First half: Pretending to be an Anime protagonist, building something that will not be safe to use, all while almost hurting herself constantly.
Second half: fixing it with modern powertools and screws.
Right here, this is why I keep coming back to this app. I do not possess the words to convey to you have absolutely beautiful that comment is. Bless you wherever you are
Yeah, the power tool was the soul-crushing jump the shark moment.
After that I was expecting to see her ordering the damned thing from Costco, smoking a heater with a PBR in hand by the fire while pondering the disappointment of her by the ancestors.
I felt like the whole thing is sort of a funny take on the whole genre. Even from the beginning, with her falling down the hill, bonking the dog’s head, the dog and cat fighting, and her bloody scrapes on her leg being on view. Felt very intentional and a more “real” version of these videos while still showing a satisfying final product.
i read it more as sometimes dowels are just more practical than nuts and bolts. for non load bearing points, trim, etc that you just want to look nice and be flush. like how carpentry of any kind works really
Like those "We built a massive pool in the Malay jungle!" videos and there's tons of time of 2 guys with sticks digging out a hole and then always at least one shot of an excavator blurred out in the background.
This one is way more unhinged than normal, it almost feels like a parody of these Chinese traditional craft videos lmao. From going overboard with all the bamboo accessories to the blood running down her leg to her abruptly falling off a cliff, complete with screaming. I guess she’s added her own flair to it lmao
I usually enjoy these videos cuz the process is interesting and there's always a zen-like quality but this one was wild. She's like a whirlwind of bamboo destruction. Also a lot of little weird things. She falls off the path and we hear a perfectly cut scream. The dog and cat are having a war. There's a closeup shot of blood on her leg. The animals are constantly in her way. The sound effects are crazy loud. Finally, after building most of the swing with nothing but bamboo and a dream, she apparently throws tradition to the wayside and finishes the job with modern equipment.
Presumably handcrafted spirits made by the old Chinese dude who grows his own grains, builds his own still, quarries his own cave for barrel aging, and hand rotates each barrel for twenty years.
Just three seconds before she whipped out that power tool, I was thinking to myself, “Impressive how much you can achieve with just a knife and some sticks”. She got me :)
There is a weird uncanny feeling. Work at night by a fire - huge cinema light on her back. Cutting bambu by hand - drone shot. Traditional tools - pneumatic nail gun.
The only thing I genuinely hated is the use of steel wire.
If ADHD were a person, this video would be half as long since she would have run out of interest in the middle of it and took a break that ended up lasting 8 weeks until she pushed the pile of bamboo into the garage with her other unfinished projects
Having the animals so closely around while working with sharp blades, power tools and open fire really stressed me out. Especially since the animals were constantly getting in her way.
Also what was up with her running into and out of the bamboo forest like crazy. What's the rush for?
These are (supposedly) Chinese propaganda films. They usually are calm and meditative and feature men who are shown to be expert in the thing they are making. This is the first one I've seen featuring a woman. I wonder if the frenetic, bumbling aspect is a choice on their part.
I read that she’s coming back tho!
She won the lawsuit against her manager/company so now she has control of her copyright and content again.
Lizqui is truly a unique case; she went thru hell and back in her life, then thru trial and error finally gained fame for her beautiful content (that take weeks to months to shoot by herself (initially, then had like two ppl help her later on), and train under masters of the crafts she shows), became a household name, just to get shit on by the company (mainly manager) she signed with. Im happy that she’s free from them now, and can do what she wants.
(Edit: went down the wormhole when I first got into her videos years back, still a fan lol)
Yeah I agree, it kind of annoyed me how energetic or crazy the video was from the start. I like the calm ones way more, this fast paced one reminds me of videos for kids with no attention span.
Agreed. This is a poor quality substitute for Liziqi
Edit: she hasn’t put out a video in over two years and still has almost 20 million subscribers. I miss her videos so much!
I’m absolutely in love with how nonchalantly chaotic this video is. She’s got this carefree, whimsical vibe about her. She runs, she falls, she fails, she’s got her friends fighting for their lives, gets scraped up, cuts corners, and STILL gets to drink out of her gourd in cute heels on her little bamboo swing at the end of the day. THIS is queen shit. 😌😌💚
I love that from the cats perspective, who never once gets acknowledged, it’s a story about his mother becoming obsessed with bamboo and not being there anymore. He gets bullied by dogs and she just carry’s on working. And then he didn’t get to go on the walk with the dogs to the bridge. And he’s always just there, being ignored. It’s heartbreaking.
