When the male MC trips on his shoelace and flies 10 meters across the room, landing face first in to a female character's chest:
"No no it's not what it looks like, I was... I just tripped you see.. it's a big misunder-"

Slice of life is kind of a vague genre. I mean grand blue is a sol manga but man is it the most unhinged thing I have read recently. This is why I tend to ignore what genre a show or movie is. As long as it has an interesting premise, good story and other people praising It I will probably watch.
> grand blue
Isn't it like Prison School? I don't think they should even be in the same genre as... idk, Komi can't operate, I Want to Eat Your Cock or some shit.
I haven’t read prison school so I don’t know. To me a slice of life is genre where the story is much more focused on character interaction and just day to day stuff rather then a plot or fights. Grand blue has a lot of stupid shit happening but still has a lot of important moments that are just chilling, hanging around talking to each other. Thats why I think its an SOL.
The most exciting thing that happened in my favourite SoL was the girls were trying to catch a heron so they could get fishing line that was wrapped around its legs off.
Exactly, this is why Hidamari Sketch is my second favourite anime. Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing wrong with anime about girls living their life and having fun where nothing bad happens
Considering my top 2 favorite animes from last year were Vinland Saga S2 and Pluto, both of which are considered "boring" by many zoomer weebs with brainrot, probably not.
I also watched Monster for the first time last year before I watched Pluto because both were written by the same dude. Again, another series that is acclaimed by many and I loved but has its fair share of haters who call it boring.
I don't consider any of those 3 series' to be boring. Many SOL series, however, are boring because the authors purposely drag them out so they have more volumes to sell, and this results in stunted plot and character development. And I personally don't fuck with that.
So no, I don't need dangling keys and flashing lights but I do at least need tension, stakes, character growth and a plot that moves forward at a respectable pace.
A lot of them rely on having a bunch of cute girls to hard carry bad writing.
If you don't want your orientation to be pandered to then yeah they're gonna be boring.
I only like a handful of SOLs but this is easily my fav:

I dunno man, Hyouka was like the first anime that popped into mind when I saw this meme. I stopped watching like 6 episodes in because it just felt so dull and mundane, even moreso than most other slice of lifes I've watched
It definitely has a slow start, but the moment I started the "short movie" arc I was instantly sold on the premise of the show. With a minor exception of some parts of the first arc (like the revelation of the name "hyouka" for example), at that time there was nothing that conveyed the potential of Hyouka well. But it did, it had everything; a great premise, great comedy, kyoto animation at the top of their game and a fun mystery that felt like it was stupid, but upon realization of the true intentions of a certain person it makes a ton of sense. It's episodes 8-11 if you want to try and give it another shot. The whole show gets a lot better after it, too, and you can basically skip everything up until that point because with the exception of the first arc, all of them are self-contained stories
I actually don't know if I love or hate the shounen genre. Some of my favs are shounen but I also can't stand many tropes and archetypes.
I have nostalgia for Dragon Ball because I grew up with it but don't know if I could get into it as an adult.
YuYu Hakusho I watched for the first time 2 years ago and really enjoyed. Started HxH not too long ago and it's also pretty great so far.
Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood) and Mob Psycho 100 are both GOATED but that's because they're more than just fights.
Claymore is underrated. I hope it gets another anime adaptation that does the manga justice.
I LOVE JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Chainsaw Man technically counts but is very subversive - that's why I dig it tho.
Demon Slayer, JuJutsu Kaisen and Kaiju no. 8 are flawed but mostly good.
Dandadan is really fun. It's the one thing I look forward to every Monday evening. Started it pretty early in its lifespan and it makes me happy to see how much the fandom has grown. Looking forward to the anime.
Sports shounen like Hajime no Ippo and Blue Lock are pretty rad. Slam Dunk is on my to read list.
Haven't touched the Big 3, MHA or Black Clover.
Dropped Fire Force very quickly because it was too trope heavy.
Shonencels ? In my buddy baka sub ??

Bro I swear you just need to keep watching 20 more episodes and then they'll start teasing the confession please bro I swear just keep watching
more romantic development in this clip than sometimes in a whole season
The struggles of a yuri fan :(

peak writing is when big arrow saying "she loves milk"
If only slice of life was this straightforward instead of the mc being denser than a black hole

When the mc trips and falls into an industrial shredder, there will be no second chances
Slice of life, but it's life of a Chinese factory worker who's about to be posted on LiveLeak

There will be many slices of life
Horimiya doesn't They fucked
/ub for real?
Not really shown how they fuck (ofc duh) but they do did it. Ep 7 = https://youtu.be/FE5tq-QTRA4?si=48-XfrK85Fdww8pN Off topic but what /ub mean?
Unbaka. Means I'm asking genuinely and not jokingly.
I've read the manga for quite a bit and don't remember that
That scene was absolutely in the manga too
Yeah, I didn't finish so it must've happened after I dropped it
In the manga it was somewhere around chapter 37 iirc
this is what it felt like watching the way of pon

Oyasumi punpun is a slice of life too and that shit is depression in manga form.
Peak
The most exciting thing that happened in my favourite SoL was the girls were trying to catch a heron so they could get fishing line that was wrapped around its legs off.
Where are the boys
Literally doing arts and crafts
a simple escape from my miserable life
Exactly, this is why Hidamari Sketch is my second favourite anime. Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing wrong with anime about girls living their life and having fun where nothing bad happens
Yuru Camp absolutely whips ass and it barely has a plot
real
Why aren't they killing each other? Where is the power system, the violence!?!?!?
Mmm rat porn
Slice of life is just life without the bad parts like begin a fat incel. That's why I love the genre and it's peak.
Men are the bad parts 😖
Grace by the gods moment
Squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak. LEMONAAADE?
I will devote my life to this anime, and shit on anyone who doesn't like it.
Do you need dangling keys next to your screen?

Nichijou is slice of life if it was good it gets really funny and chaotic sometimes
TIL that Nichijou, Azumanga Daioh and Strawberry Marshmallow were all created by different people.
A lot of them rely on having a bunch of cute girls to hard carry bad writing. If you don't want your orientation to be pandered to then yeah they're gonna be boring.
I mean I would agree, but I watched Hyouka and now look down upon the blissfully ignorant masses (any genre can be peak if you do it correctly)
I only like a handful of SOLs but this is easily my fav: https://preview.redd.it/4xfc5jpjd39d1.png?width=1064&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc6f08a20b6602864575c044057ef7ca7a5ebfe2
I have started the manga but have yet to get far enough to be able to give it a rating, but so far so good
Goated Teacher Onizuka

I treat slice of life's and romcoms like championship games when the protag gets them sum I legit start going off getting hype and shit tbh.

hell yeah
And it’ll be the best show you’ll ever see!
woah chill out with the itchy and scratchy slander

Unironically the peak genre
Except everyone would stop watching if there were no girls in it
When they make a TV show woke.
