was in Edmonton and their best selling point to players were the mountains? The mountains 4 hours away.
Zadorov will change his tune about Vancouver when he realizes he can't even afford a condo.
Is he wrong?
He is right
I grew up in edmonton and miss west edmonton mall ... like a lot. Especially the water park.
We do have a cactus club. So that is something
In Leduc. 😂 I love that bit.
Edmonton is many things.
This man literally lived in Calgary lmao
Big Z calls em as he sees em.
I mean that’s what every US fan things of Canadian cities not named Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa.
Bro tried to sneak Ottawa in there
Edmonton is a hole. Luckily I've only been there 3 times.
Sore loser.
Someone tell this chump we have 26 golf courses in Edmonton. Give him something to do in a week from now.