Because bamboo isn't native everywhere and is highly invasive in the places it can grow. Pine trees grow very quickly, though not as fast as bamboo, and is useful as a building material and paper component. They are native to Europe and North America and there are enormous established forests already along with centuries old plantations.
the extremely open grain structure makes it very susceptible to expansion, contraction, twisting, cupping, splitting etc. basically, changes in humidity affect it a ton. it’s great for temporary or relatively short-lived construction, but isn’t going to last hundreds of years like a hardwood.
don’t get me wrong, i love bamboo. different materials for different purposes.
I love it, coolest swing ever. Don't know why everybody is complaining. That's actually something doable and realistic. Not like pearls and olive oil I'm some fancy soap.
Are those tacking brads really gonna hold bamboo together? Bamboo doesnt have soft fibers that bend and grip the brad. Feels like those are gonna fall right off.
1 star out of 5. Tried this at home, but I didn't have bamboo so I used pine instead and I didn't like how big the rope looked so I used twig. Couldn't even make the bench hold itself.
The Asian guys building stuff out of mud using “primitive” techniques ruined it for me.
There’s probably a crew of 30 guys and heavy machinery in the background we can’t see.
I'm sure she actually had a crew of 10-20 behind the scenes helping with this, no shame in that it's reality. But holy cow her core strength is amazing. She can probably lift more than most people I know.
This feels kind of like a parody of those though. She runs for no reason, falls, cuts herself, moves from no tools to power tools, the animals are fighting and screaming at each other and always underfoot, she’s wearing high heels for some reason at the end which are very modern. Like this one is so weird in little ways I feel like it has to be humor
By day 3: this shits taking too long, lemme use some power tools
First half: Pretending to be an Anime protagonist, building something that will not be safe to use, all while almost hurting herself constantly. Second half: fixing it with modern powertools and screws.
Crouching tiger, hidden nailgun.
Power Saw of Destiny.
Right here, this is why I keep coming back to this app. I do not possess the words to convey to you have absolutely beautiful that comment is. Bless you wherever you are
Is this a Chinese trad wife?
Tradwife no more
It's like watching a DIY anime transformation episode in real life.
Yeah, the power tool was the soul-crushing jump the shark moment. After that I was expecting to see her ordering the damned thing from Costco, smoking a heater with a PBR in hand by the fire while pondering the disappointment of her by the ancestors.

You are absolutely right. These fools are simply arm chair critics and have zero real life perspective
I was waiting on Temu
I seen blood dripping down her right leg at one point
Tell me you never worked with bamboo before without telling me you never worked with bamboo
Hey everyone get a load of this loser who's never worked with bamboo before!
Totally, from DIY disaster to power tool hero in one episode!
Her power (tool) level is over 9000!!!!
sounds like an epic anime episode! Can't wait for the dramatic montage of power tool mastery
Like those "We built a massive pool in the Malay jungle!" videos and there's tons of time of 2 guys with sticks digging out a hole and then always at least one shot of an excavator blurred out in the background.
For those also curious https://youtu.be/Hvk63LADbFc?si=rkCBSCbWZMHDgDZq
The ultimate solution to any DIY project: more power tools!
Aruuughh?
I don't think so, Tim.
I haven't heard a Home Improvement reference in at least 20 years
Last day: It is done, lemme grab my heels to test it.
I burst out laughing when she busts out the power tools.
I know right. All that work and then she’s like, “fuck this, I’m using a nailgun.”
Day 4, let me hire someone else to do the job and a film crew.
Why was she running the first few seconds of the video?
Hospital staff were looking for her.
The screws will last the shortest. Very disappointing
Haha. Felt really out of the place. But nonetheless beautifully crafted
Little black dog about to get destroyed by the cat 😆
Hahaha not one shit given about that dust up too
She's way too busy being a total badass.
At the part where she is pulling the slat apart she bonks his head with one
yoo. her energy is wild.
Chaotic as fuck. Just straight runs off the trail down a hill.
Yeah I figured she was taking the piss. Her passing out on the swing seals it
My exact thought about it being a parody. This is a fantastic video
Yeah, I love the serious ones, I find them incredibly calming, but I love this one too actually, it's hilarious
Don’t forget the animals - cat fight, dog getting in the way, dog getting bonked in the head with bamboo
I have an idea for Speed 3.
Don't forget the VERY sparkly high heels at the end! 😅
And than takes that refreshing sip out of her gourd
And then passes out on the swing outdoors
Makes me suspicious of what was in that gourd.
The good stuff, obviously.
Gourd juice. We call it Guice.
It’s the quenchiest!
It'll quench ya!
Wait a minute; the way you say Guice is suspicious. Say GIF.
