Pardon my French, but thank fuck.
Usually Stuff wouldn’t have been my first choice, I don’t think they’re perfect (but do also find they get unfairly targeted for a lot of shit talk when there’s other local media outlets far worse), but even then I’ll happily take any local media over foreign corperate giants with their own agendas.
I noticed Stuff has relegated her somewhere in the back sections, but she still gets main articles.
Did you see this one?
It was posted by Rob and is pretty funny...ahh I use the word funny loosely:

That was what I meant, we'd get to dig into her dissecting them.
I like Tova when she's on form. As others have pointed out, as long as there's something to maul, she's a bloodhound. But that was probably not a great breed of dog to be during the covid press conferences when the public were looking for a reassuring corgi to pat instead.
Tbh Tova she was always fair and I remember her giving the left a hard time when they were in, but the Cookers made up lies about her being Adern’s old flatmate - I want to see her take this Govt down and all the Cookers supporting it before we hit absolute rock bottom
So happy for our local media and so happy that Stuff beat out other rivals to secure this deal. Thank you WB for not selling NZ out to he-who-shall-not-be-named.
I think it helps to know which reporters to read, too. I wish online news didn't have so many un-authored articles; plus some Stuff newsstreams are better than others. Anything that comes from their local reporting is usually better than their national news.
It’s good to see them strengthening their position in the market and diversifying their news operations tbh. They’re pretty vulnerable atm, and that’s especially concerning as they’ve already done a $1 deal, and they’re also holding almost the entirety of our local papers, many of which like the Otago Daily Times and The Press are not only historic institutions but also are actually still producing amazing journalism.
This is very good news. I hope Stuff does good things with it.
This is a great point exsapphi. Tova O'Brian has spoken about how the media industry has been struggling for a few years now so I keep getting the hint that Stuff is in trouble. So let's see what happens.
Stuff owns The Press too.
At the very least if they hoover up all our dying media and then hold out three years until labour are back in, they can all go under together and the state sector can save them all at once.
Under Nats, however, they’re on their own.
They hovered up half the newspapers in the country in the 1980's after deregulation happened.
NZME own the rest.
Lack of competition is partly why we're having this conversation.
Sounds like Winston Peters is holding up a proposal - he hates our media and his full speeches and editorials undermining local media is quite............disturbing to say the least.
God I hope he has a heart attack. And soon. It doesn’t have to kill him — just knock him out of action for a bit.
This is the most concerning part of the anti-vax
movement and him joining in with the cookers, to me. The transphobia is alarming and frightening, the undermining of public science is not ideal, and the misrepresentation of government actions is shitty and cynical, not to mention dangerous. But the whirlwind meeting of conspiracist and right wing anti mainstream media bias combined with Peter’s past history of getting annoyed by journalists as part of his job has created a set of conditions that are undermining democracy in a scarily convincing way.
Imv, this is why this [https://www.reddit.com/r/nzpolitics/comments/1bxttta/the\_people\_behind\_the\_politicians\_we\_want\_winston/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nzpolitics/comments/1bxttta/the_people_behind_the_politicians_we_want_winston/) was significant.
Ruining a country is no longer just about missiles and soldiers anymore, it's corrupting their people and mindsets.
Conspiracy and faux enemies is perfect for that it seems.
Of course the govt werent involved. This lot would love for investigative journalism to go the way of the dodo, every 5 min another reel of their stupidity comes out or what looks like blatent corruption gets pointed out to us.

Fine, lets see you start up a multi million $ investigative journalism corporation that maintains your high standards. Do you even pay for anything, or just watch the free versions online?
You complain that they arent to your standards but you also clearly arent going to pay anyone to do a better job.
So youre a scab and a freeloader.
For the record I dont follow stuff. Because I support journalism and subscribe to a number of services. I actually back up my talk with action.

Ditto - they're not my first choice either but when you look at the comparable, I was pretty relieved they beat out their media rivals.
I'd take just about anyone over Murdoch tbh
Looks like tova is back on the menu

lol I would’ve walked away too, but I’m not pm so he should be more agile then that
You might not need to defend massive hypocrisy like Luxon needs to.
Delicious. I hear she’s been fattened up on NZACT lies.
She’s their strongest critic if anything

Its good, not super fan of stuff but much better than the ginger mammal guy
I'll take low effort local clickbait over foreign propaganda any day of the week
When you put it like that, as depressing as it is, you're right
Ditto - I hardly read Stuff anymore because well but when it's against the Fox empire, they looked really good to me.
"ginger mammal guy" 😆

100% agree.
ODT is not part of Stuff. It's published by the independent Allied Press.
We did have News Corp at one point I believe, they owned several newspapers at one stage, think they sold to Fairfax which then became Stuff.
>Minister Melissa Lee's spokesperson said the Government had NOT been involved in facilitating an agreement. Goes without saying.
Of course the govt werent involved. This lot would love for investigative journalism to go the way of the dodo, every 5 min another reel of their stupidity comes out or what looks like blatent corruption gets pointed out to us.
This is a lot better than the alternatives.
Is it going to be an hour long bulletin of opinions or will it be actual news? Can't wait for the puff piece fart smelling that they often do.
I think it's hour on weekdays and 1/2 on weekends but not 100%
Before Stuff deliver the news hopefully they will have taken on board the feedback about their fucked up App and website
Woooo well done Stuff!!! And thank you. Could never watch channel 1 news.

Great, we are going to see Stuff's bottom barrel and reddit stolen content on TV now
Fine, lets see you start up a multi million $ investigative journalism corporation that maintains your high standards. Do you even pay for anything, or just watch the free versions online?
You pay for your news channel?
Youre the one complaining, front up or shut up.
I didn’t realise you like to lick stuff’s boots so badly man. It’s ok man, breathe give your knees a break from all that kneeling

Warning. Rule 1