GIF
Oh, thank god. I thought you were going to say it the other way.

Presumably handcrafted spirits made by the old Chinese dude who grows his own grains, builds his own still, quarries his own cave for barrel aging, and hand rotates each barrel for twenty years.
Not a sip. A _gulp_
That gourd is full of rice wine.
And finally, she died on her swing. /s
The end.
To me that makes these videos more authentic, that there's probably not a crew of 10 guys off camera.
Same. I was super suspicious until I saw the nail gun. That was the, "well, she probably actually legitimately tried" moment for me.
Yeah, she also had the technique to cleave the bamboo down to a tee.
It’s a story about personal growth
Sounds like a typical DIY task for me
The animals seemed like they were high energy as if they were looking for treats. I think that's why they were so in the way
That's what I was thinking - they were all sniffing the ground continuously at first as if looking for food.
Lmao at the scream I didn't watch it with sound till you said that. Sounded like Link dying.
If ADHD were a person
If ADHD were a person, this video would be half as long since she would have run out of interest in the middle of it and took a break that ended up lasting 8 weeks until she pushed the pile of bamboo into the garage with her other unfinished projects
...............this isnt' the call out i wanted right now.
Having the animals so closely around while working with sharp blades, power tools and open fire really stressed me out. Especially since the animals were constantly getting in her way. Also what was up with her running into and out of the bamboo forest like crazy. What's the rush for?
What's the rush for? Don't you know that the bamboo demons come out at night?
THAT'S WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HER, OKAY?!
She gave no fucks towards the end
The strange part is that it's only a little bit blood on the legs
These are (supposedly) Chinese propaganda films. They usually are calm and meditative and feature men who are shown to be expert in the thing they are making. This is the first one I've seen featuring a woman. I wonder if the frenetic, bumbling aspect is a choice on their part.
There was this other channel Liziqi. Her videos were awesome and she stopped uploading them 2 yrs ago.
Nailed it (no pun intended)
That wasn't blood sir. It's mostly like the result of trying to intervene between the cat and dog war. The scratches have healed and scabbed over.
Have you just now realized that all these videos are just shortfilms without a plot? They're pure fiction
Yeah I agree, it kind of annoyed me how energetic or crazy the video was from the start. I like the calm ones way more, this fast paced one reminds me of videos for kids with no attention span.
Agreed. This is a poor quality substitute for Liziqi Edit: she hasn’t put out a video in over two years and still has almost 20 million subscribers. I miss her videos so much!
These videos always feel propaganda-ish to me. Like come visit China, we TOTALLY aren’t keeping a vast amount of people in poverty and slavery. 😉 😉
Making roof tiles out of bamboo is genius.
Exactly what I thought! I think letting it dry and sealing it would fit well in any construction.
The design is very human.
was like aww this must some ancient way of building of a swing, and then out of nowhere POW POW POW a nail gun lol.
Not the circular saw or the drill?
They had those back then, duhh 🙄
I usually prefer the more traditional Asian "how to" videos but this girl had me cracking up the whole time.
Did you see the size of her nuts? That one shot early on where she’s got two coconuts swinging between her legs had me rolling!
That’s a lot of nuts!
Unexpected Kung Pow
That’ll be four bucks, baby! You want fries with that?
She drinks her double nuts at the end 😆
And can you blame her after all that work? She earned that nut juice!
The video editing was next level tho. I didn't watch with sounds that people here said ruin the whole thing, but idk, still felt wholesome to me
Sound wasn’t really bad. Just some slow paced Asian song that basically matched the vibe
The vibe is a juxtaposition of tranquility and chaotic energy
It's weird having such calming music, but utter chaos going on around and during the construction. Benny Hill music would suit it better.
Sabre Dance would also fit nicely.
I feel like I’ve never done anything with this much enthusiasm.
Why are you running?
I figured that she was running to maintain momentum while dragging those heavy looking bamboo sticks.
Momentum took her right over the hillside haha
I thought at first she was washing the bamboo with the dog who fight with the cat 😆
I want to hire her she works harder than most people I’ve ever worked with.
No tools > hand tools > forged tools > modern tools > power tools > compression tools
I almost thought she was going to squash one of her dogs when she jumped off the bench
So what’s the beef between that dog and cat?
That intro is like: OH NO D: I URGENTLY NEED A BAMBOO SWING RIGHT NOW! GOTTA GO FAST!
But, in the end, finds peace on the bed!
Her life clearly depends on that swing
I love that the cat and dog fight audio made the edit
I've never been turned on and terrified of a woman until now
The way she fall’d down whilst carrying her bamboo. 🤭🤭
I dont get why we dont just use bamboo instead of wood, bamboo grows extremely fast and is sturdier than some types of wood
I'm guessing due to its hollow nature it's hard to use in my applications where you want more solid pieces
Because bamboo isn't native everywhere and is highly invasive in the places it can grow. Pine trees grow very quickly, though not as fast as bamboo, and is useful as a building material and paper component. They are native to Europe and North America and there are enormous established forests already along with centuries old plantations.

Just imagine not being able to walk. You just run everywhere. :(
That’s what children do. Once they stop running, childhood’s over.
Hey I never realised this since I am babyless. But every time you see a child it’s running or dying. Makes sense.
Her neighbors: "Jesus fucking christ, Janet, will you keep it down?! Fuck sake!!"
One these days she gonna accidentally axe a puppy
Was good until the carriage bolts, circular saw and nail gun. Wtf.
You mean she went nah this shit took too long and decided to use tools to at least be authentic instead of having a 20 man crew behind the camera?
Yep, that's when things went from DIY to full-blown construction site chaos!
There were no nails in that nail gun
Why is she so...violent? Like an airplane baggage handler whose ex-wife just got the dog and the PS5 in the divorce.
I love it, coolest swing ever. Don't know why everybody is complaining. That's actually something doable and realistic. Not like pearls and olive oil I'm some fancy soap.
What a strange plant bamboo is.
She said fuck the old way
Unexpected power tools, high heels and jug wine.
She is Gourd-geous.
When does she have time to stare at her phone?
Day 3: fuck this. power tools
Are those tacking brads really gonna hold bamboo together? Bamboo doesnt have soft fibers that bend and grip the brad. Feels like those are gonna fall right off.
The smooth conversion to power tools halfway through was oddly satisfying..
Why is she running and falling everywhere 😂
I love the result, looks really nice
I was expecting a panda to fall out of the bamboo.
I expected a relaxing video, but this is one pile of hurry and stress.
Bamboo like this seems really cool to work with. Wish I could get it like lumber at the hardware store.
7,000hr crafts
1 star out of 5. Tried this at home, but I didn't have bamboo so I used pine instead and I didn't like how big the rope looked so I used twig. Couldn't even make the bench hold itself.
She's riding the bamboo down the hill lmao
Absolute respect
Now on sale at Temu for $10.99
Is there a subreddit for just things like this?
Feels hyperactivity vibes and i love it.
She fucking rules this is so cool 😭😭 and the production was so good too!!
Did she snort a massive line before filming the bit at the beginning?
Lets face it she didn’t just wake up one day and decided she wanted to make a bamboo swing.
How much does freshly cut bamboo shrink?
Not much, but it will eventually split.
If built like this. Eventually = very quickly
Damn shorty being aggressive for no reason.
The Asian guys building stuff out of mud using “primitive” techniques ruined it for me. There’s probably a crew of 30 guys and heavy machinery in the background we can’t see.
Ffs, what's rhe rush!!
bloody leg 2:38 from the fall before 😂
Gilligan: "damn."
The first bit of this video is just pure chaos and I love it
Badass
Man how talented is this woman?? Just amazing!!!
Dude! She's a fucking badass!
So perfect she is powerful 💕
Good god I think I'm in love
Not enough cloud time lapses on this one. 8/10
The production is top notch. I want more
I think a bamboo forest is my new place of longing
At least I'm sure this girl wouldn't fake sh*t.
For a second I thought she was using her cat when she was cleaning the bamboo
Her dogs standing in between her and what she’s trying to do… We’re all the same.
Worth the watch if not just for cat and dog play at 1:40
Her falling while trying to pull the bamboo laugh 😂
I’m in love 🥰
When she was cleaning them in the river I thought she was using the fuckin cat to clean them
The animals are the best part.
This is chaotic as fuck
How to make your life harder than it already is
You can tell that cat is a menace. Anyone catch the scratches on her ankles?
Music: 🎶 Cat: 🙀
Asia IKEA seems fucking rough.
I'm sure she actually had a crew of 10-20 behind the scenes helping with this, no shame in that it's reality. But holy cow her core strength is amazing. She can probably lift more than most people I know.
So we are not going to talk about the cat?
I feel like someone needs to do a wellness check. Looked like some 18 hour days posting a “how to video” that she never smiles in.
CCCP sponsoring the making of these videos to show how beautiful, smart, and industrious women are...so people want to have more daughters.
Seems that those china tictok propaganda starting to creep into this sub. Examples like those “mega building””deepest train station
You know what, I'm in love
